Heyas,
For some odd reason my V20 isn't charging all the way to 100%, only 92% (even overnight with OEM cable/charger). Its been happening for a few days now.
I'm also getting bad battery life. I can easily get a 1% drain in a few minutes and that's just browsing google news.
Has this happened to anyone yet? or anyone got any ideas?
Its full stock and about a month or so old
Have you tried the dreaded factory reset?
Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk
Not yet.. its called "dreaded" for a reason. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and do it tomorrow or something
The LG Backup and Restore is pretty good. I tried it a week ago when I did a factory reset and it restored most of the stuff.

I got it fixed.. Shut it down, took the battery out and glared at it for a few minutes. I think I shocked it into behaving properly

Weird! I'm at the same point too! Stuck at 92% this morning! It was getting stuck at 97% a few days ago and went on for 5 days or so like that!
I had this issue being stuck at 93% and ran the smart doctor and it noted zedge at causing issues with battery. Uninstalled zedge and rebooted and all was fine. Idk if zedge was truly the issue but man is it full of overly intusive ads now. It's akways had ads but now it's insane. Kept promoting me to install clean master and other crap.
Zedge is pure crap and was eating up battery on my phone too. I just get ringtones from websites now and Google searches.
I have horrible battery life. I am on my second LG V20...Still the original battery....LG & T-Mobile decided only to send a phone to me without a new battery...

I flashed my vibrant to bionix 1.3.1 a while back, pretty much a week after is was released. Its been great up to about 2-3 days ago. I had a full charge at work at today around 2 pm, I got home and checked the battery life at around 6 pm it was at 72%. I sent out about 4 texts lastnight. Got up this morning is was at 44%. I used to get about 2-3 days out of light use. It will probably be dead by 2 pm again today.
What gives?
Network data off -
Black background -
Brightness is the lowest -
Idk maybe randomly reading it wrong? P.s. Why dont people charge their phones at night?!?!? Thats what I do
Oh i do as well usually. But like i said, the battery is starting to drop so fast that by lunch that day it was already at like 49%. By 2 pm is was full and so on. I just dont understand why its dropping so fast thats all.
Might have something to do with the battery
Check what's running in the background. The other night I was just using the phone normally and put it to sleep, checked it a few times and it was dropping 1% every 15 minutes or so. Noticed it kept checking into something. VVM and Market Checkin was running, killed it and it seemed to help. Also discovered (might not be true) that the New MAPS and GMAIL apps constantly check in and drain the battery after removing the updates phone seems to last longer/as it did before..:/
oo maybe that might be it. I Just updated a boat load of my apps a few days ago. P.s. how do you remove just the update?

or sadlly Your battery cant hold the juice anymore because it was recharged to zero few times too many , sorry
This is crazy. I just came to xda to post my bionix 1.3.1 battery problem. I been running it for a week and no issues. But this morning I took the phone off the charger and within 10 minutes of using it I was down to 85%. Usually after my morning usage I'd be around 93-95%. But that's not the issue I wanted to post.
I was trying to wait for Black Ice since Frost had the best battery life of any rom I've tried...just not feeling the Frost theme. So I started to download the Frost zip & got the phone on the charger.
Even after I put it back on the charger my battery life kept going down. Plugged it in at 85% and a few minutes later I noticed it was at 83%

look for GMAIL and MAPS, click on them and then where it says "Uninstall update" you want to click that. Done.

I have the same problem. I have system panel running all the time. When I sleep, the phone sleeps too and uses about 1% of battery per hour. But when im actually using the phone, even if the use is minimal like sending a few texts etc. The battery consumption is far greater than the use. Top apps in system panel monitoring is usually system process and system itself. How do I correct this issue?

I agree with you also. These guys must have some super batteries to get that kind of life out of it. lol.
I have had this phone for about 2 months now and everything has been exceptional with the phone. Have seen people complain about the battery life, however it has been really good as far as my experience is concerned. However since a week I have seen the battery screwing up a lot... A LOT.
I always used to charge my phone daily in night. Plug it in..set an alarm of 3.5 hours (yes it takes 3.5 hours to fully charge from less than 10% stage) wake up..turn charging off..sleep back. Okay, some of u might think it is stupid but can’t risk of leaving it on charge the whole night and burn my phone. Anyhow, so, since a week what I do is I charge my phone whenever I want (read it on a few thread and articles)..be it 50%... 80% or even 92%. I just make sure its 100% whenever I leave home.
But something weird has started happening... The battery percentage keeps on changing.. For instance:
when I unplug it..its 100%.. within minutes of usage it drops to 99..then 98.. then 97 and suddenly it rises back to 100%. (Pics attached)
Sometimes when its on charge and I come to check SMSz and reply them.. battery % suddenly drops.. e.g: if its at 99%... it will suddenly change to 96% in a second and in a minute goes back to 99% .. so on and so forth. And sometimes even when its charging..if it is at 80%, it will suddenly shoot up to 100%. The percentage doesn’t change even after a reboot. Weird, isn’t it?
Now the most weird issue, since yesterday the battery life and dropped to 50% less. I used to get 4 hours OST and now I hardly get 2 hours. During night, the battery used to drop 2% in about 6 to 7 hours and yesterday it dropped 15%. There was this one time when it dropped 9% in 6.5 hours (pics attached). Tried seeing through Wale Lock Detector but there were no Awakes during deep sleep. Too weird :s
I don’t really know where did I phuck up as I haven’t installed any shaddy apps or something. Please advice.
My phone info:
All stock. No root (and not looking). No custom Roms whatsoever.
TL;DR... Battery acts weirdly. Shows inconsistent percentages. Suddenly shoots up. Suddenly Drops. And now the On Screen Time has reduced 50%.
It sounds like it's nothing more than a bug.

