[ GPS loose signal when using. ]
Device:
Redmi 3s 3GB RAM- MIUI 8 Global 6.11.17 Beta Android 6.0.1
It can lock fast and accurate, but, when used on car, navigating, gps keeps losing signal.
After that, only closing everything or even rebooting, allows to get a new GPS location, that will disconnect again after 2 to 5 minutes. repeat
[ What has been tried ]
Pretty much everything that can be found on internet:
- application permissions
- energy allowing background operation
- low memory managament + check off miui otimization
- multiples gps.conf files tried, including application fixes like Faster Fix and others.
- Lock applications GPS Locker
- gps.conf files permissions under root granted
- flashed roms: miui8 global official DEV / miui 8 global official STABLE, unnoficial miui 8, etc.
- rooted and unroot methods tried
[TIP] If you test GPS with GPS Test, it goes well, the problem is maintain signal active and tracking.
The problem still. Loses signal. When moving in a car with some speed.
I've been using it for navigation while walking and didn't have that problem

Have u tried with more speed? Walking seens to work here too. But with bicycle or car, not.
- UPDATE 22/11
GPS is fully working now!
I think i found the bug, you need to force mobile connection to "2g only".
The problem is with 3G or LTE data. On switch to "3G or LTE", it looses Gps signal in about 10 seconds. Sometimes needed to reboot to work again.
- Current on ROM: xiaomi.eu V8.1.2.0.MALCNDI_v8-6.0
- stock gps.conf
- didn't need to make any change on battery saver, allowing background, permissioons or such things. Just forcing 2g did the trick
- Tested on Gps Status/Google Maps
meee too
I've tried the GPS and while walking is OK, driving is completely useless.
I'm with MALMIDI Global stable 8.1.1.0
I'm going to try with the 2G trick and see if it helps.
Have you filled a bug/fix request in Miui forum?

I've tried the 2G trick. Didn't work

Since updating to latest lollipop release , BOE3, I've been having weird issues with my wifi and 3G signal.. I can connect to my home network but have no internet every other device including my S III connects and has active internet connection.. chrome gives the error ' can't connect to the internet.. DNS error or something like that'.. since then I've been relying on 3G, I leave my Mobile data on most of the time but if i leave the phone locked for like 10 minutes and unlock and try to use the internet, I don't have internet connection despite showing H+ in status bar with active arrows. I'm running WanamLite, debloated, running xposed with no problems except this

Try to forget the connection, change the DNS, clear cache, flash another kernel or in the worst situation make a factory reset.

I forgot to mention I already did all of these troubleshooting.. the same.. i clean flashed WanamLite Rom cause it has large APN list after a full wipe with no luck. Same issue since BOE1 maybe.

Modem? Hardware problem?

Actually turned out some of my neighbors suffer from the same issue.. probably something to do with carriers upgrading their hardware in the city i live in..
I buy my OnePlus 2 just few days ago, and i notice i have issue using GPS service with this phone.
The phone unable to acquire stable GPS signal while using mobile data (WCDMA/LTE), as soon i disable the network data the GPS signal lock and fix very stable.
and turn back on the GPS lock will gone.
is this hardware issue or just software bug.
I am running OxygenOS 2.1.0 have issue, after update to 2.1.1 the issue still there.
I have a video attach to demo and how to reproduce the problem.

Did you try any gps test app to see if it's working when mobile data is connected?

I guess it might be a software issue. Try a factory reset and see if helps fix things. Else, service center might be able to help you.
All the best :good:

It's strange.
I guess you need to talk to service center.
My OP2 is losing GPS position as well, haven't been able to relate it band change. To have the position back I have to do off/on Location in the top pull down pane. Driving me nuts.

