camera is best !! i love this phone's camera
You should consult a doctor for your eyes.
Edit : The hardware is good, but the way how the software use it is pretty bad. Everytime I have to inscrease sharpness, contrast etc with photoshop to make descent pictures with this phone. I didn't have to do that with my LG G3.

You must have a custom made Mate 8 with a better camera. And apparently a bigger screen as well.
That might explain things. The rest of us have a mediocre camera and a smaller screen.
Dude is some kind of sales representative on drugs.

I understand your point of view. After all, if you like your device, that's the most important. But in comparison with some lastest flagship made by LG or Sammy, the Mate 8 camera pics are really %*^!*ù$^:!. I'm thinking to sell my device coz of this (I miss my bricked lg g3).

Hi,
I am pretty new to the Xiaomi- and especially to the Mediathek-world. This is why I have this noob question :silly:
Is the Redmi Pro currently the top smartphone by Xiaomi, at least hardware-wise?
Of course, besides Mi5/S, which run the SD 820/821...
Or is e.g. the Note 4 the stronger device, or any other? As far as I know, the Redmi-line is more a budget-thing, right?
Thx for any info on this! :highfive:
Best
P
Redmi Pro is known as the Xiaomi Redmi's flagship and that means It is the strongest of the Redmi's even that it is Mediatek powered . mediatek disadvantage is that they does not release sources (which is needed for compiling custom roms and kernels) and the Snapdragon release its sources thats because snapdragon devices are the most wanted and that means bigger price but weaker phone. redmi pro's helio x20 or x25 is compared to snapdragon 810 and and its very close to sd 820. Redmi note 4 has the same chip (x20) but isnt better than redmi pro.Redmi note 4 PRO has a sd652 and that means it has more development for that device.
If you want a phone with a lot development buy redmi note 4 PRO --- if you want a stronger phone buy REDMI PRO.
PS: the best xiaomi for now is MI MIX (the bezelles device
Thank you very much! My times of ROM-hopping are over...my current S7 is not even rooted...so I guess the Redmi Pro will be my first try on the chinese devices (Huawei P9 would be interesting, too, but I am searching for a bigger phone)
I have checked the Mix, it looks gorgeous and I would love to get my hands on this, but the price is far from what I invest in smartphones normally...
So, next step is checking the int. Xiaomi-ROM for the Pro, how to install and what to expect...
The best xiaomi device now is mi5, mi mix, mi note 2.
S7 has much better camera. Redmi Pro is not considered as flagman.
Xiaomi has better models like Mi5.
Even so I would prefare Redmi Pro because of OLED display.
But now Im having trouble with flashing ROM as it doesn't has official global vertion. So you need to apply for unlock bootloader and wait. Some people wait more than 10 days.
It's a good phone but with some really annoying hang ups. ( performance in general is good to very good with occasional lag due to bad core switching, screen is nice although a tad dim for outdoor use, build quality is great)
First of all the camera is a complete waste of time and this appears to be a software issue as the sensor it's self is capable of taking decent photographs. But it's honestly one of the worst smart phone cameras I've used and I've used a lot.
If you've ever used a blackberry in 2010-2011 that's the sort of quality so expect only at higher resolutions.
Second of all Xiaomi appears to have abandoned further development for the device ( no news on 7.0)
Also its missing wireless n support which is just weird, doesn't bother me oh so much as I rarely transfer files over WiFi but still an odd omission.

He said the flagship for the xiaomi redmi series not xiaomi mi series
Hello all,
which of these two would you suggest?
I prefer bigger screen, but since it's only a 0.3 inch difference that's not a big deciding factor.
the most important factor for me is durability, both in terms of software (higher chance for future android updates) and hardware (build quality).
I know the SoC on honor 8 is better, but I don't play games, is the SoC on Nova 2 plus enough for web surfing, youtube, facebook, etc. ?
also battery life is very important.
(don't suggest honor 8 pro, because it's much more expensive in my country. these two are the same price)
please help me decide, i am dying here :crying: :crying:
nova 2 + ::
Metal body ,best cameras f 1.8 ( pictures will be awesome),battery is good backup with 3340 mAh,new Soc have to see wheather it performs well.
Honor 8::
Premium feel , great development(custom oreo is under-desk),decent battery life.good performance, cheap.also we got 2 years policy software update.
i prefer honor 8 over nova 2 +.
choose wisely
If you want battery, then go with Nova 2 plus.
All I can say now is, do a list with the things you want in a phone then, see which fots your needs better
All the best
I think u should go for the Honor 8 rather than the Nova 2 Plus. Obviously it has a greater chance of getting future software updates but considering how much more expensive it is than the Honor 8 it doesn't seem to be worth the money.
It has a Kirin 6xx series processor instead of the 9xx series processor. The 6xx series is a mid ranger processor so the performance will never live up to the Honor 8. It only has A53 cores which are low power cores. Whereas the Honor 8 has both A53 and A72 which means performance will be a lot better. Even in the graphics front the Honor 8 easily outclasses it with a 4 core GPU instead of a 2 core GPU. U might see battery gains thought because of the SOC only running off of A53 cores.
About the camera it won't be a huge upgrade from the Honor 8. It has a selfie camera with 20MP which will definitely be better but in terms of rear cameras it might perform only a little better in low light because of it's f1.8 aperture.
Considering how the processor and GPU is a downgrade and how the camera is only marginally better I think I would go for the Honor 8.
But then again it depends on what u want better performance or better battery life.
I've also attached a full spec comparison below.

