I5800 that cannot receive or make calls

My friend has got a Samsung I5800 Apollo (Galaxy 3) which he claims it cannot make or receive calls. He asked me what might be wrong with it. I'm not saying its lost or stolen but why else would it not work? Only other thing could possibly when it was unlocked to networks the phone imei got messed up? I've seen some phones get all zeros.

i'd suggest unlocking it with superoneclick. if that fails, maybe replace the phone.apk?

Honestly, i think the simplest solution when u have serious prblms like that is to backup all ur data and just flash a new ROM. I can wholeheartedly recommend Kyrillos' ROM v9.5. Hasnt let me down once!

You didn't by any chance restore your system data with TiBa when changing roms?? And not to sound patronising but you can enter recovery mode (if available on your kernel) by pushing Vol Up+Vol Down+Home+Power buttons together and restore factory settings, or download mode to flash from Odin by pushing Vol Down+Home+Power buttons together.

Okay i got the phone today and it was on 2.1. I updated it to AOKP just to test and it installed fine. But the sim card does not get found at all. I tried 2 sim cards that work in my sg2.
If there any place I can check to see if the phone has actually been locked to use?

Sometimes problems like this can be caused by framework-res.apk. Try flashing a custom ROM and see if it works.

If I'm not wrong, AOKP is an ICS ROM, and I'd read that ICS has a bug and don't see the sim card untill you remove the pin.

Wont work without disabling Pin on SIM.

i'm gonna quote the solution i had with the exact same problem when my emei got corrupted:
marcel i found out what was teh problem corrupted EMEI - efs....
i was lucky enough to have a nv_data.bin backed up in my sd from ages ago!
i dowloaded an efs.tar flashed it through odin and then copy nv_data.bin from sd -> /efs and then
chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
i inserted my sim and VOILAAA!!! this is a know problem with cm7 and since someone will get this problem these are the links that will solve the problem:

Help - sim unlocked galaxy s4 as per instructions and now i get no sim error

followed the above instructions to try and sim unlock my i337....first time it rebooted it asked me for a code..so i guess it didnt unlock. but when i put my original sim back in all i get now is sim not detected??
is there a way to reset the service mode stuff i went into so i can get a sim recognized again...help...

I mentioned this in the other thread but you can go back through the menu steps and turn SHA256 back on and see if it makes a difference. You can also see if you have another "golden backup" with SHA256 on and see if you can restore it. It might not help or even work but at this point you have nothing to lose. In the future, pay attention to warnings and let the experience of others guide your decisions Good luck..

If it asked for a code with a non-carrier sim then it is detecting a sim. If the original sim says no sim then make sure it is not in backwards.

Anyone got any specific other instructions I can try in service mode. ...this is bad..

Did you try what I suggested with the SHA256 settings??

Tried it...same error...it says its set back to on now..this is so depressing. Do I now have. 600 sollar brick

Was there another "golden backup" available with SHA256ON? If so, try to restore it and see if it is the same. If it doesn't exist or it doesn't work, I would say you are screwed.

I only have one backup ..that's all I see tried to restore the existing nv backup still no go. I may cry

If I flash a modem file from odin will anything potentially fix it?

I had this same issue without even doing the unlock method. Found a blog somewhere where lots of ppl were having the same issue. Ended up having to warranty exchange.

Did you exchange through your carrier or through samsung directly
Also could you post the blog where that discussion is please

Odin back to stock and see if that resolve the issue. If not then take the phone in to see if it's your sim card. If it's not the sim card then just get a replacement. Good luck.

Replaced through carrier. No issues. They said theyd had a lot of returns for this issue. Had my new phone the next day.

Is there a way to undo these changes, I mean revert back to original state/backup?

Try to Load Default NV
and it will rebuild your EFS ..

I just unlocked mine with this method.everthing went fine as far as I can tell ..on reboot it now says unlocked custum with a padlock animation "unlocked"i don't have another sim to test ...

I have a Rogers I337M, and it unlocks fine. Just bad luck?

