SMS on 2nd SIM card? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hi!
I'm wondering if anyone has SMS running on his 2nd SIM card.
Can you enter the *#*#4636#*#* it's not possible to enter the SIMC of SIM#2 as there's only one field applying to SIM#1.
In Dual Sim settings I see an option "default sim for calling" but not "default sim for sms"

You get a choice to use the sims at the bottom when you want to send.

Strange one

Funny one this, got my x10 last week, I can do everything, call, text, browse the net, download stuff off th market, only thing is, in the phonebook it says my number: sim card not recognised? ? ?
Any ideas? ?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Sorry it says sim card unavailable, not sim card not recognised
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Your SIM car doesn't know your phone number. Just borrow a normal phone (not a smartphone), insert your SIM card and then go to the phonebook, and modify the special numbers. You have to specify your phone number there. When you will insert your SIM card in your X10, you will see your phone number instead of the weird message.
No, didnt work

Weird. It worked for me.
Try this :
from phonebook > MENU key > More > Import contacts > import from Sim card
No, i've imported my contacts but above the contacts where is says my mobile number, it just says sim card unavailable

Unable to set SMSC number

Hi all,
after hitting *#*#4636#*#*
i am unable to retrieve the SMSC nor update the number keyed in.
for example singapore singtel: +6596197777
After i click on update it gives me update error.
Does not matter which rom nor radio i use it all wont work.
Can help?
Are you not receiving any SMS? Why are you trying to modify this? When I was on Starhub and my girlfriend on Singtel we never had any SMS issues. Are you trying to forward them elsewhere?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
i am trying to send sms but unable to so i went to update the SMSC using the numbers given by singtel.
The problem is that i can recieve sms but not able to send them.
Phone is unlocked, rooted and flashed with cm 2.3.4 kanged.
That is quite odd we never had any issues like that on my nexus one or either of our nexus s phones while we were there. Our nexus s phones were stock but my nexus one was constantly having new roms flashed on it and never experinced that on Singtel or Starhub. Have you tried wiping the phone and reinstalling your rom?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
yes done all that, and mixed and match different radios and roms to test but to no avail.
Have you flashed a stock backup image? One that isn't rooted? Did you have any of these problems before rooting? After rooting? Was it only after you started flashing roms?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Call tour service provider and have your SIM repushed
Sent from my Nexus S
sim card was reset by singtel (Telco)
Rom was flash with stock, cm7 etc etc all types of radio
The only solution left is to update it with another SIM card
I had a similar problem a few weeks ago and I solved it by *#*#4636#*#*, phone information, press menu button, select radio band. Select the one that should be good for you then re-enter your smsc number and it might work.

The reason why it doesn't hold is that you cannot enter and save the number as +xxxzxxxhhff. You have to convert it to a smsc + pdu format.
Google it up.
An alternative would be to put the sim card in an old phone (non smart phone) and change the centre number there, save it and transfer back the sim in your phone.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Right before you posted that i did that.
Problem solved
SIM card missing SMSC number. Place into old phone(non-smart phone) or another phone and input SMSC number then place SIM card back to NS. Done!
Thanks for the help
I realised after keying in ur smsc number via another phone. I powered back my nexus s again and went into *#*#4636#*#* it still shows up as blank.
In the nexus s, to enter smsc number, you first have to convert it to pdu format.

Thx for ur hint @ deeren.
Hah, i managed to fix my SMS problem with ur hint.
I tried to update my SMSC for Orange Switzerland using +41787777070
Phone crashed on updating.
Then i converted the number using this page into PDC format.
AT+CMGW=17
07911487777770F011000091sasdda0000AA00000000000000
Updated the SMSC using 07911487777770F0 and voilà, im able to send SMS again
Btw, maybe there is a better page/tool to convert the SMSC number into PDU, cause the link i found converts the whole stuff and not just the smsc. And therefore u have to snip the correct hex-nums out of the complete string.
//update: its quite easy to snip the exact numbers out of the whole string.
First Number = Length of SMSC Info -> In my Case 07 -> SMSC has a length of 7
07911487777770F0[/B]11000
7 Hexdups -> 91 14 87 77 77 70 F0
Complete SMSC PDU => LengthInfo + NumOfHexdups
Update2:
@rallos, for +6596197777 it SHOULD be
0691566991777711000091sasdda0000AA00
Means: Enter 06915669917777 as your SMSC number
Code:
0691566991777711000091sasdda0000AA00
nn112233445566
nn=length of smsc=06
11=1st hex=91
22=2nd hex=56
33=3rd hex=69
44=4rd hex=91
55=5rd hex=77
66=6th hex=77
Results in 06915669917777

This has bitten me too previously, why is the NS's SMSC number in a different format? I know SGS we can enter the number straight as it is in the same screen.
Try Go SMS Pro
I have been struggling and struggling to change the SMSC on my G2X CM7.1 using *#*#4636#*#* to no avail. I kept getting "update error". I could not send sms. I can change the number using the Go SMS Pro in the settings and now I can send sms.

