Hi Guys, I'm using this aftermarket CG-30AD with spec:
- Anroid 5.1.1
- Quad Core 1.6GHz MTK8227 Cortex A9
- 1GB DDR5
- 16GB Flash Memory
- WiFi, GPS, Radio
- No DVD
No complaint so far about the unit, I installed with rear camera and DVR camera, all can connected perfectly.
However the only downside is the volume configuration and the microphone input is only on the unit itself.
Bluetooth connection to the phone totally useless, need to yell like hell. My mouth and head must facing to the unit, for other party can hear clearly.
Speaking "Okay Google", Google search or other voice recognition really terrible.
I tried many apps to boost the voice and sound, none are working what I expected.
I was thinking to get/modify this with external microphone, but not to much hassle to make changes on the unit itself, because still under warranty.
I'm not sure if this USB android microphone will works?

But I really do not need the speaker output, I'm afraid this will disable my main speaker on the car itself. I only need the microphone function, so I can use external microphone like this:

Any thought anyone?

What microphones are you guys using for the Joying Sofia units?
When I make calls the other party always complains about poor audio quality coming from me so I'd like to improve that - if possible

You may want to do a test just recording with the microphone, just to make sure the microphone is the issue. Also try changing the mic sensitivity settings in the car settings, see if that helps. I was using the external mic that came with my unit for a few weeks with no complaints. It seemed to work better on the lower sensitivity level in the car settings.
I finally ended up using the microphone that was built in my car headliner already. I just connected a 3.5mm plug to the 2 wires going to the old head unit. It seems a bit softer than the joying mic, but much less background noise.
I have purchased 3 different Joying head units and they all work for recording voice with both internal or external microphones and using a voice recording app but none of them work during a Bluetooth call. Any ideas? I'm stumped. Tried windows phone, android phone and then iPhone. Maybe a bad batch that are all missing a connection to the Bluetooth module?
Hi Cabela,
Which unit do you currently have, I am experiencing similar problems and the manufacturer advised me to disconnect the external mic.
Have you found a work around...
Hey! I'm more of an Android newbie (I have an iPhone). I just installed an Android head unit in my car. So far everything is pretty good except the Bluetooth audio quality. Whenever a cymbal hits in a song, it distorts and sounds really bad. It doesn't distort when playing music any other way. I know it's not my iPhone, because it streams to other devices just fine. This seems to be a common problem in some radios, and even just the android OS. How can I fix it?
My radio is an Android 6.0.1 unit with an Octa Core chip, 2gb of ram, and 32gb of flash, which I bought from Idoing on AliExpress (since it won't let me post a link)
Thanks!
I'm having the same issue. I'm really bummed about it as I love the unit but the bluetooth sound quality just sours it
I've read people just getting Bluetooth dongles and attaching them to AUX, but that's more of a hack then a solution.
We may be SOL if it's a hardware issue. I'll keep searching.
After reading a lot of the MTCD threads I've heard people using this Bt+Wifi dongle
https://www.ebay.com/itm/151917910379
According to reports, the head unit will use it as the system's internal Bluetooth.
I've ordered one and once it arrives will report back on it this fixes our issue.
Dont know if it's relevant, but I'm using the preamp outs on my unit as my car has a builtin bose amplifier,
@bonesteel94 are you using the preamp outs or just the standard amplified signal from the head unit?
I have posted questions about getting the unit on another forum but thought I'd post my experience, findings and also any questions raised to both help others and maybe get answers and help.
I went with the Erisin Es5060pb. Its the best spec I could find. Runs full android 6.0. Octa core processor. 2gb ram. 32gb storage.
Overall it went in much easier than i thought, simply plugging into the standard connector. We wired the included ext mic and routed it close to my head in the drivers seat. Routed the gps antenna close to the windscreen. I also connected the rear usb and put through a hole in the glove box which I connected the separately bought 3g dongle (might eventually just use wifi tethering from my phone) and that works well.
The amount of things it does are fantastic. Dvds, cds, usb thumb drives for both music and videos, and the same for micro sd. Google maps work ok, see below, as does youtube.
Issues -
1) The radio sounded terrible at first and needed a lot of tweeking in the equilizer app. Much better now (still not great though) but oddly is a little better with music played from files. I can't find an app that actually uses the FM antenna to see if it's better. It is also odd that any app's equilizer such as Pi Music player effects only that app and the radio is only affected by the inbuilt equilizer.
2)The fader thinks I'm in left hand drive so doesn't sound right if changed to only driver. Also when moved to only rear speakers it also still plays in the front centre, only turning off the front sides
3)When playing audio /video while accessing Internet via either wifi or data, (such as a YouTube video) there is low volume interference in the background. After a while this stopped but was annoying.
4)Due to having the 'Loud' option enabled in the inbuilt equilizer app which improved sound not just volume, it is only for music such as the radio, all other sounds are much lower. This means that if i have google maps on while playing the radio, the Google maps voice is way too low. By turning the volume up it increases but so does the radio which then gets too high.
5) due to all the messing with audio i have started to realise that i havent got a clue how to get the best out of an equilizer. i prefer the 'pop' type config of a higher setting on the middle sliders and a bit lower either side but i just cant get it right. any suggestions?
Hopefully this helps others and if anyone can help with any thoughts on the issues , I'd appreciate the help
Marc
anyone?

