S7 Edge battery not loading full - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hey Guys,
I recently changed 2 cracked digitizers of samsung s7 edge with original samsung digitizers.
After 2 weeks, battery problems started to occur to both phones.
They loaded to +-90% first then another week later +-80%.
I already changed the battery's of both but the problem re-occurs after 2 weeks.
Any idea?

I have the exact same problem. After i changed the display on s7 edge battery can charge only to 80% sometimes to 90%. I already tested three batteries but with same result. I dont know if it´s a software or hardware issue because before i changed the display I upgraded android to 6.0.1

I was thinking about using a third party battery to check, have you already tried this as well?

No. I only tested original batteries... But sometimes when charging is stuck and I remove battery and put it back again it shows 100%. When I discharge it and try to charge it back its stuck again...

Jup, 100% the same problem.
Are you using the original battery that came with the phone or did you replace the battery when changing screen as well?
I'll order a third party battery to check, ill let you know

First battery was original from phone and other two batteries was from internet shops. They look identical like original but I´m not sure if they really are.

Batteries shorting out on Hermes

I've had my Hermes now for 7 months, and I'm on my third battery. The OEM lasted about 6 months, the extended battery lasted 3 months.
There's no warning...just shuts off and will not turn back on...ever with those batteries. Replace the battery, and it works fine.
Anyone else have this happen? I also have a Wizard for that's a couple of years old and it's still on the original battery.

Need more detail. I assume you charged it occasionally
Did you find the battery drained excessively quickly - say in just a couple of hours?
Have you ever hard reset the phone?
What happened with these batteries when you tried re-charging them?
Did you get the constant red LED when charging?
Mike
I have the same problem, it takes about 5 h to drain the batteri:-(
I start up the phone and leave it on the desk without doing anything.... and after 5 h the batteri is dead.
I have installed the latest rom, tried without the sim-card, everything!
The problem started from one day to the other.

I usually throw it on the charger every night.
Did you find the battery drained excessively quickly - say in just a couple of hours? No, the batteries behaved fine, with streaming and programs being used like word and PIE, it will last all day.
Have you ever hard reset the phone?
I've hard-reset a few times...currently running BlackIV and 1.41. The first battery died using Black 2.5 and then 3.0. BTW- love the BlackIV.
What happened with these batteries when you tried re-charging them?
Red light on the phone, and they get HOT!
Did you get the constant red LED when charging? With the dead batteries yes, with a new battery, no.

I now have ordered a couple of extra batteries just to have around. I don't want to have to wait a week for a battery.

Well that's a puzzler alright. I can understand 1 maybe even two batteries ending up faulty but more than that! Now if you were just getting the red LED then we might have considered a not infrequent problem folks report here on that situation (usually caused by the battery draining to a very low level and refusing to start charging again). BUT you said your battery despite the not charging, red LED, gets hot and that I have not seen reported.
To be honest I think you may have a hardware fault (possibly intermittent that is damaging the battery. Likely sources of the fault would be the battery connections (poor contacts at battery or at m/board) or in the battery charging controller circuit. Just possible that it might be at the USB socket. Non of these apart from a routine check of the battery contacts are easy to check, which of course is a real pain if you are out of warranty.
Mike
Just a thought - but do you have access or could you aquire a desktop cradle with a slot for charging a spare battery? (Available for about £10ukp on ebay and other various places)
If you're out of warranty (or even in warranty), firstly this would give you a chance to keep your batteries charged without charging in your Hermes itself (and hopefully eliminate a hardware fault). Also, some of your knackered batteries may be "recovered" by charging them in an external charging cradle.
I had a red-light charging problem with ONE battery myself which was cured by charging the battery overnight in a cradle rather than in the device itself.
...might be worth a try?
My battery function is a little strange too, though I haven't had my 8525 long enough to have killed the battery.
I charge it on a USB cable. It charges very quickly, and when it is charged I unplug it. After this, the battery drains VERY fast and the device gets hot. It is NOT hot while charging. If the device goes into sleep mode after this, it won't wake up w/o a soft reset.
I've found that doing a soft reset right after charging fixes this behavior. It's almost like my 8525 does not realize it has been unplugged from the USB cable, and it overstresses the battery by trying to draw too much power from it.
Usually my battery will last three to four days even with heavy use, provided I soft-reset it when I'm done charging it. If I don't, it will last just a few hours -- though I typically end up having to soft reset it anyway because as I said if it goes into sleep mode after charging it, it won't come out of it w/o doing the soft reset.
It might be a good general rule to perform a soft reset after charging this thing. It's worked for me, anyway.
I also developed the dreaded white screen problem too. After talking with At&T Business Customer Service, they overnighted a new phone.
Just speculation...I think it was some type of hardware failure that caused the batteries to run hot and fail. I feel this also contributed to white screen from excessive heat.
New phone ran fine all weekend. Charging did not generate heat, and had no white screen of death.
Side note...WM5 is horrible compared to the latest WM6 upgrades found here. I couldn't wait to get this phone re-flashed!
Yeah ... it sounds like it is definitely necessary to soft-reset after charging.

