Cross-posted this to the android apps forum the other day, but hoping for more response here..
A feature from the Note 7 series that has yet to make it to the regular S7 or S7 edge is the agenda view for your calendar on the always on display. However, there is now an option for a custom picture to be set as your always on image.
Is it possible for an app or tasker set of actions to:
1. create a jpg of your days' agenda / update jpg of agenda each time the calendar changes.
2. Set AOD image to jpg
The agenda view didn't get pushed in the latest AOD updates, and who knows when AOD will have full note 7 functionality...

The Calendar Widget on my tablet isn't changing to reflect the day of the week.
The main time and date one updates properly but the widget doesn't - a removal and replacement on the home page fixes for the day but next day same thing.
I have looked everywhere for a setting I have missed but can't see anything.
Can anyone shed some light on this and or suggest a better calandar widget that will update as required. i don't need anything too complex just something to keep track of a few appointments etc./
thanks
Are you using the regular calendar widget that is installed by default?
Yes, I am.
Sorry, I should have made that clearer in my question.
hi guys,
whenever i try to add the google calendar widget to a screen the box just displays todays date and then an empty white space below it. I can't work out how to make the widget display the agenda for the coming month. can't see anything in options how to do it.
sorry if i am being dumb.
cheers

Is there an option in the calendar app itself? Have a look through the settings and I am sure there is a setting you can change for how far ahead the app looks (i.e. one day, week, month, etc.). Sorry I can't direct you more accurately. My Nexus is currently charging (whilst off so I can charge it quicker before I head out).
Hi all thought i would start the ball rolling with this so hopefully some might look at development.
yota not releasing the phone in usa has in my opinion stopped a lot of development happening for the e-ink display.
yota themselves appear? not to be coming up with anything useful for the screen too --- guess its concentrating on the yota3 (dont think i will be purchasing)
i bought the phone because of its e-ink screen and i would like to see :-
a widget that has a countdown to a google calendar date in days / hours (minutes but not necessary) which updates on a daily / hour basis
anyone else have any wishes?
come on people add some wishes / requests please. might be only way to get more apps???
an refresh e-ink / back screen app / shortcut / widget would be nice for usable on both screens? -(a lot of times my e-ink display gets messed up)
Is that possible the e-ink screen support spotify?
a Facebook message stream would be cool too
I would like to have an improved communication bar allowing me to select which SMS and Email apps are used. I would prefer Facebook Messanger as SMS app and Outlook for Emails.
I would also like to see an app-launcher widget for 4 apps in a row (without name underneath).
I would love an app that did:
1. Turn the front screen off and just have everything running in mirror mode on the back screeen.
2. Had quick toggle on the volume key for fast monochrome and slow greyscale mode.
3. Work with both android 4 and 5.
What about a panel that just shows one twitter tag or user?
I'd like a widget for the e-ink panel that mimics the notification panel that drops down in the main screen. ie, all notifications with preview as is shown normally in drop down.
BTW, is there any place where I could found info on how to program apps for the e-ink screen?

Pretty much the only source for building apps for the back screen is Yota's developer page:
https://yotaphone.com/developer/docs/develop/building-first-app-epd/
I also listed some tips in my post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/yotaphone-one/development/widget-yota-toolbelt-t3145462
native app whtsapp for epd screen like telegram.

waze native epd screen too!!
I'd find usefull a cover (to be seen with the phone off) that shows the battery charge + a widget to call ICE numbers even with the phone locked (as I had on my samsung S4mini)
it would be nice to have the News/RSS Reader in a listed version so that you can see many headlines of the news on the EPD screen.
And it must be configurable, so that you can select a specific RSS or all of them to show.
At the moment you can only see one headline and you can't choose which source it should show. It shows just one of the recent from all of the RSS sources you have.
In the YotaSports App you also can't select any special league or competitions. There are predefined matches which you can select from.
It'd be better you had a choice to select national leagues and games seperately in an overview.
Android 7.0 introduces Gmail notifications on the AOD (and many other notifications missing in Android 6.0.1), which is really great, but I am noticing an issue.
When I've received a Gmail notification and have clicked on (either) the message icon on the AOD, clicked on the notification on the notification shade or opened it directly in the Gmail app, the notification icon on the AOD and on the notification bar isn't removed immediately afterwards (as expected). In Android 6.0.1, the notification icon on the notification bar was removed instantaneously.
Can anyone replicate this issue?
On Android 6 notifications icon of Gmail persist even if you read or delete email, in nougat in my case icon disappeared right after opening email.. Double click on aod notification open application - that's feature, no issue

I disagree, or I'm seeing different functionality on my device. On Android 6(.0.1), the notification icon disappeared right after opening email (in Gmail app). On Android 7(.0), it does not.
That's strange, on my note 5 with Android 6 icon won't disappear from panel unless I remove it, in nougat, when open email, icon is gone... Strange

This forum/thread discusses subjects related to Galaxy S7 Edge, not the Note 5. Perhaps you should consider expressing your thoughts about the Note 5 in the Note 5 forum...?
i have similar issue as well. the notification is remove around 1 sec after i read the mail or after i close gmail. last time it goes immediately after opening gmail. not bothering me that much though.

Having galaxy s7 edge now.. I did mention note just for comparing android 6 with Android 7
Hi everyone, hoping someone here can help. On my S7 Edge running 7.0, the AOD display had the option to display the clock, date, battery percentage, and any calendar appointments I had for the day. On my new S8, I can get all that to display with AOD, except for the calendar appointments. There doesn't seem to be any sort of option to get calendar information onto the AOD. Clicking on the "content to show" option provides no option to select calendar information. no matter which "clock style" I select (even the one labeled "calendar"). Not sure why Samsung would seemingly give the S7 Edge more AOD options and not do the same for the S8. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Looking for same answer! Any late breaking updates to this riddle?
This is the one feature I relied on the most with my S7 Edge. Why would they take away a feature like that? The whole idea of the AOD is to provide value to looking at the screen.
You can partially and awkwardly achieve some of that functionality by adding "Today's schedule" under facewidgets. But to see it on AOD you'll need to first double-tap the clock, then swipe and then you have 5 sec to comprehend what's on the screen because it quickly changes to clock again.