No , sapphire blue is the beat over all.
I had decided on buying honor 8 lite reading the good reviews of the phone. However, I came to know Honor 9 Lite is also available, which is an upgrade over it. Reading more about Honor 9 Lite, it seems like an average phone but still it has little faster processor, Oreo out of the box and for what its worth dual cameras on rear and on front.
I'm getting Honor 8 lite (4GB+64GB conf) in same price as Honor 9 Lite (3GB+32GB). Honor 8 Lite has favorable camera reviews than 9 Lite. Good Camera and more RAM is big plus on 8 lite, however newer processor and Oreo out of box are also factors to consider for 9 lite. What do owners of Honor 8 Lite think ?
Oh and by the way, its a gift for someone non-tech, so it will be on all stock and non root all the time.
Go for the honor 9 lite...as you said it has a dual camera and it's good to add a bokeh effect if you are a photographer
Sent from my PRA-LA1 using Tapatalk
Hi
I think honor 9 lite is better.
1. It supports lte cat 6 so it supports 4.5 g mobile data while 8 lite doesn't.
2. The display is better in 9 lite. The screen ratio is 18:9 and resolution is ((full hd +)) while 8 lite is 16:9 and full hd.
3. As you said if the phone will stay on stock rom so 9 lite would be a better choice since it's oreo out of box and will definitely Get Android P update( Huawei's record shows that they will send at least on major update for their phone. If we don't say definitely but we can say it has high chance to get Android p update.) . While we dont know if 8 lite will get android p or not.
4. Honor 9 lite has a newer design and it's more up to date compare to 8 lite.
5. Honor 9 lite has dual camera both on back and front. You can use
More effects. And 9 lite cameras should have more quality Compare to cameras of 8 lite.
6. The soc of honor9 lite is more powerful. (not much but it's more powerful)
I think 3 gb of rams still can do everything you want from a phone and you can expand the storage if 32 gb is not enough for you.
But you shall research more about the battery life of 9 lite
Since compare to 8 lite it got a bigger display and more powerful soc but the battery capacity is same on both phone.
It's (beyond) time for me to get a more current phone. Here's my requirements:
5.2 - 5.5"
rootable (bootloader unlockable)
full 64bit hardware (not just the CPU) + 64bit (ARM) Android
at least 32 GB internal storage, better 64 GB
3 or more GB RAM
13 or more Megapixel camera resolution
precise GPS module for Navigation
natively supporting at least Android 9 for native EdXposed capability, better Android 10
stable custom ROM with active current support available (preferred: LineageOS)
SD card slot (dual sim optional)
needn't be new, can be used
LTE is fine - no need for 5G (5G would be fine thanks to downwards capability with LTE/ 4G)
colors: white, silver, dark green, blue/ lavender (no black)
NOT a Huawei
Do above criteria ring any bell? Which phone(s) would you suggest to me?

Hi, noticed you already bought your phone, but maybe next time if you need advice, then also mention your budget.
Either way, the Nokia 6.1 isnt a great phone, if you can sell it then I'd recommend going for a Poco M3 (Xiaomi) in the USD220 range, or a Realme C3 if you wanna get cheap (around USD 150). Both are available brand new, they have similar processor performance, large screens, good battery life etc. The Poco M3's camera is much better than the Realme C3's, but thats the price you have to pay to reduce the cost. Both Poco's and Realme's software sucks in my opinion, but you're going to use a custom ROM anyways, so that won't be an issue for you. Android 12 is available through custom ROMs for both phones, and they have plenty of support on XDA.
Hi @PhotonIce thanks for your recommendations. Both, the Xiaomi Poco M3 and the Realme C3, are 6,5" and exceed my 5.2" - 5.5" size range. I've used a Nokia 6.2 for half a year last year, so I'll see in the next few months how it'll smaller sibling will perform. My needs are rather low, with Navigation apps (Magic Earth, TomTom) setting the top bar for performance (no gaming or such). At this point I can leave making pixel-sharp photos of UFOs to others ..
Oops, sorry my bad, thought it said 6.2-6.5inch range
Though in that range, I'd still highly recommend the Mi Note 3 (if you can get it). It has a much better SoC, a 12mp camera with OIS and a 12mp telephoto, and a 16mp selfie camera.
indeed nice the Xiaomi Mi Note 3, and even with official and latest LineageOS support. Good to know
[EDIT] not available in Central Europe - closest region here to order from would be UK. Only close sibling available here would be the Xiaomi Mi A1 (Mi 5X).
The mi a1 isnt as impressive, I guess it's best if you keep your nokia
Also the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 doesn't have a headphone jack.

True, but you didn't mention that in your list of requirements, so you can't really blame me for that.
