Hi there folks!
I was just browsing through the Qualcommn Snapdragon website and I found a fishy feature that I think is supported by our device, but not available yet! This feature is the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Voice Activation.
Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Voice Activation
So, what's this Voice Activation thing? That's why I have created this thread!
As per Qualcommn's previews, it is much like the Google Now's "OK Google" feature. The user is supposed to yell,"Hey Snapdragon!" and the phone responds whether it is in a locked or unlocked state (doesn't matter). Just yell,"Hey Snapdragon" and tell the device what to do! It's that simple! Except this, this feature is gonna be in "Always ON" state. So, are we living in a Snapdragon fantasy or is it actually real? Visit their site here to know more!
Is there any device that has voice activation activated?
As far as I know, there's only one device with the voice activation availability - OnePlus One.
So, this thread is just a discussion thread for anybody who is curious about when and how will this feature be ready for the Redmi Note 3?
Hit Thanks if I Helped You!!!

PoseidnKing
This feature was initially announced in 2013 for Snapdragon 800 series, but support was added to 600 series later on too...

After the 2013 announcement, I've never heard again of it's usage.
It seems to be implemented at the Google Pixel as well as some Nexus devices as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Snapdragon variant. It's working on these devices with screen-off and without plugged in charger, and used by Google Now "OK Google".
As I have a Mi Mix with a SD821, I wonder if this could work.
I activated all the options in Google Now but it isn't working. As well as for many others using SD810, 820 and 821 devices, it doesn't seem to work for any of them, when not charging the device:

It simply responds to the Ok Google command when screen is turned off without any battery drain. You've to enable the respond at every screen in Google now settings.
Just like the Moto X alwayson voice activation feature.

OEMs needs to pay Qualcomm extra to use this feature.

Hey snapdragon was only the replacement for. Okay Google app... Rest the things remain same.. For Android versions Google now supports okay Google from any screen as well as
From the sleep (only when the device is on charging). It drains a lot more battery.. When I was one oneplus one the feature used to consume battery a lot. But if you still will to give a try use this app.. This features the word you want to go to the okay Google screen

OK Google without any launcher
This thread was basically a question thread, but I found out that OK Google feature doesn't work on MiUi stock launcher. So, this app makes it work on MiUi too. Besides, you can also change the function call name, like OK Google can become Hey Google, or more! Thanks @Andy1911 for the app linkage.
Steps:
1. Install Open Mic from here.
2. Install commandr from here.
3. Enjoy!

I'm guessing device specific features are not part of the eclair -> froyo update (e.g. fm radio and the trackball colors). Guess we will have to wait for the upcoming ROM for Nexus One to find out.

Yeah its pretty awesome.
The developers used just 8!! hours to develop it.
I downloaded it the day after SIRI was launched.
Yeah, well it was in alpha version and WAS buggy, but that kinda work is pretty amazing for 8 hours of work eh ?
Thats EPIC!

Thanks, this is a great app.
You should check out Eva / Evan Intern as well.
It's the same concept, but has all the features of SIRI (including location based reminders) plus some.. I prefer it to SpeakToIt, but they're both great apps!

Hello,
Is it possible to set Google Now Hotword Detection to be ALWAYS ON?
I would like to ability to quickly use Google Now by saying "Google" anywhere, any apps, any phone state. Currently, it's only avail at the Google Now homepage.
Thanks!

I've been trying to find hotword modifying myself... After all if this is always on the word Google is a little common around my office.
I'm also wondering if is possible to kick on voice activation from a remote key press like a USB keyboard.

Anyone notice that it forgets the custom phrase randomly? I've gone in and delete my voice history but it still seems to forget my custom phrase pretty often.

Yeah, it certainly may last for more than a week in always-on-mode. I've never seen a phone like this;; looks far better optimized than Xiaomi's. Great! :good:

Yeah, what I meant by always-on-mode is extremely power-saving mode, the blank screen except a clock maybe. No processors on-going background is still not enough for most of the smart phones to last for couple of days. So pls don't feel sarcastic. :victory: Maybe I am talking too much on your forum???
