The battery drain is CRAZY, what to do? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Just 1 hour of screen on time with a little bit of Twitter, 62%.
What to do? The battery drain is just CRAZY.
The device is disconnected since 6:30, now it's around 12:15.

There is other stuff that drains battery excluded from that list. Facebook-things is one of those and it drains heavy battery. If you can live without this "social spyware" - disable the app!

Hey, I'm not using Facebook apps (except WhatsApp).
Everything of Facebook is disabled.

I would say your 4g reception is bad causing the phone to use more power to get you better signal.

I don't think so, the battery drain started before just one week.

The latest marshmallow update has screwed around with my s7 edge too, heavy drain etc. I reverted back to the previous build (download the correct one from SamMobile and flash it) and battery was back to normal.
Before doing that, try cache wipe from stock recovery. This cna help in some cases.
Now I've flashed the nougat beta and battery life is great again.

The problem is your router
Can you see if access in deep sleep?
Test with CPU Spy

If it was this bad for me I would just factory reset it dude and wipe the cache.

Battery drain problems with my Verizon galaxy s7 edge

So I recently bought an s7 edge from Verizon and it has horrible battery life compared to other people with the same phone. I went to Verizon with this issue and all they did was give me another phone in exchange for the previous one but that did not help. Sometimes the battery drops 12 percent on standby overnight. I have found a few apps which have been draining my battery but I unfortunately cannot disable them: gear vr service, help, and knox use over 12 percent of battery each. I wish I could root the phone but no roots are out for the snapdragon version. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Can't you just use disabler pro to disable those apps
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Im really amazed how people just go to lets say phone provider and say that they dont like the phone and they get a new one . In Poland I think this kind of thing just wouldnt work. Especially that at the moment this phone is sold out and i was luck to get mine so fast.

I don't think using location is what is causing my battery drain because like I stated before my friend also has the same phone but on a different carrier and even with heavy usage his phone battery life is amazing. But I will see which apps do use location a lot.

Yah I saw it before
Do you have AOD on at night? That will burn through some battery.
Those three apps are interesting. How did you determine they're using a lot of battery?
When I look at them in the application manager each one says it's used 17% of battery since the phone was fully charged (24 hours ago). But that can't be accurate. Added together, they'd use more than 50% of my battery capacity, but they don't show up as individual apps in my battery stats, and the largest user (Android System) only used 30%.
Can you post some screen captures of the battery usage screen showing the apps using data? You might also try force charging to 100%, then force closing those apps, and see if there's any impact on battery life. If not, then it might be worth trying Package Disabler Pro. But most Edge owners seem to be getting good battery life, so I don't think that should be necessary.
I am getting the same drain (S7 edge verizon). It only drains my battery at my dorm wifi and when I go home it's fine. I don't think it's a Samsung issue since my LG G3 with a 6500mah battery can't even last two days on standby.

Nougat battery drain

Hi,
Am I th only one that is getting this ridiculous battery life. I am barely going over 2 hours of SOT and maybe 8 hours of battery with light/medium use. Clearly something is off. I did FDR and wiped cache.
Any ideas?

I do use facebook from time to time. I can't post yet unfortunately. Hopefully you can view the image I left a link for underneath my original message.
I use snapchat and facebook disabled. A bit drainy though even after f reset.
No issues here. Seems the same as MM to me. Maybe just a little more than normal. It was bad at first but began settling after a few days.

Few suggestions,
Firstly I did was install battery stats app and check if you can find whats eating batery
If that doesnt help I would say flash firmware with odin including data(Backup before this). After that do an Full Reset and then try.
Since This is complete OS upgrade it will help clean lots of things. I am getting 5-6hrs SOT. All the best

I had terrible battery life initially as well. So I did a factory reset and...battery life still sucked. I think that was because I allowed Samsung and Google to restore my apps and previous app data. So, I did another factory reset and a completely clean installation of all my apps (no Samsung or Google-assisted restoring of apps). Since then, battery has been back to normal, which for me is about 4 hours of SOT.

Same here. I did a clean app install also and that helped. The only thing I allowed to be restored was my gmail calendar and contacts.
Yeah my upgrade made my phone glitchy and half the battery life I used to get. But on the plus side my phone doesn't run as hot and lock up when downloading large torrents.

