I have discovered that I can stop the stuttering in audio when the tablet's screen is blank and an audio app is playing, by connecting the tablet to a usb charger. So if the audio is suttering while the tablet's screen is asleep, plugging in a charger to the the tablet will stop the stuttering. So it seems the problem is active when the tablet is on battery power. This only works with a usb charger not the magnet charger.
Good tip and feedback. I've also shared this with the product manager. Thanks!

How much you paid for it, cause i believe th cheapest for these is about 15£, as mentioned in another thread.
I read the charger is needed to keep the battery full, as current tv usb ports are un-powered, but new powered usb tv`s are on the way that do.
I have a crazy idea .. Does anybody know if i plug hdmi out from my phone to my onkyo amp the sound on video playback will be 5.1? Or even play music will this work on the subwoofer unlike using 3.5mm jack. Thanks

I did some testing with my newly acquired Samsung MHL adapter.
Here are some things i noticed:
Power:
You indeed need to have it plugged in, but you can use a normal computer USB cable to power it. Mind you, that the phone seems to use extra power when running with the adapter, getting more hot. Having it plugged into my PC, i noticed the power drain was high enough that the battery would actually (very) slowly discharge, if i was actively using the phone.
Resolution:
When sitting at the home screen, or any other screen excluding video playback, the picture will be a mirror of the phone. Output is 1080i but the picture is just the 800x480 picture upscaled. This means that you can't really use it to browse webpages in full resolution, and so forth. When doing movie playback, the movie will display in full resolution over hdmi.
Overhead controls will not show on the hdmi output. I've seen this mode active in the standard movie player, and in the youtube player so far. I can test any other apps if i requested. I'm guessing that when the hardware video decoder kicks in, it outputs directly to hdmi.
Unfortunately this also means that when using the gallery to display pictures/video on your TV, video recording will actually display in higher resolution then your pictures! Pictures are just displayed in standard upscaled 800x480, while video displays in full 1920x1080.
Sound:
When in mirror/upscale mode, sound is also "mirrored" to the TV, meaning you can use the phone as a music player or whatever to your stereo. I don't know if it does 5.1 when in video mode, as i only have 2.1 speakers, but i assume that it would.
I noticed one exception to this, which is the FM radio, which sadly only outputs to either headphones, or phone speaker. No option to play it over hdmi.
Let me know if there are any specific things you'd like me to test in regards to this.
Anybody had this problem? Seems to completely go away when I stick the device on it to charge, but is quite audible otherwise when plugged in.
I have tried every search term I can come up with and short of going through every post in the Q/A on the Note 3 I can't find a definitive answer on this one.
I have noticed many other devices have the same or similar problems
I am trying to use my device to play to a car radio via an Aux cable, without much luck. It has a constant humming in the background, I have tried it with a few cables and a FM Transmitter and get the same results.
No issues with headphones at all
Humming only when it is plugged into the charger, very quiet (Nearly silent) if not plugged into the charger
Tried many different combinations of cables and chargers
Is there an easy fix?
One alternative I am looking for an A2DP - FM Transmitter but it has to be USB powered as I have a 5 port charger in the car, all the ones I have seen is powered direct from the power socket. I have used A2DP direct to another car radio and it works clear as day which is why I am exploring this option, as well as the ability to skip tracks from the remote control.
I use my Sony Bluetooth handsfree for that. It works like a dream. The only issue is charging: older models can't connect to phone while charging. You should check this before you buy your BT handsfree.

Do you hear that humming when phone is plugged to charger, but engine is not running?
Does the humming change voice or get louder with higher RPM? This is pretty normal on cars that phones keep noise when playing music through AUX while charging.
So most probably your car alternator causes this. One possible way _might_ be to ground your cigarette lighter 12V(?) output from car straight to battery or/and put something between + cable that gives 12.0V to your phone charger, no more no less, since every car I have had the voltage on cigarette lighter depends on RPM. While engine off it gives what battery has (~12V) and when engine running on high RPM ~14.5V
One more way would be grounding your phone to your car, but that might be a bit hard, and I don't know would it do something bad to phone either lol
Hope this helps.
I remember a similar issue occurring a long time ago. Had to do with the screen brightness being turned down.
Does the problem also occur if you set the brightness to 100%?

My Samsung Note 4 has fairly loud "static" that sounds like it's picking up the internal electronic noise (also slight engine whine when the engine is running) coming through the headphone line when plugged into USB power in my car.
This only occurs when there is no audio playing. As soon as any audio plays, the static/whine goes away 100%.
I would normally first troubleshoot other things besides the Note 4, however, I've used various other mobile devices in my car and they all have had zero noise.
This is using the AUX input in a 2007 Honda Civic via the headphone jack and powering it via a 12v cigarette adapter to 2A USB plug.
Anyone else experience this? It just seems very strange that it only happens when there is no audio playing and the fact that no other devices I've tried have this issue. (Various IOS devices and a Nexus 7 don't exhibit this problem)
Thanks for any suggestions!
Update: Swapped USB power adapters, USB cables of various brands including the OEM samsung cable and various audio cables with no change.
I've found that the noise is there with just the power hooked up. (engine off) The "static" changes as I use the device, so it appears it's picking up the internal electronics "noise".
It just really makes me thing it's not a hardware issue if the "noise/static" goes away as soon as any audio plays. Then a second or so after the audio stops, the static kicks in again. Not certain if I should exchange the device.
Update 2: After more googling, I see that others have had this same problem and as silly as it sounds, someone made an "Aux Noise Filter" application. I tried it and it did cut maybe 95% of the noise.
The app shows a date of Aug. 2013. Just seems silly that the problem has been going on this long??
Hi, recently my Nexus refused to charge. I mean it was said it's charging, but percent was always the same (even when turned off). It turned out that it was an issue with usb charging port. So I've bought a new charging port, which is also merged with headphone jack port. Anyway after replacing old charging port nexus charges fine. However later I've been watching youtube video on it with sound on speaker. Every small move disables sound. It looks like it's getting "inserted headphones" event all the time. How can I fix this except buying next charging port? I've found two apps which can toggle between speaker and headphones, but problem is it's changing all the time so I probably need something with endlessly forces my nexus to stay on speaker. I don't use headphones anyway. And my device is rooted which may somehow help.
Regards
Anyone help?
I'm not sure, but maybe it's a issue with flat cable. Some time ago, I didn't put the flat cable well in my board and in headphone I hear only the left speaker
