Boost is basically a Sprint MVNO, so G900Ps should be inherently compatible. All you should have to do is change the APN for data and MMS to work

well, if youre running the stock ROM, you might not be able to set a custom APN. Id just flash twrp, make a backup in twrp once installed, install a compatible ROM then change the apn from the more settings \ data settings menu. Googling "boost mobile apn settings" should get you what you need for those fields. And for a first time APN changer, there are about 8 or so fields that you have to change to a specific set of alpha characters, slashes and all. Im at work, but ill check thei sthread later if i remember, or you can HMU on google hangouts later. im youdoofus there too.

Ok. I unlocked the apn menu so I can add custom apns. Not sure what to do tho. Even adding an apn, how would that give the phone number and imei number to this phone to be active like a reg phone? I have a sprint evo 4g thats flashed to boost that I use now. Im trying to activate the s5 tho.
Oh, you have to get a sim from them. The evo activates via cdma

i wish it was that easy. my evo was flashed using a samsung icognito. so boost thinks im using a samsung incognito. therefore i have to continue to make them think im using the incognioto and since it dont have a sim, they probably wont do it. which is y i need to flash it like the evo was flashed. or flash a sim card so the sim acts like the incognito.

it is that easy. Youre talking about two completely different animals. Your current phone uses CDMA for its activation, LTE devices are totally different. Boost is a sprint MVNO and sprint thought that clearwire was the way to go back in the evo days, which is why your evo doesnt have a sim card slot (clearwire was its own bespoke technology and didnt use sim cards). Dont think im right? Fine, just order a sim that isnt linked with your account, put a minimal amount of service on it, pop it in your phone and when it works, dont be surprised

im not saying i dont belive you. im just trying to avoid losing my current plan. its the $35 unlimited 3g plan. they dont think i have an android phone. im just not sure they can put my service on a sim and not raise my monthly rate? being as the incognito doesnt use a sim, do u think they would still put my service on a sim anyway?

if youre trying to retain the 3g unlimited plan, then youre likely going to need to do the same thing that you did with the incognito. moving an imei from phone to phone is teetering on the stuff not allowed on xda. im out on this

i know its called cloning, and that term is rather taboo here (hence why i refrained from using it), but MOAR is what i ran for over a year, and its a rockstar!
also, cloning an IMEI is only "ok" as long as you own both devices and NEVER part with the donor phone. I guess you could hulk smash it or lock it in a safe, but yeah.... touchy subject here

After using some CDMA crack tools, I get it running on ChinaTelecom network now.
The 3G data link works very well.
I think it can be used on other CDMA network provider also, such as sprint.
I was really hoping that Sprint was going to announce the XOOM at CITA
Hopefully Sprint users won't have to rely on hacks like this
Nevertheless, good work

Why not? And if so, you'll be probably be notified by moderator in a kind way
PS: by the way, your 3g provider doesn't require a sim card or you've somehow managed to use built-in sim card slot?

If you have any questions as to whether it's allowed, feel free to PM me the instructions before posting and I'll let you know.

How can you use this on sprint for instance unless you do an imei hack which is illegal. The device has to be activated on a carrier that does data only like sprint but the device's imei will have to be changed for that to work. I'm not sure how overseas works but getting this working on sprint isn't happening.

not necessarily.. imei is just an identifier or ID for the phone.. if your imei isn't blacklisted, you can use it on any network.. doesn't matter if it's locked to a certain provider.. and you don't need to hack the imei to make your phone work with another network.. you just need an unlock code, unlocked phone or re-program the phone to make it work on another network.. phone (tablet)unlocking and imei hacking are two different things.. you only hack the imei if you wanna clone another phone or if the imei is blacklisted.. now those are illegal..

I don't know about Sprint but I took another CDMA provider's phone and altered it using the moto hack tools long ago (KRZR) and put it on Verizon. Never had to change the ESN/IMEI. Just modified the settings in the tool so it looked for Verizon's network, logged into My Verizon and put the ESN from behind the battery in the box... whalla, non-Verizon phone on their network.
OK, I wrote a guide about EvDO hacking at

Actually when I looked at the steps for doing this I realised it is so so far beyond my understanding level that I wouldnt even know where to start. So unfortunately I havent even attempted this. I would love to get this working but I have pretty much given up on the idea unless I find someone who knows how to do this in person....
Apparently Sprint is not allowing phones to be migrated to the Ting network until after 1 year of release. I own a S2 which I would like to use as a donor phone. It is activated and working but I've wanted to upgrade to the S4 because of the camera and faster processors. Does anyone know if this is possible. I've tried changing the ESN/MEID but not the IMEI and it won't activate. I may try changing the IMEI as well but don't know the S2's IMEI. I didn't want to do this if it is not possible. I'd be willing to try with some assistance if someone wants to guide me through the process. I don't know if there is anything you have to do with the SIM card either.
If someone has knowledge, can they let me know?
Thanks!

