Phone freezes even on recovery? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I got a friend's Moto X Pure which as he tells me just stopped working. It was last running AICP 7.1, the phone freezes on the Motorola logo, and when you try to boot to recovery it freezes on the TWRP logo.
I flashed a new recovery over fastboot, still freezes.
Any idea what could be the issue here? Thanks!

Did he or u do a an official backup through I think called adb or fastboot? From the computer.

No, I've downloaded the stock firmware and I'll try to flash it through fastboot to see what happens.

Have you tried just booting TWRP with 'fastboot boot recovery.img' instead of flashing and starting it? (replace recovery.img with the name of your TWRP image file)

Hi everyone i flashed kings marshmallow hydrogen os but i didnt like it so i reverted back to my blisspop via nandroid backup. Unfortunately I am know stuck at the oneplus boot screen with the oneplus logo in the middle and the powered by android logo at the bottom. I am unable to boot into twrp. I was able to boot into fastboot mode and managed to flash twrp recovery however the phone will not load into recovery and goes to the oneplus boot screen. Bottom line i can boot into fastboot mode. device manager on my pc recognizes phone as android device- marshall london bootlooder interface any suggestions?
If you can Boot to Fastboot you have a softbrick. Somewhere around here is a thread for the recovery tool with the qualcom drivers. Read carefully and maybe give it a try.

Stucking 1+ logo is because having unsupported recovery from system... After you did restore did you got any error...
Get both recoveries and try command
fastboot boot recoveryname.img
One of them has to boot. Youre doing something wrong

HELP

Wanted to flash a new ROM, so did a full wipe. Now when I tried to flash the ROM it says need twrp 3.1.x
So rebooted into fastboot and flashed latest twrp.
Now I can't reboot to recovery also NO OS too.
Tried the manual method holding power+volume up it just boots up gets stuck in bootlogo.
Any kinda help would be appreciated.
You know you can just do fastboot boot (blabla).img, right?
All you need is to put your phone into fastboot and the fastboot tool that you get when downloading adb.

I'm not sure I do it the way google suggests with fastboot commands and phone in bootloader mode. If your way involves a computer just as easy to do it the proper way. ?
i am fairly new to this, i use fastboot flash recovery to install twrp. once twrp is installed i drag and drop the rom and gapps to the phone on my pc. here is what i get when i try to flash the boot loader. i must be using the wrong command.

Can't install TWRP on OP6T

Hi - I am trying to reinstall TWRP on my OP6T after upgrading to OOS 10.3.0.
I am running Minimal ADB and Fastboot v1.4.3 on my Win10 PC. I have connected my phone to my PC, and entered Fastboot mode. The OP6T is detected when I do a fastboot devices command.
Next, I try doing a temporary Recovery Mode boot into TWRP with a fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-1-fajita.img command. This is where I run into a problem ... While the Minimal ADB and Fastboot window says that the TWRP image was sent to the OP6T, I am still stuck on the Fastboot screen, and the phone is locked up and doesn't reboot the image.
What is going wrong?

Thanks, @jp0469! This helps a lot!
Just to be clear (and to get to a successful conclusion without a bricked phone), I won't be installing a TWRP installer ZIP file after booting into this TWRP image (The old style method), but instead installing the same TWRP IMG file as a "Recovery RAM Disk", correct?

Need a little more info before you proceed.
I know you said that you're currently on Android 10.3.0
Are you rooted with Magisk? If not, are you planning on rooting?

I was rooted with Magisk, but that got lost when I did the 10.3.0 update. Definitely planning on TWRPing and rooting again, as long as it's safe.

Stick to good old ones...
Once booted in twrp via fastboot flash the installer zip. It has always worked and will always. Always latest version. And flash Magisk after.

Put the latest Magisk zip and TWRP installer (zip file) on your phone's internal memory if you don't already have them there. Now you can fastboot boot the TWRP img file (Q version). Next flash the TWRP zip to permanently install TWRP into recovery. Reboot back to recovery to make sure it worked and then flash Magisk to re-gain root.
Reboot
Thanks, guys - The only reason I asked about the alternate "RAM Disk" method was because it was listed as the installation method by the developer on the link that @jp0469 provided earlier.
I'll try the old-fashioned method, since y'all say that it works OK.

I always install the latest directly from Google. There is a link on this page to the latest version of Windows ADB and Fastboot. Just unzip the file you download into a directory of your choice.
Everytime I try to boot twrp It says waiting on device. What's that mean

After doing the fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-30-fajita-Q-mauronofrio.img in Fastboot Mode, I installed twrp-3.3.1-30-fajita-installer-mauronofrio.zip in the booted TWRP Recovery Mode, and everything is working fine again.

TWRP overwrite my ROM?!

Hi I had LOS19.1 installed running quite well. I wanted Magisk, so I went to the TWRP website, selected my device, and downloaded latest
twrp-3.7.0_12-1-cheeseburger_dumpling.img
at https://dl.twrp.me/cheeseburger_dumpling/ ...
Booted into fastboot mode, renamed the img to twrp.img, then per the instructions I did...
$ fastboot flash recovery twrp.img this took a minute
$ fastboot reboot
Then when I tried to reboot into recovery it would show the TWRP loading screen for like 30 seconds and phone would shut off... Tried again and same...
Frustrated I thought I would try the oldfashion way and try to boot into the image...
$ fastboot flash boot twrp.img
Same thing happened again with the TWRP loading screen. But it wont boot into the OS now... I got to fastboot and selected START, starts the TWRP loading and powerdown again.
Oh **** did I just overwrite my ROM install? What do I do?
you know the difference between recovery and boot partition? restore the backup of boot.img

Im assuming boot has to do with booting the OS or bootloader... You mind commenting your thoughts on my mistake and what I should do?
on your second attempt, you flashed recovery into boot partition. you need to restore the boot.img now, otherwise you will boot into TWRP every time.
