CM/AOSP Proximity sensor - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Many say they have issues with proximity sensor on custom ROMs. I have experienced it a lot as well (even on CM10.2): phone turns on even if sensor is blocked. So phone often turns on by itseif when for example in pocket.
I have tried changing the settings in ROM but couldn't get it to work like stock. Anyone here who had this problem and fixed it?

Call Proximity Sensor not working properly

Just tips for people who might have the same issue as me.
Problem: When you are in a call, the proximity sensor turns off the screen but when you pull the phone away from your face the screen stays off.
Solution: In my case it was because there were dusts covering the proximity sensor which caused it to not be as sensitive as it should. I blew some compressed air thru the speaker (top) and everything works well.
Hope this helps, I was struggling with it for months thinking maybe a custom rom installation went haywire.

I have this problem too. I believe my proximity sensor is damaged. I have done a lot of reading out there and tried all solutions. This is very annoying when you want to turn on the speakerphone or use the keypad when calling #'s that require input. I tried using Pacman rom 4.2.2 and 4.4. I heard its possible to disable the proximity sensor during calls with stock Touchwiz rom, but I can't stand it. I may consider trying Goldeneye 4.4 TW Rom, but installation seems like a major hassle. I hope there is a custom rom out there that disables the proximity sensor.

[Q] What mod allows you to disable the in-call proximity sensor?

Hi everyone,
Long story short, I got a used Nexus 4 off someone, everything works perfectly except the proximity sensor. During a call the screen blacks out and doesn't come back unless I hard reset the phone to hang up. I figured out it was a problem with the proximity sensor. Upon reading these forums and many other articles on Google about taking off the screen protector (which I don't have) and swapping the rubber "sensor" holder holes, I decided to open the phone up and take a look.
It appears that my phone is missing the rubber piece to hold the proximity and light sensors in place, making the sensor unusable and causing many issues with making calls. I've tried playing around with it using other peoples' suggestions and nothing has worked. I've decided to just find a way to disable the proximity sensor instead during a call, as I'll be quite satisfied with just a simple software fix.
Right now I am using Proximity Screen OFF to keep the screen on, but it drains my battery pretty hard. I was thinking to just flash my phone with a mod that allows me to turn the proximity sensor off during a call.
Any suggestions as to which mod contains this feature?
Thank you.

Disable Proximity Sensor @ Lollipop

Hello,
i´m looking for a solution for my proximity sensor problem. After drop down and screen replacement, i recognized that the sensor doesn´t work anyomore like he normally should.
The problem is well known, but i didn´t want to tear my nexus down. With the app Proximity Screen Off Lite it was possible to disable the sensor, but now, after updating to 5.0 it doesn´t work anymore.
I tried lots of other proximity apps, but none of them are working.
So, can anyone help me? (Phone is rooted)

did you ever future anything out? i have a similar problem since installing 5

Proximity sensor triggering Capacitive keys in stock Roms

Hey guys.. I've been having a strange problem with my S4 i9500.
I know there are a lot of people having Proximity sensor bugs but my problem is different.
My Proximity sensor is working totally fine with phone calls and everything seems fine with the sensor.. however whenever the proximity sensor is triggered (switched from far to near) it acts as a press on the menu button (in stock rom it opens the search and in s6/note5 ports it opens multi-window. but the weird thing about this bug that it doesn't happen in GearCM.. only in stock based roms.
it's sounds like not a bug deal bit it is.. cuz whenever my phone reboots 80% of the times it gets stuck in safe mode because of this. and I cannot get out of it untill I do a cache/dalvic cache wipe .
And Ideas ? does anyone had a similar problem? I hope I explained it well.

Trying to find Xperia Z3 proximity /dev??

I am having issues with my Z3 proximity sensor being activated when it's not supposed to.. e.g. when I receive a call the screen will just go black and I cannot answer the call or even see who is calling me, same when I dial out, I just have to hope the other person hangs up or I have to soft reset my phone with power + vol up until it turns off then restart.
I have tried all the silly apps and none of them work, or they are just bloated with ads etc. and besides I would rather not have to rely on an app for this. I have read in a few places that the proximity sensor is at /dev/cm3602 but only on certain devices, and possibly only on ICS/JB.
Surely there must be a way to disable the proximity sensor via root shell?
I have tried so many things, at first I thought it was a firmware issue, but after trying various ROMs I figured it's not. What confuses me is that the proximity sensor and light sensor are the same sensor, and the light part works fine but the proximity doesn't.
Is there anyone out there who knows anything about this? Has done this before? Or is willing to give me any idea on how to get going in the right direction?
Cheers in advance..
