[Help] Attempted to install TWRP and Root on to my device - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
Really need some help, I really cannot afford to loose this phone.
I wanted to have twrp and root my phone.
I followed this tutorial
Step by Step
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/recovery-official-twrp-herolte-t3333770
Although, he did not mention if I had to do a adb sideload with the t dm-verity and force encryption disabler which i thought he did so I done so. It then unmounted something. So I then proceeded to sideload supersu onto my phone. I had the Nougat release (1st release) Was planning on updating it but had to get twrp first which led me to this.
My phone is now in a boot loop and I am stumped. I think I took on too much.
The sideload worked when i did it via the cmd prompt. but trying to boot up does nothing.
Any help will be appricated. I don't even know where to start

Have you tried to get into download mode and flashing original firmware through Odin?

Attempting that at the moment thanks, What else could it be otherwise?

Hmm I can't, every time i try to go to download mode I only get put to twrp again, either when i hold the power, vup and home button

I put my old firmware back on, thanks for the info. I did not know that would work. Is it that easy to bring a device back to life?
Think I will do my research next time.
I appreciated it dwarfer.
Thanks

Nexus 6p Root Failure / Boot Loop / Android 6.0.1

I tried to root my Nexus 6P and now I'm stuck. It won't finish booting. I followed instructions found on the web. I unlocked bootloader with no problem. I copied the latest SuperSU file to the phone. I installed TWRP recovery. However, I could not find the SuperSU file when using TWRP. Nevertheless, when I went to exit, TWRP asked if I wanted to instal SuperSU. I recall reading somewhere that it will install the wrong version of SuperSU (not the one for 6.0.1). Somehow I must have hit the wrong selection because it installed it anyway. Now I have an infinite loop.
I have tried to factory reset with TWRP. That fails. I downloaded the 6.0.1 images files from Google. I tried to run flash-all.bat, but that doesn't work. I have pushed images and ZIPs to the /sdcard/ folder with ADB. ADB recognizes the device, but fastboot does not (when connected to my laptop) (which is why flash-all doesn't work). I have tried to install the images/zips with TWRP. However, I always get "failed" messages. I get messages that partitions won't load.
Stupidly, I do not have a nandroid backup (yes, I know, a dumb move).
Any suggestions on what to try next? I'm at my wit's end with this. I've searched the web all morning and found all kinds of helpful info, but I can't find anything to get me past this point. I am perfectly willing to wipe it all out and start over again if I could just force it to do that. I just bought it so I suppose I could return it (I think there's a 30-day return policy), but Google might not like it if it comes back in this state, I suppose. I had an AT&T Galaxy Note 5 for half a day but found out, after the fact, that I can't root it.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
Why did you follow instructions found on "Web" when u have the beautiful guide by our @Heisenberg? Read this thread. Instead of running flash - all. Bat file, follow the instructions in this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3206928

I saw that post. I wish I had followed it. However, the instructions are very similar to what I tried, although not exact. Where I went wrong is letting TWRP install SuperSU for me. I didn't mean to but when I touched the phone it installed it (of course, I hit something, but I don't know what). Fastboot does not recognize the phone in recovery. I can follow Heisenberg's instructions to get back to stock IF fastboot would recognize the phone. ADB recognizes the phone. Would it be possible to use ADB Sideload instead? How can I force fastboot to recognize the phone? If I could do that, I would be able to flash images back to the phone. Thanks!
U should try fastboot in bootloader / download mode instead of recovery mode..
OK, two comments: Duh (as I slap my head) and Bless You! That worked. I'm back to stock. At least the phone works now. I'll try again to root following Heinsenberg's instructions! Thanks. Where do I sent the beer money?

Well, I'm back to a stock phone, anyway. Flashing SuperSU per Heinsenberg's instructions did not give me root. Oh well. I'll keep trying. It did install and it did reboot just fine. However, root checker says I have no root and Titanium Backup won't run, either. Thanks.

[Urgent Help needed] Android 7.0 Flashable Zip

Does anyone have a clean flashable zip for Android 7.0 because I have tried to flash for Nexus 6P? because I tried to flash with the factory image that provided by google on this page :https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#angler
when I clicked on flash-all.bat keep getting waiting for devices no mater what I do reboot, re-plugged, nothing changed so i'm very desperate right now, I wiped everything in my phone. Please help. :crying::crying:

There are no factory image flashable zips, as those have to be unpacked and flashed as individual partitions. However, there are OTA zips that you can sideload via ADB. If you're looking for a full Nougat factory image that you can flash with TWRP, you won't find it.
The index of all Nougat factory images and OTA updates are at http://www.xda-developers.com/facto...nexus-going-live-updated-with-nexus-6p-links/ and the OTA is listed down the page ... https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/angler-ota-nrd90u-519758d5.zip
Finally, and most importantly for you, you need to be stock MM (right down to stock recovery) to apply a factory OTA via sideload. For a factory image update, you're actually much better off unpacking the factory image and flashing all partitions via fastboot, by following Heisenberg's guide. This would be the way to go right now, provided you have no problem booting into your bootloader.
The OTA can be quite normal flash with TWRP, without sideload
The simplest way out of your predicament would be to download nexus root toolkit here http://www.wugfresh.com/. This will let you flash stock, it will download all the files for you.
I am still trying to figure out what so urgent about it?!
You probably don't have ADB drivers installed or you're not in bootloader mode.
No need to make a big fuss about such tiny thing.

