Re: [ROM][NIGHTLY] CyanogenMod 9 for Motorola Milestone 2 (Android 4.0.4)
This is kinda sad, that I can't reply directly to the ROM thread, but here it is, I just hope someone will tell them, or see it to adress these problems correctly:
There's a couple of problems with this ROM. First of all it loses the data connection after sometime of inactivity. Browser won't load anything, asking to check the connection. Going to settings -> data usage -> mobile data switch -> turning it off and then on solves the problem, but it's kind of annoying to do that five to six times a day.
Secondly - just after flashing this ROM keyboard backlight was working fine. But after installing the gapps it stopped. Just won't work. ((
Third(ly))) - Apollo app crashes at random when trying to listen to podcast/music from sdcard. Also annoying. Disabling data connection seem to solve the issue tho as it stopped crashing yesterday.
Fourth - some sensor shanannigans when you're trying to use chrome (games are fine with it) while charging. Random zoom-ins and stuff.
Fifth - and most terrifying. Sometimes it loops, as if I was repeatedly taping the screen at the center or somewhere near it. Can't even reboot when it happens. Power button to lockscreen seem to solve the issue.
Otherwise this ROM is smooth and good and I like it a lot. Using it for a few months now.
Big thanks.

The Data connexion loss is a recuring bug for some, mostly people who have a Carrier that use roaming (ie : use another's carrier's network). No known fix for know, but some people seems to have it working "better" by disabling data roaming/national data roaming in options, but it's not for everyone, since some carriers require that to be toggled for data to work.
For the Backlight on the keyboard, be sure to check if the automatic gestion of automatic backlight is activated, it's required for it to work. There is too a "fix" for the problem in the last 5/6 pages of the main topic from memory, but don't recall it exactly, so you'll have to dig to try it.
No idea about Apollo, but it seems to have quite some quirks, and most people use other players so not sure about it, maybe start by checking the Apollo dev's page and market comments to be sure it's not related to Apollo but to the ROM.
The "random sensor shennanigans" while charging is something that happens to a lot of people, i think it's a multi touch bug from the kernel, but not sure (ie : not really solvable by the dev, unless he finds a way to remake tezet's fix (i think it was tezet) or we all use CH kernel since it seems the bug isn't there in this kernel [ wtb a way to use custom kernels :/]).
Your last problem is a weird bug, probably linked to the ROM, but i must admit it'll be hard to pinpoint, since i don't have it but my brother do, while both phones are the exact same model, and flashed the same, in the same order, with the same sbf/rom versions and so on.
I guess you can try to make a full wipe/factory reset (only backuping data you REALLY need to keep like contacts/sms/call log and so on) and redo your phone config, because as far as i know, the only difference between my phone and my brother's is that i had to did that again after i screwed up a couple times, installing an app that was bricking the phone (took me a few wipes to identify it), it might be the reason why i don't have it and he does, or not.
Hallo,
I would like to make a question about a problem I noticed...
I used androits GPS Test to check if my GPS was working correctly after I flashed a new ROM (worshiprom) + Kernel (dorimanx 2.0)!
Just a test of 30 secs or so...
Today, after 12 hours of phone usage i checked the battery status and it tells me that Androits GPS test has the biggest usage of all! Its on 66% percent!
CPU usage just 30 secs.
GPS about 12 hours!
However, the battery last quite enough.. Just a 20% drop with 1h 30mins display and some wifi and data!
Is it just a display bug or is the GPS really on???
Tried a restart now and seems that the GPS usage stopped...
Do i always have to restart after using this application so the GPS truly stops working or am I missing something??
Thank you!
It's a bug with Google maps.

Make a nandroid backup and try flashing back the stock rom or another custom rom and see if the Problem is still existing
The problem is not worth trying a new ROM / Kernel as everything else is working extraordinary!!
Its easier for me to restart it after a GPS use (I don't use GPS apps a lot)
I just wanted to know what causes the bug and if its possible to fix it with any changes in my current setup!
Like reflashing gapps... etc...
Nevermind. Thank you guys for your answers!
If any1 else knows a solution rather than reflashing ROM and Kernel he is welcome to post it, otherwise i will have to live with it
Same problem
Hi,
I have the exact same problem but not with Google maps. Many times, when I enable GPS for a few minutes, and then turn it back off, It keeps running according to the power settings. The only way to switch it off is actually to restart the phone.
Hope we will find a solution. I have CM11 installed and I am pretty happy with it.