Thanks for ur reply. How to figure it out? And measures should be taken? Any suggestions?
this has really kept me worried since a few days.
This is "normal" for the N4, and the most/all of them do it. Unreliable drivers, or a hardware fault, not sure.
Here are other threads about the various battery bugs, but there are many more:

I know I searched many threads before posting and mostly had the Shooting up issue only, when charging.
Anyhow, this normal behavior has reduced my battery life a lot.. which I am not liking .. What to do?

Both my N4's (different H/W revisions) have been doing the 100 to 98 to 100 thing as well since new. Battery life is still excellent for me. An RMA would probably do the same.

You're pretty much stuck with that phone as you only have 15 days to RMA a device, your only option would be to send it into LG for a repair. My battery has acted up like this once so I stopped using the stock charger and it hasn't happened since.

Rebooting might help. Could also be an app that updated that now doesn't play nice. You could try a factory reset just to clear out some crap but I'd back everything up just in case first. Not sure if a factory reset deletes all your user data in memory or not. I only did it once right after I got the phone so can't remember. Hate to lose all your pictures, files, etc. that aren't backed up.

It's normal. The N4 isn't great about showing the exact battery life. In fact, what you see isn't the true percentage, it's an estimation. Don't worry too much about it!

This is a question I can't answer along with any facts. I tried disabling it for 2 days and I noticed the OST reduced from 4 hours to 3.xx hours. May its placebo or something but then I enabled it...thinking if it's not doing any good then it's not doing any harm either.

Happens to me once in awhile. Do a quick reboot, and if that fixes it, I would not worry too much.
Hmmm..
Yesterday when I woke up in morning.. the battery lost 2% only in 6 hours. I felt SOOOO relieved that my "good battery" is back. But who knew what was to come... today I woke up after 7 hours and the battery lost 15% .
My usage is always the same. I force close all the apps I use daily and turn wifi etc all off. So i doubt if its any app.

KitKat didn't kill battery life. Mine is about the same as it was before KitKat. In about 99.999% of the time an app is to blame. I have a simple but arduous method to find the app that's killing your battery.
I agree the battery has taken a hit. I used to ave about 9hrs of screen on time, now about 6hrs. I also have the chromecast issue. Strange thing is that sometimes the screen doesnt even show up In the battery stats. Sometimes the usage time doesnt change when it shows in battery stats. I am stock, 32gb white US model updated with Kies. I have done many factory resets. I have tried it for 2 days without installing any apps or disabling any samsung bloat, with no change in the tablest behavior.

Kitkat sent my note into fits. Battery life was terribly erratic at first. Dropping 30% in an hour, then suddenly jumping back up by 10%.
I tried factory reset.... nothing changed. Then I used the Battery Callibration app from playstore. Ran it and followed instructions exactly. (Waited til it was charged 100%, then run the program, then completely drain battery, then let it charge continuously back up to 100%).
Go figure............ since then things have calmed down and I am getting the same battery life as on my old Jellybeans note. (I know, because I've got two of these tablets and literally compared them side by side.)
Or, it could also be that after firmware upgrade things need a bit of time to settle down. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I am used to android taking a bit to settle in. After my note 3 updated, it seems like it took a month to get back to my "normal". I hope the tablet does too, just frustrating in the mean time
Mine settled down after about 3 days and several resets. Now the battery seems comparable to pre-KitKat.
I don't think it is kit Kat. I'm running kit Kat and easily see 9 hours of screen on. It is most likely an app you have installed that is doing it.

