Android 7.0 introduces Gmail notifications on the AOD (and many other notifications missing in Android 6.0.1), which is really great, but I am noticing an issue.
When I've received a Gmail notification and have clicked on (either) the message icon on the AOD, clicked on the notification on the notification shade or opened it directly in the Gmail app, the notification icon on the AOD and on the notification bar isn't removed immediately afterwards (as expected). In Android 6.0.1, the notification icon on the notification bar was removed instantaneously.
Can anyone replicate this issue?
On Android 6 notifications icon of Gmail persist even if you read or delete email, in nougat in my case icon disappeared right after opening email.. Double click on aod notification open application - that's feature, no issue

I disagree, or I'm seeing different functionality on my device. On Android 6(.0.1), the notification icon disappeared right after opening email (in Gmail app). On Android 7(.0), it does not.
That's strange, on my note 5 with Android 6 icon won't disappear from panel unless I remove it, in nougat, when open email, icon is gone... Strange

This forum/thread discusses subjects related to Galaxy S7 Edge, not the Note 5. Perhaps you should consider expressing your thoughts about the Note 5 in the Note 5 forum...?
i have similar issue as well. the notification is remove around 1 sec after i read the mail or after i close gmail. last time it goes immediately after opening gmail. not bothering me that much though.

For those of us who use Textra as our SMS app, please go into the settings menu> support> contact us and request that they make an edge panel with the same functionality as the floating notification. I have requested this feature and they are open to it but are unsure if there are enough Edge owners using Textra. It would be the only SMS app to show the actual text as opposed to just the notification icon.
+1
Added request.
Done
Not a textra user but looked them up on Google play and requested the feature too. Told if was addedi would their app.
Done sent them a request, they even replied back to asking me for a screen shot showing where exactly I would like the preview to come. So sent them the screen shot and they have acknowledged with "Thanks" ... now lets wait and watch
Not trying to troll but both the stock and go show the notification on the side
In fact i don't get any verbage at the top anymore. Every program has transferred to the side

I jump between textra and evolvesms. Last week textra had an overlay on top of the main screen. I immediately uninstalled it because thats what the edge is for. If they are open to suggestions I will request that feature as well now that I know.

I like having a "dark" or "black" skin for messaging. Stock can't do that to my knowledge.
I tried GoSMS back on my note 2 but seemed like a lot of bloat. Textra was simple, straight to the point, and customized just enough for my liking.
Maybe I'll give GoSMS a try again?
Just submitted a request for this as well. :good:
Agreed and done.
Guys
I think our request has been done, there was a update to Textra yesterday on my phone, updated through playstore and now i can see the message text on my Edge screen when a new message comes

You can see it for just a second and that's it? right? same as GoSMS? no function inside the edge screen or anything unique?

I see the complete message when it comes if its big message the text moves line after line and if I click on it that takes me to the message in textra.
Yes the message text does not stay on the screen for a long time but its comes as soon as a message is received and shows the text line after line and then goes ...
I had also requested Textra team to add unread notification count on their icon to show up which I think would be kool to see on the edge screen

Got it... out of thanks for the day... but thank you for replying... So, basically the same as GoSMS... If they ever do the unread notification icon to show on the Edge Screen, that will definitely make me move to Textra... I was looking at the sceenshots from Textra from Google Play... and it looks almost identical to GoSMS... lol... (the developers are copying each other, lol)
My Bad guys ..
I have tested the textra messaging app now on Nova Launcher & on Toch Wiz .
On both the message preview is still coming as a floating window on the main screen and not on the edge screen at all ...
But the unread notification count is now showing up correctly on the edge dock on textra icon

I made good on my promise to switch once they abopted edge notifications. I also read you have to turn off the floating notification. I didnt have to for mine to work but I did anyways. Works great, just wish there was a call button like on the stock application on the same screen. Its there but a couple clicks away.

Mine wouldn't work without turning off floating notifications.
Does it work if the phone is locked for you guys? Only my express me panel lights up. No message preview.

Yeah mine does. But it shows as soon as it comes in and only gives you like 5 seconds, if that. But that's the same as the stock app. I'm under the impression the factory settings are the main road block to getting the edge panel to behave the way we want. Maybe the guys who have rooted could let us know if this is the case. I gotta play straight on this phone so i won't be rooting anytime soon. I'm hoping maybe a modified nova launcher might get released for the edge. I've used nova on all my Galaxy's and am sure they could get this edge panel sorted out.
Hi,
I have noticed that for some reason my S7 edge will show multiple notification icons for the same app on the top status bar. One example of this is TV Show Favs, on my sony Z2 with lollipop there would only be 1 notification icon shown even if I had multiple notifications for upcoming shows. The S7 edge shows multiple icons for each notification on status bar which can lead to things getting very cluttered when Daredevil season 2 is listed for example.
Anyone have any ideas on how to make sure it combines icons?
Nobody got any ideas at all?
I have a Nexus 7 2013 that is on latest MM build & it doesn't show multiple notification icons & my Sony Z2 on LP doesn't either. There must be some way to make it combine notification icons from the same app.
Here is a screenshot to show what I mean. You can see there are 3 tv show favs icons in status bar.
I don't use that app, but I haven't seen this behavior with any app on my Edge.
Cheers for the reply, I noticed that the play store did the same & showed multiple notification icons when I did factory reset after getting nano sim but haven't seen it do it since. Will email the dev of tv show favs & see if he can fix it if it a app problem.