ok, i started to get a bit pis**d off by this bug...
i've tried several roms (cloudy3.3, somboons stock, somboons thai food ones) and i still can't trace what is causing this...
here is the situation:
device is in screen off/sleep mode, wi-fi is turned off in sleep (no data is turned on - and that is ok)
when i turn the screen on - wifi turns on after few seconds - that is ok
after a minute or so - wifi turns off by itself, and reconnects again - and it stays on until i turn the screen off...
at first - it didn't bother me much, but it just started to get annoying and it pis**s me off because i can't find the culprit of that bug...
i've tried several things:
- reflashing the roms (clean flash)
- removing xposed mods one by one (i use 3 of them - g3tweaksbox, flat style indicators and xtoast)
- stock and dorimanx kernel
- changing wifi router channel (i'm running dual band router - 5ghz/2.4ghz, it makes no difference on which band i'm connected)
did anyone else notice this bug?
i googled like a MF and the closest thing i've found was connected to nexus devices on lollipop (similar reconnection issues, but worse)
thanks in advance...
I can confirm - having the same situation after switching to Lollipop. At first I thought that switching to 5G wifi solved it, but still the issue remains. Have you tried different kernels?

i've tried stock kernels that came with the roms i flashed and dorimanx on all...
i didn't try xceed (or whatsitcalled) kernel...
i somehow doubt kernel is the culprit of this...
i'm pointing my finger to either xposed framework or some router setting...
only thing i didn't try so far is using the pure stock rom for a few hours without installing xposed or any additional apps i use regulary...
Hi all, I tried everything I found on the Internet.
I thought it was a cable problem, a contact problem.
I opened and closed my Note 3 several times with no luck.
This is what happens: my GPS cannot fix any satellite.
I made a video to show what happens.
Note that it was trying to fix since about 30 minutes.
Whoever is able to help me solving this problem has a free beer as a reward

This is happening on a stock rom?

This has been happening to me for over a year and to people since the note 3 came out. FIrst we tried lifting the antennae prongs, then we rebuilt NV GPS through the service menu... Still nothing.
Now I am trying to install custom roms...
I installed Darklord's note 7 custom rom on my note 3 and the gps is working... but it has happened before that it works for a few days or a week and then dies again.

Tried everything then nothing much left .
As GPS is a function of kernel have you swapped kernels .
Did you use GPS Fix to wipe and redownload AGPS data .
What model is it .

Buddy you know what... I just installed Purify custom rom. It's a very slightly modified version of Cyanogen MOd... and for now... I've never had my gps fix so fast. It's also a VERY fast and battery saving mod.
Try it! PM me if you need help with it.

Thx, but it is my wife's phone.
I prefer not having GPS, but using a stable and tested rom.
In caso I decide to mod, I'll consider this ROM.
Thx for the help
I found a thread on Reddit that fixed my GPS once, then a thread here that fixed it better the 2nd time. It has to do with pulling the back off and bending the tabs that connect to the GPS antenna on the rear. These threads tell and show all. Follow these and GPS issues should be resolved.

I am having the same issues on my Samsung Note 3 sm-n9005. Accelerometer, proximity sensor, barometer, light sensor, gyroscope sensor and magnetic sensor. All dead now.
I am on Android 6 MM. Using custom ROM DarkWolf. Before flashing custom ROM (stock 5.0) no issues (only issues I having was always constantly "Searching for GPS..." on each time reboot). I also try reflash the ROM and tried another custom ROM Phronesis ROM, no luck. I haven't try flash CM yet. Some mention because of Android version upgrade like lollipop to marshmallow will cause this issues. Currently I unsure is software or hardware cause it. Also, it might cause by motherboard. I really have no idea.

What about modem firmware, does it cause on those issues? If reflash the modem will it be solve?

Try installing Purify custom rom. It solved all my issues at least for the past week. I think the gps is controlled by the kernel not the modem. I'm using purify rom with purify 1.1 kernel. A new GPS fix posted in Android Development .
Sent from my SM-N920C using XDA-Developers mobile app
note3 for indoor with apgs. In the beginning, I think it's GPS issue leading me can't play Pokemon. But indoor, we can only have agps, so I try to look at the setting and see if this works for you
1. Use faster GPS to change the NTP server by select continent and region you are in.
2. In faster GPS, go to advance to change setting. Change value of intermediate_post to 0. This one is important and I find it helps to lock my location by agps in a second. otherwise, location is found with 4km error
3. Use GPS status app to reset and download the agps data. This make the error distance even shorter
4. Of course,restart and enjoy
I do this and I can lock my location even indoor with a second. Hope it works for you. I try this out by myself and hope this helps you
Cheers

When on data, have wifi activated even if you are not on a network. It helps.
HI everybody,
Is there a way to permanently disable scanning always avaliable in the wifi settings?
I know that when on it consume a lot of battery and therefore I want it to always be off but for some reason, everytime that I restart my device, it turn itself back on.
Is there a mode or an app that can take care of that?
Thanks in advacne

I'm sure it's not a rom problem since it's been off when I was using 10.8 and prior versions and even on 10.9 it's off.