Actually I did install ADB driver, but it still doesn't work, right now my phone is in bootloop for 2 days and I can't do and don't know what to do about it
OK
1. Push the power button until your device is turned off.
2. after a minute or so, power on the device holding at the same time " Volum DOWN + POWER" until the device will turn on and you will see the FastBoot screen, then let go of the two buttons
3. While in Fastboot mode, make sure your PC manage to "see" your device. If it does, then move on . If it doesn't something is wrong with your ADB drivers and you need to fix this before moving on.
4. Assuming your ADB drivers are installed properly, you have three choices:
4.1 Make a clean install using the Google Factory Image Which will result in a lose of all user data and you will probably have a functioning device.
4,2 Use a toolkit such as Wugfresh's one and restore to a clean Install just as in section 4.1
4.3 You can try and change the flash-all.bat file that comes with Google factory images and remove the "-w" from the last line of the file. That will keep your data and will refresh your OS.
There you go.

HELP. Phone stuck on black screen after installing SuperUser.

Hey guys, I'm a little devastated. Hoping I didn't ruin my phone.
So, earlier today I unlocked my Moto G4 Plus's bootloader and installed TWRP recovery. I installed ElementalX and a superuser.zip file as well. After reboot, there was no superuser in my app drawer and when I checked my root status with Phh's Root Checker, it said that my phone was not rooted properly. I then found the guide here on how to root, and noticed that it had Phh's SuperUser. I changed the config.txt file like mentioned in the guide, booted into TWRP recovery and installed it and clicked on reboot. I got the usual bootloader unlocked message, but after that my screen went blackish-grey and has been that way since, which is about 15-20 minutes now. I (panicking and being a noob) tried switching it off using the power button which didn't work. I then checked to see if it showed up as connected device in android sdk/fastboot, which it didn't.
WHAT DO I DO? I can't just buy another phone since I can't afford it as I recently bought this one, so it's a really big deal for me. :crying:
PLEASE HELP ME.
Thank you.
UPDATE.
Hey guys,
First of all, thank you for the replies. I'm sorry I couldn't reply to them.
Secondly, a few things have happened since the OP. Keep in mind I had absolutely NO internet during the following events, so I couldn't do any research.
The night my phone went black screen, I went to sleep thinking i'll let it die out of battery and work the rest out in the morning. So the next morning I put the phone on charge and went into the bootloader. I tried doing a normal reboot which didn't work (I got the same screen) so I went into into bootloader again, connected the phone to my computer (it got recognized this time) and re-flashed TWRP. I went into recovery mode on the phone and tried re-flashing ElementalX and superuser. This time I got an error when trying to flash the superuser.zip, and the error was:
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/superuser.zip'
I had another supersu.zip in my phone storage, tired installing it and got the same error.
When I tried doing a normal reboot into my system, it goes on a boot loop on the "your device is unlocked" screen and has been that way ever since.
What do I do now?
Should I try to re-flash TWRP and superuser with the right files, or should I restore stock recovery? I don't have any backup. (noob mistake)
I'd highly appreciate it anyone linked me the proper twrp and superuser or stock recovery files and if possible guided me on what to do.
PLEASE HELP ME.
thank you.
UPDATE #2
So I did what abhi212b told me to do and flashed the stock rom. Everything is fine now.
I'll try rooting it again a bit later. Thanks for the help.
UPDATE #3
I tried rooting my phone again, and it went flawlessly this time! Rooted successfully.
What an emotional rollercoaster lol.
Push the power button for at least 2-3 minutes. Worked for me and others in the past.

Like the poster above stated, hold the power button until the screen shuts off. YOUR PHONE WILL AUTO REBOOT!!! The instant the screen turns off, begin holding the volume down button. When you see the fastboot screen pop up, begin flashing your N images again, or use a custom ROM (which are generally much faster, easier to mess with, and easier to recover from).
Ex didn't flash properly.. That is what I can estimate! If u root on stock kernel, it breaks the device.
As said above go to bootloader (works on any screen... Power and volume down) and then to twrp maybe (flash twrp from fastboot). And then restore any previous nandroid u have.. If not u will have to flash stock via fastboot and then flash ex kernel. When u flash, restart and go to about phone and see if the kernel shows elemental x.. If yes, go to twrp and root it via suoersu, phhh's superuser or magisk su.. Whichever u like.. That should be fine!

That won't help!
Best is that u should flash stock rom, since the phone is bootlooping...
U can find it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-xt1640-43-athene-npj25-93-t3549369
Flash it on bootloader screen via fastboot.
Do not relock the bootloader. Skip that step and also do NOT flash bootloader.img and partition. That can mess up the device.
once this is done, boot the device once... Finish the setup and then flash twrp.. Then flash ex kernel then flash any root Zip. (supersu, magisk or phhh's superuser)
Twrp can be found from here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...p-twrp-3-0-2-2-recovery-moto-g4-plus-t3386586

Only the last SuperSU Beta defaults to systemless install. Any other ones require writing of a .SuperSU file to force systemless before rooting.