I have a lot of problems with this device, too. I'm using the custom rom from Malaysk.
1. FM signal and sound quality are terrible. I think there is no way to optimize.
2. If I'm connecting an usb-device while music is playing, music begins to stutter for a little time until the usb-device is loaded.
3. Bluetooth streaming quality is very poor! This was the reason why I had installed spotify directly on the unit.
4. Bluetooth pairs only every second time of unit boot to my mobile phone. Sometimes you have to connect manually...
5. Wifi connections sometimes can't be established although strong signal is available.
6. By using a 3G dongle for mobile internet, the unit freezes sometimes so you have to reboot it... I think this is caused by changing the cellular power of the dongle (3G/2G, 2G needs more power)
Im afraid i haven't had any of those issues. My sound issue was sorted by removing the 7th speaker that should have only been used for voice like factory sat nav.
hello
I want to buy this head unit for my toyota. ( https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/3303...&terminal_id=c11bb0d4f974459aadcf038196f97bf8 )
I need to know a few things before I buy...
how is the voice quality during calls, and can I install an external microphone.
can I use my stock reverse camera with this radio. (maybe with an adapter )
I want to install a front camera (from bumper, for when I am parking)
do you know is steering wheel control function?
btw some higher end head units have a usb and mic adapter. I think I can install a external mic through there but I don't find the adapter in the internet ( see wiring photos. read number 2. adapter usb + mic) https://www.seicane.com/android-201...screen-4g-wifi-dab-tpms-dab-dvr-obdii-s169208)
Not sure about the Seicane, but most Android HU has mediocre built-in mic for handsfree. It does not filter out noise so the factory keeps the gain low resulting in soft human voice and louder car noise. It’s a tricky acoustic problems. Adding external mic is easy as plugging in a 3.5mm jack, if your model comes with a mic jack.
Factory backup camera, steering wheel, etc works fine in my toyota. But make sure you communicate with your seller. They should ask your car model and will provide you the right wires. But double check and make sure.
I install a USB dashcam, and it works with the built-in dashcam app. Parking assist camera seems to require specific wiring it can be a hit or miss. I tried installing my dashcam, and configuring it as a front camera, but it doesn’t work even after I work the settings to activate camera reverse.
Hey
i don't know if someone of you might be able to help me (i hope someone know), but 99% of the time when I am using CarPlay it works perfectly except for one thing : when Siri talk / read a message or a notification the audio quality of Siri voice is really bad (and it's the same when i call someone, the voice from the one that i talk to is really bad in term of audio quality.
I don’t know why, especially that the music in the background is still played with a good audio quality :/
Maybe someone has a software update for my Junsun V1 Pro 8+128gb using a Mediatek MT6768 SoC ?
(I've tried with IOS 15, 15.2 and 15.4 and it does the same problem)
Thanks in advance :/
I have the same unit as yours. What car is yours installed in? Mine plays excellent audio with music but no sound at all when in phone calls. Wired CarPlay, Wireless CarPlay, Bluetooth phone calls, all use the microphone perfectly, but when it comes to hearing the other person, I can't hear anything. And yes, I've turned the volume up all the way.