Nexus 4 won’t boot up/work without charger plugged in

My phone is shutting down automatically after showing “google” logo. I went back to stock lollipop 5.0.1 but the problem still persist. It’s working fine with the charger plugged in. If I remove the charger after switching on, if I kept it idle, it will stay on till the battery is empty. But if I try to do something it will shutdown. In recovery mode it works well without the charger.
Please help me is anyone facing the same issue.
may be you should try flashing a new kernel
i tried stock Google images still no use.
Is there any noticeable bulge to the battery? It might be a battery issue.
This is almost certainly a battery issue.

I don't think its a battery issue, because if i keep my device idle it'll last 1 day.
It only crashes if i use the phone, even swiping home screens crashes the phone.
Well, you've already gone back to pure stock which rules out a software issue, and so the next thing I thought would be a battery issue. I have read here about defective batteries causing all sorts of problems like losing signal, non responsive touchscreens and bootloops, and so it's a possibility that this is a battery problem.
I got strange problem with my n4..
Battery % randomly change and shut down, unsensible touchscreen, battery icon disappear from menu..
Maybe this hw problem could touch the SW part
that's how my problem started

My nexus 4 cant't turn on without charger plugged in. But when I go to Recovery, it work fine. A few days ago, it's sometime shutdown suddently when I was playing game. Then it worked fine after I plugged charger in and turn it on. Is this battery issue?
So even when the device is fully charged it won't boot into Android?

[Help] Moto X Play won't show it is charging but the battery is working properly.

So, 2 days ago I was charging my device (XT - 1562 Indian Version 16GB) and when I saw the phone after 2 hours the battery was still at 15%... so I got into the battery options to check if the battery was charging and it was showing "Not charging"(SS attached) so I rebooted my phone and it was still showing not charging, I also did a factory reset and still the problem was not solved so I booted into the fastboot mode and there it was showing that the battery is charging. I was confused so I thought that there may be a firmware problem(6.0), so I downloaded factory images of 6.0.1 and flashed them(the BL was locked) and still the problem was there then I unlocked the BL and flashed 5.1.1 and problem still persists. Guys pls help me. :crying:
Also please tell me how can I flash 6.0.1 again via Fastboot mode. I am still at stock 5.1.1
Edit : Update : Now I have installed a custom ROM (CM 13.1 by Temasek) and now the phone is charging like it should but it charges till 82~85% and then stops charging. Cant give the phone to the service center because I unlocked the BL.

Thanks for the reply bro. I have updated the thread so can you tell me what is the problem.
are you using the original charger and cable ?? charge the Device when it's off then turn onforum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782420
I'm having this exact same problem on my xt1575. I bought it from a nice dude on Swappa, but he seemed pretty green concerning phones in general. He rooted/unlocked it, then appears that he kept the stock ROM while flashing the franken kernel. I didn't notice this for the first day or two as I opened it and poked around for some signs of something loose/water damage: nothing.
I couldn't sleep last night, so all morning I've been doing what I can to play around with clearing caches, flashing different ROMs, and anything else I can find in the software side, but aside from somehow getting it to get past the previous cap of 4% to a whopping 25% before slamming down to 11% (percentages waver constantly), I'm stuck and desperate to figure it out. I've even tried the stock turbo charger, the stock charger for an old Moto X 2014, and as of writing this just now a Samsung quick charger for the giggles.
I have parts for all kinds of Moto X 2014/Nexus 6 lying around, so I took the risk of connecting a Moto X 2014 battery up to see how it behaved. It read the battery level around mid-seventies and didn't seem to drop at any exaggerated rate but still kind of bounced around a tad. It would charge at times, but otherwise still wouldn't show the battery as being charged. I didn't think too much of it because the 2014 is of course a different model at a much smaller capacity, so I didn't want to try leaving it on the charger for fear of overcharging. The only thing left that I haven't done is hook up the Play battery to another motorola because I don't have any screens to monitor progress and see how consistently it reads to determine if it's the battery that's somehow gone wonky.
So in summation/where I'm at right now: I'm having this same problem; I've tried both hardware and software tinkering to no avail; I feel this is still somehow kernel/software related, but I'm not sure how to completely obliterate everything to start from stock. Please forgive how scatterbrained I am right now, I'm tired yet wide awake and irritated with the whole situation; there's NOTHING I can find in the forums or elsewhere outside of stock replies like "are you using the original charger?"

