After a week of head scratching and attempted process of elimination, I've finally figured out (or at least gotten closer to) the root cause of the Wi-Fi issue I have been experiencing on my Pixel XL 128.
What I noticed is that my speedtest (Ookla app) results were occasionally significantly lower than they should be. What they should be (when ISP bandwidth and WiFi link speed are not the bottleneck) is ~180 Mbps. This is what I would get consistently (say, 19 times out of 20) with my Nexus 6P. With my Pixel, I would rarely get ~180 Mbps and usually get between 100 and 130 Mbps. This is while the actual Wi-Fi link speed is 866 Mbps with excellent signal strength. Basically, standing next to the router. My first order was to rule out defective hardware so I performed a factory reset and immediately following I was now getting ~180 Mbps in speedtest app. Reinstalled my ~225 apps and Wi-Fi was still ~180mbps in speedtest. Few days go by and everything is still fine. Then, without warning and with no obvious change, the Wi-Fi speed drops back down to 130 Mbps or below. Nothing fixes it. Not soft rebooting. Not cold booting. Not resetting network to factory resetting. Not rebooting the router. Nothing. Then, I discover by accident that when the Pixel is charging the speed jumps back up to ~180 Mbps very consistently. I can actually watch the speed change in real-time if I unplug the power while the speed test is in progress.
So, I called Google about this and the tech reproduced the same exact behavior on his Pixel XL, which, frankly, amazed me. I mean, what are the chances that his download bandwidth max is 180Mbps just like mine? Anyway, I wasn't going to argue with him. Was just glad he reproduced the issue and said he is escalating it to level 2 engineering. He suggested a fix would be forthcoming in the next week but I'm not sure how he would know that.
Incidentally, I am running NPF26J.
I cannot remember if this issue was present in NDE63V.
Unfortunately, the issue is not fixed in NMF26O

Hmm ... I just tried turning Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning on and off (multiple combinations) and had no effect on my Wi-Fi speed test.
What effect did it have for you?

A 1mb file would take like 5 min to download from the play store but had no issues from a browser. Now it works fine from the play store. Some say it could be an issue connecting to 5GHz. http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/help/wifi-download-playstore-slow-t3485494/page4

Oh, OK. We have completely different issues then. A 1 MB file would take a fraction of a second to download for me even under the problem condition state. What I am seeing is that download rate drops from ~22 MB/s to ~15 MB/s when I take the phone off the charger. This should not be happening though because my Nexus 6P was always able to achieve 180 mbps (~22 MB/s) whether on the charger or not.
I can only envision this being either a hardware defect in my particular device or a bug in the network driver. Since nobody else seems to be reporting this, I'm starting to lean towards this being a defect in my Pixel XL.

I know but it seems no one has exactly the same wifi issue and some things work for some but not others. Never hurts to try everything we can.

Agreed.
I factory reset and now the problem is gone. So now I'm leaning towards a bug in the network stack.
Will post an update here when I have one.

So ... 2 days after the factory reset the problem has returned. Went to bed last night and the wifi speed was normal. Wake up this morning and the problem has returned. I have no explanation. It's as if the WiFi performance is on a timer that starts when you factory reset. There must be a software explanation for this but I'm having no luck with Google. They won't let me past tier 1 help desk that just offers to RMA the phone.

Just had a slight light-bulb moment while trying to think about what might have changed between last night @ 1 AM and this morning at 9 AM. Thinking back to the fact that the problem disappears when the charger is plugged in, so, having something to do with power, I remember that last night I ran the phone low enough for the automatic "battery saver" mode to kick in. Before last night and since the last factory reset I hadn't run it that low. So, I'm thinking (only theory at this point) that the "battery saver" mode does something to the wifi that does not get reversed when it comes back out of battery saver mode. I'll keep investigating down that line of thought. If I factory reset again (which I really hate doing since it takes me a solid 5 hours to get everything back to my working state) then I would disable the automatic battery saver mode and see if that prevents the problem from ever reoccurring.
They probably throttled the speed to use less power when unplugged so Wifi speed is slower when unplugged.

