note 4(n910v) not fast charging.( have tryed everything) - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im using my phone and it runs out of battery, when i plug it in i notice it takes forever for it to turn on.
I later find out the phone was only usb charging ( which takes forever). i try everything...
replace battery, change charging cords/boxes and charging location
i also replaced the whole usb port which did nothing.
aswell as a full format i did a cache clear
... im kind of stuck and would love some assistance.
i was told that my baseband was outdated by samsung
but when i try to plug my phone into the computer to update it
through a software called odin , it does to register.
win 10 tells me the usb device has malfunctioned or etc...
UPDATE!!!!2017: ive replaced the usbport again, and did a full update of the base band
and i forgot to mention that the phone isant even connecting to the computer
so some help is much needed please and thank you

First, do you know that there are 2 types of USB ports?
There are 5 pins USB and 11 pins USB.
Our Note 4 is using 11 pins version
Did you replace the USB port with the correct one?
Second, the cable also have 2 version, 5 & 11 pins.
11 pins USB is necessary for the Fast Charging to work properly

also i did order a original veizon usb port from ebay(ive got sm-n910v). looked like the original , and i ordered 2 from separate vendors.
one of the products i ordered looked of lesser quality. I tryed both

[Q] OEM usb cable malfunction

Hello community,
trying for half an hour to connect my note 3 to the pc using the OEM usb cable, I kept getting error 43 "Unknown Device" stuff but the phone was being charged. After that, I plugged it in my usb 3.0 external drive cable and got recognised instantly. What do you think is the problem here? I did happen to land the phone-edge of it in a yogurt bowl last week but, after cleaning it, it has been working normally this much time!
(Hope) someone else had a similar experience and worked it out...
Thanks,
jim
Original cable that came with my Note 3 has broken wire inside from new, I need to move it around few times just to get it connect inside and charge phone, Note 3 itself works fine with usb2 cables, or usb3 cable from my back up HDD, so I strongly suspect one of the wires inside your cable broke or has poor connection as well, but here it's data line, not power like in mine. Solution is very simple, use another usb3 cable, that should give you fast charge, or even usb 2, but here probably charge will be slower. You can find inexpensive cables online, also I don't think cables have full 1 yr warranty, like phones do but you may as well try warranty claim. BTW there is nothing special about Samsung charging cable as far as I know and at least in my case any USB3 cable will charge my phone at full speed, just like original cable as long as charger is original.

yes, Kies 3 has been installed since the beginning with the drivers. And as long as the phone is recognised through another cable, the drivers are definitly installed! Thanks again!

As long as I have the backup cable, I just leave the OEM in the wall charger and everything is fine. There is the fact that my Knox is 0x1, but I can just try the warranty with the cable and the receipt

[Help] USB not Recognized! and Phone Charging is very very slow.

I have been facing the issue of slow charging from 3 days now. It takes 9-10 hrs to charge completely. Interestingly I just plugged my phone to my PC and USB not recognized pops up every time. I tried changing USB Cables and Chargers , nothing helped. I think these two issues are closely related and some chip is blown up inside. Any idea if what could be causing this?
Use custom kernels
you find the solution ???? please help me if u can !!!
Same issue happened with me when actually Imy phone was bricked,I changed and used other usb cable, then I got solved my issue, then after 3 months, tht cable stopped to work only for my mobile (works in other mobiles still),so I have to keep changing cord n adaptor for fast charging, now iam currently using Moto turbo charging,n from 6 months it's working properly,n never use phone while charging
if pc says that the last usb you plugged is malfunction... than thats the problem with me also.. i guess phone usb port is damage some how... coz my phone also takes 5hrs to charge and pc plug say usb malfunction
You need to get your motherboard change if usb charging board is not seperate. i experienced the sam eissue on my zenfone 5, i did a thourough check, even bought its psu and relaced it. turns out its motherboard was buggy and a slight water drop on the cable mouth caused this issue. better get it replaced if its still in warranty else you will have to buy a new mobo.

2. Change the usb configuration, dont charge from pc it chaarges slow bcoz its DC
3. Change your rom, use custom ones or reflash whatever u r on.