I have tried after battery fully drain, still it's not charging again I am charging mobile in factory mode. Is there any solution please help me. In factory mode i am not getting signal.
So no change in behavior. I did notice that when in TWRP that the CPU Temp value is crazy, and any reporting software says the battery is at -23.8° C and always cold, even on a brand new replacement battery (obviously send like that is what's keeping it from charging). I even went as far as to put a heat gun on it from a distance to artificially actuate any sensors and got nothing. The one time it did report normal temps it charged fine for a whole day but hasn't returned to normal since. This **** is maddening...
I know this is a long shot, but have you tried resetting the battery stats?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699687
I had this problem but yesterday I can solve that
First I put stock firmware
Wait for fully discharge
And wait full shutdown
I put an moto g 2013 charger (550mA 5V)and led stay on around 5 min but not charge
After put Nokia n86 charger (1A 3.5V)5 min and not charge
After i put an orginal moto turbo charger
And start to charge wait for 9%
Turn on the phone
Clear battery stats with battery calibration app
Wait for full discharge
Wait for full turn off
I put a Nokia n86 charger wait 5 minutes vibrates and start to charge like the beginning
Any other suggestions or solutions? Still my phone only charges in recovery mode. I have a aukey fast charger. Tried different kernels and roms without success.
The solution with the nokia chargers seems really strange and i dont have that type of charger.
Regards
Someone fixed this? I have the same problem and can't solve it. I have cm 13 by temasek and the first time the x play charged up to 83% but after a full discharge and a clean of battery stats, I olny could charge it via factory mode, like in stock 6.0.1
I dont know why but after i opened the phone and disassembled the battery it worked after putting it back together. Disconnected the cable to mainboard as well as nfc antenna. Then carefully pried the battery out. Its slightly glued to the mb. Then I held power button down for a few sec as read in a different forum. Afterwards I connected power cable back but left the battery next to the phone. Booted the phone and charging worked. Than I reassembled the phone Ehen I was sure everything worked. I was about to change the battery but now it works. I flashed different Roms and kernels without any improvment before. After I got it working I flashed a nandroid backup of a resurection Rom image that didnt worked before. Now its running perfect.

So, may the problem be in the pins when the battery is plugged into the mb? I'll try that! thanks!
Still having this issue, the solution with the chargers didn't work for me, neither the battery solution, suggestions?

Same issue
My Moto X Play has the same issue. It will only charge in Factory Mode. I had this issue before at 10-11 months old and had it 'fixed' under warranty, now 2-3 months later the same issue has occurred. Of course the warranty is only 1 year...
Glad I am not alone in this issue but i wish there was an easy fix! Putting me off getting another Moto...
Same problem occurred with me( Moto X Play).
My phone was not charging, it was stuck in some percentage and was not increasing or neither decreasing while plugged in to charger. But when i put it into recovery mode, it charges. But that was not the solution to the problem.
So, i have tried factory reset.
but problem was not solved.
i googled for the solution, but couldn't find the right solution. And i was stressed (I have a girlfriend, and living in very distance relationship, for me a smartphone is very important).
And was thinking of buying a new phone but not the Motorola, but couldn't afford at the time.
At the same time, i thought of repairing it by myself, by fixing the battery properly.
Without thinking about voiding the warranty and Motorola support, i unbolt every screw of the phone. and finally , finally, finally i made it by removing the battery and fixing it again(charger was plugged while removing the battery and fixing, and phone switched off while removing).
And now my phone is charging properly.
Hope I have helped every person concern to this same problem.
Thank you

Note 4 annoying battery issues!

I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910T) last week on Ebay. It is a refurbished one sold by a seller named Cellfeee. On the first day it came with 0 percent. So I charged it with the generic non-fast charging charger it came with and it worked good until it suddenly turned off on 5 percent and I couldn't turn it on until I put the charger on. The next day I used another charger with a fast charger (not sure if the charger was broken) and it took 7 hours all night to charge but it strangely last for 10 hours and shut off at 20 percent. Is this a common issue? Should I send it back or order a replacement battery?

