Guys, I need some help.
Basic Problem :
On almost 95% of reboots, power-ons I either get a message
saying "Insert Sim Card", or there is no message displayed but I have no GSM capability.
The Phone is unable to search for networks with the message "Error in Searching Networks"
Fields like Baseband, in About Phone Activity and
basically all fields in the Status Activity are marked as "Unknown".
Only Option is to reboot and hope that everything works.
I Unlooked the bootloader(phone was network unlocked when purchased),
verified it as being unlocked using the 'R','r' method. I had flashed nAa v8b and my phone was running fine.
Problem started when i flashed nAa v11 kernel, and then the subsequent SEMC Debrand & MiniCM2.1.9
I have also flashed stock kernel, relocked the bootloader, flashed Stock ROM and baseband also.
But I'm still getting the same basic problem stated above.
I also tried updating with latest SEUS and PCC, both say "No new update for your phone".
Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, but have you actually tried calling someone in case its just a rom/kernel bug?
If you have and it dont work, i suggest you ask a repairman (not SE, your phone isnt hardbricked)
But this is one thing that you can actually do at home.
did you even try using the search problem in case this question has bee asked before?
good luck
1 in 8 reboot works.

Yup, I did search a lot. The answers I found was :relock & unlock, flash stock rom, update using SEUS/PCC. I tried everyone of them. None of them work. !
I'll wait for a few days and then its off to the Service Center.

what are you gonna tell service center? that you were playing with your bootloader?
until then, reboot your phone 1-5 times a day, even more if you can manage,

Lol no.. I'm gonna say. "Repair the phone. I didn't do anything." And as it is its not in warranty anymore .! It may cost a bit more. !
Alternate Solutions for this problem:
- try to reboot
- flash the rom again
- flash the kernel again
- flash the baseband firmware again
- flash the original X8 firmware
If not, then go to the repair shop
May be there is a hardware problem
Looks like my SIM Card itself is at fault.

Hi, I am not happy with the latest update (V1.15.40.639) and would like to downgrade to the previous one (V1.13.40.496). I read on zentalk forum that we can downgrade by downloading the latter firmware from asus site(http://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-2-Laser-ZE550KL/HelpDesk_Download/) and place it on SD card root. The reboot to the recovery and select something like "apply update from external". Can someone confirm if this will work? Is there an easy enough and confirmed way to downgrade the firmware. Any help will be much appreciated.
Edit: The method works!
Haven't done that but it should work, if you face any app crashes you will need to reset phone

Like I said the you'd face app crashes which you can fix by resetting phone.
If you are not comfortable to do this then simply go to service center and tell them you want certain update flashed for whatever reason.

I placed the update on sd card. Booted to recovery. cleared data and cache and applied the update via SD Card method. The cleared cache once more and rebooted.Voila!
This method is going to wipe all user data???
Probably a reboot would do the same result.
I have, like many others, the latest firmware and I didn't encounter no problems. So definitely is not the firmware itself.

LOL. That's one question I never ask. It's always a good idea to do a backup before any update, especially if it's a full firmware flash and not an OTA update.
No. I only wiped cache and it seems to have kept the data intact at the time. I had a backup for safety's sake but I did not need to restore it.
Can We root the phone after downgrading it to lollipop using Kingroot?

Stuck in bootloop
Hi guys,
I am a noob. My Blu Vivo 5R is stuck in a boot loop after installing the TWRP. I can get into TWRP, but cannot get out of the first boot screen (black and white).
I already tried Wipe and reboot. It is still in boot loop.
I am not sure what to do next. Is the Stock Rom corrupted? If so where would I get the stock rom and how would I restore it?
Please help.:crying:
Thank you kindly.
Charlotte.