Problem recognizing charging, headset, and PC connection

Hello boys! I have a very serious problem with my LE PRO 3. Since yesterday, the following is happening BUG: When I connect the charger, it does not load immediately. It only loads if I reboot the device. And if I take it out and put it back, it stops loading again. This also happens when I connect to the PC. The device only recognizes if I leave the cable connected and restart. With the headset the same thing. It only recognizes if I leave it connected and restart the device. I'm on the Cydrass Google edition ROM, and my device is the x720 version. I have already switched to other ROMs (LineageOs, Ressuection Remix, and even the Chinese STOCK ROM 26s, and the problem still persists!) Apparently it's a serious problem recognizing my USB port I do not know what else to do! Please, help me!
even first buy , do you have problem ?
To Vitor_147
Remember, if you change the stock original LeEco rom you cannot say "have a problem with my LePro3", it's no longer the original combo "LePro3" (hardware + software) so expect (and accept) anything (better or worse!) and report the defects to the rom developer.
Now some helping things!
Apart to clean the phone usb c port and to try a new usb cable, you can:
With the usb cable connected, switch the usb debug off (or on) (developer options) then check if your computer detect your phone.
Even if your computer doesn't detect the phone or your phone seems not charging battery, if the usb cable (and charger) is good in 99% of the cases it charges the battery even if not at full charge rate (expect a minimum 4 hours charge time).
Before to give up, the last try is to bring your phone back to factory conditions with everything (but everything!) under the exact conditions of how it came out of the factory, then you can start over there and have an idea of whether the phone has a hardware defect or if it's just a matter of software.
I hope you solve the problem, if you find the right solution please report it here, so other users can learn how to solve this problem! Cheers!

I already wrote this up in Omni thread, so I'll keep it short. I've also been experiencing this same issue for a while now, it first happened on stock rom, reboot solves it. Darko tried a fix in his eas kernel, seems to fix it (so maybe somehow kernel related). I believe it might be somehow related to the usb-c controller, cause I found cases online of similar issues with pixel phones (i believe the controller manufacturer is the same as in our phones). I actually know the exact moment when my problems first began, after I used my OTG adapter to connect a usb mouse. Few hours after that, the phone wouldnt charge.
{Disclaimer - this part is purely my theory}
I think it maybe somehow related to a safety "switch/fuse" of sorts, or something to do with static discharge or something similar, and here's why. I did a loot of trial and error since the first time it happened to me cause it scared the sh*t outta me, thinkin my phone is broken. I am vigilant about careful handling of usb ports and such, (ocd-ish really) so theres no way I physically damaged it, its not loose one bit, cleaned it out, tried wiggling the cable around anyway, has no effect, so I excluded the possibility of a faulty port/soldering. A few occurences to note
No1 - if I plug my phone in the charger first, and then plug the charger in the outlet, it breaks the port, I have to reboot to fix it. But plug the charger in the outlet first, then the cable to the phone - no problem. (Static discharge of sorts?)
No2 - since it started happening, the only way my usb-c OTG adapter works is if i first plug the adapter in the phone, and then the desired usb device in the adapter. If i try to plug the adapter in the phone w/say a usb stick already connected to it - no go, doesnt work.
Oh... I'm sorry for what happens to your phone! It's true the safest way to charge a phone avoiding current surge/spikes/shocks is to plug first the charger to AC outlet, then the usb c plug to the phone, then the usb plug to the charger. If possible, never plug/unplug the charger to/from the AC outlet if the phone is connected to the charger.
When the phone is full charged, first unplug the cable, not important which side first, then unplug the charger. If the phone is still charging, better unplug first the cable from the charger side to avoid micro spikes on the usb c port.
If you cannot obtain a normal behavior of the usb c port neither with reflashing the phone with the "qfil" system, perhaps a logic port of the usb c port is burned or simply in undetermined state, in the last case a total battery discharge may reset the logic port state and the phone can works fine once fully recharged. I'm sorry I can't help you better at this time! Cheers!

@orsonbear, thats my train of thought aswell, micro discharges occuring while plugging/unplugging causing the controller to freak out, or potentially damage the tiny connections (micro usb only had 4 wires vs 24! in usb-c). But I believe the problem lies somewhere on the software/firmware side, mainly because a reboot solves any issue I have. And also I just remembered, the first time it happened to me was a couple of days after I updated my firmware while updating to 19s, or 20s, cant recall precisely. Anywho, for me it's a minor nuissance, not like the OP who can only connect his phone once before rebooting (I can go for weeks before it occurs).

