Intermittent charge(Help!!) - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello, I'm so sorry for annoying you, but I'm having an intermittent charge when charging the phone, I don't understand why, I haven't dropped the phone or something related with poor care. I plug the charger to the phone, it appears charging but suddenly it stops charging, it happens with all the Roms, even with the stock. I have to disconnect and reconnect the charger to continue, it's randomly. Thanks in advance.

Maybe the cable or the charger have some issues? Try another one.

Oh sorry but I didn't specify, I have tried with a Samsung charger, LG charger and others, even with the USB port from PC.

I had this issue. Also had a weird issue if unusual battery drain. I had to send it back to Motorola to get a battery replacement. Just came back yesterday and has been fine. I do not recommend the turbo charger in my opinion. Moto support told me not to use it...

Okey thanks, I have cm14.1 and TWRP, I have a TWRP backup, it's necessary to return to stock? Like flash stock recovery and restore the stock rom with the backup? Also I flashed ElementalX kernel, then I returned to stock kernel but now on the bootloader says "firmware status: modified", obviously I don't have warranty, the question is, Would Motorola repair the cellphone?

I do not recommend this but this is what I did. I did a restore using fastboot. I also did the overwrite of the boot logo using fastboot. I did the online warranty thing about unusual battery drain. They gave me an email with a prepaid FedEx label to send it to them. Once it was received I did online chat daily and nagged about what's the status of it. All I know is I got it back and it was still unlocked and appears to have been reset because it was back to the black screen. So far I haven't had any problems the last couple days.

I used this thread and YouTube video. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4/how-to/how-to-unroot-moto-g4-return-to-stock-t3417386. Hopefully the link copied. It's in the Moto G4 forums. Make sure you have the correct firmware downloaded and adb tool.

Certain Roms will not boot anymore?

As of yesterday my phone stopped booting certain roms! Im rooted with all the latest twrp, vendor, bootloader, etc. I never encountered this problem and Ive been rooted since day one. I have several custom roms on my phone and only "Resurrection Rom" seems to boot without any problem all the other (Purenexus, benzorom, chroma, exdous) Roms get past the google screen and stay stuck in the boot up screen.. Am I missing something?? Ive checked everything I could. Ive downgraded twrp. Im stump any insight on this would be greatly appreciated..

Never figured anything out? I think im having this same issue with my 6p i tried flashing pure nexus, xTraFactory, and Stock+ but for me it just bootloops and once out of 20 attemps pure nexus will get to the colored logo then freeze and reboot. I long deleted Ressurrection Remix because it was my daily driver and already had a backup made. That went to sh*t though when my backup bootlooped as well so now i have a 6p i can only boot into recovery and bootloader. My laptop with fastboot installed needs a new charger so i use my moms computer to put zips on my phone but i really doubt she will let me install anything on it at all :/. I dont want to flash the factory image and bootloop still though when i get a charger. Ill see if I can boot back into rros fresh.

Well this is quite an old post to awaken but to be short and Frank I had to send my device in to have the motherboard replaced because the 6p still has hardware issues whether it's Huawei's (prolly spelled wrong.) fault or Google's, regardless I just got the motherboard replaced and sold the device immediately because I didn't want to have another paper weight in my hands I now have an essential phone and it is dare I say the most comfortable phone I've ever had. That being said I hope you can Rectify your issues here but you'll have to go through either Huawei or Google, and get one of the two to help you out with a replacement.
This kind of happened to me too. I just updated TWRP and all flash are fine now. Hope this will help someone

Solved it today it was because I tried restoring an old backup with an old version of twrp that has a fatal bug when you restore an EFS. I was truly relieved

How can I go from Unlocked bootloader/B20_Boot back to locked bootloader/B20?

Looks like I have to return my phone to ZTE because a hardware issue has appeared. It doesn't always charge when I plug it in and it never does quick charge 3.0 (Always says to connect original charger to charge faster even with the original charger). Never deep sleeps either.
I used B20_Boot method to unlock bootloader and am I little nervous about sending it back to them in this state. Any ideas guys?
Thanks.

Thanks for the response man, I really appreciate it.
I am pretty paranoid that eventually I won't be able to charge my phone as it seems to be getting worse. If there isn't a way to do it now I guess I'll just send it back in this state. Not like I opted out of any warranty.

