I did both a google and a forum search and couldn't find a definite answer. I know it'll work on the network, but is everybody getting their employee and month to month discounts?
After the run around they gave us with the Nexus 6 I wanted to make sure before I buy.
You could always ask Verizon themselves?

Simple answer if you have an already activated Verizon SIM card: Buy a Nexus 6P. Turn both old phone and 6P off. Put your old SIM card into the 6P. Power it up.
Whoila!! Verizon 6P, without having to even hassle with calling or stopping into a Verizon store, and absolutely nothing on your plan will change. Win win win.
I've done the above 5 times on different lines, and I have to say I'll never visit a Verizon store or call them again if I can help it. So far it's going pretty well!
I activated mine online using the Verizon website.

Yeah, I could ask 3-4 CS reps and get 3-4 different answers. I know better.
Thanks for the replies but I'm not concerned about activating it, I'll just plug my Nexus 6 sim card in. Just wanted to verify that they're not pulling employee and m2m discounts on non Verizon devices. Looked through the threads here and as there isn't an uproar about it I'll assume that they aren't.
Thanks again.

At one point we had 3 of the 5 lines on our family plan running N6P's, and still have continued to get the employer discount we always have. So nothing in our plan has changed. But again, I haven't ever even contacted Verizon I've just swapped SIM's as every time I do that I risk something happening as who knows what bonehead you'll get to "help" you

OK thanks, that's what I was wondering. I couldn't remember if I had to enter the imei online. And I made the mistake of letting a CS bone head "help" me once. It only took a couple weeks to fix it afterwards....
On Verizon and getting my discounts for more than a year.
+1 on discount
+2 on discount. I went to the store to activate mine. I didn't have a sim to fit the 6P and didn't want to cut mine down. I had read through a bunch of forums about problems getting it activated and was well prepared. The store reps told me it couldn't be done but I had all the info at hand on how to do it and "helped" them through it. The only issue I had is when I used the upgrade that was available on my line to get my son a phone. The next month my bill went up. My line was no longer receiving the $25.00 discount. I called and the rep told me it was only available for Verizon phones. I don't know how many people I talked to before it was fixed but it turned out to be some computer glitch.
+1
More reasons to hate Verizon.
I've been using the Nexus 6p on this Verizon. I switch between an iphone 7 plus and the nexus 6p all the time. And no issues.

Same here. Have a 6P on Verizon with employee discount.
Just wish it was simple as transfering the Google Dialer from the Pixel to the 6P for the built in visual voicemail.
I just use google voice for voicemail. It works great at texting me/emailing me transcripts.
I decided to go for it and found a fair deal on a new one that'll be here tomorrow. Spigen Rugged Armor case, screen protectors and spare chargers have been sitting here since Saturday. Haven't used Google Voice in a few yrs but I'll figure it out. Thanks again for the replies.

Hi, I have a 5X and ordered a Verizon prepaid SIM Kit. My plan is to first put the SIM in an old iPhone 4s that used to be on Verizon as it is a CDMA iPhone 4s. Then, once the SIM is active I will swap it to the 5X and it should work fine from what I have found researching this.
Does anyone know if Verizon has recently added the 6P and 5X to their "okay" to activate list as I can avoid the swapping if so?

UPDATE - Gift Card is now only $50 for upgrades thru 6/30/15 but $150 for new lines.
Only until the 23rd. But 6 months of free Google Play Music AND a $200 gift card is a great deal!!!!!! Phandroid is reporting that the Verizon N6 comes with 6 months of free GPM if you buy it by the 31st.
http://www.comcast.com/verizon-wireless.html
You do not need to be a Comcast subscriber to qualify for this promotion. Some times the gift cards take forever to get to you and sometimes you have to make multiple phone calls to get them. But eventually I got mine when I bought another device through this link a year ago.
Edited - The Nexus 6 is on the Comcast link now. To find the Nexus 6 on the Comcast link, you have to hit the "All Devices" tab at the top and then search for the Nexus 6 or filter by Motorola brand.
Thank you so much for posting this! Looking forward to using it! Would you,or anyone else, happen to know if there is a method to use with this promotion and preserve grandfathered unlimited data? I have one unlimited line and two basic lines. Additionally, my current phone is a galaxy s3 and the sim card size is different. Would taking both phones to a Verizon store and asking them to activate a new sim card negatively affect my unlimited plan? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

That would be the worst possible thing to do. There are several methods you can use depending on which lines on your account are eligible for upgrades. Be sure and read the wiki on that thread I posted a link to.
Thank you so much for your prompt reply! I actually ran across that threat while researching the topic! I will definitely read through the wiki! Thanks again! =D Oh I was also wondering if you were going to get a Nexus 6 when it's officially released for Verizon, if you don't mind me asking. Hopefully they get the 64 gb cloud white version >.< not likely though since all of the other carriers only have the midnight blue 32gb version .