Well, we'll know in a week or so if it's device specific at least. Google is sending me a new one. If the problem reoccurs then at least there will be one less item in the process of elimination. If I find out anything new in the meantime I'll post it here.
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
So, I received my replacement Pixel XL 128 yesterday and I've already returned the "old" one. So far I'm not experiencing the WiFi performance issue on this new Pixel XL, however, in the past the issue has taken some days to develop following a factory reset. So, now we wait and see if the problem returns on this new Pixel XL. If it returns, we'll know it's a software issue. I'll post an update here when I have one.
Incidentally, and not related to the subject of this thread at all, the screen color calibration is ever so slightly different between this Pixel XL and my original Pixel XL. Specifically, the white balance is a little more to the warm side on this one. I understand that's par for the course with OLED screens though. Maybe over time the screen will change to be more like my original Pixel XL. It's nothing that bothers me too much, but I do prefer the color calibration more on my original Pixel XL.
Update:
Well, it's not a hardware issue. My brand new RMA Pixel XL 128 is exhibiting the EXACT same WiFi performance issue. It was fine for a few days and then yesterday the battery dropped low enough for battery saver mode to kick in. Now the WiFi performance is apparently permanently limited until / unless I perform a factory reset. Strange that more people aren't reporting this.

Pretty strange, but the reason why people probably aren't reporting it is they're most likely not performing constant speed tests on their phone. My connection at home is around 330 mbps. The WiFi is capable of achieving this speed as well, but when I speed tested my Nexus 5X sometimes it'd be less than that (like ~250). I chalked it up as weak battery powered radio bull****tery and then realized I'd never need that speed on my phone anyways lol.
As for this issue, it looks like you're onto something here and the fact that the Google tech was able to replicate this issue is even more intriguing. I hope they keep contact with you in regards to whether or not a fix has been found yet.

So I factory reset my replacement Pixel XL which as expected has restored the WiFi performance to the normal state. This time I have disabled the automatic enablement of battery saver mode. We'll see if this prevents the issue from reoccurring.
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Latest update - The problem has reoccurred, even with "battery saver" mode completely disabled. This is bizarre. I was pretty confident that as long as the phone never entered battery saver mode I would be in the clear. Now, about 3 or 4 days since my last factory reset, the problem has reoccurred for no apparent reason. I am at a loss. This morning the WiFi was performing optimally (no artificial 130 mbps ceiling), then I went to a family gathering, took a bunch of pictures and came home. Now the 130 mbps ceiling is back. What's also interesting is Comcast recently increased the speed of the internet connection. Before it was 180 mbps down. Now it's 230 mbps down. Just had to reboot the cable modem to get the update. However, the 130 mbps ceiling did not change. This means the performance limitation is not proportionate to the internet bandwidth. In other words, whether the internet pipe is 180 mbps, 230 mbps or 500 mbps, the Pixel XL will always be capped around 130 - 140 mbps once the issue kicks in. If I simply plug in the AC power to the Pixel, speedtest increases to 230 mbps. This is reproducible 20 times out of 20. Really hope Google fixes this at some point.

I've had my phone for about a week now(att unrooted) and experienced something very strange this morning. I fully charged the phone at around 5:30 last night and used he phone very moderately. At around 11:30 pm uploaded 3 photos on my google drive and the battery was 80-90%. Woke up this morning and the battery was dead. This is totally out of the ordinary because I never experienced this before even with my old and buggy captivate. Keep in mind that I was on wifi and the phone is not yet rooted. Has anyone else noticed anything like this?
That is strange. Honestly, I dunno what could cause it besides some random app that you installed.

Battery Calibrator won't do anything.
Install Better Battery Stats, and when your phone turns on after plugging it in, see what was using the most power. It won't work for the first time but will work in the future.
Even better uninstall ****ty apps and disable notifications on this like word with friends, scramble with friends, etc. Go into app manager and disable everything you don't use. Report back in a week.

I've had the phone for 5 days and gone through maybe 8 batt cycles. I'm not getting more than 2hrs screen time on any cycle. This is stupidly horrible battery life. There has got to be something severely wrong. I don't do much with the phone. I can't even with less than 2hrs to work with. Overnight batt loss is maybe 8%.
Any help is ENORMOUSLY appreciated.

