So Costco is having a sale on the Moto G 4th 32GB for $165, I thought only Amazon version with Ads that cannot be unlocked, but I tried to unlock it and says not qualify.
Anyone else having this issue? Any way around it? Thank you

Be more exact when asking a question. What did you do precisely to unlock it.

We on Verizon are doomed with this phone all around. So sad cause I thought that for $100 and Motorola's bootloader unlock program, this phone would have some really great development. But no, Verizon has to be a bunch of controlling douches for no reason at all. Just because. X(

I got mine; but am dismayed at having to wait for the "actual promo code" still! Motorola wants to delay the purchase I guess. How did you get two? Did you have an assume name too like book authors?

Have you received confirmation emails, or actual codes?
I received the conformation email and it says I'll have my actual code by midnight.
Same here. Got the email but no code until tonight
I registered my email address and my wife's. We both got the confirmation emails, but no codes yet. I'm not too worried since I'm using one of the codes to get the discount retroactively on my X. The other code is just in case my wife decides she wants a new phone.
I got a discount code but I am on Verizon and I just don't know what to do b/c I need an unlocked bootloader.
Does anyone know if the Pure Edition has the CDMA radios in it and they are just disabled or does the Pure Edition lack the CDMA radios?
What about the guy in China who sold the bootloader unlock codes for the Moto X 2013? Has anyone contacted him about codes for the Moto X 2014?

They're gone!!!!
the discount code system is probably the smarter way to do this so that they know how many users to expect and plan server load accordingly. we don't want another nexus 6 fiasco.
If anyone managed to get a spare promo code for the UK deal then I'd be eternally grateful to receive it PM me if you are feeling charitable.
Cheers!
Wow they are gone already.. Good thing I got mine in at 11:01...still no code tho
Sign up at 12:00PM ET, received code at 12:52pm
Just got actual code: two to go.

Mine is EU variant (UK retail). I had sent my phone to Moto service centre thinking that they would fix it. After 6 weeks they asked me to pay £14.40 and returned the phone unrepaired with the reason that my phone was rooted. Now I have to find my way of fixing it.

Yes just found out myself the Motorola tech support sucks. For a carrier unlocked Android phone how do u find out about updates? They said contact the carrier..why when the device isn't carrier branded..
Forgive me as this is off topic

I forgot to mention one more thing here. When the device was returned to me, the back cover was broken. The service centre didn't bother breaking the back cover. I have escalated the case and still pending with them for the past three days. **** services. I regret having selected Moto product. I recently bought Moto Style which I am now thinking that I should not have selected moto product anymore.
Even though we tested a Verizon Pixel, the bootloader was not locked. That means rooting and installing ROMs is possible; that should allay some fears about Google turning the Pixel into a closed realm.

? soon enough we'll get a verification from the people who are getting it from vzw on 10/20. Sadly my date is 10/28.
That's great news! I pre-ordered from Verizon to replace my note 7. I kept reading that it might be locked so i looked into ordering from google but the Pixel XL was sold out by the time I tried to.

Same here I've been having second thoughts about my pre order with Verizon since the rumor was the bootloader was locked. I've been checking Google store a few times a day to see if they got any in stock. I hope this is true. Is there a way to check quick while in in the Verizon store when my pre order comes in on the 20th? Before i give them my note 7 ?
I put all my money on this one being just like the Nexus 6. Guess I should get a lottery ticket today.

One minute it's locked then next it's unlocked. We should all know soon enough. But knowing Big Red I would expect it to be locked.

It was never locked. All of that was fear mongering based on speculation, a rep said this or that which is unreliable, and one who claims they had prerelease firmware locked down.
Meanwhile we have someone with a Verizon Pixel in hand who has confirmed its unlockable.

You will want to find instructions for the Pixel because it's new hardware and software, but it's fairly straightforward. Here is a video link from the Nexus 6P for reference.

I'm wondering if it only locks when it's activated on a Verizon SIM. I might be grasping at straws and hoping here. I wonder if anyone can start the phone up with a T-Mobile and/or AT&T sim in and see what happens.
Take sim out before powering on to check. That's my best guess and what I'll do.

Yes, we need to get someone prior to the first boot with the SIM installed.
So I just unlocked a brand new Prime ads G4 and I was just curious, has anybody tried unlocking a recent G5 Plus to see if they're unlockable too?