Unfortunately, people don't read. The "Unlock for free" thread is full of warnings and there are still people screwing their phone's up. It's still full of, "Guys, it didn't work for me,why?" and my favorite, "Guys, my phone won't unlock at all now" threads. At this point, I just laugh at the fools. Oh, and the warnings were there before you tried it as well.

More Wifi Issues.

No I'm sure we're all aware that there are quite a few issues with Wifi not working on S4 with certain ROMs/Kernels/Modems etc etc.
Now I've tried so many ROMs stock & custom, loads of different Modems, an assortment of Kernels and many tricks/hacks to try and get it working but nothing.... absolutely nothing.
I'm currently on ParanoidAndroid 3.99-RC2 27/12/13. Wifi obviously won't switch on, it can't seem to even find the MAC address even though the file is there to be read from and I can view it as a text document. Even more strange is that under the '/Data/misc/wifi/' folder, all that is in there is one file called 'softap.conf' and a folder called 'sockets'. Now I haven't actually deleted the 'wpa_supplicants.conf' file, it was just never created, along with the rest of the contents for that folder. Unless what I read about Symlinks the other day meant that the actual working folder has changed recently.
But list of things I have tried:
Deleting .cid.info file
Deleting wpa_supplicant.conf file
Editing build proper 'Ro.secure.storage=false' attribute
Doing the SQlite trick
Pulling the battery whilst it's on
Using programs like Wifi Fixer - they just tell me my wifi is stuck
Using *#0011# to turn off power saving
Selecting the Wifi Region Code
Unticking Wifi Optimisation
Changing Wifi during sleep action
Using *#*#4696#*#*, It states "Configured Networks: Disabled", "Wifi State: Disabled" and "Supplicant Sate: UNITIALIZED"
More testing:
Different Modems
Different Kernels
Different ROMs
Different Wifi-Fixes
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated or any addition tricks to try that may help.

Dial *#12580*369# to check software and hardware information.

Equally didn't work, take it, it's one of the codes that only work on Stock or TW based ROMs?

I stated that I was on a custom ROM in my opening post... Equally I stated that it didn't matter what ROM I used it didn't work on any of them, from complete stock ROMs to AOSP and Google.
Flashing stock ROM now so that I can test those codes.

Sorry for my words if they made u feel bad. You must understand that the custom ROMS have own thread and we can't try all of them and solve the fails/problems/troubles that can appears. It's nothing personal :highfive:

Here's the screenshot. Some codes like 526 and 528 which I've been told reloads the Wifi drivers doesn't seem to work at all which is a bit of a shame.

1- Turn off ur phone. Go to DOWNLOAD MODE and Flash THIS (unrar it before) in Odin as PHONE/CP!!
2- When u finish the process ur phone will reboot
3- Try if u have WIFI. If not make a factory reset:
- Make a Internal Memory backup
- From your home screen press the apps icon in the lower right corner.
- Find and press the settings icon.
- In the upper end of the screen press the accounts tab.
- In the bottom of the next screen press the Backup and reset button.
- Press the factory data reset.
- Read the info on your cell phone screen and hit Reset device.

Unfortunately after going back to the stock ROM, I have tried both, I did the Wifi-Fix again, just to humour myself, but it didn't work. Though since going back to Stock ROM it is able to find the MAC address, which it wasn't doing on AOSP ROMs. Short of rooting the device again and fiddling with files I don't know what else I can try on completely Stock to make it work

Ok, for about the first time ever Kies, has actually picked it up, says there is also an update available now. What would you like the Screenshot of? Or should I just go ahead with the update and hope for the best?

Sorry, yes I did the Factory Reset earlier as a lot of people have said that solved the issue.

The screenshot was exactly for that. I think the new update will solve ur problems. Update ur phone relaxed with Kies3. Anyway write here again if something go wrong

Okay, cheers for the help so far. Shame I didn't think of Kies before, use to be the worse software known to man. Just going to take about an hr to download the the update due to Samsung's pants servers.