Same issue here, also with OOS 2.2.0. Any update on that? Really annoying when navigating in unknown areas and GPS stops working...
Guys, after months of test, it's related to Telco, depend which radio band they use at specific area.
try test other telco with prepaid sim, see if your GPS still disrupted while mobile data transfer.
The only GPS issue related I have with mine
Is playing Ingress in my bedroom first floor (GPS signal is weak) but I never had problems while using high accuracy and WiFi on other devices
Opo, xperia e and moto e

OnePlus 2 GPS problems since Oxygen 3.x
OnePlus 2.
On Oxygen 2.x the GPS worked flawlessly:
Accurate, acquire location quickly, and while Location Services was always on, the phone knew how to conserve battery by only really turning it on (location icon shows up near clock) when needed.
Since Oxygen 3.x it all went bad:
Very often, GPS doesn't acquire position and sometimes nothing helps but a reboot.
Location Services is on and the GPS icon comes up and disappears near the clock every few seconds, without any app requiring it.
Any help?
Abiit the second problem: Maybe there's some app constantly turning on my GPS in the background? Know of an app to show what apps are using GPS right now?
Same problem here in Denmark with "3" network - both with OxygenOS 3.1.0 and with CM13
Rather annoying - makes me scan new phone releases.
Same problem here too!

Hi. Since 2 weeks ago, my mi a1 can't connect to any GPS satellite and it just know the location by the around Wi-Fi's and networks.
I tried with agps apps, restoring the phone and flashing the rom with miflash but it is goings to worse.
What can I do?
Anybody can help?

Probably HW problem. Test GPS by dialing *#*#6484#*#* and test the item number 27.
Just to be sure: Didn't you clear your google-framework services data to force the update?
I have problem: i lose my gps signal when i am using Google maps and i use at the same time the phone for calling.

Hi everyone. I'm on Pixel Experience CAF. Sometimes 4g network is very slow and I need to wait a lot in order to load a web page or when i try to install an app from play store it download ~100kb/sec. Other times it is very fast (100kb/s Vs ~6mb/s). I flashed latest firmware (June). I mention have this problem since upgraded to Android Pie (9.0). With Oreo everything was working fine.
I have another issue with WiFi. I have a Xiaomi Mi Band 3 so I need bluetooth enabled. I noticed that when BT is active WiFi is very slow. Instead, it is very fast when BT is disabled. Is there a solution for this problem? P.S. I don't know if this issue was even in Oreo.
From few days ago my phone started to lose GPS signal, now with every GPS test apps I can see the satellites but it didn't connect to any. I tried different ROMs, came back to MIUI but nothing changed. Is there a way to restore connectivity as I think it's a software problem because I can see satellites, so the antennas work but don't connect?
Have a similar issue, started losing connection to GPS satellites, while using in the car.

Same thing here .
Tried everything
Going to replace the phone
Update:
After one day GPS started working again without doing anything. Maybe it could be related to Android auto as I'm not using it for 2 days and my problems started when I was using it
I am currently on Atom OS and have that issue of not working GPS every time I reoot. Have to disable location service (in quick settings) and reenable them for it to work, This is probably already solved in an updated version of my ROM, but hey, it's a quick try.
I have a similar problem, but I already have several months with my redmi note 7 and after moving to miui 11, the GPS works irregularly. I have seen many comments about problems with the GPS, but I have not seen any explanation from xiaomi
Enviado desde mi P008 mediante Tapatalk
the GPS stopped working properly as if there was not enough signal,
how did you solve it? I see the satellites but a small signal and disappearing.
hardware repair - how?
or software? (goes downgrade miui?)
After update to Miui 11 i hve similar problem with my gps. I'm using app from Play stone - GPS FIX/OPTIMIZER and work fine. If i have problem with gps, run the app and restart.

I'm on Cdroid and i find smart lock under security. I had MIUI before and i Remember i had Smart lock too. When you connect a new bluetooth device system should ask you about Smart lock. Try ti search in options
Hi guys
I was having the same problem with the gps connection. after changing my region settings from Brazil to Argentina, the gps returned to work correctly. test by changing the region and always restarting with each change.
My rom: V11.0.5.0.PFGMIXM (MIUI11)
I tried everything
also unlocked the bootloader and tried other rom
fix is not a problem, but the signal is still weak (large inaccuracy), with most satellites up to 20snr
a month ago there was no problem, I suspect the gps antenna, but I do not recall any phone crash, etc.
unfortunately I find nowhere manual, video, where the antenna and how to fix it

try to change the region, restart your smartphone and check for any improvement in the gps signal.
I tried everything, fix is no problem, I catch 12 sometimes more satellites (in open area), but all with low signal. Just go under the edge of the tree, and the signal is very weak and very inaccurate.