Yes,
I thought about letting the phone down completely, and see if that does not happen anymore!
Same problem here
Days ago it start happen, exactly how you say, i never change the stock software and it start happen randomly, I have to reboot to recognize anything that I plug into the USB c port, I try factory reset and change from 26s to 23s and it keeps happening so maybe I'm pretty ****ed, someone help me, in my country no one will fix the port u.u (sorry for my English).
Hellao! I'm having a very similar issue, charging works fine and the pc detects the phone but OTG and the audio on my headset is not working. Did someone of you find a solution to this problem?
1. x720, x722 or x727?
2. Where did you buy the phones? (Store names)
3. What kind of USB-C cable were you using? The one that came in the box? Have you used other USB-C cables and adapters to see if it works?
This could be hardware failure due to a lack of QCing from LeEco (just your average hardware issue) or a USB-C cable issue. It's ver. 1.0 on all LeEco Pro 3 models (right)? So I can't say it's the cable for sure. Has anyone attempted to take the phone apart to replace the port? do they even sell the port replacement?
Similar problem for me. About a month ago my headset stop working and the phone did not recognize it at all, tried with the adaptor to 3,5 mm jack and did not work either. Charging worked though.
Found a replacement chip with usb c port and ordered. Yesterday i replaced the charging port, but still the headset do not work at all, and connection to PC does not work ether. Charging still works as usual.
I ordered the phone from grossoshop 7 month ago with their rom. Tried this evening to upgrade the rom from 5.8.018 to 5.9.020, still grossoshop but no difference... It should not be a hardware problem as i replaced the type c port.
Should i try to flash another rom to see if there's any difference?
Any other suggestions?
Thankful for any ideas

Have you tried switching cables? Could you have broken a contact or something while swapping the port out? Have you tried putting the old port back in to see if the computer recognizes the phone with it? Unfortunately you're gonna have to try everything, even if opening it back up again is tough. LeEco phones aren't exactly known for their build quality. Are you x720? Well, flash whatever ROMs you can, I guess. Might as well try everything.

Yes, I have tried to switch the cables so no problem with them. Have not done a swap back again as the problem seem to be similar as before, so maybe a change to a different rom will be the next step for me. If change of rom does not work, maybe then I'll try to swap port again.
And yes, It's a X720
Thanks for fast reply.

Maybe it's not plugged in or attached correctly so the phone doesn't detect it. Sounds like a hardware issue to me, in all honesty. I once took apart my iPhone 5 to replace the non-functional home button and it wouldn't work no matter what I tried. I had to remove the battery, reseat it, and then attach the home button again. It finally worked after a reboot.
just report in on this thread, I as well recently purchased an x727 experienced the similar issue. Basically as described above no matter what roms i test is always have some sort of camera errors when charging.
sometimes charging doesn't work or camera doesn't work I have to reboot to get it to work. extremely annoying. I think it is hardware related.
Anybody else have a solution?

This my advice to anybody considering buying this phone don't why you will get zero support from letv.
I got luckey I have zero problems with phone .
I recommend spending more money and getting a supported phone by the maker.
If you do buy one buy it from Amazon where get a warranty on it.

Usb-pc and charging problem.

Hello, I am the owner of the Chinese version of the phone. I have trouble. After installing the unofficially firmware there was a problem.
The switched on phone does not see the connected charger, does not see the PC. (PC does not see my Phone too. No New devices)
If the phone is switched off and connected to the PC, then turn on my Phone, the PC and the phone see each other, until the cable is removed.
If the phone is switched off and connected to the charger, the phone is charging. If turn it on(connected to charge) Phone is charging, but only slow charge (no qc)
I tried different chargers and cables, including official.
I tried to install different firmware via Myflash and Axon7_EDL_Tool
for example:
A2017_B13_FULL_EDL_UNBRICK_DFU
A2017_B17_NOUGAT_FULL_EN
A2017_B11_OREO_FULL_OR
etc.
disassembled the phone, all contacts on the board are normal. externally all is ok.
what do you advise? how to return the phone to its normal state?

Very strange... it should not just stop working with usb port suddenly like that. You might have to try ordering a new USB board from Ali Express to actually make sure it's not the board. Some chip on it may have bricked that would be harder to ping.
mine does this too, only way to get it to charge is to power off, plug phone in, and then power back on. Tried clearing cashe/delvik and even wiped everything clean and did a fresh install of newest version of bootloader/twrp/rom
I am also experiencing this recently. about two weeks already not having quick charging and PC connection nor OTG function not working.
If I have time, I'm gonna open up this phone too.

S7 Edge will not fastcharge or be recognized on PC?

