G935U PI3 Firmware and Adoptable Storage on GS7E - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Has anyone tried to load the G935U PI3 Firmware AND tried to enable adoptable storage? I have a G935A on official PK1. I tried to enable adoptable storage but nothing happens. Further investigation reveals that either Samsung or AT&T removed the back end code to close the loophole and prevent us from enabling adoptable storage.
I know I'm able to possibly get it to work if I root, but I heard there are a lot of stability problems with the eng kernel. Plus, I heard that Samsung Pay stops working with root, and that's a deal breaker to me. So I would rather install G935U PI3 onto my G935A, but only if adoptable storage works.
Can someone please try this and let me know?
Thank you in advance.

Nobody responded so I took the plunge. I am happy to report that adoptable storage does work on PI3 G935U firmware on the G935A. It disappointing that AT&T decided to ask Samsung to completely remove adoptable storage from their official firmware.

I been running it without any issues on a 64gb sd split 50/50.

A lot less of 32GB storage on new S910F.

Hi.
I finally could change my other Note 4 as it was giving problems (Rooted). This time i wont root.
The problem im having is with the Interal Storage being much less than the advertised. I updated firmware with Kies and all went fine.
From 32GB i got only 24GB.
Is it not too much 8GB for the Software and how can i delete some apps without root?
Thank you.
You can't delete system apps without root.
Unfortunately with root i keep getting reboots.
Shame cannot be solved. I used Chainfire Root but reboots are random.
Make sure you use a correct root file.
What is your device type and product name?
Unfortunately you can't free up any space without root. I also have 24gb free space, but I solved my problem with a 64GB sandisk Extreme Plus.
I gave up on rooting my SM-N910H using CF-Auto-Root, random reboots also. Back to stock until another rooting method comes out.
I did double check the file i used for rooting from Chainfire and all the steps as i did wiith the Note 3 i used but this time no luck. I read in forums people with same problem when rooting Note 4.
My phone is the European Free N910F (no Carrier phone company).

De-crypting Marshmallow encrypted MicroSD

Hi,
Lately, I got a Marshmallow update for my Moto X Play to which I upgraded and as I wasn't quite aware of the Encryption Policy for the same, I tried mixing my 64 GB Samsung MicroSD with my internal storage. It worked fine until I started having problems using the new Marshmallow upgrade. I decided to downgrade, did not bothered about decrypting the card before downgrading.
As soon as I downgraded the device to Lollipop, I found that I was no longer able to use the MicroSD in the same way I used to do it earlier. It was write protected and I was not able to decrypt in any way.
Googling didn't quite helped, and it looks like very few people have had similar problem.
Anyone having same issue? And any solution to this?
I think if you reformat the card you can start using it again, but you will lose all data.

Adoptable storage on Nougat?

Has anyone who was not on the Nougat Beta been able to get adoptable storage to work on Nougat?
A little back story: I was on the beta and the other night I got the small update to go to Nougat. Unfortunately something went bad and my phone was stuck on the white Sprint screen. I took it to a Sprint corporate store and they flashed Marshmallow back on it. I got home and the phone immediately updated to the full 1.4gb Nougat. I've tried the adb commands that used to work and it no longer works. My SD card only shows half of what it is, so the old adoptable storage is still there, but not recognized. I know I can use disk management in Windows to delete that partition, but thought I'd start a thread on it if/when someone figures out how to do it on Nougat.

How to flash OTA updates on unlocked AT&T Galaxy S7 without wiping out data?

Is anyone here knowledgeable about how to flash OTA updates without wiping out data? I've read that AT&T prevents software updates on phones that aren't using an active AT&T sim card, via the regular process. I've been doing the flashes manually and each time I need to completely reset the phone. Google backup and Samsung Smartswitch somewhat help with the process, but it's nowhere as robust as an iTunes iPhone backup. I still have to spend a good amount of time re-configuring apps.
FYI - my phone is not rooted.

I don't believe that's possible.

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling this was the case but wanted to double check on here anyways.
I have an AT&T S7 Edge that I am using with a Cricket SIM card. I can't get the OTA updates, and so wasn't able to update to Android 7. But the OTA update was posted here in the S7 Edge forum. I put the file on an SD card, booted into recovery and updated from the SD card. It worked just like an OTA... kept all my data intact. I don't know what's available for the S7, but I do know that it was possible to do on my S7 Edge.
Hope that helps!

I wonder if it's different for the Edge version. I did exactly what you did for last month's security update. Someone here posted the OTA file, I put it on a SD Card, then booted into recovery to apply it. After the reboot, everything was gone and I had to setup my phone again.

Rooting my phone then Unrooting S8

Solved the problem by repatching the firmware.