I have the same issue my phone n910t shutdowns at 20% and sometimes at 15% and phone won't turn on.but i can enter download mode and it remains on for hours
but when i plug in fast charger back it shows same 15% then why the hell it won't turn on ?
I think its nothing wrong with my phone not refurbished never rooted it definitely could be bad battery..
I have the same problem with my 2 year old Note 4 - bought a new battery but that didn't fix it. Phone usually shuts off at around 15-20% battery. However, when I connect the charger it shows 0%.
So, either there's another hardware fault which is misreading the battery level, or there's a problem with latest Android or Samsung app which is causing it.

Dial*#0228# and press quick start at bottom of the screen and hit yes.
This will clear old battery calibration status.
Then turn off the phone and charge to 100% and reboot
And your new calibration status will create automatically.

Hey trex.. i have the same problem phone shuts down at 15 to 10% but when it shuts down it goes to bootloop whenever you power on the phone it goes again to bootloop but once you connect the phone to the charger it boots just fine! I never face any bootloop issue. after i recalibrate bettery status its perfectly fine.but still sometimes when phone heats up a lot while gaming and it shutdown at 5 or 8%.
Maybe you flash a clean stock firmware and make factory reset after flash should fix this bootloop issue.

Thanks for your reply, it isn't bootloop as i described but it fails to boot if the phone is not charged enough( it should be over 5 percent) it will go to Samsung logo the restarts again unless i connect the phone to the charger.. very strange behavior! This started to happen after November security update.. i was thinking to factory reset but i have too many apps and without TB i will suffer backing up all these data 😣.. if factory reset did not help i will send it back to Samsung service center and let them suffer 😈.. thanks for your help trex really appreciated.. cheers

It might be a software issue. The battery still lasts pretty long even though 20% is like 0%. So buying a new battery didn't help. Did you try a non-oem battery? if so, did it do the same?

It might be because your battery can't supply enough power. I had the same problem and brought it to Samsung, they said I only need to change the battery. And since I had another backup one, it was fine and decided to buy 2 more batteries just in case. No more problem so far.

Battery issues

My phone's battery level is stuck at 35% and doesn't change on charging it over and over again. Left the phone charging last night and it was still charging at 35% in the morning. However if there's a drop below 35% level it shows on the screen but again charging the phone drains complete battery within a minute or two. The phone gets switched off and starts charging from 0. On switching it on sometimes it again starts draining the battery fast or stuck at some another battery level. Please help what should i do.
I tried reflashing rr rom freshly but it didn't solve the issue. Twrp recovery shows the same battery %.
Screen recorded as below.

Charger or phone faulty, either requires exchange under warranty, take it you are using cable and charger supplied with phone.
Do a factory reset just in case something has screwed up the OS, trying to charge with the phone switched off usually will confirm whether hardware or software problem, ie will not charge when off says its hardware.

I left the phone on charge last night in switch off mode but the battery level shows only 10% in the morning. Internally however it's charged 100% but the level is not showing correctly. Also since I've unlocked the bootloader, the device isn't under warranty.
what a weird battery behaviour!!
Whenever I start charging my phone using stock charger, it drains the battery within minutes instead of charging. Once the battery is completely drained out the battery starts charging from 0% and after a full night of being plugged into the charger it shows partially charged at different level when it's switched on even though it's full.
Is there no way to troubleshoot this or the right way to calibrate the battery?

Contact Moto Service Center hope they will sort out.... Best of luck
Although I think it's a coin toss if it will help, try another charger and a factory reset... Moto service will want you to do a factory reset before sending it in anyway.

Almost the same with different battery percentage.
My G5 plus is under amazon warranty so I'm fine but I would like to know if there is a way to solve by myself and would like to know what the hell happend.
Have you solved this battery issue?
Thank you.

Not yet, only solution is getting the battery replaced. Now I've learnt to live with it, since the mobile needs to be restarted after every charge and the % gets stuck at some random value despite being fully charged.

I'll ask for replacement after Christmas holidays. Thank you very much.
I do also have the same problem. It just started a few days ago and sometimes I'd restart the phone and it will fix it and show the actual percentage been charged. But now that isn't fixing it anymore. However, as mentioned before the battery is actually being charged. So let's say it's stuck in 11% and I charge it for a few hours. Then I can use the phone for hours without going below 11%.. but how annoying when it gets there and all of a sudden you are running out of battery ?
Charging with original charger/cable. Do you guys think it might have to do with the turbopower feature?
Has anyone found a solution to this? I'm still under warranty for two more months. But it's always a pain to deal with warranty, you know no phone for a week or more... It would be nice if it can be fixed without going through warranty.
