Hi!
Just tried this game and the performance is horrible, it lags like hell. I got the exynos varriant, running Nougat beta3.
It's a fairly expensive mobile game with only 80 downloads (Germany). With such a small user base your chances of being heard by Codemasters are big. Go ahead and file a report on both ends. Samsung and Codemasters that is.

I bought the Idol 3 4.7" because I wanted the smaller form factor, but I returned it because the Snapdragon 410 is just not strong enough for me. Multi-tasking between even basic apps like email and calendar would stutter and drop framerate and that's kind of a dealbreaker for me.
I'm thinking about trying the 5.5" but I'm afraid the octo-core isn't isn't gonna be much faster since its clock speed is only 300mhz higher than the Snapdragon 410.
So Idol 3 5.5" owners, are you satisfied with the 8 core processor? Is there any noticeable framerate drop or stuttering switching between apps, and if so, which apps stutter the worst?

My experience (own 4 idol 3s - each given to different family members and I once in a while "test" them out) if you are going to have low/moderate apps and background noise then is fine and smooth. If your going to load that thing up (like me) you will see micro lags.

Hopefully once we have some custom rom's or more importantly some custom kernels we will be able to adjust the speed up to the rated 1.7ghz and try some schedulers/io schedulers we don't have now so performance will pick up some.

After the last update I haven't anything but positive things about the 5.5's performance. So in total two updates now.

Update UD71 10 06 fixed the sluggishness of the phone (before that I was on the brink of selling it)
It went from 5/10 to 8/10 in my personal rating and would suggest the phone.
I had a s6 edge and I'd say the speed difference between the two was negligible and the Samsung is 3x more expensive
The speed of the cores is not the issue, its the weak GPU that makes it lag. Navigation around the UI is tolerable but trying to game on anything but casual titles has frame drops. I kept my i3 over Zen 2 for the simple fact the speakers blow anything out of the water and it does everything else "competently".
I'm pretty much satisfied with the Snapdragon 615, coming from a chinese phone with 1 GB RAM and an MT6582 chip (also from a Nexus 7 2012). I find everything extremely smooth.
I haven't rooted it yet, No TWRP recovery, I just have whatsapp and telegram installed, for everything else I use Chrome. Games are pretty smooth to me, even the DS Emulator.
What I find lackluster is camera performance, too much noise even on good light conditions. Maybe it's the stock camera's fault.

What are your camera settings? Performance should be fine at ISO 100-200
Performance UPDATE 9/28/15
As of today, Alcatel has released a new performance update for the Idol 3. Overall performance has improved. More info here: http://www.androidcentral.com/alcatel-pushes-update-55-inch-idol-3-performance-fixes-and-more
I'm considering getting a new phone and was really hoping the huge performance increase in CPU has helped PPSSPP. I have a SD 810 phone and it's basically unplayable because it throttles down. I specifically would like to know how midnight club 3 dub edition runs, daxter, gran turismo. I've searched the web for a good emulation review of S7 but can't find one.
I play a LOT of PPSSPP therefore i believe i can give u the answer you looking, but PPSSPP does NOT work on GS7 atm, there is a workaround though.
It will crash many times, but eventually it will work, it might take 10 tried 20 or even 2, as far as performance it's a disaster, all GS7 and sammy devices with 6.0.1 suffer from performance bug related to games, S7 too.
However if u rooted u can set governor to performance and unleash the full might of the phone, then it runs perfect(Tekken 6 in my case).
Oh wow okay just bad software then right now? Does tekken run full speed?
yes tekken ran on 60fps on note 5, but it much better on S7 though it lags from time to time, but that due some ppsspp updates, it supports vulkan so it might get better.
Another thing you might wanna try if u rooted, is disabling DVFS, that thing throttles the phone very fast, but if u disable it, ui performance will be bad.
I bought Nokia 6 yesterday and I was really satisfied with the phone but I faced 2 issues with this phone
1- Games runs too slow
2- NO NOTIFICATION LIGHT
I was wondering if the FPS drop can be fixed in Oreo..
From an SD 430 don't expect too much performance in intensive games, for me this is not an issue, because i didn't game on a phone, for gaming i have PC.
And about no notification light, im with you,why the hell they remove it from global version ? Its not a big deal anyway, you can check your phone at random intervals,so this dosen't get me mad overall,Nokia 6 its a good phone and its more than enough for me,i only use this smartphone for calls, messages, surfing the internet, social apps, some shots with camera, and listen to music, belive me it doing well,+ keep in mind that the nokia will offer us clean android + fast updates, and this is amazing.
Try vulkan based games like need for speed no limit and vulkan ppspp emulator for run Tekken 6 ....
In mine all games running smoothly ..
I've been playing PUBG Mobile for a while now and wanted to ask you how you find the performance on our Samsung S8.
When I had Android Nougat it really sucked (a problem that shouldn't happen, because of the great potential of our phone). However, now that I have Android Oreo I can play normally and without problems, but I still find that I should run better because I have seen it installed in cell phones of lower capacity and have more fluidity.
Someone who plays it and knows some trick to get 100% potential out of our S8?.

