Just flash everything all over again.
You can not have root and a stock kernel.

Your data should remain intact.
Flash everything over it.
Just use HOME_CSC version, not the other CSC file.
If you're so concerned with losing your data... consider backing it up first even with Flashfire just in case you want to go back to root.

So guys a noob question here: If i flash a stock firmware through Odin would it erase my data? Or would it work like Kies or OTA?
A one part/single file firmware shouldn't (I did this two nights ago & it didn't), if you flash a 3 part firmware w/CSC it will.

stock firmware for s4 come usualy with a single pda package to put in odin.
it wont delete your data.
but i strongly recommend to backup your data to your pc before flashing in case you need to wipe the device after flashing if it stuck in a bootloop

Well essentially. ...data doesn't get deleted...but there are some instances that...when you flash an odin stock firmware...the phone will start up and get stuck on the boot screen ....in those instances...you need to boot into the recoveey mode and clear all user data....that will definitely delete all your files in the internal memory. ..so back it up...and proceed

Hi Everyone.
Ok, So my phone was on Stock MJ1, Rooted with Kingo (Knox 0x0) and I had Xposed tweaks. (Its the 900W8)
I was screwing with the BUILD.PROP file and changed the value of dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=128m to 124
Now I have a bootloop!
Please help!
Is there a way to re-insert a backup of my build.prop file into root? Maybe with ADB or something?
I dont want to wipe my phone or trip knox and I dont know what to do.
Im completely stuck.

You are basically hosed. You will have flash a stock system.img and cache.img.
ADB won't be active in a bootloop.
You could try flashing a zip with just the right build.prop in it. I don't know if and how that's possible though, but I think it is.

Is it possible to flash the original build.prop using the stock recovery like Macbreq suggested?
If not, then if i trip my knox and put cwm on it could i flash it them or is my cache damaged too much to boot?
If i can only recover the way you suggested, how do i do this?
Put it in download mode and flash MJ1 stock rom with ODIN...
You shouldn't loose all your stuff and it will just need to be rooted again... Easy...

OK, if its stock go to recovery mode. It will tell you your CSC code at the bottom of the screen...
Then try sammobile.com to find your stock rom.If you can't find there you might have to try searching further afield but I don't know where, sammobile generally has what I want.
If you can't find any way to do this you may need to do an emergency firmware recovery by Kies 3 BUT you will loose all data... You will have a working phone though. Just remember that Kies 3 will upgrade to the latest firmware thats out so if you have root and an old bootloader and a new firmware is out with the anti-root firmware you will trigger Knox to get root back...

Thanks, The Csc code says: RWC so I guess I can use any RWC MJ1 firmware...
BTW, I dont know if its just samsung, but can I not just flash my old build.prop using stock recovery?
It also gives an Apply update from ADB in recovery... Is it possible without reflashing this way?

I wouldn't, any thing goes wrong its likelier to trigger Knox, especially as you are playing around with download mode. Personally I'd just reflash the firmware and move on from there...

Thank you! I did exactly what you said and you where 100% correct.
Just in case anyone suffers a bootloop from screwing around, this is a perfect solution.
I found my Stock firmware from here :
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N900W8
I Flashed it and everything booted without tripping knox and my stuff was all intact! It just put stock overtop.
All I had to do was re-root, re-install my mods and delete the bloat again... 20min later I was back where I started.
If anyone wants a tutorial on how to do this this, go here:

Hi, I would like to ask you guys if the device can be unroot after it has been rooted with Towelroot?
I heard many people said about using SuperSU to remove the root.
However, I am not sure if the unroot process is safe and be able to give me a full warranty back.
Thank you.

I've unrooted my s5 before and it wasn't hard. Just flash an unroot pda with Odin. Saves all your data. But I think it will trip the Knox counter, so It'll void your warranty. So I'm not 100% sure if you'll be able to keep your warranty

Dude, what advice is this? :crying: Flash an unroot PDA? What do you mean with that?. Just unroot from within the superSU app, flash a stock rom and do a data factory reset. Takes about 5-7 minutes if done correctly.

I have tried the method and everything works.
My device is now unrooted.
No KNOX trip after flash stock rom with odin.
The device status is official too.
Thanks!
Still a bit confused
Confused is my normal state...
In Super User the only options I have are for OTA survival and for temp unroot.
To unroot would I only need to select the temp unroot option then go into the S5's settings and do a factory reset (under the backup/restore selections) or would I temp unroot with superuser, then go into Odin (on my pc) and flash a factory rom?
With the Odin option of doing this,if it is necessary, where can I get the factory rom for Version's S5 for this process?
I just unrooted using SuperSu's full unroot option and wiped cache from the stock recovery and boom. Worked for me.

Thanks klacenas, Where/how did you wipe the cache "from the stock recovery"? Also as an aside... did this cause you to lose any apps or files (photos, music, txt files type stuff) when you did the unrooting?
Sorry to be a pain.

By Unrooting only, you will not lost any of your personal data that stored on your phone. However when you do factory reset, your personal data that stored on the phone will be lost.

Hello, is there a way to bypass a lockscreen of the galaxy s4 intl jfltexx without losing data, usb debugging is not enabled and doesnt have CWM installed and is NOT rooted.
If none of that is possible, is there a way to install CWM without losing any data?
Thanks in advance!

Do I lose any data by doing this? No apps, no files, no texts, I don't lose anything?

Another thing I'd like to add: the phone is not rooted
first, you forgot your pass, or pattern lock?
if you want to flash cwm or any other recovery, u need to root you're phone first
once is rooted you'll have a rooted phone, with stock rom and you don't lose any data
but if u want to flash any custom rom, u need a full wipe, and you'll lose everything

■You can flash philz.
Download Odin. Download Philz.
Put your phone in download mode and connect your phone.
Once you see a yellow trigger in odin, press the PDA part and select the philz recovery .md5/.tar and flash. You shall loose nothing.
■Use a memory card reader to put deknox script in it and flash.
■Reroot via philz.
■Then download the latest binaries and flash it.
You will have a working superuser.
Now carry on

Incorect.
You don't need to be rooted to have a custom recovery. Root and a custom recovery are two complete independant things.
Just flash the custom recovery true Odin and that's all you need to do.
You can do multiple things. Google for "bypass lockscreen kitkat" and you will get plenty of results.

Back when I was rooted on NCG then decided to go to NHA I flashed the NE9 factory tar and it did not wipe my data. I wanted a fresh start so I did a factory data reset as well. So I would do a reset and flash before selling the phone if it were me. Using the pit file while flashing may wipe all, it should as it is re-partitioning, but I can't attest to that with no personal experience doing such.
