I tried to search for a thread relating to this but couldn't find anything, if anyone knows of one a link would be appreciated.
OK, so I flashed Motleys kernel 2 days ago. Everything was running fine, I had it OC'd to 1.6 and it was super fast and smooth. I had set the governor to "on-demand" to try and save some battery life(over "performance"), and also because it seemed like the CPU would run at full 1.6 constantly if it was set to performance (I don't know if that's how it should be or not, but this isn't the issue). I used System Tuner to OC it like he recommended in his thread.
Yesterday I set it to performance to run some benchmarks, and then continued using it on performance to see how it felt. About an hour and a half later I also started messing with my home screen and apps and ended up accidentally using Quick Boot to take me to the bootloader. After powering it back on I checked System Tuner to set the governor and once I did I noticed, according to System Tuner, that 2-4 of the cores are running at full 1.6 and the CPU usage is from 25%-100% even though I have nothing open.
I flashed my recovery via Clockworkmod Recovery, Motleys kernel is now replaced by the stock kernel, however I'm still having the same issue, but just at 1.3. Any idea why the CPU is running so high, for apparently no reason?
.....
OK, so I just checked System Tuner again and the CPU doesn't seem to be doing as bad now, but it's still all over the place and I don't have anything else open. Here are the times:
Offline - 77%
340MHz -11%
475Mhz 1%
1.2Ghz - 5%
1.3Ghz - 1%
Compared to yesterday when it had said 1.3GHz 79% or something like that (and was running nothing but system tuner).
So, yeah, that does seem a lot better but one thing remains; the CPU usage still jumps up to almost 50% and once again, I am running nothing but System Tuner, so something still doesn't feel right.
I think ondemand governor is causing the CPU to shoot up so often and quickly.(That's all I can think of.) I always use interactive and it's usually the preferred governor. Ondemand is more for people who play lots of games and they need the extra boost. If you game a lot then I guess you should still to it.

Hi, I'm in the process of attempting to maximize my phone's battery life in every way possible. But my s4 likes to run at max frequencies when in chrome, flipboard, calculator, text messaging, etc. Even if it's the only app open it still runs at 1.89ghz. I have set the max frequency to 1ghz and it runs fine with no lag. I have downloaded rom tool box pro and set profiles for max speed when screen off/on etc. But is there anyway to force the phone to use intermittent frequencies? Or i can set certain apps to run at a higher clock rate, like games? I'm using chronic kernel and Dirty Unicorn 3.9.
download and flash Ktoon kernel. You can then use the KTweaker app to customize your clock speeds for different situations. If you look in the thread they list the settings that provide maximum battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292341
You can also use Tasker to accomplish this on an app by app basis.
I've tried Ktoonz before but I've had weird battery drain issues with it, so i stopped using it. With ktoonz my phone would drain 5-6% an hour when idling with just data on. But i'll give ktoonz another go. I'll try using tasker as well thanks for the suggestions.
Edit: I fixed the crashing, i think the performance controller from chronic kernel was conflicting with the cpu controller from ktoonz, since when i disabled it it worked fine.
Hi, so I've had my G2 D800 model for a while (about a year or two), and for the most part, it's been an excellent phone despite being 3 years old now. Never had any slowdown problems, and it's always performed well in games and in general.
But just recently, about a week ago, it just started lagging out and being very, very slow.
For example, if I'm watching a YT video through the app, if I rotate the screen, it takes maybe 5-8 seconds to actually rotate. Also, in a lot of circumstances where the keyboard has to pop up, it just freezes the app until the keyboard pops up maybe 10 seconds later.
It's also just laggier in general in most apps, scrolling through FB or Twitter freezes nearly every second when I'm scrolling. It's generally unresponsive and sometimes just freezes outright. It also acts this way on the homescreen, and in most everything else.
The most annoying part, however, is that sometimes the devices just doesn't turn on for sometimes up to 15 seconds after pushing the power button (and it usually just refuses to turn on when using my knock code).
The odd part, however, is that once it's actually in something like a game, it performs perfectly fine.
I've played a number of Cardboard games, as well as games like Nova 3, and it performs perfectly.
I've also ran multiple benchmarks (Geekbench, 3DMark, etc), and it scores around where it should.
Info about the device:
LG G2 D800
Stock Lollipop 5.0.2
Software Ver. D80030f
Kernel Ver. 3.4.0
Rooted
TWRP Recovery installed
XPosed Lollipop installed
G3 Tweaks installed, a number of tweaks applied
Everything else is stock (homescreen, etc)
What I've tried/checked:
Checked memory usage during "lag sessions", rarely dips below 300mb free
Changing minfree values through Rom Toolbox (tried every preset, as well as setting everything to the max to free as much as possible)
Rebooting (affects nothing)
Checked CPU speed with Rom Toolbox (is at max, and does achieve the max speed of 2265 MHz. Setting it to performance mode/setting the min speed to be 2265 MHz has no effect, but reduces battery time)
Changed default cache sizr (tried every preset from 128kb to 4096kb. With multiple benchmarks, the optimal value for r/w bounced between 512kb and 4096kb, currently on 4096)
Things I have not tried (that I am aware would possibly have an affect):
Changing anything in the kernel tweaks/build.prop
Completely wiping, reformatting, and reinstalling (I really would rather avoid this if possible, as it would take a while to get everything back to what it is now, and it was a pain to upgrade to Lollipop in the first place)
I am unaware of anything else I could try to fix it, which is why I'm here
So, does anyone know of any other solutions or things to try? This has made my phone very unreliable, even for phone calls and messages, which is a problem.
Thank you for your time and help!