Update
I was able to reproduce something similar. I opened up market\play to do a few updates and once the update process started, I put the phone down on my desk. Updates installed and the screen remained turned on. Now, I don't remember the exact steps or what other apps were running in the background. All I know is that the screen remained on for a few minutes until I manually turned it off.
This could very well be a bug in Samsung's face\image recognition software that handles smart stay. It might be a bug in google play, a faulty app or a combination of things... Because the battery on this phone is actually quite amazing. I unplugged my phone this morning, went to work, updated a bunch of apps, saved local maps to google maps, hung out on facebook, surfed the web... and after 10.5 hours, I still have more than 50% battery left.
That's a good indication that what I'm experiencing is a software glitch of some kind that if left un-attended, could completely drain your battery.
Try turning battery saver on and check pretty much everything in there. Disable smart stay. Manually turn off your screen when you're not using it. Turn off GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi when you're not using it. Some downloads hang in the Play store if you "update all"... cancel these and download them one at a time. Do not just assume it all went to plan.
These tips on combination with my first post should help. You should get 4 hours of screen time with some phone calls in a single charge. I find certain apps like Scramble with friends chug charge faster than things like reading xda. Chrome for instance on the PC is less battery friendly and more resources intensive than IE. Perhaps the same is true for the mobile version.
There are way too many variables for us to pick out what your underlying issue may be. Start eliminating things and we'll keep throwing out new ideas. Good luck!

I just posted a pretty good size list of apps that can be disabled. That helps save battery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740228
I have managed to narrow it down.
- I had 2 updates in market. I pressed update all.
- screen turned off when the first update was almost done.
- I pressed the power key and entered my pass to turn the screen on and left the phone on my desk.
- I kept seeing the smart stay icon, but the screen remained on.
- I moved phone without touching the screen...no change.
- held my hand over the camera at a distance of a few inches and the screen finally dimmed out.
This happened while google play had focus. This is a bug in smart stay or google play.
Somethings definitely up, this battery life is as bad if not worse than my epic 4g.
Did notice one thing... I cleared memory and it said 51 applications closed.... I don't even think i have that many applications on the phone!
Memory eats up a lot of power.

You're the second person I found that has the same problem as me! I can't even get 2hrs screen time through my day to day. The same day to day that my atrix was giving me 3.5hrs on.
I feel better knowing that I'm not doing something wrong, but could the phone just have that horrible of battery life and all these reports are a fanboi lie with review articles just copying each other?
I'm so glad im not the only one experiencing all of this! Lol, i upgraded from my mytouch 4G, i DID notice smart stay would come on at random times, sometimes when i wasnt even looking at my phone lol, disabled it & disabled a whole bunch of other crap & like many others & i dont get 4 hours screen time, more like 2 which sucks, id also like to have my data on all the time (but im forced to turn it off to save battery ), im rooted & ive uninstalled w.e crap i didnt need/want or felt it was just running for no reason. I'm doing the exact same battery steps i did with my mytouch & its sad =/ i was hoping i wouldnt have to do half of the ones im doing now, i LOVE my S3 but samsung needs to figure out wth is goin on & same with the guy who talked about if the articles r lying) i saw one on tech radar yesterday on battery life on the S3, they r either lying or they got a good phone in a good batch, smh, also experience my screen flickers from time to time while texting (i always close background processes) i notice blotches on the screen while texting at night or in the dark also, again i love my phone but u know, id love to have my data on constantly to check things quick without my battery going down drastically when i barely even touch it =/
I too have strange battery life. I usually leave my phone charging over night. When I unplug the battery in the morning, I lose about 10% every hour. However, when I get to around 80%, I recharge it again and it loses battery at a MUCH slower rate. Around 2% every hour on stand by. I'm not sure why this happens, but it does.
Also, there are some instances when I pick up the phone and it's pretty warm. Even though it's been sitting idle for about 20 min. Then there are times when I pick it up and it's normal room temperature. This leads me to believe that there are some processes going on while my phone is idle. I'm trying to find out what apps are causing this, as I believe it is causing my battery to drain while idle. It's very inconsistent, which is making it hard to track down. I don't even have a lot of apps installed. Most of it is actually the bloatware that came with my phone

I am starting to think it's ATT's LTE connection. I randomly have days where my battery won't make it until 5 pm without really using it very often. Other days, the phone goes all day with 4 hours plus of screen time no problem. On the really bad days, the phone will stay warm despite me closing every app with task manager. I am now experimenting with turning off mobile data (not a permanent solution), and the phone is cool to the touch again. It may be that the phone is burning up the battery in areas where the LTE connection is weak.

