Can anyone confirm whether the Axon 7 has Beidou as well as GPS and GLONASS for location accuracy? This can be confirmed using the AndroiTS GPS app and looking to see if US, Russian and Chinese flags appear.
And compass?
Yes it has Beidou, i see 2 satellites here in austria.

Affirmative on the compass.
Though my gps lags behind, all sensors seems to be working great.

well, when I'm driving, the gps will often loose location and show the messages "waiting for gps signal". Maybe every 1000 mts or so.
Its a little annoying, but its bearable, and I think that it could be fixed with a software update.

Have you posted anything about GPS issues? I'm wondering if this is a pervasive problem. I'm considering this phone, but I must have good GPS.

ic thanks
I just noticed that the GPS never actually makes a connection with satellites. If I turn off A-GPS, no GPS functionality works what so ever.
Anyone else have this issue, or know how to fix it?
I don't use A-GPS and it works for me

I assume you mean the "Enable Assisted GPS" setting. I've been ruining without it and been fine.
In fact it gets a reading so fast without this setting, I was wondering what the A-GPS sering was for. I thought it's to improve the speed of the sat lock.
Would it help with battery too?
Well then i wonder what's up with mine?
The point of aGPS (from my non-technical understanding) is it is there to speed up the acquisition of satellites via data service telling the phone where the sats should be. So depending on your view of the sky and other conditions aGPS can make a big difference in how long it takes to get a sat lock. I know it did for my WinMo phones. However whatever GPS receiver they put in the DX doesn't seem to need it nearly as much. I rarely see more than a 3 second delay just turning GPS on. As a matter of fact it locks quicker than my Tomtom.
Ironicly, rooting it resolved the issue.

Hi All,
I bought Sygic Aura because it seemed to be a good software, but i have problems with it.
With GPS Test and GPS Status it seems my phone doesnt have any gps issues since i get up to 10 satellites with good signal, but with sygic i get a lot less like 2 to 3 satellites, anyone had this problem?
Thnks
Well, if navigation works flawlessly, who cares how many satelites does it say in settings ;]
I use Sygic too and recently drove all the way from London via France to Sweden without any problems apart from a couple of GPS locks issues that are SGS' and not Sygic's.

I probably didn't explain myself good. GPS Status and GPS Test show that my device gets signal without problem, but when i use sygin instead of having for example 7 satellites i have only 2 or 3 and they appear and disapear with frequency which means that with sygic i have signal issues,i have difficult getting sats with sygic and not with other softwares.
but have you froyo o ginger?
I have Gingerbread JVA.

The JVA is one of the first release of Gingerbread...... try to update to JVH-JVO or better to 2.3.4 (JVQ-JVR).
On my Galaxy S with JVR, Sygic Aura works very good
After installing Gingerbread 2.3.5 | CyanogenMod 7 | SwiftDroid (v2.0 RC4)| Mur4ik rom, the GPS doesn't work... only some times works perfectly, and some times I need to restart the mobile several times.
Anyone has the same problem?
I tried with this solution:

but it doesn't work properly.
Any idea?

The GPS for the LG GT540 is only supported for UK and US. As I live in New Zealand, it doesn't work for me unless I use the mod.
If you do live in those regions, see if it is receiving enough signal for it to make an assumption of the location. Wi-fi or cellular data makes the location more accurate.

It works for me, I live in Indonesia. I have compare the coordinate result between GT540 gps and field gps which was Garmin GPSMap and the result is quite good. In the format of Degree-Minute-Seconds, they're only slight different in 'seconds unit'.

I'm not talking about Google Maps, after install RC4 version the GPS doesn't work well. Only some times, in other forums I read that is for the CM7 version, I tried a lot of fixes, but some programs like runtastic or Google Maps don't work properly.
I'm searching for a fast solution to fix the problem.

So does the installation of RC4 reduce the accuracy or does it fully disable your access to GPS?

After a long time (1 day) with the mobile switched on the GPS doesn't work, with any app, google maps, gps status or runtastic, I wait for the GPS fix status but the GPS system doesn't detect any satellite. Only few times works properly.
When it doesn't work I need to make a long batch to make it work, switch GPS off, run "fasterboot", run "GPS fix", switch GPS on, reboot and try it again... after this process some times works, and some times not... so I need to repeat the process until it works and it's a desperate situation.
Any idea?

Do you have data assisted location on? Go to --> Settings --> Location and security and then check if 'Use wireless networks' is only on. GPS will work with that on but will be less accurate that the use of an actual GPS connection. Also try it with both 'Use wireless networks' and 'Use GPS satellites' (if not already) and then try it with only 'Use GPS satellites' (to see if it actually determines location from satellites.
My GPS module seems to be also [email protected]#d up :/

I know what are you talking about... but the problem is when i'm running with runtastic software or walking with navigation the accuracy is horrible! I need that the GPS works properly, is one thing really necessary for my hobbies and job.
It doesn't work from the SwiftDroid with CM7. I read in other forums that the problem comes with CM7, but the fixes only works well with another brands of mobile phones. I'm thinking about to change to the [AOSP][v4.1] Android 2.3.5 or downgrade the Mur4ik version...

I'm using the latest build of Swiftdroid and the accuracy is very good. The cause of this could be the location of the GPS and/or the current configuration.

I use it sometimes of the road or while walking. I use it about once a week, but the frequency can fluctuate. I use MapDroyd. It's free on the Android Market and you can use it offline with a downloadable map.
I haven't had any real problems with the GPS and 2.3.5 although it seems to get a bit jittery occasionally (sometimes jumping up to 3 miles away from the current location) and every now and the GPS seems to shut down and restart.
I use Sygic GPS Navigation but it also happens with Google Maps as well.
Do you have or had 'Use wireless network' on. It happens to mine too. It seems like the location of which it used a data connection on is first used and then the actual location by a GPS.

I use CM7_kernel_OC_1.4. I believe it came with the latest ROM. Yes, GPS works but it takes a while. When I had Kyrillos v9.5 installed the GPS lock was faster though.
Hello! I have the same problem. But I found a strange thing.
In the past when I used Froyo, GPS found my location with several satellites in use (more then 3). But now I see that it may found my location without any satellites in use. It's seems that something is broken because it's needed minimum 3 satellites to find the location.

If GPS finds your location without any satellites the only explenation is that the phone uses internet connection to find your location. Maybe that is the case.

When your wifi is on (even if you're not connected to any network) your location can be determined to about 50m about
the networks near your location. At least in Germany. I think it's maybe through the google cars which also check the wifi networks when they took pictures for street view.

Are you in flight-mode while using GPS, connected to Wifi or to mobile networks (2G,3G)?
I use GPS mostly in flight-mode, and it still takes some minutes (5-10) to get a fix. Even with updated AGPS-data, but with no internet connection (afterwards, waiting for the fix).
Maybe you can show me your gps.conf from the /etc/ folder?