There's a whole section on cloning on the SII Epic 4G Touch about this for Boost Mobile.
I'm sure it's a grey area, however if you are the owner of both phones, I don't believe cloning is an issue. I would have loved to have cloned a phone just for back up purposes as well, especially when I brick one of them when fooling around with different roms.

I have my s4 flashed to boost. S2 don't have sims so that's why u don't have a imei. Also your probably getting 4g wimax which u would not get using the s4 only 3g. It can be done I'm almost positive.

Ok.. now that I have bought a Ting S4, I've had some time to fool around with the Sprint S4. I have cloned my phone, they will ring at the same time and I can answer a call. However it cannot dial out. What does not work is 4G LTE as that is controlled/activated/authorized by the SIM card as couldn't clone that card. The interesting thing is that if I swap cards the 4G LTE will work. The 3G works fine. Any idea on why the voice can't dial out properly? ESN, IMEI, MEI numbers are all the same and I have tried to activate it through the normal process.
The interesting thing is that I couldn't clone the S4 with an S2 ESN.
I broke my sprint phone, but I can upgrade to a new phone now on Sprint. I want to use the Sprint One Up Plan for a bit, then leave the contract since I don't believe it has a contract. I plan on using the G2 as my replacement. I want to move to T-Mobile later, and I know the G2 can be used on Sprint. I also have read here that the G2 comes factory locked by Sprint, and Sprint will one unlock it for international use. Is there something that I could flash to the G2 to allow me to use it on T-Mobile when I switch?
Basically, how can I use domestic USA GSM on a Sprint LG G2?
I will at least root and unlock the phone internationally first anyway, since I need to use outside of the country. Flashing ROMs and things like that is not a problem for me.

Thats risky due to the fact that tmo uses different bands than sprint plus the radio waves are different and sprint is gsm and tmo is cdma

Sprint is CDMA and T-Mobile is GSM...
Anyway, I know the G2 supports all of the bands, so I don't see why this can't happen. Sprint has just locked away the domestic GSM capabilities. Why is flashing theT-Mobile modem such a risk then? WOuld I be able to flash it back?

Sorry always get that bavkwards the issue is with two things the radio, which you said you could flash the modem no problem. Then the biggest issue is the sim card now im not sure if the sprint variant has a sim card slot. But from what my buddy has told me who is a tmobile phone tech they dont have away to enable your service with out the sim card. For some reason they dont do their services like most carriers and just use the phones imei number to set service. If im wrong im sorry and hopefully you can get everything switched. And thank you for the imformation i did not know the g2 has all bands hidden inside the phone. I was just worried that the radio bands would get you. And to answer your question yes you can always just flash them back.

No problem. If I helped give me my first thank you. I'm going to go to the Sprint Store soon and see what they say. The Nexus 5 seems to be compatible with any carrier, but I like the G2 just a bit better. Sprint has a help topic regarding replacing the SIM , so that is not an issue. I don't want to take any unneccessary risks flashing, because that is what broke my last two Sprint phones lol.

So where do I get the files? And can you confirm this has a good chance of succeeding?
It will not work.. Sprint doesn't unlock the phone for domestic US GSM carriers and the 2 models for Sprint and T-Mobile are completely different. You flash anything like the radios and you'll have a massive brick. If you want to move between carriers, get the Nexus 5.

You will not get domestic GSM service with Sprint atm. Hang it up until a solution if any will come. Even after that, it will never be fully compatible with Tmob bands. I love/hate Verizon.

Yes, Unlock for about $2 on eBay. Will work with Tmo & ATT, and their MVNOs. You may, or may not, need to switch to 3G for first call to register (I had to), then you can switch back to LTE without any further problems. You also may need to manually add APN, but I did not need to.
It's a pretty solid phone and can be had for $40 at Walmart, or price-match elsewhere. Really stinks that the bootloader can't be unlocked. I didn't think it would bother me...but it really does. Oh well, I knew it before I bought it. Will be a good backup.