I should have said yeah I did try factory reset. I think physically something with the charger port went bad. I was in recovery and the charger wasn't working. So weird.

Hey man I am quoting you so maybe you will notice. You seem pretty knowledgeable about this. Is there a img (twrp backup maybe?) of a working system partition for B20_boot? The final thing I can check is to reflash that and take out all the stuff that root and xposed did.

You should be able to find it in this post, it's a full system image, so unzip and flash with TWRP

There is also a possibility that the charger or cable went bad, only way to know for sure would be with another pair. BTW there is a way to go back to stock to the point that old OTA will flash, see

Unlocked Nexus 6P Stuck in a Bootloop - Proper Reset Necessary?

Since I got my Nexus 6P sometimes it could just hang and then restart, I thought this was nothing major so I did nothing about it. Today however, I got a couple of these restarts in one day and after the last one I can't boot. The unlocked bootloader message appears, then the Google logo and after that it keeps looping. I can get into bootloader, however when I try anything there (boot into recovery, BP tools or "factory") it just starts looping again. I have tried restoring nexus 6p system images with Google's "flash-all" bat file, and with Heisenberg's method on 2 different android versions and it goes through without problem, however I'm still stuck in a bootloop.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Try flashing all of the factory image files manually. If it still fails to boot, contact Google / Huawei for an RMA.

I've been through 5 so far. I'll give them a call tomorrow morning and see how it goes. Hopefully the warranty still covers me. I've done some digging around, and what is happening to me is the exact same thing as what is happening to some people through the OTA nougat update, with the only solution being exactly what you said.
I just really hope I can actually get a replacement as I have done nothing wrong on my side, it seems to be purely Huawei's fault. Thanks anyway.
Called them this morning. The person on the phone said that because the phone was rooted, it would need out of warranty repairs (which is ridiculous as this exact issue happens to people that were never rooted and didn't even unlock the bootloader, who can get a replacement for free). I'll see how it goes.

The guy at Huawei didn't really know what the warranty covers. I mentioned trying to restore from Google's factory images (implying that I unlocked the bootloader) and he said that this might have voided the warranty (which I'm pretty sure it hasn't) as it is a software modification in a sense, but he's not entirely sure. They're going to send me a box to send the phone to them, and through that they'll be able to tell that no modifications have happened I hope (it's technically all stock and unrooted now, it just doesn't boot up). If they do try and charge me, I'll call the actual repairs team (as they're not available today) and explain the situation. No way am I paying for something like this as it hasn't happened through my own fault.
Under Europe regulations THEY have to formally prove the software modifications lead to the hardware fault (if that's a hardware fault) and that would be really bad publicity for Huawei. Not sure how UK applies that to its local right.
Root may very well void the warranty based on an old thread on XDA here that's buried in the general section somewhere, but an unlocked bootloader absolutely will not void the warranty.
Hi, can someone please upload the build.prop for nexus 6p 7.1 dev preview, I did some changes and now stuck in boot loop, also the backed up copy that I have has previous version names and all according to 7.0 , I am stuck in twrp and don't have computer then how is it possible to make changes directly from twrp terminal, I tried "vi build.prop" and was able to see build.prop but couldn't edit, Thanks
Here you go https://paste.debian.net/897221
For anyone wondering, I got the phone the other day and they fixed it under warranty. No extra costs or anything (I enclosed a letter giving proof as to why I believe it should still be under warranty, and it worked fine). The serial number and IMEI has changed, so it leads me to think that it was indeed a motherboard failure. Thanks for the help!

Hey... How old is your phone? Your battery has likely degraded over time?!
Downgrading won't fix your issue. I am on 7.1.1 and don't have any issue regarding battery, though of course, the battery life is not as good as it used to when the phone was brand new, but I guess that's normal...

