Could be a clever name for a new app though.

Yes, I meant what's app.
I wish I could change a topic.

I mean I disabled heads up notifications bc WhatsApp uses it and it was so annoying. I only see them in the second screen if it's like a 2nd or 3rd message. the first message always just shows up in my notification bar.

Thank you for your help. I assume that you have no problems with notifications.
It's funny because notifications works only when I open what's app and stop eorking 10 min later.
I have no clue why. Could please sand me a pict of you notification screen.
BTW... Are you using custom ROM? Or stock?. Im on tilde v3. Very snappy deodex/debloated rom witx excellent battery.
Thx again

I'm stock, but I'm wondering if it's dozing WhatsApp real hard in yours or something so it doesn't refresh until you to into the app. you using greenify or anything?

Mms comes as a slideshow

I know I've seen this discussed before but I can't find it. Pictures always come as a slideshow instead of just a picture. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to change that, or if I can. Anyone have any input? Thanks
I thought that was just the way it worked on this phone. You mean you can have pictures just display as pictures? tell me more!
Heh. Seems random on mine. Sometimes they come as a slideshow and sometimes as just a picture. Maybe it has to do with the phone or carrier it comes from? No idea.

not really sure if the carrier, or the phone.
i've got a friend that sends me pics from her iPhone, and from her specifically, they sometimes come as one, sometimes the other.
might have to do with filesize?
Weird stuff, its not abig deal...a little annoying though
Since we are on this topic, why do long texts get split up, I was on tmobile and it never did that, I figured it is network related

CDMA (Sprint and Verizon) has a 160-character limit. T-Mobile and AT&T are GSM.
Well, from reading, everyone has a 160-character limit, but many GSM phones just allow you keep writing and it'll split them into separate 160-character messages on the receiving handset. Many phones now just split it automatically, regardless of network, such as our EVOs.
I'm not really all that well-versed on these technologies. Just a stab in the dark here!
Makes sense, I don't know much about either

Actually my experience has been that it ONLY happens on Sense.
Interesting, I wonder if it is just a sense ui 'flaw'. Have you used an aosp rom and not had it happen?

On CyanogenMod, if someone sends me a single image, it just comes as a picture. I click it, it opens, and I can look at it until I'm done. Which is nice, because I don't have to try to soak it all in in 5 seconds before the one-slide slide show ends! But if someone sends me multiple images at once it is still a slideshow.
That makes sense, maybe ill try a different ron, I've been lookin at vaelpak's latest.

Well the thing is the for some reason HTC did that as feature.like people say but if you tap on the image then look down there is a pause button to see the pic for longer l

LightFlow discussion

I remember recently that there was an alternative to LightFlow being featured somewhere (forget if it was XDA or Reddit or somewhere else).
Does anyone remember it? I believe it was a bit more lightweight than LF.
EDIT: Decided to make this the general Nexus 5 LightFlow thread since that's what it pretty much became.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I could find and try this one only.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
But eventually I moved back to light flow because it works better for me in KitKat.
I prefer light flow. I like being able to set it to dismiss the light as soon as I turn my screen on. Quickest way to get the light to stop blinking.

How about getting the led to be always on?
I've always liked it better than pulsing, and set it up like that in the Galaxy Nexus, but can't get it to work on the N5 yet.
is it worth having root mode on as well ?

I see the very first app i ever purchased on the android market for my old N1 is still getting updates (sept 2013).... TrackBall Alert Pro... also Trackball Alert..
updates say it will work with any trackball (hah i miss that thing) and RGB LED.. from what i remember it was a pretty minimal app that let you choose colours/flash rate/etc...

There's an option in each notification under the "light" tab for "LED flash rate" for "always on / very slow pulse". I have it that way for when my phone is charging.

So damn annoying. I hate that awful floating blob call timer. It makes me hate LG even though I really like the G4. Just today it was covering up the navigation directions while I was driving and I missed my turn!!

That's not it.
Every time this issue comes up people keep talking about the check box for the incoming call popup. That has nothing to do with it. Look at the picture in the original post. There is a floating blob of a call timer when you multi task on any call.
I think he was offering a solution to the other guy's issue. Not yours
This was on the G3, but could be removed with root, xposed, and G3 tweakbox. Until then nothing you can do..

You could just move it out if the way of your directions....

The G2 had a feature to remove the floating dialer. I do find it useless since the notification shade HAS all the same controls. THAT option in the dialer is actually the little floating popup that allows you to ANSWER or IGNORE that floats over apps. With it disabled, you will get the full screen phone app on incoming calls.

Wherever I move it, it just blocks something else. It starts out by default toward the upper left. So when I switch apps to navigation, it is right there and I was expecting to see my turn direction. Couldn't move it in time since I was driving.

Disabling the Highlight Reel feature in the Moto Gallery

Hey all,
Just curious if anyone knows how to get rid of the highlight reel feature in the Moto gallery. I hate it and the annoying notification about my 80s-techno videos of my huge |×?¶`¶ being ready to watch is frustrating. Does anyone know of a way to disable this feature?
Currently I've circumvented it by using a different gallery app - Piktures. Just thought I'd ask in case anyone had the answer.
Thanks all,

I saw how lacking it was too and just D/L icons from Google that I liked since you can choose your own image for any icon. Its a lil tedious but you can really do some customization
I just Googled Camera Icon & chose something I liked.
Hope it helps
Thanks for the tip, at the time I'm using nova and icon packs from the play store
NP at all, I run Nova in my truck on my Note 4 via a Mimicsx2 module and it's customization is paramount.
V20 I only need to swap a few uglys out.
You can use QuickShortCutMaker or AppShortCutMaker to change Icons for stock launcher too without any other launcher!!
To set the new icon, you have to be sure that there is place for it on the homescreen!!!