Didn't help. Still says "Emergency calls only"
Have you tried entering your APN manually? Try Googling Tmobile apn settings.
Others are getting it to work on Tmo.. https://slickdeals.net/f/10418732-s...w-free-store-pickup?p=103877488#post103877488

Maybe your SIM card is activated on another phone. Happened to me on MetroPCS. I put in a SIM that was activated on another phone...it worked fine for about 5 mins., then all service was removed and it said Emergency Calls Only. You really should try entering the APN manually, if you haven't done so already. I'm now using Cricket with no problems at all.

I think that's the issue. Same thing happened to me. I tried to use my gf's SIM from MetroPCS in mine. It worked for like 5 mins and then lost service. MetroPCS doesn't recognize this phone for some reason because it is a Verizon phone. You could call them and try to add it to your account. Cricket picked it up easily. I just had to do a lot of searching for the correct APN.

Call MetroPCS and register your SIM to your E4, go with Cricket, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless. There's always a possibility that Metro won't allow your Verizon E4 on their network because they want you to buy theirs. I'm sure...as you know, theirs don't even have a fingerprint reader.

Personally, if I were you...I'd go with Cricket, At&t, Straight Talk (At&t), or Total Wireless(Verizon), because T-Mobile (MetroPCS) coverage is not all that great.

Hi, I have the unlocked essential phone from Amazon. Can anyone on AT&T share their APN settings with me? I have already tried a few I found on Google, and tried changing some settings with that special number you put in the dialer to no avail. No matter where go I get HSPA. Nothing else.

I read it when I first got the device... It doesn't show in their system... So I still have LTE... But if I told them... I'd be screwed...

I switched from Verizon to Att and was at a store with this very same Essential phone and we activated it right there and I have no issues with LTE! Hmmm!

This is outrageous. So even if I was to submit a return for my device, and get a different unlocked phone, I would not be able to get 4G? I've used unlocked phones on AT&T & got LTE years ago!

Yeah I think something else is up. I have constantly used unlocked phones on AT&T for the past 6 years and no issues. Even now I have the Essential and I have perfect LTE. Sorry man I wish I new what was up with your device, but I don't. Only thing I can think of is maybe you have a defective device and might think about returning it or warranty repair?

I can't find the article I read... Nor the webpage that had the fine print I'm referring to...
Maybe they changed their policy... I know wifi calling and HD voice aren't available for essential... Because it's not an AT&T branded device...

I dont care about wifi calling and I don't know what HD is. But I'll tell ya what. I'm pissed. This is my third phone this year because the other two wouldn't work at all. I just sent essential an email.

My understanding of the situation is it's all Big Blue's fault... And has nothing to do with essential...

Wouldn't doubt it. Nonetheless, thanks shedding some light on the issue. Luckily my dad still pays my bill, or I'd be out of there so fast. I hate AT&T.

So APN is not the problem, now I'm gonna have to drive to AT&T & make a scene. If anyone has any more info I'd be glad to hear it. If someone did change their APN and got it to work I'd love to know.

My point is that Att knows that I have an Essential phone ( we installed the sims in the store) and in fact I have 2 of them on my account and they both use LTE. I have seen the H show up when traveling down I70 in Eastern Kansas but is almost always says LTE. Maybe I am misunderstanding the issue here. Here are my APN settings.
Edit: I also am set to Global under prefered network types. Where I live the Speed seems much faster than set on 4G/LTE from my speed tests 45Mb vs 20Mb not sure if that is scientific or not.

I have an idea tell me if you think it'll work. I just re read the thread that kinda explains this. I go back to at&t and have them put a new sim card in my old Zenfone 2, which is micro SD. It is unlocked and I had 4G working on it. Then cut the sim card and put it in the essential phone and Bam. What do you think? Or is it already in this "database"?

Yes while you could use the device on AT&T as many of have it was not a recognized device by at&t. If you gave them your IMEI they wouldn't recognize the device as an official AT&T compatible device. Why some people like yourself don't get the full AT&T experience like LTE. That won't be an issue now. The essential PH-1 is an officially recognized device by AT&T.
So do I need a new sim now? I've been messing around with settings and still can't get 4G.