I've had this as well, noticed it mainly with Play store app updates, Galaxy app store updates, and Whatsapp. Might happen with other apps as well, those are the only ones I tend to get multiple notifications from. Think it may have happened on my HTC M8 running Marshmallow as well...

I'm pretty sure it's a "feature" to allow multiple instances of an apps notification to be separate and displayed simultaneously. But if I recall correctly it was also this way on my g4 running M as well as my s6e on L. Slightly annoying at times but nothing worth making me return the phone for.

Yeah it weird that it only seems to happen with some apps, the day daredevil season 2 was available on netflix the whole status bar was filled with icons. My lollipop sony Z2 doesn't do it & neither does my marshmallow nexus 7 2013. I did email the dev of Tv Show Favs a couple of days ago but not heard anything back as yet.

It's mostly just annoying as the status bar can be filled up with the icons. I wouldn't return the phone for that as it a damn good phone. I've not had a galaxy device since the S3 so thought it might just be the weird way that samsung likes to do things at times.
Still not getting all my notifications to appear on AOD. I've only seen texts, missed call, and weirdly and Imgur notification on there. No Gmail, Snapchat, or Google Voice. I thought this was updated like the Note 7 to show every notification icon in AOD now. Are there some settings I'm missing? Or is there a better alternative to the native AOD?

It works for me. Shows notifications for every app and I didn't change any settings. Did you simply take an OTA or did you do a clean update?

Just took the OTA and kept on goin. I'm also getting double text notifications sometimes too which is weird. You say you get all icons when you get a noti? Even Snapchat, Gmail, and Hangouts?

Yes, I remember getting them with all, except hangouts because I don't use it. I actually turned the AOD off because I was getting battery drain since nougat, but that didn't help

Make sure in Settings - Notifications, you have the apps turn ON that you want to get notifications for.
I have noticed in the 2 factory resets I've done since the Android 7.0 update, Notification access is defaulted OFF for Always On Display. To check this, make sure AOD is turned on first, then go into Settings - Lock screen and security - Other security settings - Notification access to make sure AOD is set to ON.

I was actually able to figure it out last night. I had some wonky settings in Settings > Lock Screen & Security > Notifications on Lock Screen. Had a lot of random apps with notifications on like Barcode Scanner, a Ruler app, and Rear-Facing Camera. But apps that you would expect to get notifications from like Gmail, Sanpchat, and Hangouts were un-checked. Kind of a misleading name for these toggles as they are not controlling whats on the lock screen, but on the off screen.
I don't recall seeing this on my Note9 running Pie, but with my S10+, when the battery is full, a second battery icon is pushed (left side next to the time) when the phone is plugged in and battery at 100%. According to the notification details, it is System UI / Battery Full. Unfortunately I cannot disable any of the System UI notifications.
Any workaround?
Update: System UI on the Note9 doesn't have a "battery full" trigger, hence why I've never seen it. Definitely something introduced on the S10.

It's not new to the S10, my S8+ had it. Unplug the phone at 100% if it really bothers you that much.
Long press the notification and select "details". Or, just go to settings/notifications/see all - Select "all" in the dropdown, select system apps in the overflow menu and scroll down to System UI and disable the notification for Battery Full. Obviously, the first method is faster

Battery full, infact all of the System UI notifications are force enabled. Even silent and minimised it shows on the notification bar.

Well that's ****ty. I didn't even notice that they were greyed out.
there is an app, autonotification. you can use it hide persistent notifications. I used it to hide some Gear Wearable notifications, works great.

Yep; however, even on Pixels, not all of them are able to be disabled.
basically it's effed up that the guru's (used liberally) think that the average phone owner shouldn't be allowed to turn off any effing notification we want. I have a galaxy S9+ and if my phone is plugged in at night, and I don't mute notifications, there is no way to stop the annoying battery full notification. It's grayed out, along with all others except for "screenshits" and "app icon badges" wake TFU android idiot programmers and fix this crap.
Same problem here on my Note 10. All notifications in the system UI are forced on and grayed out. Has anyone found a fix yet?
hmmm which CSC and which version are you guys on? my s10+ doesnt have that ridiculous icon when plugged in and 100% full. looks like a CSC feature and if so it could be switched off (with root - by modifying CSC xml file) or you just flash another CSC as long as it doesnt effect your baseband
Update: Did a quick check but i couldnt find "Battery full" category in Notifications -> SystemUI. Only "Low battery". Probably something based off CSC?
s3, s5, note5, s8+ all had the notification lights for messages, missed calls, batt charging/full + any other notifications desired.
lack of notification the notification light/s on s10+, with infinity o display is my only gripe with the phone.
Hello, is this a bug on the new Android 11. My Verizon Galaxy S10 doesn't show the top notification bar on the home screen anymore. In apps, it shows. For example, right now in RIF app I can see the time, my icons, battery. Not when I close the app and I'm sitting on the home screen.
Is this a bug? I read something on a Google Pixel thread on reddit that it's a feature of Android 11, but I want to confirm that. I can't recall this happening all week (or two) since I've gotten Android 11.
no issue on my 10+.
