Has anyone tried installing magisk?
I have a stock unrooted rom on my phone. Does magisk install on our phone considering the issues it has with installing basic supersu?

Updated to 7.1.1 Beta. Flashed twrp. I then flashed magisk and then phh. I get stuck in a boot lop. I tried twice but each time I keep getting stuck in a bootloop. Does anyone have a work around? I've looked around and seems like everyone is getting it to work but me and a few others? Any help?
Not sure why you want magisk if xposed isn't supported on 7.0+ ? Just use superSU instead.
Edit: There is a (no longer a) benefit in using Magisk/phh, since magisk hide and using xpropset magisk module is detected by SafetyNet already, but see post below for the latest approach (if any):

suhide is not compatible w/ 7.1.1, so SuperSU is not an option for the 6P on the 7.1.1 Developer Preview
Flash magisk and phh su, works fine, but supersu get bootloop, something like this
7.1.1 with supersu (stable or sr1) boots fine, the problem atm is suhide, flashing suhide causes bootloops
Way possible, but without suhide is not very convenient, banks apps not working properly
So the latest superuser by chain fire works? Cause flashing magisk v8 then phh su just sends me to a bootloop.
I'm using magisk and the latest phh su on 7.1.1 and no issues what so ever even have it passing safetynet
All I did was flash the factory image, then two, then flashed phh su, magisk and then rebooted and installed xsetprop through magisk.
how are you getting this working? I haven't tested, but doesn't the 7.1.1 need a custom kernel to bypass safetynet? Kernel source isn;t out yet?
Tested on a clean install of CypherOS. It installs and passes SafetyNet without doing anything complicated. Assuming it should work on any rom without root built in like Lineage OS.
Grab it here and thank @topjohnwu. Remember to enable Magisk Hide in settings or it will not pass SafetyNET.

I tried this on an existing install but no luck.
On the new install did you have to flash the remove root zip from Lineage, or just ROM GAPPS and Magisk zips?
Thanks.

On a clean install I just flashed rom, gapps, and magisk in that order.
BTW over night Magisk lost root, a reboot and root was back though. Might be bug, might be a one time thing, I don't know.
After trying everything listed still no luck getting this to work.
Guess no Android Pay for me
I tried to install on stock ROM, it seem it dosn't work, i'll try with a custom ROM
i'm running this just fine with just the core AND the latest version of magisk. safetynet check passes too on cypherOS.
Hi,
I have tried to install Magisk on my rooted Sprint S7 a few times now, and each time the phone gets bricked. The first time, I flashed the magisk zip with FlashFire, and the second time, I used the Magisk Manager app to do the installation. Both times, the phone booted into a blue screen saying something to the effect of unsafe software being flashed and for security purposes the phone is locked up. I am new to Magisk and I am not quite sure what I am doing wrong. The goal in installing Magisk is to be able to use xposed features of Greenify, which I cannot use because the PurifyOS version of xposed is not compatible with the greenify module. Can anyone please help?
Magisk is a systemless root which can not be used on locked bootloaders
Hi to all reading this, I have a moto g4 with an unlocked bootloader and the latest twrp installed. I recently tried downloading Magisk v14 and flashed it in twrp. This put my phone in a bootloop (which is now fixed) I now want to attempt flashing magisk again but I also don't want have any problems. What are the possible reasons for it not working?
Happy new year to all you merry people
Going to update my international OP6T from 10.0.1 to 10.3.0. I have TWRP, cutom kernel and Magisk with several modules. I don't care about TWRP, only need Magisk and custom kernel. My plan is:
Clean flash full 10.3.0 from here
reboot to bootloader
boot TWRP, install magisk, ElementalX kernel
reboot to OS.
Is it a correct way or will it brick the phone? Maybe omebody can suggest a better way?
Thanks in advance
It should work. Tho you can flash Magisk from Magisk Manager. There is an option to flash to Other slot after an OTA.

So just install OTA, install Magisk to another slot and reboot? Should I uninstall all Magisk modules first?

Gosh...
The official way to do it is always the same, no need to ask at every update how to do it
Flash OTA local update
Don't reboot
From Magisk Manager flash latest twrp as a module if you want twrp
Don't reboot
From Magisk Manager install Magisk on other slot
Reboot
That's the official (cf Magisk GitHub) way to do it. Period. Do what you want with Magisk modules only a very few of them can do harm. I don't touch them. And don't uninstall Magisk before OTA it's useless on our phone