Wow... 1 year only. Are you sure the phone was brand new and not a refurbished unit? It's strange it shuts down so early. You could try installing "AccuBattery" from the playstore and let it run a few full charges. It will give you an approximative estimation of your battery capacity based on the original capacity versus its actual capacity. Your symptoms in my own opinion is a sign of an early degraded battery. It can happen. Though I haven't really seen this on the N6. I'd try to look for an oem battery and replace it myself, it's easy on the N6.
If you still want to downgrade, backup your internal storage first, because you'll have to unlock the bootloader and it will wow the whole data partition. Flashing an older bootloader, at least downgrading to 5.x may brick your device. I don't know for 7.x > 6.x, but I don't recommend it. Anyway, just flash system.img with fastboot once your bootloader is unlocked. Go in recovery and do a factory reset and you should be good to restart with 6.x Android.
Hoping you'll solve your issue either way... :good:

My bad. I switch between N6 and N6P forum and really thought I was replying to a question in the N6 Q/A forum.
Ok, it's a known issue. People have this problem running 6.x and 7.x.
Since your phone is just 1 year and 2 months old, try to RMA... Sadly, except replacing your battery it's the only option. Some users out of warranty have .Anaged to get a replacement since it's a widespread issue. Have you seen the thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/nexus-6p-randomly-shutting-50-youre-t3522911
Sorry for having kind of missguided in the first place.
Good luck...
The early shutdown issue is well known but not the fast discharge after unplugging. At least I've never heard of that being a known issue. I would take the previous poster's advice and install AccuBattery to check your battery health. Some people have definitely experienced a badly degraded battery on the 6P after a year and either RMAd their phone or replaced the battery. Huawei did extend the warranty on the 6P so you might still be able to get RMA or warranty service at a local repair shop. Good luck.

tmobile s8 boot loop-ish

hey all,
Saturday morning a wake up to my alarm on my phone (SM-G950U T-Mobile Stock since new) and turn off the alarm and proceed to check email and scroll social medias. A few minuted later phone turns off and starts boot looping. Occasionally it would boot to home screen and i could unlock it but then maybe 30 seconds later it would start boot loping again. Now it either just boot loops or boots straight to recovery . I have tried flashing current firmware in case it was corrupted and i have tried accessing it through ADB. I know for a fact USB debugging is on because I just used abd to pull wifi passwords 2 weeks ago, but when I try to [ abd devices] if comes up as unauthorized and I cannot proceed. I know everyone will suggest a factory reset, but I am hoping someone has a trick for extracting files. I dont care about most on my phone, but I would like to save the pics from my GF and I trip this past august. Apparently I didnt have my photo library set to sync to cloud -_-
thanks
-chip
update: it appears there is a pattern. it boot loops or boots to recovery (after a blue failed system update screen) 99% of the time. the 1% it boot fully and then crashes is only when battery is 0% . it for some reason is only trickle charging and isnt getting enough juice when it does boot fully to stay on . But if i leave it charging a while it will then only boot loop or boot to recovery. Strange...any way I had enough time this past boot to reauthorize usb debug.....wish me luck with adb
....nevermind. still shows up as unauthorized

Ive had similar cases happen with older models. May be time for a battery. They will do crazy **** when the battery crashes. When you flashed stock firmware you lost adb authorisation. Need to get the system back first for that.

Cheapest fix in my opinion. I saw another thread a guy dropped his. Now detects 9008 how to fix. More than likely a phone wont just not boot. Or lose programming unless a hardware issue. So if it was just running and quit. Not modding stuff really. More likely than not its gonna be some form of software. But hardware.

Replaced Daughter board and battery. No improvement :/ bummer
the only time i can get it back into recovery is after a "successful" flash with odin. by successful i mean that it says it worked but it just continues to boot loop or boots to recovery. attached is a picture of the info i get in recovery every time. hope someone can shed some light in the issue. im using my old phone so i dont feel pressured to call the data a loss and try a factory reset just yet....my old phone is a POS though

Yea some one tried to root it using the edl safestrap thread. Only wsy to fix it is filled the steps and reflash jrkruses pie rom. One of my mother boards are in the same state. That's the only way dm verity fails. Is his rom method.
There's some easy to flash a cache wipe in Odin but I hadn't found it yet. I have 2 mother boards and one is identical. I flash this stock and lose download or recovery. but the errors you show are only from doing that edl safestrap
Ill be honest..i have no idea what you are talking about. Ive messed with the software with previous devices and never heard of safe strap. This one has been bone stock since I got it from Tmobile and i haven't attempt to flash anything until i had this issue. never tried to root it
