I know the way to install Roms from KK to LP, but it all involves upgrading to stock rom CM12 & then custom rom...
Is it not possible to directly install custom CM12.x roms from KK without going through the process of installing stock CM12?

Hi!
First, to root and install custom recovery, use Autorec (LINK) : thread also has a link for ioroot25, which let you root your phone (ONLY ON KITKAT). When you have used autorec, be sure to flash latest version of TWRP (link in my signature).
If you want to go back to Kitkat, yes you can;
-By .kdz method (LINK);
-Or by flashing a .kdz file converts to .zip file (LINK : this one will let you keep custom recovery + root).
The thing you have to be advise is that when you switch between ROMS, you sometimes have to flash Baseband / bootloader / bootstack stuff like this. But this is every times describs in ROM's thread.
For stable stock ROM? I recommand you Cloudy 2.2 (kitkat ROM, see my signature for link) which is a port of the G3, add Dorimanx Kernel (see my signature) and you'll have a beast.
Also, all depends of your G2's model, there is planty of ROM for each model... I'll let you search !

Root your device (I let you search for root on Lollipop);
Use Autorec to downgrade your Bootloader;
FLASH LATEST VERSION OF TWRP;
Flash Kitkat baseband provides in CloudyG2 2.2 and then the ROM.
For now, CloudyG2 3.0 isn't officially supported on D802 by @Cloudyfa, but (very) soon he'll release CloudyG2 2.3 which is G4's port, so, wait for it.

EDIT: Maybe MODERATOR could do some sticky thread about this and jumping beetween roms? It would be helpfull, thanks.
Phone: 802
ROM: now Stock based 5.0.2 SRKG 2 3-0.0, day before official CM 12.1 build x.1021
TWRP 2.8.6.1
I want to go back to install 4.4.x, MIUI or Cloudy 2.2. I downloaded D802 PATCH DROIDTH RETURN 4.4 as sugested by many of you - so i need only to go to TWRP, flash this, reboot to recovery, flash 4.4.x Cloudy and that's it? How to recognize on whitch bootloader I sit on?
Please help me, i don't recognize difference beetween KK and LP bootloader's, bootstacks etc.
hello,
first that my device:
Model: lg g2 d802
Android version: 5.0.2 (cloudyG2 3.3)
baseband version: M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190128 (KK_Baseband_D802 )
Kernal version: 3.4.0 (the cloudy's kernal)
software version: cloudyG2 3.3
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Things that i flashed:
bootloder: KK-20H-D802-BOOT-LOADER
pach cloudyG2 3.3 for G2 d802: D802_PATCH_GO_LP_V1.1_droidth (before i flash the rom)
Dorimanx that i tried to flash: Kernel-Dorimanx-V8.4-LP-[18-38]-[06-01]-LG-D802-PWR-CORE.zip
recovery: twrp-2.8.7.3-d802-bump-blastagator-signed
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
i upgrade my lg to lolipop from kk and when i flashed the Dorimanx 8.4 LP kernal after flash rom (CLOUDYG2 3.3) the lg enter to bootloop , i fixed the bootloder and fastmode and then flash kdz rom and then the cloudy from the begining.
now the phone work but the battery worst and the phone work slowly.
1. What better: the cloudy or cyanogenmod? (or another rom ) cyanogenmod have an ir remote support ? when stble cloudy/cyanogenmod marshmellow out?
2. Flash another baseband? ( 30f? and where can i found this file with md5 code?)
3. which bootloder flash? use bootloder chenger? If i use bootloder chenger that flash baseband? which mod should i need to use ? (lolipop one?)
4. which recovery flash? whith version?
5. gps wasn't worl well, i installed the FasterGPS app and that improve but still it is slow. should i need to open the battary case or there is another way ?
thenks so so much!
If you were on LP cloudy g2 3.3 all you need was flash dorimanx 8.8 kernel. and it shouldnt have boot looped.
cloudy is stable . if CM then go qith 5.1.1 more stable than MM 6.0
best performance. but picture and camera not same quality as stock. as for ir remote yes theres one i ve seen.
you can try . roms all stock based.
icex
powerg2
google edition
for 30f look in d802 section. i think power g2 is 30f
use hybrid bootstacks.
use blastagator thermal twrp 2.8.7.3

You before the stock KitKat flash (I suggest 20C) after cloudyg2 flashed the ROM.

1.yes
2 /3 and 4 i dont know i have d800
if i understand ok. you were on stock LP. all you needed was twrp from blastagator this helps keep phone cool and prevent screen damage. ti has thermal to control cores. all you needed was hybrid bootstacks and the falsh rom.
i dont know the rest of things you flashed.
i think you just need to wipw all data/cache/dalvik and internal sd. then flash hybrid bootstacks. go to main menu/reboot into recovery. then flash rom. thats it. that is if you are in stock LP
flash it?
if i flash hybrid bootstacks i need to flash bootloder too (lp bootloder with bootloder chenger)? or that in the hybrid bootstacks
hybrid bootstacks:
-Aboot (KK)
-Dbi (LP)
-Laf (LP) (BUMP)
-Modem (LP)
-Persist (LP) (Except LS980)
-Rpm (LP)
-Sbl1 (LP)
-tz (LP)
1.twrp-2.8.7.3-d802-bump-blastagator-signed.zip (bump it?)
2.flash hybrid bootstack
3.BLChanger-d802_5_6-nevax-2.3.2-signed.zip (choose lp )

Goodmorning everyone,
sorry if i reopen an old discussion, but I find myself with a big one
problem on my smartphone Asus ZE550KL Z00LD;
I had problems installing the AOSP 6.7 custom ROM and thinking
, ignorantly, that it was a Marshmallow problem, i did the
downgrade to Lollipop, installing the StockBoot 1.16.40.763 and its
stock Rom Lollipop 1.16.40.763.
Now I find myself with Lollipop stock rom, bootloader unlocked (and therefore i can't
do no update to MM via OTA ...), and i can't install
no custom ROM from TWRP.
Can you tell me how I can update the ROM in Marshmallow and then
to install a custom ROM?
thanks a lot
and I can't install a custom room either

DM me ill give marshmallow firmware
flash it through twrp u are gud to go.
Resolved
OK thank you very much.
I solved it like this:
From Recovery Mode I updated this version WW_1.17.40.1531.
Then I installed an OTA update downloaded from a Russian site which allowed me to switch from the Lollipop version 1.17.40.1531 to the Marshmallow version 21.40.1220.1615.
Now it works perfectly both AOSP 6.7 Z00L and AOSP 5.8 Z00L
Thanks
Good weekend