Mine did this as well I think it went up 3-4%.
I ordered the ZF2 from NewEgg when it released in the US.
I now had it for 4 days and generally feel good about the upgrade from a Nexus 5, but there are some things that really bother me with this phone:
1. Heat. This phone seems to heat up pretty bad when charging and doing something on the phone. When I just got it and was doing updates connected to power it actually gave out an error saying it overheated and needs to shut down.
2. Capacitive buttons are laggy. It takes about a second to register the press of the home button along with back and recent buttons. The Nexus 5 onscreen buttons so much faster.
3. The Zen Keyboard is laggy. Had to download and install the stock google keyboard.
4. Benchmarks are weak. Highest I got was 45k on Antutu. I have seen others getting over 48k. Its a minor gripe as the general performance is really good.
5. The plastic ridge that surrounds the screen seems to be very weak. It already has dings in it. Very sad about this.
6. Camera is not compatible with Hypwrlapse or ManualCamera app. I hope that those apps get updated and start supporting ZF2.
7. I don't know what's going on with this battery. Maybe its the apps that I have. But it feels weak. Woke up today at 8am. Its 5:30 now. I'm at 38% with 2 hours and 30 minutes screen on time.

1. Mine barely gets warm, and I have yet to see it get as warm as my G2 yet. It gets warm during charge but every device heats up during that process. Temps jump between 3x-4x℃.
2. I'm not having this issue, so not sure what the cause is.
3. The keyboard is smooth like the LG keyboard, and seems just as responsive as my N9 was.
4. I have the 2GB, so 42K seems to be the ceiling in antutu.
5. I've had mine for roughly a week and there aren't any signs of use on it, such as dings.
7. With my 2GB variant I reach ~2.5-3hrs for SOT at roughly 65-50%. I charge the battery to 85/80% and end up with 4-5hrs for SOT consistently. For me Android OS is really hurting battery performance.
"I'd Totally Hug You, If That Was Something I Did"
Something is seriously wrong with the battery of Zenfone 2, 550 ml. It automatically comes down to around 30% in 8-10 hours, even without any active use at all!
i was one who got early units of 550 ml...mines is performing very well......i dont have any issues too what so ever based on your reports above...standby time for 7 hours only reduce to 4 % batterry consumption for me....return your unit if its got warranty so you can sleep better
The battery and 5.0 are a problem. I've had wifi turned off for the past 3 days and the battery app is still reporting that wif is using 20-25% of the battery. The saving grace is standby which is outstanding. Left it off charge all night and it lost 8% in 11 hours. Once I start to use the phone the battery dies very quickly.

I have the ZF2 which I bought at initial launch from ASUS France. I can tell that I don't have all the issues you are reporting.
1. The phone does heat when charging or making lengthy calls but it doesn't bother me since while charging it's normal and I don't make as many long calls but this has not happened since the last FW update.
2. The buttons are working alright. I haven't noticed any lags. If anything they are more sensitive for me. Takes a screenshot every now and then if I hold my recent app key for a fraction of a second.
3. I always used Google KB on all my android devices so again can't tell but initially I was using the ASUS KB and didn't face any major issues.
4. I haven't done any benchmarks so can't report on that yet.
5. No dings whatsoever. I am also using a case so I barely touch the device.
6. The device has to be supported by devs. I know that the beta Microsoft Hyperlapse does not support it right now but it should do once they add support for it.
7. Well battery has been a concern for most on this forum but with the last FW I am getting 5 hours of SOT with 4G enabled all day. That's not bad at all compared to 2.5 or ~3 hours when I first started using the phone so it has been optimized and if ASUS is serious about this device (I hope they are) then it should only get better.

2. Capacitive buttons are laggy. It takes about a second to register the press of the home button along with back and recent buttons. The Nexus 5 onscreen buttons so much faster.
If anyone else has any thoughts about the phone, please chime in.

Had the same issue with the capacitive buttons, did a factory reset and cleared the cache and they are now pretty much instantaneous when you press them.

Go to Wi-Fi Advanced Settings and turn off "scanning always available". That will fix the Wi-Fi consistently on even when turned 'off'.

So I have noticed over the past few weeks that my Bluetooth is the biggest user of power on my phone. Today I haven't gone anywhere or connected to Bluetooth at all. Last night I transferred some pictures using Bluetooth, but that only took a few minutes. I am attaching a screen shot of the Bluetooth usage and one of my SOT. SOT is nearly two hours yet its used less battery. Can anyone explain this? Is anyone else seeing similar usage on their device? Thanks.