Yes, I am getting the N6, just deciding whether or not to get the Verizon since Phandroid leaked the info in Verizon's system that shows only the 32GB blue one will be coming to Verizon. The good news is that you get 6 months of free Google Play Music!

I really want the white 64GB one but the free GPM x 6 months along with the $200 comcast gift card is really tempting. And I rarely if ever see the white 64GB available on Motorola or Google Play Store.
JulesJam said:

The only thing holding me back is that my upgrade is on a basic line and I am going to try to transfer it to another basic line and see if that allows me to keep my upgrade. For some reason and no one knows why, when you do an upgrade transfer through Verizon online, some people are keeping their upgrades and not getting contract extensions. Obviously it is a glitch in the Verizon system, but I would like to take a chance and see if it works for me.
When people did the transfers through the Comcast link, they did not keep their upgrades and their contracts were renewed, but they got the gift cards. The Comcast link is through the iconic portal and it must process the orders differently is all I can guess.

I will update my results on the slick deals thread. I actually edited out that part of my post that you quoted b/c I would rather the upgrade questions be posted on the slick deals thread as it really is a complicated situation and people need to read the wiki over there before they attempt any of the methods. I don't want people trying any of the methods w/o reading the wiki so it is better to keep the upgrade method discussion over there IMO.

I have on multiple occasion. Mine use to be around $150. Seems someone fd up and it never got fixed. I tried but told them after 12 yrs no more.
Let me tell you, from first hand experience, Verizon isn't all that. Work started paying for my phone, so I had to make the switch. My wife's is still on Sprint. Her download speeds across the board are faster. Not to mention, Verizon locks the crap down on these phones. If it wasn't a free work phone, I'd still be over on Sprint.
Will the 6P work on Verizon? If so will it have enhanced calling for voice & data at the same time?
I'm wondering the same
yeah, it supports the bands for VZW, and I would assume it has VoLTE (enhanced calling) since almost all new devices have it

You just pop in your SIM and go, right?
I'm curious on this too since I have one pre-ordered and I recall the nightmare of trying to keep my month-to-month discount with Verizon until they officially supported the IMEI's in their system.
Unless I see something from Verizon like I saw about the Moto X Pure, I'd imagine that it'd be like last year's Nexus 6 where if you already had a line activated on Verizon, you just had to swap the SIM card into the phone and you'd be good to go, but if you were activating a new line, you'd have to use a different phone first to get it set up before you swapped it into the Nexus 6.
However, I really hope that things have improved since last year's Nexus 6 and that the ability to activate the Moto X Pure on Verizon at launch time (minus those few days of Verizon's system glitch) is a sign of the times.
As for VoLTE, I think that's baked into Android because I was able to activate VoLTE on my Nexus 6 back in March when the Lollipop update rolled out and Verizon's systems still weren't accepting non-Verizon purchased Nexus 6's in their system. In their system, my Nexus 6 would show up as an 'unsupported device', but I was still able to add VoLTE to my line.
I could be totally wrong, but that was my experience with the Nexus 6 on Verizon.

I mentioned that in my post, supposedly Verizon was having trouble activating them at first. They announced they were having trouble and fixed it a couple of days later if I'm not mistaken.
Im with Verizon, and left my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for the Nexus 6 when it went on sale early last month. I just popped in my Sim card, and I was good to go. Two weeks after that my Moto XPE came in, and did the same with no issues at all. Only thing... HD calling was not connected for some reason? All I had to do was call Verizon, and had them flip the switch for me. They did, and with a quick reboot of my phone it worked just fine. I'm expecting the same to happen when my Nexus 6P comes in. Verizon has been pretty good as of late with unlocked phones, and expect it to continue. Might see an issue here, and there with some, but they've been on top of things now. I wouldn't really worry about this if I were you.