Then not everyone would then mention that it is not change or improved (in stand-by).
No, normally a app or bad file on the sd-card is killing here the battery. All tools to find this out, are already mentioned here. Good luck.
4.4 in and of itself isn't causing poorer battery life. In fact, owners of other devices are reporting improvements. The Exynos N3 for example. There aren't any battery life issue threads on the Pro forums and they have the same h/w and we're most likely using their 4.4 drivers and kernel. There are threads like this in every device forum when an Android version upgrade is released. It's almost always due to a bad flash or a rogue app or service. That and older apps that haven't been updated in ions and aren't playing well with the new OS. People here have reported shorter charging time and longer battery life. So what's being discussed isn't universal. I'd suggest doing a stock recovery and reviewing older apps and those that aren't developed by known and larger developers.
I have a Shield and S4 too. For every poster raving, there seems an opposite view on battery life and the SD card issue.
The SD issue makes battery life debates moot. Google has an Apple wannabe syndrome. Perhaps they will rebrand as Goople.
You can recalibrate the battery by running it down below 20% then recharging. I have seen it recommended to do this every 30 days or so.
My Note 3 with KitKat started using 20-30% of the battery at night while it was idle. Looked and looked and couldn't find a clue to the problem. Decided to reboot, the next night it was fine, used maybe 2-3%

I did have charging problem and battery drain right after KK update. I have to do the Factory Data Reset. Luckily my tablet is back to normal if not better. I did spend sometime go thru all setting. So I managed to get 4 hrs of screen time with moderate use and I still have about 59% of battery.

I just downloaded the update and i noticed that my battery life SUCKS right now and the phone charges EXTREMELY slow... has anyone noticed this problem with their s5 after the update??
From around 9:30pm and 100% battery, i went down to 58% by around 11:30pm of constant use... the phone has been plugged in since then and i am up to only 71%
I am hoping that after this charge it holds a little better but this slow charging is no damn good :/
I'll try it out througout the day tomorrow, but right now I am pretty friggin worried, since until now the battery life and charging were amazing...
No issues here. NI2 working fine, rooted. Check your battery stats to find out what app or service is eating the battery & uninstall or wipe its data. Backup & wipe your phone back to stock if needed.

My phone is happening the same. The phone constantly trying to communicate with cell tower and freezes while I am typing. I flashed fresh a couple of time. I hope that it will be better after a couple of days. Please let me know if there is any setting that I should look into.
I've already tried doing a battery calibration as recommended by many people on the V20 threads, buts this is still happening to me. If I reboot my phone, when the phone comes back on, my battery level has dropped 10-20% (give or take). I know reboots can consume battery, but this is quite a large consumption.
Last night, for example, my battery was at 60%, but after I rebooted, I was immediately at 25%.
Again, I've down the whole calibration thing at least 5x now, and it hasn't helped with this. So now I'm wondering:
1) Is anyone else having this issue, especially with the same variant as me (see below)
2) Is this a Nougat 7.0 issue
3) Is this a battery (hardware) problem. I ordered one of the spare battery kits that come with an extra battery. I figured that I'd try the new battery, but if it doesn't help, then I have a second battery anyway.
ATT variant (h910)

Battery life has been mediocre to poor, and I've disabled so many features by now that it's gotten kinda ridiculous.

Yeah, I didn't think it was normal. I was hoping it was a Nougat 7.0 issue, but I wasn't hearing anyone else with this issue. And as stated too, my battery life hasn't been great. I make it through the day, but only of the phone isn't used much. Otherwise, the battery will drain pretty fast.

What was your calibration method? Running it down to zero once should be good enough then charge with phone on or off without using it to 100%. If still doing it try your other battery. If still doing it exchange.

I pretty much did as you just said.
I ran the battery down until the phone powered off. Then I kept attempting to power it on until the LG logo stopped showing up and the phone said that there wasn't enough power to turn on. Then I charged the phone to 100% while phone was still off. Once it hit 100%, I left it charging for another 2 hours.
Overall, it helped, but once I reboot the phone, the battery always drops quite a bit as stated in my first post.

Overall, it helped, but once I reboot the phone, the battery always drops quite a bit as stated in my first post.

Do you have twrp intalled? I think Lg has a problem with it's battery stats because of the removable battery. On my v10 I had two spare batteries. When one got to like 4% I would power down and pop in the new one. When back on it would read the battery at like 19% or something to the liking. I had to leave my phone off for about 30 secs between changes. I was having similar issues to what you're describing with my v20. I ended up formatting data in twrp and then set my phone up old school style with manual app installation and no data transfer whatsoever. I let the phone die completely and then charged while on uninterrupted. I then at 100% unplugged it and plugged it back in for 20 minutes. My battery has been perfect since. I would also note similar issues on the G4 too. I think this is the cause for the notorious Lg bootloop.. My G4 did it right before the battery drained out and so did my V10..
I had that problem on an old note 4. But not a drastic a jump in percentage. Brought it to Samsung and they just changed the battery and the problem went away.

I have the ATT V20, which doesn't have the bootloader unlocked. So, no TWRP.

I heard similar issues when I had my Note 4, but in this (using a new Android OS that not many other phones have yet), I wasn't sure if this was hardware or software. I really hope the second battery fixes the problem!

I'd rather not since I don't have the time to re-setup all the programs I need for work. It takes several days to get everything up and running again, and after having to do this 2x already this past month thanks to the Note7, I don't want to go through it all AGAIN. Its too much of a hassle and shouldn't be necessary since this is a new phone. I mean, w y reset a new phone that's only a couple weeks old?

Thanks. I only factory reset as a last resort. Ill do it if nothing else fixes the issues (including a new battery).