check what's running in the background that may cause hickup, look out for memory usage
I have an S8+ with the google wiz rom (It erased about 300 apps and has some optimizations) and I still feeling that my phone doesn't run the game as fluid as it should be
mine S8+ still has nugget. haven't received update yet. all the other apps and games run fine except PUBG, it freezes then restarts.
Mine s8 doesn't support hdr graphics and ultra frame rates in pubg
Hello
I have an s8 with custom pie ( hades rom ), max setting are hd and high fram rate, while rooting and removing all bloatware etc...
Just download gfx tools there is a paid and free version, i played it on smooth graphics 60 fps no lag at all, remember that internet speed plays a big role.
Hi, I know this is super late but what I've found about gaming on the s8 is that there is absolutely nothing that will affect the performance of the phone or your experience of the game more than thermal throttling. I tried for weeks to fix my lag problems with all kinds of kernel tweaks, network teaks, getting rid of background processes and trying to keep my ram free and was totally stumped until I realized just how much my cpu was being supressed by thermal throttling. Download GameBench to get an overlay of your in game frames per second (you should be able to get a constant 60 fps no problem until the throttling sets in) and get Simple System Monitor to monitor your thermal sensors and cpu frequencies. You should start to see an immediate correlation between your fps drops and your and clock speeds and temperatures. If your phone is rooted you can use Kernel Adiutor to set your cpu govoner to performance (it just locks your cpu at max clockspeed). This will make the throtting very easy to see in simple system monitor because you can see how your max clock speed is gradually stepped down as thermal engine overrides the govoner.
Now for the fix. If your S8 is a exynos you are a lucky b***ard and you can probably find a software solution for disabling thermal throttling like with a custom kernel or by editing a few system files. If your stuck with a locked bootloader like I am on the snapdragon s8 than the only solution is to actually keep your phone cool while gaming. I use ice packs wrapped in a paper towel. They only last about 30-40 mins so you may need several ice packs and keep them in rotation. Whatever cooling solution you use just make sure its not too extreme or too sudden as rapid changes in temperature are not great for electronics. That's why I use a paper towel as a bit of a buffer between the phone and the ice pack. Works great for me and I maintain 60 fps all game.
Game play is really horrible and i am disappointed with it. I am using latest april firmware(Indian version) and pubg mobile (v 0.12 global). Does samsung even care about this as it has been over a month now.I am having super fast and stable internet connection and phone is not in any power saving mode.

This has been stated multiple times by some youtubers... It isn't raw strength... even the kirin 980 with the same GPU with less cores delivers smoother gameplay with this specific game. It's a matter of optimization unfortunately.
You can wait for updates from Samsung/Game developers or wait for a good kernel with clock speed settings which should help.
Some or all of the options could take a while... :c
did you find solution