What kind of plan do you have? I've got the More Everything where my G4 is only $15/month because I'm technically still paying for it with Edge. I'm wondering if they'll make me pay off that balance first or just continue with what I have.
I have the same plan as you. No need to pay anything off. The balance will just transfer over to your new phone. You're good to go.
Are there any sprint users here? I've used HTC for all of my Android life and it's time to move on to true Android in Nexus. Only thing is, I'm hesitant because I haven't seen any sprint feedback. Can you guys assure me, this purchase in N6P is well worth it?
I'm on Sprint and I don't know what else to say other than, it's totally worth it

I'm on sprint. And it is worth it since it can also be used on other carriers if you ever decide to switch.
I'm happy with this phone on Sprint. Call quality and signal strength are excellent.
I do miss Sprint Visual VM and WiFi calling tho. These services can be approximated by Google Voice and Hangouts, but are not as seamless as Sprint offerings.
Regardless, well worth the switch
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
It's without a doubt worth it. I was a real HTC fanboy back when i was a pup, had the Hero, then EVO, then EVO 3D, then EVO LTE . . . then I got a Nexus 5 and I just am not going back. That's also happens to be around the time that HTC took it's dive (that its currently still plummeting into, sadly, they wrecked shop for a few years there, record profits Q over Q, Y over Y). They need to resurrect the EVO line and bring back the kickstand, because that thing was the tits.
Anyway, everything on the Now Network with the 6P has been top shelf, have no fear.
There's a sprint users thread already

If you google it, you can find AT&T's Note 7 recall policy here:
https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1122948
So...I turned my note 7 in, I did not exchange it. They gave me the tax back and the upgrade fee and next payments will be retroactively credited.
I wanted to do a candle light vigil for it but the att rep said they didn't have any candles. Rip note 7, you were the best android phone I have ever owned. Bring on 2017!

I checked my account.. I didn't notice no eip balance either
What a trip... my blood pressure is pretty high from this ordeal. I ended up getting the Xperia XZ. As a huge trade off in features, there's very little Sony bloat and no carrier bloat since it's an unlocked device. Overall there's hardly any lag, and Swiftkey is default. Battery life is awesome, too!
Last week I hit up the local AT&T corporate store to return the 2nd device for a refund, and they said they would check if it's within their store policy. Sales rep asked why I didn't want to exchange it, and I told her I already have another phone. She had trouble processing the return, and since it was late she said she'd figure it out and let let me know the next day. A whole week went by, and I tried calling her a few times to no availability. This past Saturday my cousin, the account holder, found out we were still getting charged for the Note 7 so I told him the story. I tried calling the store and no one answered. He also happens to work for an AT&T store in his city, and he couldn't get a hold of anyone either. So he 3-way called with the store and an AT&T rep and got a hold with the manager at the store. He had to "teach" her how to process it for a refund and got a hold of the IMEI off my Xperia XZ. He also scolded her for keeping my phone without giving me paper work or feedback since it's a liability issue. I honestly hate that store, and after speaking with the manager he suggested I stay away from them.
Everything went well until I lost service that night: no data and intermittent SMS. So on Sunday I was in touch with live chat for about 2 hours. The IMEI was mismatched. Got that corrected, but no LTE. Service rep wanted to check to see if my phone supports LTE. I told him YES because it was working the entire week until the Note 7 billing dilemma popped up and resolved. He later concluded my SIM was not provisioned for LTE and that he can fix that for free by sending me a new card. I'm confused this card came off the Note 7 and my Xperia had great success with LTE up until they screwed around with the IMEI on my line. The least I got was 4G. Today, no 4G or anything. My new SIM should arrive tomorrow, and hopefully it fixes these issues. AT&T has been nothing but problematic for me ever since I switched to the Note 7 and joined my cousin's plan.

This isn't going to fix your issue if they have the IMEI of the Xperia device. Take the IMEI from any ATT LTE enabled phone, and give them that IMEI. ATT network does not allow non-ATT phones that don't have EVERY LTE band to connect to their LTE. I went through this issue for about a month with a T-mobile note 5. Gave them the IMEI of a display note 5 in store, and boom LTE all day.
