well actually i found that there was one or more apps ruin my system before i back up the system
like i said before i used 3 back up apps and whole 3 apps didnt make my system back to normal (able to install an app) this come to my curiousity then i backward 1 time before my previous back up then whole thing came to normal so i think this could be apps jammed
note: save at least 3 back up files at different time and u will far from hell
Hi guys,
I just recently bought a HTC Desire HD and have been enjoying it very much.... I have rooted and S-off, but have yet to install recovery clockwork ....
That aside, yesterday I started moving some stock app files to a folder on the sd card (so I can remove it from my phone, plus back it up just in case) with root explorer (r/w mounted), I didn't move the HtcLocationService.apk. All went ok...
But just this morning I noticed my locations icon on my phone's interface has turned into the green android image...meaning the program is gone! It cannot be found in my programs at all.
I have tried to do the "reinstall locations" in the settings, but it says "unable to find an activity to handle this action", and I've tried to go straight to the HtcLocationService.apk to install it (not even sure if it is the right application) and it says "application not installed".
I am really stumped, and would like Locations back on my DHD!!
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance
What stock apps did you uninstall? Some apps are bound to eachother. Locations is probably bound to navigation or footprints or maybe another app. So if you uninstalled that, that could be the cause.
If it's really gone, then probably the only way to reinstall it is installing the stock ROM again (or a custom one). You probably can't install it again because locations needs some other stock app (if my hypothesis are right).
I took out stuff like friendstream, Plurk, Twitter, FieldTest, Flickr, HTC_IME, EasyCard, Laputa, KKBOX, plus phone provider apps (since I'm with TaiwanMobile, myfone) so TWM_City/Market/Movie/Music etc....
I've since moved the files back into system>apps, but it hasn't changed anything....is there any possibility I could get Locations back???
I can't think of an idea to reinstall Locations that easy. You can just install the official ROM again. You don't even have to be rooted then.
Have a look at this thread. If you deleted .apk files of the 2 lowest lists, then you could try to reinstall them first. Otherwise I don't know. maybe someone else.
I would have reinstalled the official ROM again. Just to make sure everything works correctly again. (and then start over removing apps :') ).
But maybe someone else knows a better solution
Thanks for you quick reply!
Can you point me to a thread that would explain the process of installing an official rom (where i would download the rom, etc)? Plus is there a way I can back up all my games, apps and settings, so I don't have to reinstall every app and game again?
would a Factory reset help? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm hoping I get this resolved
First of all: I found this thead for installing system .apk's. Maybe that can help. But it seems pretty comlicated .

A factory reset should restore everything, (ofcourse I was tthinking to complicated :') ).
All apps you installed from the market will be reinstalled if you login with you google account again. It can take a while. It also remembers wich apps you bought. It won't however save any data (like saves for games).
For other apps (and all apps if you want to backup the data), you could download titanium backup (also available in the market). Keep in mind though that for restoring any backups made with this app, you need root acces again.
The facotry reset will remove your personal data. Only your sdcard and simcard will keep their info.
I hope all is clear what I told . So no ROM download needed. :')
Let us know if it has worked
Hey again,
I just factory reset my phone, using settings. Locations has not been restored , also some gadgets was not working (may be the widgets I have removed before). The front page weather animation is gone! Only the time left...(how would I get that back?)
Any other suggestions will be appreciated!
go to locations in settings... u will find a tab "reinstall locaton" make sure u r on wifi...and it will install it back...it happnd with me and got it back instantly
Ok, Ive been at my wits end trying to figure this problem out. My Nook is properly rooted and even has the ADP thing show up in my device manager. I got market working and played Angry Birds for a few hours last night. The only problem Ive run into is actually getting files, such as E-books, music, etc from my PC to the device. When plugged in, the device doesn't show up in my computers like normal.
My first attempt was unmounting the SD card, removing it from the Nook and inserting in my PC. It showed up under My Computer as a "boot" device. I was able to explore it and the only viable folder that contained folders such as music, downloads, etc was under something called .002trash (as I remember). I placed a few files in the download folder, placed it back in my Nook, rebooted and searched for them with a file manager I got off the market. The folders I originally saw when i mounted the SD card in my PC were there, but the files I placed in their were not.
I also tried the SDK route, installed and reinstalled a multitude of times and cant for the life of me get my device to show up. Also tried a market app called Astro. The only problem with this app is it requires me to enter my server name a bunch of other info. Im more of a hard wired type of person so not too technical with wireless. I attempted my 192.168...... number and that was a no go.
There may be a simple solution to this problem but I haven't been able to find it in the past few days and totally frustrated. Any help is greatly appreciated.
You may want to check out this thread, I was having similar problems and this is what I had to do.

So i bought a new Galaxy S4 19505 and i like everything about this phone till i found a major problem. Any picture or video on the phone doesn't show up in the stock gallery, only the pictures or videos taken by the camera application would show up. I told myself that this isn't a big issue and i installed quickpic which is somehow better than the stock gallery and works perfectly. However today i discovered that my phone doesn't detect any ringtones installed or any alarm tones! the same goes for the notification sounds, the three lists are just empty!
I tried installing several media scan applications from the playstore, i understand that such applications manually trigger the Android Media Scanner to run so it would detect new media files but unfortunately all of those applications fail on startup.
Now i suppose that my media scanner file is corrupted, so is there anyway i could replace it?
Thanks in advance.

Assuming you have correctly diagnosed the problem (which I have no idea) then what you are describing is a corrupted system file.
As long as it's only a system file that is corrupted and not the storage card itself, you should be able to fix this by using Odin to reflash your stock firmware. This will wipe your phone clean and restore everything fresh. And I mean everything. So if you have photos or music on their you want to keep, put it on an external SD card or move it to a PC or something.
This will wipe out the corrupted system file and replace it with a good one.
You can also root the device and install custom software, which will basically do the same thing but give you a completely different operating system. (Well...somewhat different. It'll still be Android. Just a different flavor.)
If the internal storage is physically damaged, then there is nothing you can do.
Hello to everyone,
Recently I move my videos to secure folder and after it moved I can't find it inside gallery. So I googled it and found that some say to restart or update the app s.f. I did some restart and it didn't fix my problem I go update but nothing to update so what I've decided is to deactivate s.f. and what happens is it made a backup folder to transfer all files to that folder. But the problem is that some of my videos that lost wasn't there but some are. Now I try to activate s.f. again and move some videos and again it wasn't there. I tried to find it through file manager build in by s.f. and the videos was there inside the same folder where the videos are stored before. It only shows on file manager of s.f. but not showing in s.f. gallery. The old videos the was gone now is not there since I decided to deactivate s.f.. Now I want to recover it using dig deep software but it needs to be rooted. But if I root my note fe it needs to wipe the internal data. My question is, if I wipe my internal data and root my device will my videos be recovered? I don't want to root my device since I'm very satisfied with it.
If anyone there could point me to the right direction of what to do to recover my videos would be appreciated. It was my daughter's video. I never saw here since birth because I work abroad and she was my child from outside marriage and the mother of my child we're not in good terms right now. TIA