Interesting. Lets see if anyone else chimes in on this one. Mine is very consistently using the most power of anything on my phone. Almost like its always searching for BT connections or something. I would really like to hear what others are experiencing with BT power usage. Just put mine on the charger and it had used 851 mAh and was 21% of my batteries drain. The only usage it got today was during a trip out much earlier today when it was connected to my vehicles BT for phone calls only, no media streaming. Total driving was about 50 minutes.

I have this problem as well. There is a thread about it in the Nexus 6p forum and another on Reddit. Most of them are blaming the GasBuddy app, but I don't use that app so I'm not convinced that it is just app related. I only keep Bluetooth on in the car or when I'm wearing my 360 but it shoots to the top of my battery stats when I do.

No joy, Gas Buddy app is not causing the issue on my phone. Bluetooth is still using the most battery. Furthermore the battery life seems to be terrible in general. Went to bed with a full charge and woke up and phone was down to 90%. To me that seems like way too much drain with MM and the supposed doze feature. Not so sure about this build of MM on the Moto X Pure, it doesn't seem that Motorola did their homework properly before releasing this update. Still would like to hear from more people and if they are having this issue as well.

So I bought the app but I'm going to need a little help in figuring out how it is supposed to help me, or what I should be looking for exactly to narrow down the massive Bluetooth drain. I see there are tons of settings and I'm sure there is a tutorial somewhere, but if you could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Charge up one night, and then unplug and use the phone normally the next day. As you near 20% battery, go to BBS and check the different pages (switched with the top dropdown menu). Focus on partial wakelocks, kernel wakelocks, and alarms. If some app or services pops out to you and looks like an obvious drain, try removing it and seeing if you drain is resolved. Otherwise, post screenshots and let's see if I or anyone else here can figure out what's taking so much battery through bluetooth.

That looks total normal. I'm about to post mine again here in a moment but you will see my BT usage is way more than that. I only took a 15 minute drive today so that should be the only BT usage that occurred. But even when I was sleeping last night the phone drained 10%, that can't be right. As soon as I woke up I looked at the battery stat's and wouldn't you know BT was at the top! Something is not right. I might try a reset to see if that fixes it. Before doing that I was trying to get others to weigh in and see if they are seeing the same things. Thanks.

I just deleted two of the 3 pairings I had. Don't want to delete my vehicle pairing so I left that one. I'm going to charge the phone and see what I get through the end of work tomorrow. My phone will be used minimally the rest of this evening and I can't take it into my building at work so it will sit in the car for 8 hours. So the only BT usage will be the 20 minute drive to work in the morning. We will see what happens. Thanks for the input and if anyone sees anything wrong with the screen shots I posted, let me know.
I see it says no signal, no data connection 100%. That'll definitely kill your battery trying to get service. Now in other scree shots it seems you have plenty of wifi and cell, so why does BBS think you're out of range?? Interesting.
Also, weather bug seems to be very very high usage. Try uninstalling it. I know that Google Play services location scanning sometimes utilizes Bluetooth to try to determine location. That might be the major drain since WeatherBug is always checking for location.

I was thinking the No Signal thing might have been because I was on WiFi. Although I know my cell signal is still active just not the LTE data connection. I noticed it to but just didn't know how to correctly analyze it properly. I guess I will check in again tomorrow and report my results. If it's still bad I think I will do a factory reset and install only the essential app's to start and then the others to see if it's an app that is causing the problem. Could be quite a painstaking process.

Ahh, the LTE/WIFI thing makes a lot of sense: I agree with your assumption. I really think that weatherbug should be eliminated for your test tomorrow. Best case it's the culprit, worst case you're still going to wipe/add apps one by one as your next step.

So here are my results from the last 21+ hours. I have not used the phone much at all. I think one call has been placed during this time period. My SOT is minimal but still after deleting two of my three paired Bluetooth devices, things are looking much better. Still a fair amount of Bluetooth usage but not 20% like before. I think it may have been my computer that was causing the problem. Phone might have been continually trying to negotiate a connection with it even though I wasn't transferring files or anything. Here are the screen shots.

Well, that's a dramatic difference. Didn't know you had it paired to a computer. I don't know about Mac, but windows has historically always tried staying connected to my phone just in case I wanted to us it as a modem. It also didn't use any low power Bluetooth like the 360 does. I agree, I think the pc was your battery thief.