Horrible battery drain on s7 edge nougat. Attached battery status from BetterBatteryS

Hi guys, really need some help on this.
After upgrading to nougat on my Su edge intl ver (exynos) SM-G935FD.
The battery has been horrible. From what I see in BBS it's always awake and running on max CPU state. Attached the ss... Please help me.
I've tried the following:
Clear cache using recovery mode
Cleared permissions
Disable Google play services (causing many other Google apps to fail so I enabled it)
Turning off wifi and location
Using data saver
Using battery optimisation
Using greenify
Tried the above methods solo, or a combination, all which failed to help.
From what I see Samsung pay is causing the problem. How do I solve this? It's an integral part of my life (really convenient). Thanks all in advance!

Try to disable some apps or if your phone is rooted delete them. Clear apps permission or references or wipe factory reset through recovert.

I have tried disabling apps like Facebook, messenger, Instagram, etc but no avail. Permissions method also tried. Reset all settings tried too.
I'm only left with factory data reset which I'm unwilling becaue Samsung cloud doesn't seem to be working properly.
I have the same problem too. I noticed that after the Nougat update my phone started to live twice shorter after recharging (1 day instead of 2). Couple of days ago I installed AccuBattery app which shows me that my phone lost almost 25% of its battery capacity :/ Don't know what to do. I am curious if I can ask for a battery replacement from Samsung service (warranty) or not.

I tried reset settings and so far BBS doesn't show samsung pay alarm wakelocks anymore. I'm gonna monitor for a while. and see how it goes because I still feel that the battery life is pretty bad...
Well I haven't tried any of the battery monitoring apps, but after the Nougat update my S7E shows me 15 hours and 5 minutes remaining right after unplugging from a wall charger.
well batterys have a capacity, there are number of charge cycle after which the battery doesnt stay healthy and the backup gets short..... After nougat upadate I have noticed battery drains but not that aggressive like yours.. You can factory reset you phone once and chk if samsung pay is still sucking battery...

Try this. Charge your phone after disabling fast charge. I.e charge it in normal mode.

It is possible, but might interfere with the rom's cache data and i don't think it will perform better because of that. So a factory reset is usually needed when reverting.

Stock OnePlus 5 Android Pie Fast Battery Drain

Hey!
I got my stock OP5 updated into Android Pie last January 26, 2019. After receiving the update and updating it, I seem to notice that the battery drains faster. Anyone experiencing similar?
I honestly haven't but I ended up doing a full wipe attempting to fix a problem that was actually hardware related. Have you tried clearing all cache in recovery?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
No, not yet. Also, I can't do it right now since I have lot of files and important apps. I will let you know if I do it.
Here is an update on my battery status.
When you get the chance, I suggest you do a backup and do a full wipe. Stuff like this is rather common when you do a upgrade of the OS and this is why everyone here recommend a clean install when it comes to major updates.

Clearing just the cache (not data) won't lose any of your files. I don't think you lose anything really if I remember right. It may not fix the problem but it can't hurt to try. It should probably be done every now and then anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Haven't really tried your suggestions yet since I am really busy these days.
Here is an update. My status is improving.
What happened was my battery was totally drained, 0 and off.l, when I woke up. Then, I charged it to 100 then turned it on. After that, my battery became tolerable.
Hi
Can I suggest you to download the naptime app from PlayStore (by Francisco franco?). It's just about to open the app ,activate it ,go down and choose which apps you won't put on sleep like Gmail/ WhatsApp/ messenger or whatever you need always up. All the other processes will be putted to sleep. Francisco Franco is the king of this things . Don't need to be rooted. You can have a Go. Today after use it a lot,I still 33% left. Hope it's help as the op5 is still a so great phone but for business they need to put it down.

Does it worth rooting to improve battery life?

Hi, I have Samsung SM-G935F Dual sim phone (bought used) and today I replaced it's battery thinking there was an issue with the batter as it was draining like 1% after 3 minutes with SOT but with the replaced battery I have the same effect. Searching through the internet I came to know that this phone has awesome battery backup but I wasn't able to witness it myself so far. The cell is pretty good with screen off but with screen on the battery drains fast. Under heavy usage it lasts for 6-7 hours max. Youtube, Whatsapp, Facebook.
So should I install a custom rom? I don't think so as many people have said this phone's battery time is impressive.
Any feedback would be appreciated. P.s. I'm' on latest Oreo 8.0.0 and I can't get to the battery usage screen either no any other application helps. Thanks in advance. I wasted 7$ on battery already.

S7 Edge has a good battery backup. If you are running stock ROM then your phone should be filled up with bloatware as well. You can give a try by rooting and installing a custom ROM. Even after custom ROM, if your battery drains as before then it could be an hardware issue.