Hi,
First thing i need you to try out is this custom kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/lp-5-0-2-kernel-3-4-107-dorimanx-1-0-lg-t3102512
Then install greenify, and hibernate all the unnecessary apps.
This should solve the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I'll try out greenify, though there aren't many unnecessary apps running (i uninstalled all the bloatware first thing, when I rooted).
And about the custom kernel, it's something I've never tried, so I have a couple questions.
Will it wipe my device, or break TWRP, root, or Xposed? (Sorry, didn't see the answer on that forum)
Will a TWRP backup I make be able to fully restore my device to it's current condition?
Is everything that is supported on my device be supported with that kernel? (Apps, etc. Don't know a whole lot about how kernels work, so I don't know)
Thank you!

Hi,
Even you uninstalled bloatware, the apps you use daily could be running in background and taking all those rams. So whenever you play a game or dont use a certain app, just go to greenify and hibernate. Since you have xposed installed, you can do more than that such as u can stop sync , etc.
About the kernel, it has a ram management settings and cron task.
Ram management dont need to be altered. It has some preset profile so if you seek performance, just choose performance or if u need battery , select battery profile etc.
Cron task is useful because it will do alot of things automatically. For example, it will release ram at certain amount of time from the apps , it will restart google play service since that could be an issue , etc.
All you need to do is take a nandroid backup just to be safe. Then download Dorimanx Ota from playstore and it will detect ur device and show u which version of kernel is available. Then download that, go to recovery, flash it, and you will see three app installed : Synapse -- will give you all the details of ur setup including cpu speed, temp etc for monitoring purposes
Dorimanx settings - this is the main settings of the kernel. You will see a P icon on top, tap it and choose your desired profile.
Color management : It is as the title says, just leave it be.
Then use your device, check your ram and report back. Hopefully it will resolve your issue.
Wow. Dorimanx did a lot more than I was expecting.
Downloaded the app, downloaded the kernel, flashed it no problem, went through and checked out synapse.
Went into the Dorimanx settings, and set it to the "Performance" profile.
Immediate improvement.
The whole phone seems a lot more snappy, and I switched back and forth between a 1080p60 YT video, facebook, and twitter with absolutely no problem.
Free memory when idle (no apps open) stays around 1gb; it used to be about 500mb before.
Tested a few games for the heck of it, and it actually seems to have improved game performance somehow. (It seems to have overclocked my CPU to 2.5ghz, though, so that makes sense.)
Temps stayed at around 58-60c while running a few Cardboard apps, so it seems fine.
Thanks for the help iubjaved! This has fixed my issue and then some! Ah, the wonders of the Android dev community.

No worries, happy to help. I gave you advice based upon my experience using all those .
Feel free to post in XDA if you need any sort of help, you will find many that will give you insights and stuff to solve your issue.
GL :good:
Greetings to XDA members
I have a issue with my note 3 here is the detail:
Its been while when I started to notice that CPU started to behave strangely you may say how do you know?well I used CPU monitor app and I saw that both CPU load and temperature were rising and falling like this;CPU load:15%
16% 78% %40 100% 3% 4%
CPU Temp: 48 52 53 52 55 53........60 59 61 and then it goes back to 48( these numbers have seen in idle)
I didn't trust these number than I installed stability test 2.7 from play store and ran a classic test after 5 minutes of test passed temp was rised to 80 C!!! Application itself suggested that it should at least takes 15 minutes to significant errors happen(worst case).
So, What should I do? Is it a hardware problem or software? Help!
Post lacks information .
What what what .
Rom Kernel model etc etc .

ROM:Crdroid Unofficial (I'm pretty sure the problem isn't related to ROM)
Kernel:Synergy RC18
Model:N9005
Thanks in advance
Just tell me if you need more information.
Almost forgotten... After installing kernel it seems that CPU load settled down it was less likely to jump more frequently. Unstable temperature still is a issue anyway

tl;dr disable/ignored app using privacy guard, use battery saving app(greenify and amplify), got Xposed then read guide
forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884/amp/
That rom got privacy guard?(setting-privacy-privacy guard)
If YES, go to advance in privacy guard.
In location, device and background, this 3 you need to monitor because almost all app that affect your battery come from here.
Google Play Service is priority, just disable/ignored permission this one first and everything should be fine.
Another possibility is kernel but almost all latest kernel for note 3 is stable now unless you pick kernel for performance.
If you want more battery saving this apps is good:
Greenify
Amplify
If you can install Xposed and knoe about Xposed take a look at this forum:

Thanks man. It really helped. I did all of them except
xposed because xposed isn't available for Nougat yet. Thanks again I apprentice it.
So, XT1575 running LineageOS 14.1, rooted.
As we all know, this model is known for killing the battery after a few years, and I have already done one replacement myself, and that replacement is already starting to misbehave, shutting down randomly or at 10% battery and so on.
So, before replacing it one last time (since I really like the phone), I wanted to try some fine tune via clock frequency and hottplugs with a custom kernel in order to reduce power consumption and heat generation since the stock Clark is like a little fusion reactor.
I downloaded and installed HandBag Kernel 2.3.1, and everything works wonders except for one thing, It apparently wont allow me to change neither governors or frequency's of the two BIG cores, and they just keep going full speed when underclocking the four LITTLE cores, which is an improvement from stock configurations, but it's not what I intended.
I'm using Kernel Adiutor to setup any configuration, and every other option seems to be working perfectly fine.
Any insight would be much appreciated, and I will provide any extra info if needed so.
Thanks in advance!