I think it certainly wasn't helping the situation that's for sure. I am still seeing quite a large battery drain from Bluetooth. I am still on the charge from nearly two days ago but the BT is still number 2 on the usage list. So I must have an app that is doing something. Is there an easy way that I could track down that app? I hate to perform a factory reset and have to re-setup my phone all over again. Here the few screen shots I took earlier. Shows my BT usage compared to SOT over nearly 2 days on a single charge.

My battery life is really ****ty... Plus when i'm around 30%, my phone shuts down and when i turn it back on again, i'm like at 1%.
I'm not root.
I really don't know what to do. Is there any information i can give you that will give you tips on things i'm maybe doing wrong causing my phone to have weird behavior ?
The thing i want to know is if flashing a new rom was a good idea, and maybe if you have advices to give me on roms.. I'd like to be as up to date as possible, and a light rom. Doesn't care about touchwiz feature. I just want my phone to be reactive, fast, and working normally.
Thanks for your answers.
Change your battery. Some posters claim to have lag when their battery are nearly dying as well.

Do you update regularly (Apps & OTA update)?
Try to turn off WiFi & then turn it on again.
As for battery....it's degraded to only 70% of its full capacity.
Usually when it reaches around 40% your phone will stutter + lagging heavily, so make sure to charge at around 50% if you are still considering to use that "broken" battery.
My Advice is to buy a new OEM battery or any good 3rd party battery.
It is a little similar with my 2014 Note 10.1. It also shuts down on its own at right arount 33%. But only sometimes. And yes, it also stutters. I can not vouch for other branded devices. But, I have heard similar stories from friends on their Samsung devices. Definitely get a new battery. Like another post staited. OEM is a great choice. Or, at least a very reputable 3rd party. I purchased a battery for my Note 10. And even though it was new, it was not the same. I found that the circuitry in the cheap aftermarket battery was sub par. The seller sent me a free replacement battery. And it also had issues. So, make sure you get a reputable battery.

Batteries aren't linear though. Its voltage drops off in a curve. (e.g. 4.2v = 100%, 4.1v = 90% and 3.7v = 20%)
Same problem on my 10 months old Note 4 N910C. And it was started about 2-3 months ago, so the battery lasted about 6 months!? Also, there's a burned-in damage on my screen (notification bar)! Yes, warranty is still valid, but anyway... NEVER AGAIN Samsung phone!

Hm... You right about signal. I never looked at this, because whenever I use the phone (at home) and I'm always on 4G internet (unlimited plan), signal meter is on 1-2 bars.I don't know why is signal so bad, when phone is off. Power saving is always ON. About wake locks... I believe that they are from my smart watch (bluetooth),but Bluetooth version on Note4 should be low-power (connection is lost when I'm 4 meters away (in my department)), so... This days I can't reach 2h of SOT (4h-5h when it was new).

Interesting. I'm curious about the power saving if that actually reduces your signal by keeping it in a lower power state. I have never used power saving mode and my rom doesn't recommend it. I wonder if running in normal mode would effect it.
Might look at what apps are using the bulk of your battery as well to see if something rogue is running.

Before Note my phone was Sony Xperia Z and power saving on that phone did a great job. That's why I still use this feature. I also put many apps into the "optimizing mode"... There's no any special app which uses battery. There was Facebook, but I uninstall it.Battery monitoring apps are useless for me because phone is not rooted (still under warranty). Maybe I should try hard reset.

I know it's old thread, but anyway... Last week I finally take my phone to the service, because it's still under warranty. They changed the screen because it was burned-in, they changed the battery (sudden power-offs) and strangely - they changed some faulty system connector. Phone worked and charge befor the repair. I always use only original charger, so how can be some system connector burned??? They changed it for free under warranty, so I assume that it must be some factory fault. I know few people with the same "sudden power-off" problem on different Samsung phones, so...

Improved camera UI
That's it. No other improvements. The update is 150mb in size, so i am hoping there would be behind the scenes bug fixing. Especially hoping it would fix the wifi sleep battery drain issue. Will update this thread in a couple of days on my findings.

