Kernel help? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Could anyone tell me which kernel to go for that is best for battery life ( don't need usb plug n play ).
Kernel for AOSP based MM rom which is up to date with the latest security patch.
Also the configurations if any needed to be done to the said kernel.

I've been using quanta kernel v20 with force doze App amplify app default settings and l speed app with battery profile on and and kernel auditor app with power saving governor on cpu and 600mhz minimum and and settings database editor to turn off wifi and Bluetooth scanning and etc other stuff off
got 5 day battery life projected this is with wifi and data off and location off battery saving mode on but cellular connection off just to say what is possible I am on cm13 8-20 snapshot build
A day battery life is probably my average right now with light use realistic use because I actually turn the screen on the projection was for screen off battery life
I also have xposed 87 test 1 installed

Has quanta been updated to the latest security patch? The last I checked it still had August security patch.

There is no magic kernel that is by far the best and superior to everything else. There are different kernel which do all the same, like roms. The differnces are the presettings, which you can change to your likings in every kernel. Just choose one and play around with some settings.

I get that u have to tweak the settings to get the desired results but I wanted to know which kernel has the latest security patch. For a AOSP based MM rom.

[Q] open question on kernel choice

Hi all,
I am a normal android user and of course I like mod, flash and modify my rom.
About the rom the choice is very personal, but what about the kernel??
Ok, I can make undervolt, overclock and sometimes change governor...every kernel now have such features..
maybe something is different for sound settings or color settings, also very personal...
So, which is your idea behind the choice of your favourite kernel ???
I try to choose a kernel with good combination of performance and battery life. Battery life being top priority. I monitor deep sleep, and time spent at various frequencies. Of course that requires a lot of testing.
Kernel choice is based on what works best on YOUR phone...so you need to back up, flash the kernel of choice and see how it reacts to how YOU use the phone.
Happy Flashing

JFLTEUSC Lollipop Kernel Question

Hello
I have a jflteusc (US Cellular Galaxy S4) and have been running Vanir's 5.0.2.022815 build.
Running great so far, I have one major issue though. The CPU Governor is running in PERFORMANCE mode for each multi-cpu. This results in #1 the phone running very hot while doing most tasks, and #2 the battery draining pretty quickly. Over the last three days, I have run out of battery each day with minor usage within about 10 hours.
Today, just for fun, I used the app "3C Toolbox Pro" to set the Governor to INTERACTIVE for the main setting and each CPU. Granted, these settings do not save if I reboot my phone. Today I had a normal 11ish hour work day, used my phone an average amount (a few calls, some texts, some wifi and data browsing, email, weather and other apps were running in the background), and when I left work I still had 82% battery left.
Does anyone know of a Kernel that works with the JFLTEUSC on Lollipop/Vanir that does not run in such a battery intensive mode? I use to use apps like SETCPU and 3CToolbox Pro to manage governors on other phones, but both don't work well (save settings) with Multi-CPU phones.
Thanks
Don't kernels like Googy-Max, Alucard or Ktoonsez work on this model or rom?
If anyone could confirm this, that would be great. I have been using Trickstermod to force the governor to run Interactive, which tremendously increased my battery life
If no one else knows, then I don't see any other option other than trying yourself...
Just do a backup before.
Ktoonsez has only TW 5.0 Kernel.
The other 2 have AOSP, TW and GE 5.0 kernels.
Took the plunge and installed the latest Alucard for 5.0
Working fine so far, will reference that thread for specific info
Thanks

ROM's, Kernels and WiFi performance.

Do custom ROM's and kernels affect the WiFi performance in any way?
If so then what would be the best ROM for WiFi performance.
I've recently switched to Euphoria OS 1.1 and I've noticed that I often get disconnected in online apps.
I'm thinking it has to do something with drivers like Viper4Android.
Just like Viper4Android increases music quality then there possibly exists a driver that increases the WiFi performance?
EDIT
_____________
I've looked around a bit and I found an article explaining that the kernel is the host to the WiFi Driver.
Can anyone confirm this? If so what kernel would be the best for a jfltexx/i9505?

The kernel controls the hardware of the phone. It's actually the bridge between hardware and software.
Yes, a kernel can affect the functionality of your WiFi (if it turns on or not) but I don't think it has an effect on the performance or quality of the signal.
Battery saving mode reduces background data. When the screen is turned off, the connection is cut. So if you're using it, stop, unless really necessary.

The Last Rom for my beloved OP2

Hi folks,
Since my OP5 will arrive today, i want to prepare my OP2 for giveaway.
Actually i am on Ressurection Remix android 6 and looking for the last rom to flash.
I would like to see a Nougat rom( Not necessary, Marshmallow i also ok, but not below) with a simple UI and more important, a great battery life. Since i am giving the phone to my dad(no Power user^^, he even doesnt use cellular data just WIFI) I am also looking for kernel settings saving energy with downvolting or other settings. Basically the phone just should be able to handle Line and other messaging services, calling, camera and a little bit of surfing.
If Somebody has suggestion what to flash, setup in Kernel settings and/or other "hacks" improving battery setting to the max(while still smooth) i am Thankful
Best regards

Cosmic OS is good currently i am on that one.....but if you are looking for lil better battery go for Flyme 6 official one IN version.
Personally the easiest way to keep him up to date would be with lineage and using a lineage updater from the play store. That way he will always have the security updates.
If you're giving it to someone who doesn't know about custom roms and stuff, I think it's best to leave it stock, as it is reliable and mostly stable.
With that kind of usage, I would say unofficial lineage by seraph08 with franco kernel with all the battery life labs option turned on and naptime.
For the purposes you listed, here's the setup I'd recommend:
Stock OOS 3.6.0
Boeffla Kernel w/ The Peterle's Impulse tuned v 3.1 profile
Naptime
Network set to 2G (or 3G, whatever's the lowest available on his network)
I've set up an OP2 with a similar set up and have got an easy 5-6 hr SOT.

XENON XD is all you need

Instable CPU load and temperature even in idle

Greetings to XDA members
I have a issue with my note 3 here is the detail:
Its been while when I started to notice that CPU started to behave strangely you may say how do you know?well I used CPU monitor app and I saw that both CPU load and temperature were rising and falling like this;CPU load:15%
16% 78% %40 100% 3% 4%
CPU Temp: 48 52 53 52 55 53........60 59 61 and then it goes back to 48( these numbers have seen in idle)
I didn't trust these number than I installed stability test 2.7 from play store and ran a classic test after 5 minutes of test passed temp was rised to 80 C!!! Application itself suggested that it should at least takes 15 minutes to significant errors happen(worst case).
So, What should I do? Is it a hardware problem or software? Help!

ROM:Crdroid Unofficial (I'm pretty sure the problem isn't related to ROM)
Kernel:Synergy RC18
Model:N9005
Thanks in advance
Just tell me if you need more information.
Almost forgotten... After installing kernel it seems that CPU load settled down it was less likely to jump more frequently. Unstable temperature still is a issue anyway

tl;dr disable/ignored app using privacy guard, use battery saving app(greenify and amplify), got Xposed then read guide
forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884/amp/
That rom got privacy guard?(setting-privacy-privacy guard)
If YES, go to advance in privacy guard.
In location, device and background, this 3 you need to monitor because almost all app that affect your battery come from here.
Google Play Service is priority, just disable/ignored permission this one first and everything should be fine.
Another possibility is kernel but almost all latest kernel for note 3 is stable now unless you pick kernel for performance.
If you want more battery saving this apps is good:
Greenify
Amplify
If you can install Xposed and knoe about Xposed take a look at this forum:
