Yeah its pretty awesome.
The developers used just 8!! hours to develop it.
I downloaded it the day after SIRI was launched.
Yeah, well it was in alpha version and WAS buggy, but that kinda work is pretty amazing for 8 hours of work eh ?
Thats EPIC!

Thanks, this is a great app.
You should check out Eva / Evan Intern as well.
It's the same concept, but has all the features of SIRI (including location based reminders) plus some.. I prefer it to SpeakToIt, but they're both great apps!
Yes great app

I used the official version .. and besides it does not support the video, it was also rather buggy. For example when I tried changing volume when in skype, it crashed altogether with launcher. I use all official rom and launcher and everything.

will this let your video call a pc
Should work
The hacked version worked fine, but the front face camera was always landscape oriented. Should've been portrait oriented by default.
who wants skype when google talk video is brilliant . I called from phone to a friends pc and it was brilliant over wifi

Guys... it's Skype we're talking about.
Of course it's buggy. Of course it crashes.
It's a well known fact that Skype is written by severely drunk monkeys with Alzheimer's, using only their legs to write code.

Just tested video chat over 3G/H+ in Toronto with Skype and gTalk.
Skype video quality is bad, all image in little squares, and it took about 1Mb of traffic for 1 minute of video chat.
gTalk video is much-much better, the image is clear but it took about 6Mb of traffic for 1 minute.
Since 3G is payed by traffic - it's up to you what to choose, nice video-quality or nice monthly bill.
Good news to all GS2 user
Skype just release Video call today, please update yours.

Are you guys talking about the official Skype app from market or the patched .47 version?

man, is that so hard to see that there is a service always running on background? the purpose of Stop Skype is to stop all background processes, nothing more, nothing less...or you can force close the application, but it's not so handy.
Been waiting for this news. Thanks mate!!

Hi there,
I heard of Iris but for me it's.. well.. not that great. So I've created my own app called Risi. You can try it for free on the Android Market.
It would be great for me if you could test it a bit and give a little review of what Risi does well and things that are still missing. I'm going to include that new features then to make it an real Siri-Alternative for those without an iPhone.
Regards,
AndroidChromeOS
i don't know for some reasons its not speaking ... but replying fine!
I think it's a great idea and works but the engine it's a bit hit and miss. Even if the voice to text is recognised the suggestion sometimes is a bit random. Why not use Wolfram engine? No guesses why Wolfram apk hasn't been updated in market for a while.

Hi,
The application does not work on HTC Desire HD.
And I think he does not understand French?
Its betfer than iris.
u should include better ui , risi speaking to us.
better brains.

Thanks for all that feedback. Risi will speak soon to you.. I'm currently working on this. The program is already connected to trueknowledge, thats something similar to wolfram alpha. The problem is that the chatbot is before that technology so he have to decide witch informations have to be fetched. But thats what I'm going to fix today. Please stay tuned

Thumbs up !
i dont need it to talk, but what is it for? it doesnt do anything other than say
"ill consider that for u"
or
"what are the ingridients"
I don't know what you've said to him but he only recognizes english atm
She's speaking now!!!!!!1111
Good !
And the French version please ?
I like !
Can it recognize german?
No it's english only at the moment. But I may add other languages in the future
I've tried other "assistants" and they always have that robot "Moon Accent" as Peter Griffin says.
This the same or no?
Yeah sure its the Google TTS-Service.. Write another one frome scratch would take years.
Woow cool its faster than Iris and it has a better chatbot. Keep on your great work.
all i could get her to say was Hi. She would say nothing more.
how should this work? i cant do anything in the app. it only says hi and thats it, cant click the mic or anything. do i miss something?

I prefer speaktoit, a more complete option.
https://market.android.com/details?...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zcGVha3RvaXQuYXNzaXN0YW50Il0.
I tried Iris, and it is decent but it needs a lot of work.
I found this one on the market and it is way better than iris, and a lot closer to siri.
https://market.android.com/details?...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zcGVha3RvaXQuYXNzaXN0YW50Il0
If you download this text to voice engine,
https://market.android.com/details?...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zdm94LmNsYXNzaWMiXQ..
and then try a different voice,
https://market.android.com/details?...XNzaWMubGFuZ3BhY2suZW5nX3VzYV9mZW1fdHJpYWwiXQ..
it sounds a lot less like a robot voice. (unlike the android default)
Be sure to change the default Text To Voice engine and pick the voice you installed for it to work.
This voice assistant is much more interactive, will call, text, schedule appointments, add reminders to a notebook (internally or in evernote) ,and much more. I really like it, amazing app! Just wanted to share my findings, hope you like it as much as I do.
Thanks I'll give this a shot after I get home from work! I tried the iris alpha earlier and it was a little disappointing for me.
gonna try this out. Thanks for the heads up.
Yep, I'd love to hear what others think about it. So far, it has really impressed me.

so far i like Iris more. Maybe this will grow on me. I usually just ask it stupid, nasty questions to get a funny response that has nothing to do with the question anyways. lol
I wast really impressed with iris, siri is very well developed and works amazing on the iphone. i think thats the first compliment ive ever given any iphone, lol
---------- Post added at 06:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:53 PM ----------
Im curious to see how this one compares
try Voice Actions, its full featured and really well made, Kicks Siri's but in a heart beat!:
https://market.android.com/details?...sImNvbS5wYW5ub3VzLnZvaWNlLmFjdGlvbnMuZnJlZSJd
The devs call it now Jeannie.
Sorry, I tried the one from the OP, and it was terrible. Didn't find one thing I asked, even with the new TTS engine. I'm sticking with Vlingo.
"Jeannie" ("Voice Actions") is the best alternative available.
However, the free TTS voices available all sort of suck.
I really want someone to make a HAL 9000 voice library. I don't even know if is possible to sample the sounds from the lines used in the movie, break that into individual letter sounds and build a voice library, but that would be cool.
I must try this and then slap my friend that got the new iphone
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I have to say, I've tried Voice Actions, and it doesn't compare for the things I want to be able to ask.
With speaktoit assistant, ask about your daily agenda or schedule, and you actually get your agenda for the day and tomorrow.
I asked the same question to Voice Actions and it showed me the back end of a dairy cow... wtf?
To be fair, there is a flood of siri clones and each one has strengths and weaknesses. They will only continue to get better and better. I am going to keep voice actions, iris, and speaktoit assistant and see which one develops the fastest.
Has anyone purchased voice actions pro? Any better than the free version?
Certinly is better than iris. Once its trained.
Iris v Speektoit v Vlingo
Vlingo Virtual Assistant
I have been using Vlingo and compared to Iris and Speektoit Assistant the voice recognition and functionality are great! The U.I is far better than the opposing two as well. Just a thought and something to check out in the future..!
Works pretty nicely
Using Jeannie with IVONA https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ivona.tts and download an alternative accent.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
if you use "voice actions" / "jeannie" you should download the SVOX tts pack and voices, makes it soo much more enjoyable. plus they are customizable.
I'm contemplating either to buy SVOX or IVANA. IVANA in my experience is much nicer sounding and the pronunciation is better. I'm just waiting to see that cost of it once it's out of beta.

Hello,
Is it possible to set Google Now Hotword Detection to be ALWAYS ON?
I would like to ability to quickly use Google Now by saying "Google" anywhere, any apps, any phone state. Currently, it's only avail at the Google Now homepage.
Thanks!

I've been trying to find hotword modifying myself... After all if this is always on the word Google is a little common around my office.
I'm also wondering if is possible to kick on voice activation from a remote key press like a USB keyboard.