Update: I can confirm that this update does not fix the wifi/sleep issue. Went to bed at 10pm and checked the tablet at 6am. Lost 12% battery. Battery Usage tells me the tablet was awake the whole time and did not go to sleep mode. This is really bad compared to my S8+ which only loses 3% battery overnight.
Still the fix would be to switch off wifi before going to bed and the tablet will only lose 1 to 2% of its battery.
This one lost 5% over sleep but that's still a lot. I'm testing an old Asus Nexus 7 for the hell of it (it hadn't been turned on for 4 years and literally two days ago updated it to 5.1 and just left it to see if the battery would hold). The Nexus 7 is beating the S3 so far. Also have an iPad to compare and that thing can stay in standby for a month solid.
I'm just going to turn it off when not in use, waiting a minute for bootup (plus fingerprint so no having to fiddle with pw screen) isn't a huge deal to me.
Yeah it's annoying that Samsung can't get it right, even after more than a year with several devices running on the SD820 platform. I just don't get how my pixel, with nearly the same hardware, is so much smoother and more battery efficient. /rant
Anyways, I just have WiFi set to turn off when the screen is off. I only charge it once every 4-5 days with light to moderate usage
Idiots are probably not aware of the issue. WTF is there no theme store?? Getting tired of this SAMMY BS.
Download LInk?
Does anyone have a link so I can Download the latest update? Or do I need to remove root and then update in the traditional way? (I would prefer to have a file I can flash in Odin)

FYI - I have a case I keep my tablet in. WHile in the case, I didn't use the tablet for two weeks. Busy having fun with new S8+) anyway, I still have over 50% of my battery remaining. When I open the case, the screen comes on very quickly. It appears that being in the case has helped to put this thing to sleep and I guess that puts battery drain down to about that 2% to 3% your S8+ gets.

I'm going to chime in and add that I'll be using it for CPU intensive apps. Re: SoundCamp, FL Studio, and other heavy tasks. Don't think this will live up to "12 hour run time" that everyone's oohing and awwing over XD
I wound up getting the battery to about 13% and turned on "battery saver" for the day. It was supposed to last 23 hours. When the work day was over (about 16 hours by the time I got home) it was off. Figured it was worth testing time to complete-off from full charge. No idea when it actually turned off, but the system isn't optimized for this so-called battery saver mode either. Every other device I've owned with this feature has had accurate results (sometimes more), but not here.
Thinking of returning mine coz of the wifi bug and going back to my s2.

The battery drain bug thats been referred to in many places here. Not sure if and when it will be fixed.
The older S2 doesn't have this problem and it seems like the Exynos 5433 with it's 8 standard ARM cores as opposed to Qualcomm's custom 4 cores in 820 (though theoretically faster) handle Touchwiz better with less UI jankiness since both run Nougat 7.0 now.
There is a a ADQC firmware out for a lot of countries including UK, trying that one to see if the Wifi bug is fixed. Why do they delay the US version so much is beyond me? Same story with the S2 firmwares, went to the Germany/Singapore version since US receives firmware updates last, even though there are no carrier delays for the Wifi only versions.
This firmware resolves the issue: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=1D0F4E90377111E7963AFA163EE8F90B ! Confirmed 0% drain over 3 hours on standby would have def lost at least 2-3 % by now.
Look for BTU firmware T820XXU1AQDC if the link expires.
Does anyone not charge their tab overnight? That negates all of this *****ing. Then it is at 100% when you wake up. Win win for all.

I charge on the weekends. I use the tab to take notes for work during the week.
Currently, I have tasker turn off wifi when the screen is off. I have updated, so I'll try without tasker.
I take my earlier comment back, aqdc still has the wifi drain bug, very annoying. Also, the new ipad pro makes this look like a joke. We need an 8895 in this tab not useless qualcomm chips.

I have a EU LTE Tab S3. It's connected to Wi-Fi continually when I'm home. I lose 2-3% when the tablet's sleeping overnight. I didn't know there was a Wi-Fi bug until I saw this thread. But I do have a Netgear R9000 which is a beast of a router. Is there any commonality to the Wi-Fi drain problem? I don't remember which Samsung phone it was but one had a big problem with D-Link routers specifically.

So it's now referred to as "*****ing" when people are noticing a very clear obvious issue with a device and would like to see it fixed. Amazing. Maybe for the S4 they can just not put speakers on it and we can all be considered "*****ing" because we should all just use headphones?
Anyway......completely ridiculous that there are constantly issues with these things. I TRY to switch away from iPad constantly and there is just not an Android tablet on the market that is in the same ballpark and at this point I doubt there ever will be. I've lost 8% of battery life today already and the thing has been on for like 2 and a half hours, and of that time I've probably spent like 5 minutes actually using it. The rest of the time it's just been sitting there, screen off. Pathetic. An iPad would still be at 100%, MAYBE 99%.
Please report the wifi issue here to pressure samsung for a fix :
