Hello community,
My question is about the BL File/Slot in Odin.
What does it do? What does it have? Is it related to the Boot-Animation such as T-Mobile/AT&T/Sprint boot-loading screen?
What I am trying to do is to flash T-Mobile's Official Latest Stock APK1 BUT I would like to do it WITHOUT THE T-MOBILE's loading screen such as the SM-G935U boot screen....
If I flash TMO APK1 AP/CP/CSC with SM-G935U API3 BL work?
I appreciate any advice given..
Thanks

The BL slot is ONLY the locked bootloader that controls the device booting up and nothing to do with the boot animation, which is in the RP (the AP slot). DO NOT mess with it if you don't know what you are messing with.
The boot animation is in the /system partition, which you can't get to directly unless you are rooted.

Its not necessary to flash stock, simply reflashing the engboot will suffice, and does not wipe the device.
First of all you wanted to Flash SuperSu.... Did you enable Android Debugging.... Then check OEM Unlock?
If not you messed up there...
Next You need use Odin to flash CF-Root. You are now running a patched Kernel and SuperSU
Use TWRP app to install twrp for your device.
i have the same exact problem, been trying to flash stock firmware but cant get it to work. help please!!!! which firmware? can i get a link please!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, having same issue. Didn't realize you can only make backups with flashfire, not actually flash them back with the program too...
I have the original files I installed with Odin, are one of these the engineering boot file? (BL, AP, CP, CSC?)
Or are you talking about something else...? Thanks!

You flash the engboot file you used to root the device, the one you placed in AP and is around 20 mb in size (not the actual firmware) .

Hi,
I tried to flash a stock firmware today using odin, however it failed. On my phone it says custom boot binary blocked by fap lock, but i am flashing stock firmware only. I have never rooted or unlocked the bootloader. Now my phone is stuck in the downloading mode. How do i fix this or successfully flash?
Regards,
I tried everything, now i get a secure lock error?
To recap, i have a g935w08 and i was trying to flash the BTU firmware (G935F) which i downloaded from samfirm, i used all the BL, AP, CP, CSC (used regular CSC) and it refuses to work. I am using odin 3.12.
Who can help me with this?
Try odin 3.11.1 as it says on the download page, failing that, try and flash your original firmware.
Instructions at the bottom of this download page: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/116121/G935FXXU1BPLB_G935FBTU1BPK3_BTU/
I gave up. Could it be due to the fact that i am trying to flash a G935F firmware onto G935W?
yes that's very possible, in your post above you said you have a G935F ?
"To recap, i have a g935F and i was trying to flash the BTU firmware"
@Seanie280672 I have updated it now. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Hi guys, to my understanding BL/CP are available in tar or zip formats and may be updated via Odin or Twrp respectively. Appreciate any advice as to differences (if any) between the two methods. TIA
The only difference is that one (.zip) can be flashed via TWRP (this would mean you have a custom rom and a tripped Knox counter). The other (.tar) is signed by Samsung and can be flashed via Odin without tripping Knox.

I reckon this probably means it doesn't matter to flash with twrp or odin if knox is already 0x1.

Correct. I find it easier to flash in TWRP because it's simpler to stay where I am and download the file, reboot to recovery and flash. Rather than going upstairs to my computer, downloading the file, putting phone in Download mode, opening Odin and loading the files, then connecting the phone to the computer then flashing the files.

True that. I only ever return to Odin to flash official firmware in the event of soft bricks with denied access to Twrp, however, was getting confused partly due to written instructions for roms requiring BL/CP to be flashed in download mode. Thanks for clearing this up. Cheers.
my current booloader is version 1...can anybody tell me how can update it to version 4? i am using s7 edge SC02H(snapdragon) japan.
thanks
Looking for the right modem and bootloader files
Hello,
I'm running Nougat on my s7 g930f it's using the tgp rom. In preparation for an oreo upgrade I atempted to flash an odin-zip file I found on LightRom's page, thinking it would give me a modem update. This was an extremely bad idea. Now my system does still boot, but I have no signal at all, my phone number, base band, IMEI, mobile network, etc all show as unknown under settings, about phone and the various status checks. Now when I atempt to go in to odin again to flash another modem update now I'm told that the atempt has failed. I'd appreciate some help. What file do I need to get the bl and the cp file? I'm running twrp 3.2.3, and i'd like my signal back.
Thanks.
Dave.
i was on pb1 unlock boot loader try to upgrade to pf4 by doing that
stuck on verizon screen trying to go back into stock pb1 but stuck on
verizon splash screen. i have try all pit file plus pb1 stock tar but all in vain.please help
on startup screen Custom is displayed although i have flashed PB1 Stock
Issue resolved.please close this thread.if anyone want to know do ask
So, I'm trying to flash everything back to stock before I send this phone back to Samsung for Trade in deal.
I unlocked the bootloader using this guide here https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
Using this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880 I tried flashing back to stock using OC4 Stock retail tar.
Unfortunately, I am getting an error on download mode when running in ODIN MODE.
SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1
Not sure how to continue from here, tried searching but couldn't seem to find anything.
The guide said I should backup up the loader before flashing or I could be stuck with a locked bootloader, this is what I want though. I would like the phone to appear stock before I return to Samsung.
Would appreciate some assistance. Thanks in advance.
UPDATE:
Well, I feel pretty silly. I solved my issue. Apparently you can't flash the boot loader if you are on a higher version number and you are trying to flash an older bootloader. I was able to find a newer tar file from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/update-qh2-t3672387
I was doing more searching and found the solution to my problem from a Note 3 thread.
Thanks again XDA.
Try a more up-to-date tar, BOK3 at least. Or newer.

LoL, yeah, just figured that out.
Thanks for the response though man, I appreciate it.
Although, If you may, is there a way to remove the padlock icon (make it look locked again) from the boot screen?
I'm assuming I must of used a rooted retail rom?
Yes, you need to flash a factory firmware with pit-file. Or something.
Have you got a newer tar?

I'm using this tar

Can I use this pit?

Thanks again.
Unzip and flash this after flashing that new tar:
https://mega.nz/#!O81HAKwJ!GWPEcA7zUtFIhWJHVF5XLO-Iwhrvy1pbL0cJRqxxm-o
The padlock never gets locked , it simply disappears.
It may disappear after the second reboot.

Hmm, okay.
So, first I flashed my pit file I linked earlier, with the tar.
Then I flashed your file after unzipping. (put in odin ap box)
Did a factory wipe, padlock still appearing there.
At Verizon splash screen, its been sitting there quite a while.
Padlock still on splash screen. Will wait a bit and see if it boots into android and reboot again to see if the padlock is gone.

Okay, finally got to the "Android is starting"
"Optimizing apps"
Finally got rid of the padlock.
Thank you so much for your help.
Its more appreciated than you think.