If you have not done this already, you can give it a try by flashing the stock boot.img via twrp and see if that boots the device.
I am not sure that it will work since, i have not tried it.
Exact same thing with the XT1625. I have also found that the systemless method of rooting with SuperSU kills my wifi and cellular network's connection abilities, which might just be a standard G4 thing but the only way I know of to fix it is reflashing the OS (data wipe not necessary).
Just thought this might be helpful to anyone who ran into similar issues to the ones I had.
also i'm still having issues with the stupid thing actually rooting but i'm gonna try again some other day.

I think that is the kernel issue.. you should try EX.. and then use SuperSU or maybe use Magisk SU..

Please help me get my S6 Edge Plus (SM-G928F) out of TWRP Recovery

Heyy guys, this is my first time posting a new thread
Unfortunately, my phone is stuck in TWRP recovery. When it was still working I downloaded Flashify. I don't remember what but when it restarted the phone, it stayed in TWRP recovery and never went back to normal. I tried wiping my phone several times and still won't go back. Then I pressed the option Change or Repair System File or something like that. But I put the wrong option on that menu and now it is completely stuck on the TWRP startup screen , I can't enter TWRP at all.
I tried everything that I possibly could. I even tried flashing a different version of TWRP and Philz Touch but still didn't budge. If y'all have any possible solutions, please speak up. My phone has been like this for about 6 days :crying:
I'm downloading the stock firmware of my model SM-G928F (G928FXXSBPIB). That's the only thing that I think that could possibly make it work. Do y'all think the same or is there something else I could do?
Go in download mode and flash that stock firmware that you downloaded.

Ok so now if you want to root your phone. first install twrp and make sure oem is unlocked. Then when you boot into twrp make sure you dont select that option at the start otherwise you will keep booting into twrp continuously. Next flash cf auto root and then go back into twrp and enable that option that was disabled before you rooted your phone. You should be fully rooted with no errors.

I'm panicking a bit and i'd really need help :(

Hello ! So i'm bit stressed now cause i never had an unpullable battery before on my samsung.
So i just got from my cousin a galaxy s6 edge plus, and i want to root it. so installed odin and flashed twrp-3.1.0-0-zeroflte.img.tar
However now it kept being on the samsung logo. So i had to e press and hold the Volume down and Power/Lock keys on the device for 10–20 seconds to power it off. But it keeps rebooting, and now, it's only a black screen with a blue led. I don't know what to do, i'd really need your help. Thank you I'm so worried gosh.
update 1: i tried to force shut down by pressing the buttons and it used to display the samsung and carrier logo then be stuck on samsung logo, but now it just shows samsung galaxy, turn off and the recent apps et return buttons blinking. Kinda scary. I'm waiting for the battery to discharge, hopefully it will work I need your help
The zerolte is for the S6 EDGE, you want the zenlte
http://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys6edgeplus.html
You should be able to hold vol down, home and power buttons to get into download mode to flash it.
Use the power and volume down button to force reset and when it does quickly press all 3.
Thank you for your time ! i did as you said, i entered twrp recovery mode and performed a wipe, but i'm still in a bootloop ! any ideas ?
EDIT : but i installed the new twrp over the old one might it be conflicting ?
I went back to 3.0.2.0 and don't have a bootloop issue anymore, it may be the latest update giving the issues.
Ehhh going back to the 3.0.2.0 didn't work either. I have the TWRP menu, have wiped, but i'm still in a bootloop. :/ I'm happy cause it's not bricked but i still use my phone...any help appreciated guys :<
So are you using a custom rom?
You can enter twrp to install/wipe etc?
nope i'm on stock rom and yeah i can enter twrp and install and wipe !

Just download the latest firmware for your smartphone (SM-G928x (Replace the x with your spessific model number on the back)) and your country from sammobile.com and flash it through odin. This should wipe your data and perform a clean reflash of the stock ROM. After that procedure it will take about 10 minutes to boot and it should be working again
sammobile is pretty slow is SamFirm okay ? And thanks i'l ltry this !
ok so i tried to flash the rom from sam firm for my SM-G928F SFR but it just shows up with a failed... any ideas ?
I had an issue trying to flash stock Rom back, I was trying to flash an older version and it failed, i downloaded the latest for my model and it worked. Are you sure you downloaded the right one?

I presume you ave the SM-G928F S6 Edge +. Just flashing TWRP will cause boot loop. Please see post and flash via twrp the section 12. This should stop the bootloop. Allways remember never turn of OEM locking if you have a custom recovery.
" If you only want a bootable system partition or readable data in TWRP:
Download dm-verity and force encryption disabler.
Without exiting TWRP, transfer no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip to your device over MTP* and flash it using [Install] in TWRP.
** If your internal storage is encrypted, you will need to use adb sideload instead."