Switch the sim to an older android phone, #*#*4636*#*# then went to phone information , clicked refreshed, then put the sim back in my phone and that solved the issue. Thanks a lot! I have been looking for solution all afternoon.
This is the cure. It works

Setting up T-Mobile Voicemail on Nexus 4

Hey guys, I'm trying to get some support on setting up voicemail on the Nexus 4 for T-Mobile. I've been doing a couple of hours of research and haven't run across anything substantial. If anyone can help me that would be awesome!
Also note: I also tried downloading T-Mobile's voicemail app and it wouldn't set up properly. The app would say it couldn't setup properly at the time.

Never tried T Mobile Voice mail. I just have everything forwarded over to my Google Voice which provides Voice mail. That's always an alternative if you can't get the T Mobile one working.

Where are you?
Why would you not just use Google voice?

Change the voice mail to Google Voice. Install the app and go through the installation procedure and have voice mail go from "My Carrier" to "Google Voice"

Did you hold down 1 in the dial pad? It should take you directly to your voicemail or have you configure it. It worked that way for me when I was on contract and still works the same using prepaid.

Yup... I don't know why, but conditional call forwarding is not supported on any of the prepaid plans.

I sure did. It then says, "You've reached the voicemail system. If you have a mailbox on this system, press star...". I proceeded with star and entered my phone number and it says it's "invalid". Lost in terms of why it's asking that. I'm used to the general - setup your mailbox prompt. Some reason, it doesn't exist here.
T-Mobile visual voicemail app works for me. If you're on WiFi, turn it OFF during the initialization. Once you're all setup, you'll be good to go.

I didn't have any problems with my voicemail. I've had T-Mobile for a while and all I did was get a new sim card and had it activated and my voicemail was working with no problems at all with my Nexus. Also I found this from T-Mobile support...
"To access the voicemail main menu, follow these steps:
Note: Make sure you are not roaming when attempting to set up voicemail for the first time.
1.Dial 123 or hold down the 1 key
2.Press Send.
3.Enter the last 4 digits of your mobile number as your voicemail password.
4.Follow the tutorial to set up your voicemail password and greeting.
Note:
•If you decline to set up the voicemail password and/or greeting, the tutorial plays each time until you set up both the password and greeting. Therefore, it is optimal to activate both features during initial setup."
Also if that doesn't work try calling your cell number from your land line and hit * when you get your voicemail if it lets you.
Are calls to T-Mobile voicemail count toward 100 minutes($30 plan) limit?

I appreciate your help! I definitely thought the same. After contacting T-MO, they said that the feature has been turned off. I have no clue how this has happened when the only change has been me ordering a micro-sim and activating it.. Weird! But all is well..
Again, I truly appreciate your guy's help! You are awesome..

Hello,
How do you guys swich between sims as you call or send messages? Is it a better methot than "always ask". I use True Phone app from Play Store. It has also a thread on Xda. You can setup all your contacts to use the Sim of your choice. And if I have to dial a new number I can choose to remember it for future use.

How to block Caller ID on outgoing calls (V20 US996)

I just bought a new V20 (model US996). Could someone tell me how to block Caller ID on outgoing calls? Found instructions at the link below but my phone doesn't have the "Additional Settings" shown. Thanks in advance!

I should add that I haven't bought a sim card yet for this phone as I haven't settled on a carrier. Would that make the difference? (I'm completely new to smartphones. This is my first one.)
Additional Settings shows up on my T-Mobile version.
Each carrier seems to have their own set of options or lack there of.

Does this mean that if I buy a T-Mobile Sim Card, it will (somehow?) programme the phone to turn this option on? Or is it that LG programmed it at the factory for the H918 (T-Mobile) model? Or are both of these true? Sorry to pepper with questions. I'm really ignorant of all this right now.
If a T-Mobile Sim won't give me this option, how do I get it? Root the phone? Thanks for your help!
Just dial *67 before the number you want to call

Thanks. But that's a pain to do on every call. I'd rather dial a prefix to turn ON Caller ID when I want it. Any clues on how to get the missing "Additional Settings" to show up on the model 996?