Hi,
You should read my posts before flashing recovery. It's all explained here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-5r/how-to/how-to-root-blu-vivo-5r-t3492718
You can get stock rom from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-5r/how-to/blu-vivo-5r-stock-roms-bluv0090eev11-t3492756
And 100% working TWRP recovery is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-5r/how-to/twrp-recovery-blu-vivo-5r-t3492739
Your problem is lock oem bootloader. You need to unlock bootloader and folow everythink step by step. The most important is to press the volume up button for Yes, after pressing command fastboot oem unlock.. If you wont press yes, you get bootloop problem.
If you want to flash stock rom you need to use SPflash tool. You will need to learn how to use it first before flashing.
To unlock bootloader you can use ADB fastboot.
* Type adb reboot bootloader and press enter. The phone should now enter Fastboot (black screen with only fastboot written at the top or bottom)
* Type fastboot oem unlock and press enter. (Warning: This step will wipe all your data and factory reset your phone!)
* You should get a prompt on the device asking you to confirm Bootloader unlock, !!! press the volume up button for Yes !!! on your phone.
* You should now get a success message
* You can check the status of your bootloader lock, type fastboot getvar all and press enter.
See this ex. (bootloader) unlocked:yes
* Type fastboot reboot and pres enter
* You should now boot back into your phone.
You will need to complete the Android setup wizard at this point to get access to ADB command again.
Hi mirozeman,
Thanks for your response. Last night when I was in TWRP I selected the Reboot into Bootloader option. The phone booted into the bootloader. I did select Fastboot OEM unlock and select Yes.
I can't remember but I think it took me back to TWRP. Once I was in TWRP I chose reboot into system. It was stuck in boot loop again.
I will try it again tonight.
How do you execute an ADB command from a computer if the phone is in a Bootloop. The computer will not recognize the usb connection.
Can I flash the ROM by doing this:
1. copying the Factory Rom (zip file) onto a SD card and insert into phone
2 . Go into TWRP and click the Install button
3. navigate to the Factory rom zip file and install it from there?
Will this get me out of a boot loop?
or do I have to use the SP Flash Tool?
Thanks.
Charlotte.
My vivo 5R is alive again
Hi mirozeman,
My phone is up and running now. It is also rooted. Thank you for the well written instruction that you have provided.
I used it root my phone successfully.
I wish I had seen your instruction before I attempted rooting for the first time. It would have saved me a lot of grieves.
The instruction that I had used in my first attempt did not say to tap "Keep Read Only". It told me to swipe to allow modification of the system Partition. This is where it probably messed up my phone. TWRP was saying there was no OS installed, and I could not boot it. Stuck in boot loop.
Many thanks to the person who uploaded the Blu Vivo 5R factory ROM. I had to use the SP Flash Tool like you suggested and was able to flash the factory ROM on to the phone. Afterward, I carefully followed your instruction to install TWRP and SuperSU.
I am very grateful for all the helps and resources provided by this forum and members. You guys are awesome!
Many thanks again.

Hi guys,
I don't know what is causing this error, maybe you have different provider. Did you try other sim cards.
There is new update for this rom. Please can you try to flash newer rom and see if it will sort this problem. Thanks.
Updated rom here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-5r/how-to/blu-vivo-5r-stock-roms-bluv0090eev11-t3492756
If it won't help you can try to flash rom from other manufacturer. This rom is 100% compatible with Vivo 5R.

If your device is in the state described in this post, it is likely dead. You need to RMA your device.
Otherwise if your issue is different, answer a few questions to help diagnose the issue:
What happened..?
What did you try to fix it?
What build are you currently on?
Is your bootloader unlocked?
Do you have access to recovery yet?
Good luck...
If you aren't in a boot loop of death you should be able to fix your phone by doing a factory reset. Power down your phone by holding down the power button. Go into the bootloader menu by pressing power and volume down at the same time. Use the volume keys to find the factory reset option and select it. Good luck. I'm pretty sure all of these phones will permanently boot loop at some point because there is a serious design flaw, probably with solder that can't withstand the heat the phone generates like on the LG phones. Hopefully your 6P isn't there yet but flashing an OTA frequently triggers it.

Hello... Did it start bootlooping after a 7.1.1 OTA? So you unlocked your.bootloader? If yes, it wiped all your data... And now your phone still bootloop right?
Then reboot into recovery, press power and tap volume up when you see the Android guy laying.
From the menu, select factory reset. Try to reboot and see.if that helps.
If it still doesn't work, try to flash a stock firmware from here: https://developers.google.com/android/images#angler
And extract the zip a d open the folder
Reboot into bootloader. From here, openn the flash-all.bat and let it install the new firmware. It will reboot when it's done flashing.
Hopefully a factory reset will suffice to solve the issue. Let us know if it works... :good:

Hello...
Sorry to read that. Only way now seems to have your phone repaired. I don't know if you're still covered, but don't let Google or Huawei charge you if your warranty is already ended. The issue is well known and you shouldn't pay for their mistakes!
If you don't get a positive answer from the first person, tell him/her you are going to think about it and end the call. Call back one or two days later. You'll likely speak to another tech. Retry as much as needed. A lot of people who insisted have had their phone repaired/replaced for free that way. Try escalating the case to a supervisor if needed. Don't give up until you succeed, because that's all they are waiting for!
Sorry again, good luck...

Si you never rooted it ? Never did something out of stock ?
Install magisk app and trigger the safetynet test
See if it passes it especially the basic integrity which stands for system modification
Else you can unlock bootloader
Do the trick to not wipe data (I do not guaranty it will work for you)
Flash firmware with fastboot (be careful the script inside firmware have unlock/relock bootloader remove them before continue

Since you haven't done anything from your side, it would be best if you give it to service centre.
Or you can read tutorial about flashing fastboot images.
Since its your 3rd post, i assume you never had flashing experience. Best would be taking it to service centre

Thank you for suggestion Lemme try calling the service centre first. If they didn't resolve the issue I will definitely try flashing it via fastboot mode.
You should try erasing the Google Services Framework data. It would help.
A fair warning about messing up Google Services Framework:
