Hi! Is LG v20 Daydream compatible? Thank you very much!
App says it is incompatible with all of my devices. There's been speculation that Daydream VR will have certain hardware requirements that the V20 is not built to. If you want to know what those specs are, look at the Pixel.
Ok, thanks for your reply. I have read AMOLED screen is needed and v20 has IPS screen, but then I don't understand why Huawei Mate 9 is sold as a Daydream compatible device and it has an IPS screen too and lower resolution than V20...
From what I've heard, the preference on specs is partially based around the prospect of keeping the production of heat down. Start working that processor and battery plus sealing it all up inside of a fabric box and that could cause some issues.

If that's the case why isn't v20 included? Mine doesn't get very warm and dissipates the heat it does accumulate very well.
You cam manually install Google VR services, Daydream, and the VR apps from apkmirror without issue on the V20. So technically you can make it at least run. Waiting for my Daydream to come in to see how well it actually works.

Only the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design edition is daydream compatible. It has a 5.5" 1440p AMOLED. Costs $1400 but yea.

Hi! I've found this thread and there are some v20 users trying to install Daydream (look at comments): https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/co...p_incompatible_with_your_device/?compact=true
Have you tried to install Daydream software and VR services via apkmirror at v20 with no problem? Is software working ok for you?
Thanks again, my friend.
There is a Qualcomm VR SDK that DayDream requires. That SDK is only supported with the additional hardware features of the 821. I would not expect DayDream to be compatible anytime soon, if ever.

that doesn't seem right since the axon 7 has an SD820 and it was billed as the first non google daydream compatible phone.

So just got it in and am completely unable to make it work. The daydream app runs but crashes as soon as you try and put it into VR mode. Attempted all the settings, including the daydream developer settings to no avail. I'm able to sync the remote to my phone, but it has no functionality. And all cardboard apps work though.
Open to any suggestions to make this thing work. Although my posting wont have the speediest responses.

Thanks for trying it out. Anyone have any suggestions or has anyone figured it out? Maybe we have to get the update to 7.1 before it will work?

DayDream would look like **** on an IPS display. You need AMOLED for the better contrast, true blacks, and low persistence/instantaneous pixel response.
hello, i am trying to run the daydream vr kit on another phone lg G3
but i have got an incompatible phone error message
i tried to modify build.prop, but it's not enough
if they are realy using qualcom sdk, then you need a 64b cpu

Just a quick update on the Xiaomi Mipad. It has more bugs than I've encountered in any other android device! Some quick observations:
No EXFAT support for microsd cards, it can use NTFS though.
When connecting on the USB2 cable it cannot write or make changes to the external SD card.
Google services and play store can be installed without root access, just use the Xiaomi marketplace, search for google and you will find a google installer that gets the main play store up and running.
Battery life seems hit n miss with wildly inaccurate readings so the device will turn off when there is still plenty power in the battery. Turning it right back on again shows more than 30% power left.
It has some kind of draconic security from Xiaomi that monitors what apks you install even if you sideload apps and will block installations. I tried to install the flash player from UC Browser and it refused and pointed me to the official version from Adobe which is not supported by UC browser.
The physical shape is almost the same as the iPad mini so you can use screen protectors or cases which fit the iPad mini.
No MHL it supports WIDI similar to Intel products for TV out.
The music app is a fail, it only shows All songs/Artists, no other sorting eg albums.
It seems to be quite speedy and I didn't see any stutters in the GUI.
802.11ac 2x2 is supported so upto 866Mbps speeds.
USB OTG is supported out of the box.
Can't find any way to root it right now.
Feel free to chip in if you can find any solutions to these bugs I found. Or if anyone can get it to hardware accelerate Hi10p h264.

Kantara, it looks like a battlefield... but let me say congratulations! Mine is still not arrived but can you kindly do some screenshots? What's about the display? Anyway the K1 is a powerful platform we have only to wait and trust in nVidia as for sure the community is Snapdragon oriented.
I am wondering about only 1 thing- what about the Heat when using @ maximum performance under heavy load?
I just got Tablet with Tegra4 and I can get burn from the tablet (60C+), Nvidia chips are always Hot .

It's charging right now, what screenshots do you want me to include? From memory the screen looks like the one one from the iPad mini, viewing angles are good. Auto brightness is not well calibrated though. K1 is nice on paper but unless more designs use it then Nvidia will just ignore us like they did with the first 4 Tegras.

LOL I agree, if I had to review it as a member of the press I'd cry! Seriously though the screen is likely the same as the iPad mini, I see the same muddy reds when compared to my HTC M8. I'll try and get some benchmarks on Antutu tmw when it's charged up. Video playback is a hit n miss right now as MXplayer crashes 50% of the time when I start a video. From my brief time on it when it worked it was just as fluid as the S801 on the HTC M8 or the Galaxy S5 using HW or HW+.

Sure you can. The apps will launch normally by selecting "launch" from the voice menu and scrolling to the App. We tried to run towelroot on it (but it failed to root the watch, as expected). The biggest issues are;
No Keyboards - If the app requires text entry, you are screwed
No all apps will scale to the smaller screen

And the cpu might encounter difficulties and the screen is too small to actually make sense for many apps and you don't have internet and so on and so forth.. Yes you can install them, but what's the point? Name me an app which makes sense on the watch right now, one that isn't supposed to be installed on the watch..

Actually dont bash the CPU, it is the Snapdragon 400 (Quad Core) and all cores are indeed active. The Snapdragon 400 is being put in several mid-range phones like the Moto G, LG G2 Mini, Sony Xperia M2, Asus PadFone mini 4.3, Asus PadFone E,Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 3G, and a few more. It is no slouch (although a Snapdragon 800/801 will blow it away). With this said, due to the battery, it makes more sense to run the core application on your phone or you will quickly have a drained watch.
I cant disagree with the small screen, most applications that are currently written were not optimized for a screen that small.
Applications can indeed request internet access, nothing special but the phone needs to be in range. I personally see little use for this as it would likely cause a bit of battery strain.

Personally, I would have to vote for applications such as;
Home Automation Applications (WeMo Triggers/etc)
Authentication Applications (Google Authenticator/OTP Generators/Bank Applications)
Approve/Decline Tools (Technically Authentication)
Tasker Triggers
All of these applications have one thing in common. They do not require a lot of input by the user. Most of these are one or 2 buttons or a short string of numbers.

Yes it has the snapdragon 400 inside with all the 4 cores, but it has been limited to save battery.
About the apps: I don't think any of the home automation applications work as standalone apps on the watch. They are all installed on the phone and then push their watch companion over to the wear device. At least as far as I know. Same goes for tasker. Can't say anything about the other 2 as I don't use that.

I just got an 8GB/1GB model Moto G XT-1540from BestBuy, it looks like the ones from Motorola directly take time to come in, and this was an instant way to test and compare the Moto G. So far these are things I noticed.
1) The haptic feedback makes the phone sound like something is shaking inside, which feels a bit cheap. This may be a bad early production model.
2) There is no notification light though androidpit did show a picture of one. Not sure where they got their pic since it does seem to be a moto g 3rd gen in their pics.
3) There is no gryoscope, pressure sensor, or temperature sensor in the phone. It does have a magnetic sensor.
4) The back plate around the camera accent seems to have a small gap on one side even thought everything is clicked in, it may not be waterproof due to this, or maybe it's just variation in manufacturing, but it does worry me a bit.
5) The camera does have a 720p slo-mo option
6) It seems to open things faster than my Galaxy s4, which really surprised me, but is definitely nice to see.
7) There's no really good way to display battery percentage. Moto didn't build an option in, and the lollipop built in option needs to be enabled by an app and results in a very small percentage in the battery icon itself which is hardly legible. As roms and root and custom options come out, I suspect there will be ways to fix this, but in the meantime it's kind of stinky.
8) It has an FM radio. The app requires headphones to be plugged in as it uses them as the antenna, but it seems to work pretty well. I don't really care about this feature too much, but I know some people do.
I still haven't put it through anything too taxing, but if anyone wants to know if it can run any particular games ok or anything feel free to ask, or if there's any features you're curious about.
EDIT: Also I wanted to note one more thing that really blew me away. This phone has the same storage, ram, and a higher resolution screen compared to the LG Leon, which is a cheap T-mobile branded phone. I bought one of them about a month ago to test, and despite a lower res screen and the same general specs, it was laggy, annoying, and the low res screen was a huge nuisance as so little could fit on it. Compared to that phone the Moto G runs buttery smooth and goes a great job, it really is fairly comparable to my Galaxy S4 and seems to load things quicker, though it does also seem to have priority on wifi which means it gets all the bandwidth while the S4 is struggling to get its share, which may partly account for that.

The USB OTG Checker app says the phone has the API. I don't have anything I can plug into the phone to test that for signal though. Hope this helps even if just a bit. If there's a way to test actual functionality without a female usb a to male micro usb b, let me know. I do have a wireless keyboard but without a cable like that, I don't think there's a way for me to test the functionality.
There is USB-OTG support.

Me too, gyroscope is way more useful than Radio, I'd rather have a notification light too though, it costs next to nothing and is so useful. Moto display isn't nearly as functional.
It's pretty sad that it doesn't have a gyroscope, last years model did have one.
Gotta disagree, I love the FM radio and am glad Motorola still includes it. It's a bummer about the gyroscope, but I never used it. I'm much more disappointed by the lack of a notification LED and being forced to use Moto Display.
Speaking of which, does the Moto Display show music player controls on the lockscreen? I use Poweramp and I'm wondering if I would be able to pause/play/rewind/skip on the lockscreen without having to input a PIN or do extra actions just to get to the music controls.

No it does not. I just put poweramp on my phone and when I flip the phone up to turn on moto display it only shows the time and the unlock option because I have no notifications at the moment. If I use the power button to turn on the screen I can see the skip and play/pause options for poweramp though, so there is that. Hope that helps.

Thanks for answering. So Moto Display doesn't show the Poweramp controls even though it has a persistent notification? That's a real bummer since Google Play Music apparently has Moto Display controls. I guess it's not a huge loss since you'd have to press the power button on every other phone to get to the lockscreen controls anyway.

It has multiple accelerometers for orientation, but no gyroscope. I tested with a sensor tester yesterday and noted it in my main post. Just installed z device test and found the same, there is no gyroscope.

No it doesn't have panorama function, and by multiple accelerometers I mean I think it has the standard number of axes other phones do for accelerometers, but it works on more than just x and y, though maybe I'm wrong there.

No, the phone does have panorama support with the Motorola camera app. Even the 2015 Moto E has panorama support. The purpose of the dual accelerometers is for the gestures and panorama functionality. They emulate some of a gyroscope's functionality using two accelerometers.
Sorry, it supports panorama, what it doesn't support is photosphere.
Does the Moto G have the active display like the moto x? I mean can I just wave my hand over the phone and it will light up with notifications and such without touching the phone...

Emulating a gyroscope with the dual accelerometers and magnetometer would be an interesting but challenging task. I'll be busy for the next couple weeks, but I could look into creating a kernel module that does this when I get time. Obviously, it wouldn't be perfect, since we'd be fudging the data of a sensor that isn't actually there, but it should be possible to create a good enough imitation for photo sphere to work.
Hi everyone,
I am using the Gear VR with my phone but for sure it lacks some features. As I see the google daydream is much interesting and I would love to try it/have the headset when iz comes out. What worries me now is if our devices (Exynos) will be supported for the daydream.
What are your toughts on this, do you think we will be able to use it?
Recently I tried out the DJI osmo mobile. Ultimately it was not compatible with my Google pixel phone. They seem to mostly be compatible with iPhones and just about every Samsung phone there is. I really like the device and how it operates, I saw it operating and working on my friends iPhone and it was great. I'm wondering if anybody knows of a really good handheld stabilizer and a decent price right around the $300 Mark or less period question mark

I've been interesting in the Osmo Mobile as well. I'm curious, what exactly do you mean by not compatible? Are you referring to the hardware or the app?
Well I just tried the osmo mobile. Basically I got everything running correctly on the osmo mobile and I connected my Google pixel via Bluetooth to the osmo mobile. But I mean that it's not fully compatible is that it won't use all the functions. So they handhold controls of the osmo mobile wouldn't work with the pixel but some of the features would. Like facial recognition and taking photos etcetera. Then it would just flip out and start looking for a different osmo stick that I'm not familiar with. When I reached out to the DJI support team they said it's because my phone is not fully compatible. So I don't know if it's a hardware or a software issue all I know is that it's not compatible.
I just bought one too. I can confirm that every android phone can be paired with the Osmo Mobile, and use at least part of its functions.
The compatibility issues are software side, on the Dji go application, and are due, according to Dji support, to "the multitude of hardware on android phones".
For exemple, Dji Go support 4k vidéos on most of the samsung phones, but not on my LG G5.
I've got a Zeeq smart pillow (built in speakers and vibrates when I snore, both for the wife's benefit) and they had a hell of a time with bugs related to the Pixel's Bluetooth implementation. I wonder if that's the case here as well.
Well this one isn't exactly out yet, and personally not a huge fan of Kickstarter items myself, but when it does come out it looks promising. I'm personally still contemplating if I should wait or take the leap... https://www.kickstarter.com/project...icam-volt-smartphone-stabilizer-shake-free-vi
The video they have on the kickstarter is actually worse than the one from someone testing it at CES. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu9OrIrNHQM