Hahahah. Yes it is slower than a turtle but safe. You have now all correct: firmware, modem and CSC (MJ5). Kies 3 will get it as an official UPDATE. We hope all go ok . Take your time sir and enjoy the rest of the day :highfive:

Well after waiting over an hour for it to finish it's updated and everything seems to have gone fine. The only issues is that Wifi still doesn't work.

What happend when try to conect wifi? Explain me with more details pls

No signal - Can't connect to network

Hey guys I'm having a little problem with my GT-i9505. Problem being that I cannot get any reception on my device. It first occurred when I flashed a 4.3 rom over my 4.4.2 rom. I've tried switching to several different roms, both 4.3 and 4.4, yet none can fix the problem. I've tried to flash at least a dozen modem's in a bid to fix it. I searched for the modem suitable to my device and yet they still didn't work. I even tried to just install the official Samsung 4.4.2 rom via Odin, yet I'm still having the same problem. My baseband does change whenever I flash a new modem, but I still cant get a signal. When I try to search for a network in settings it lists the main carriers in the UK, but when I try to select mine (3 UK) it doesn't allow me to register, clicking select automatically yields the same results too. I've been searching for hours today on how to fix this, but just can't seem to find a method that helps. Any suggestions?

Have you tried manually entering the APN settings for 3 UK?

Take your S4 to a repair shop. Use Phil,s recovery when you re-root, install Omega ROM or another Samsung based ROM and, using Philz Touch 6 recovery, make a copy of your EFS file so if / when it happens again you can reinstall Omega or whichever ROM you installed and, using Philz recovery, you can reinstall your EFS file.
To make the backup, reboot recovery - backup and restore - custom backup - x (only in efs backup) - start custom backup - choose where to put the backup.
I use Omega as a reference because I know it will not screw up your EFS file.

Is there a way to fix this without having to spend anything? I literally can't afford to take it to a repair shop at this time

Also, my IMEI still shows as it should (corresponds with the IMEI on the back of my phone)

I had the same problem with my i9500 after flashing a Slim rom Perhaps you can get a copy of an efs file from someone with the same phone and then put it on your phone, or get the information you need from your phone company.

im really really desperate to get mine fixed also with the same problem, my imei is ok but not getting any signal at all, no matter what i try or how many sims i've tried

Did you try to remove the SIM CARD and switch off /on the phone to clean internal SIM register and to reinsert your SIM card again?
This worked for me once.

Nothing is wrong with my Sim slot cause when my sim card is in i can see my network name Wen I slide down status bar, only that no signal at all

I now have exactly the same problem as you. I tried (once again) to install a new ROM on my i9500 (SOKP this time) and now (for the third time) my phone won't register on the network. I'll take it to China Unicom in the morning and let you know what happened. Unfortunately I don't speak Chinese very well but I will try to watch what the repair guy does. Perhaps it will be of some help.

I took the phone to China Unicom but the tech that repaired it last time wasn't there.

i'm on three uk network and signal indoors is absolutely atrocious! (especially since they started "upgrading" to 4g networks - i had the exact same problem with t-mobile switched to becoming ee, i don't know why these companies are so intent on breaking networks which worked perfectly before by "upgrading" them).

My brother who lives in dubai used his sim card in this phone but ever since i got the phone in Pakistan ive tried using my sim but i get no service.
My guess is it only works with 4g LTE but i cant try cuz where i live here's only 3g and 2g coverage.
So i started using it as a wifi tablet.
Dialed *#06# and it showed both imei numbers but ever si ce i updated to purenexus 7.1.2 rom it gives me the same service error but dialing *#06# gives nothing but two plain zeroes like in the screenshot. Can anyone please help me resolve this i would greatly appreciate any help regarding this.please help my phone is useless without a sim card.
Screenshots show how it detects the sim card perfectly and gets the number.

Please bro u gotta help me. Non of it is workin. I flashed a debloated version of stock rom through
Twrp. But imei is still zero. Im freaking out I don't know what to do

I've never used rsdlite. Can u please provide me a tutorial for my phone and how I can flash all the files. I only know flashing through fastboot or twrp. Thanks