Hey all!
I have been having a huge issue with my SM-G935A for a few weeks now, and I would really love you guys' help finally resolving this!
There are 2 main issues:
When plugged into my PC via (any) micro USB cable, Windows displays "The last USB Device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
And when I am charging the device via (any) micro USB cable, it does NOT fast charge. HOWEVER, if that same adapter and cable are connected to my QC2 Wireless Charger, it DOES fast charge.
The troubleshooting steps I have taken already:
Made sure the charging port was clear of any dust or debris.
Inspected for any sign of damage to port. None found.
Reboot into Safe Mode.
Used rubbing alchohol and a tiny brush to clean port. Dried in front of fan for a day and rebooted.
Tried multiple combinations of chargers/cords. It should also be noted that I only have 1 PC to test device with, but drivers were uninstalled/reinstalled via google, and then again with smartswitch. My older Galaxy S6 is recognized with no porblems.
From recovery, wiped cache
The only thing left that I can think to do software related is a FDR -_- , and I have already purchased a replacement USB port for it if it is needed.
Here is an album showing charge testing and condition of port.
Anyone have any other troubleshooting steps before I have to FDR/Replace USB port?
Thanks!!!

If your USB isn't recognizing your phone or fast charging isn't working the problem is with your cord, I've legitimately had cords that just go bad over time or usually just the cheaper cords replacement cords have no adb interface which is needed for fast charging.
You can test the theory with a different cord or if your device switches from fast charging to cable charging over time, like about 5 minutes of fast charging.

I think I have tried over 10 "Known good" USB cables with the same results for them all. Also, would a faulty cable still be able to provide QC2 fast charging?
Are you using windows?
---------- Post added at 09:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 PM ----------
Also did you recheck if fast charging hasn't been disabled by mistake?
Okay there are a few things to check and I really don't think the charging port is at fault here.
Dial *#0808# and make sure USB settings is set to MTP (or MTP+ADB) which is the default, other options may give you a usb device not recognised error. Also under AP settings make sure it's set to AP which is the default too.
Make sure USB debugging is disabled in developer options if you have developer options not hidden in settings page.
I also had a case one time on a Samsung Galaxy S5 where it would not detect the phone at all on any computer until I did a software update on the phone, try that if it's not up to date yet. Another thing to try is reflashing firmware on the phone, something I would do as last resort but can be done without wiping data (hint you flash home_csc file and not non-home csc to avoid wiping data).

Just wanted to note that the charging port assembly has it's sub keys (switch app and back button) wrap under the screen meaning that if you were to replace the whole charging assembly it would require lifting up the screen which is almost guaranteed to destroy the screen when doing so.
If the charger port really needs to be replaced it is done via micro-soldering, removing the old port and putting the new one on the charging flex. It can only be done by someone that does charging port replacements via soldering / board level repairs for Samsung. If you were to go this route I would look for a reputable repair shop that offers that service.
have you tried inserting the micro usb on the back panel of the computer?
front planels are usually faulty.

You can also delete all usb drivers , most will reinstall on their own (system based so don't worry) then on windows have disk and manually install the Microsoft MTP driver , had this issue couple of times as I am on windows insider , doing this sorted it out for me
"Dial *#0808# and make sure USB settings is set to MTP (or MTP+ADB) which is the default, other options may give you a usb device not recognised error. Also under AP settings make sure it's set to AP which is the default too."
***Checked both- they are correct.
"Make sure USB debugging is disabled in developer options if you have developer options not hidden in settings page."
***Toggled on and off and Windows recognizes the switch but malfunctions either way.

***Just performed FDR last night with no changes in results.

***I do own the equipment to perform this, but lack the knowledge of actually how to properly perform this. Know of any decent guides?
Thanks!!!
Fast Charge fix....possibly
I noticed someone asked if maybe you had disabled fast charge via settings and did not see a reply. May be worth a look as sometimes it's simple things. They can only be toggled on or off while phone is not plugged in or on wireless charger. Anyways go to Settings then Device Management then Battery. Tap the 3 dots in top right corner. Select Advanced Settings. If it's not ticked on that's the problem. After that do the *#0808# again select MTP and ADB and reboot. Uninstall all previous drivers on PC plug in phone and see what happens.

Try to use a good factory Samsung cord on PC. Hope That helps at least one of your problems.
This is a video that shows charging port (port only replacement) via soldering which is the best way to do it without needing to remove the screen:

I've seen sometimes these go bad with liquid damage corrosion (white marks) behind the charging port socket pins. If you are lucky you can just clean them + resolder / clean corroded pins and it'll work again otherwise port will need to be replaced.
