Since I set new pin I can't set it to no password. It says "turned off by administrator encryption storage or credential storage". Clearing certifications doesnt help.
Type 5 times wrong pin, then you should be able to disable it by typing additional password you've set before.

I can get into phone but I can't disable password. The option "no password" is gray and it's described - "turned off by administrator encryption storage or credential storage"
Strange. I have the same problem. I've just tried to unlock with wrong pattern till 30 seconds blokade. After this time I used PIN instead. It disabled pattern lock and set password to None. The option is still grey/disabled but there is no password and swipe lockscreen only. After swipe unlock, statusbar shows message "Secure screen lock needed". Crazy. Then I set pattern and the message is still here.
After restart it reverted to the previous state - Password None is grayed out. I use pattern. The message has gone.

It started on B574. Maybe an app messed up something. I tried some privacy solutions at that time.

Try Settings > Advanced > Security > Device Administrators. Then deactivate or mark everything as 'Inactive' here.
Doesn't work. Nothing active is there.
Advanced settings>> security>> clear credentials ...

Any one know how to completely disable the default SE lock screen.
I never use it, but it some times pops up unannounced over 3rd party lock screens. like lock bot pro, or WP7 lock.
Iv tried "No lock" and "No lock screen" applications, but it still occurs.
Anyone know any .xml hacks or anything to disable it fully ?
You can disable it with Widgetsoid2.x
Tried that it still keeps creeping up.
Id rather just permanently disable it.
But have no idea how.
No lock
I tried "No Lock", but isn't working with exchange.
I am with Xperia Neo 2.3.3

I am whit Xperia NEO 2.3.4 and EXCHANGE
Can't disable the default lock screen.
No PIN lock and exchange - email
Everything is so simple. Why nobody don't tell my.
1 - remove all Accounts from Email dependent with MS Exchange.
2 - from Settings/Location&security/Select device administrators, remove email (exchange)
3 - from Settings/Location&security/set up screen lock, select none ( no pin, no pattern, no .....)
4 - then install "Enhanced Email" from market and use it instead of detault email client for all accounts.
Enjoy !?!

No matter what you do and whatever email client you use, if the email client fully supports MS Exchange then it will prompt for password to get into the email program (minimum) and the setting is from Exchange server and not at the client end.

Yes. You are right, but is not necessary to enter the PIN, every time when I UNLOCK the screen.
Is there a way to change/remove pattern attempts limit on a CM10 Defy+?
Or at least add mobiledata/wifi toggles in power menu?
Please, don't post here any solutions when the phone is actually locked. I'm past that.
PS: "verify your google account online" without the ability to turn on mobiledata/wifi was the most retarded android-thing that has ever happened to me -_-
Hi guys! First time posting here and would like to request for some assistance regarding my problem with the new Kitkat 4.4.2 update. As the title suggests, ai can't get to select other screen lock options, aside from the "Secured with Password". Swipe, signature and pattern options are greyed out, as shown in the attached pic. How can I reactivate the other passlock options? Entering only the password is too much hassle for me. Thank you very much?
Don't ask me, because I don't know why, but it's like that and that's the way it is.

Ok. Thanks for uplifting my spirits up. Anymore people out there to help with my problem?
cmon, it even tells you why you cant use the other options. cant you even try to google it ?
turned off by administrator, blah blah blah...
Either you have encrypter your phone, or you have exchange mail service or the device admin disabled it(as it already says)
Whenever my location is on, and I go to put it off, everytime Secure Folder screen comes up and asks for authentication.
Before authentication I get a popup saying
"No Location access
Device location for all apps is turned off, and you may not be able to locate your device if it's lost."
I don't know why it is happening all of a sudden, I don't even remember any changed settings.
Can someone please help
Same here.
Same here. Really frustrating. I currently uninstalled it because of this bug...

Search for 'Device Administrators' (or just 'administrators') in settings, and turn off 'Secure Folder'. This is a built in feature of the rom, wherein secure folder is added as a device administrator by default and it will ask for location every time.

This did not resolve my issue. Secure Folder was not a device administrator.
Problem solved!

I did what linom suggested and it turns out Lookout was the issue! I have T-Mobile and it comes pre-installed on new devices as far as I've seen but I'm not sure if other mobile carriers do the same. They had updated Lookout recently and it looks like there was a "better missing device functionality" that may have been added or changed or something. It was the only one that was checked off as a device admin and I turned it off. Problem was immediately solved. Weird that it was triggering the secure folder to open but this definitely fixed the issue.

Did you add any app in the secure folder that requires location access? Check the permissions for each app. Also, try uninstalling and reinstalling it again as a last resort. Maybe its a bug. I am not able to replicate the issue. Can you share a screen grab?

I hadn't added any apps but I did notice some Samsung apps in secure folder required location permission so I revoked. Let's see if that fixes it
Nope still was happening. I uninstalled secure folder

Okay, so when I try to to lock some files, I get a log message "A lock must be set before you lock any files". Then I go about to set a password, but it says I am entering the wrong content lock password as if though I have forgotten it.
Is there a default password? If not, it must be a bug because it is promoting me to set a password but then it seems like I have already set one, which I do not remember. Should I factory reset my LG? What if it doesn't fix the problem?
Any clarification would be appreciated
