nope, come back in a little time though if you're feeling lucky
Has anybody tried method described in:http://www.androidinfotech.com/2016/12/root-lg-v20-h990ds-nougat-twrp.html
That won't because one of the initial steps suggests that you follow the official bootloader unlocking procedure by submitting your device ID on the LG website to receiver a bin file which you would use to unlock your bootloer. The problem is, LG does not offer bootloader unlocking for the 990DS at this time and likely never will, so the procedure would fail right there and you wouldn't be able to move on to the steps that follow..

Hello,
as the startpost(and the linked official statement by LG) says - right now officially no.
If the devs find a way - to unlock the bootloader unofficially - nobody knows right now. But it seems not so easy...
But you can root your device and use flashfire to flash mods etc. for now.
Greetings

Confirm my UK EE Device was unable to be unlocked before.
I have just unlocked it finally.
LG H815 o2 Germany working. So the race for custom roms is opened up now on all H815 European devices, branded or not.
I see only a faq but where can download?

Still no love for the H815 USA.
Still no love Sprint either?
The only thing holding me back from doing this is this warning on the LG Dev Website -
Some content on your device may no longer be accessible or playable due to invalid DRM keys.

Has anyone who has unlocked noticed any media etc not working? Netflix, Play Movies, Deezer, other forms of Streaming media etc?
I've only ever unlocked HTC's & Nexus' before and they have no such caveats. I'm led to believe Netflix and HD videos on Youtube don't work after you unlock a Sony device, is that the case here? (Can't find a conclusive yay or nay either way).
I've unlocked and I haven't come across any app that won't function due to DRM. As expected a few apps have issues with root i.e. halifax and nowtv. All of the apps you listed function perfectly after unlocking. Unlock any bootloader and you could have issues with DRM, it's not specific to LG. That being said it's a one way process so no relocking.

Anyway it's a superb news because I missed TWRP. I hope Marcosuper7 and the other devs will do a flashable zip of their roms

This software doesn't work without the box itself to actually do the stuff, so yeah. With the software but without the hardware, it's quite redundant.

update is.. nothing changed.. things still moving fwd. we havent gone anywhere.
someone else could swoop in with something first.. or maybe the first OTA fixes the unlock for tmo and we release nothing. who knows.
playing it by ear and not rushing anything.

Ok then can you just make the TOT for us and keep the method secret? If this is possible it would at least help the community out of this mess T-Mobile has put us in. If you're able to make a TOT with root we'd all really appreciate it.

I keep seeing post all over the internet saying the same thing. Enable Developer Mode (clicking about multiple times, as always) then fastboot reboot bootloader, then install TWRP and then SuperSU from that.
Is this real or nonsense that is just being spread like wildfire?
I have two LG-G6 I just bought, but dont want to risk a fake root which make hinder getting a true Root later on, nor a more complete root becoming available after installing 400 apps.
If its not on XDA its fake and not to be trusted. Good rule of thumb. Also there is no way of recovering a bricked device this early.
I couldn't agree more with @bamfsig45 there's fake news ESPECIALLY when it comes to phones everywhere. Wait for something to come off XDA.
Yeah, I figured that too. It's just seeing it so much and people swearing by it had me a bit curious. I'll definitely be waiting to see it here first before actually implementing the root though.
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/lg-g6-root-twrp-recovery/ this is the site to look for when the phone launches tomorrow just as good as XDA

I can't vouch for this one on the G6, but kingroot also said this bs with the g5 when it wasn't rooted yet either. They don't have much credibility imo
Kingo root did not work, Kingroot did not work, and a couple of others. I used an AT&T G6.
Greg
From what I have read, they are polishing it up and making it work for the general public for the T-Mobile model only. The T-Mobile model allows boot-loader unlock, out of the box.
KingRoot 3.5 doesn't work for me
Kingroot has zero credibility.

LG G6 H870 European model had indeed got root via SuperSU 2.82 and TWRP (unofficially and slightly buggey).

Yes, as long as your bootloader can be unlocked.
Even with out the bootloader being unlocked you can still root.

No, it cannot. That's if u run the tool and then unlock the BL. U cannot have a locked bootloader with root..doesn't work. Read that thread, it explains.

There are no root methods that don't include an unlocked bootloader.
Since the bootloader can be unlocked, there is no research in rooting and leaving the bootloader untouched.
But he just asked for root he never specifically asked to root without unlocking bootloader..
And I noticed now I only linked one of the two steps to root.. I should've also linked to this for after you turn it to the intl version ;; root tool
Thank you both very much for your time and information I really appreciate both of your guys this time and help. Take care!!!

First you have to get your son unlocked and then active the oem unlock in the Dev section in your devices settings and then in 7 days you receive a token from T-Mobile allowing you to unlock your bootloader for you can now root your device right? So if I buy a new oneplus 6T out rightcan I have my device sum unlocked right then or do I need to still wait 40 days and then active the oem in the settings and then get the token in 7 days and then unlock my bootloader? Will you please let me know if I got some seizure right and if I have it wrong for you please explain the correct way I would greatly appreciate it thanks in advance take care

If the device is paid in full at the time of purchase, I don't think they lock your sim. But I would ask them to check right then and there to make sure it is unlocked.
I bought an oneplus 6t from tmobile on monthly payments , 1.5 hours later bootloader and Sim unlocked. No tokens or anything. Follow guides to flash international rom. Then guides to unlock Sim and bootloader.

No. I followed the guides.
First guide is flash to international.
Then the Sim/bootloader/root guides.
Yes there is that way also, but a little more involved. If you follow the guides it should be easy, but just ask questions if there is something you don't understand.
