Hi Xda,
Is there an app or safe mod that can change the look of the soft keys? I know that you can go into setting and move them around or add or delete some of them. However I want a different style of icons.
Thanks!
Probably need root and xposed.

Some people in the reviews soft brick there phones with this app or damaged the system UI. So... Sounds to risky unless someone can confirm they were successful.
But thanks for looking

This is hands down the best soft keys replacement I have ever used AND it doesn't require root. Granted, it doesn't replace them but if you hide them and use this you'll never think about them again.

I just discovered it when I got this phone and I see myself using it on all phones in the future.

When I get the phone I'll make a navbar changer for us. It won't be like anything you guys are linking to. It will do exactly what you want it to do. Replace the nav button theme for an alternate style. Easy peasy

Love what you did on the V10 and i bought your blue theme from the play store for the V20. Can't wait for your navbar changer.
In the meantime, i'd sure love an option in your blue theme to make the navbar dark/transparent on the wallpaper/home screen.
Yea I would like to add additional add a menu button to my soft key. Sadly haven't found anything that can accomplish this task

Nope. Haven't even started it. It's on my list of things to do but it's at the very bottom. Also I was unable to get a tmo v20 and what I was planning on making does require root. My phone doesn't have root so for now I'm not even thinking about this.

I don't spend a whole lot of time in these forums. Mostly just following what's going on with the latest ROMs/leaks/radios, etc. I personally don't understand the reason that people was to de-sense their phones. Only thing that I see that it does is the "slide down" unlock (the part of it that I NEED), and the main clock/weather screen. Is there more to it that I am missing that's bloats it?

Yep....sense is FILLED with un needed junk. Just to day i made a desensetized rom and i had to get rid of 15+ apks that were total junk

I personally like sense, but some prefer stock android. I'll admit though sense has bloatware and some want to get rid of it. Personal preference mostly.

Oh, I am removing tons of BS APKs, but is there a way to keep the "slide down" unlock and home screen? Or is removing the APKs basically doing just that?

No. The app is called htclockscreen.apk. keep that and you will have the slide to unlock

I'm also not sure if I should get rid of Sense. Can someone put exactly whats in 2.2's Sense because I'm not completely sure of what I would lose if I drop it. Also, if I do get rid of it is their a way to keep Friendstream? I like not having to check Twitter and FB seperately. Thanks guys.

Now THAT's what I wanted to hear. Thing that's been stopping me from messing with some of the ROMs was that the "side-slide" just seemed unnatural to me.
What is your rom and where can we get it?
I'm guessing this would be the place to ask what "deoxeded" is and why it's good...
I use the notification bar a lot so the "recent app" section is taking a lot of screen space...to much when it's up to me. Is there a Hack to switch this off and use the notification bar...for notifications? I know I can install a custom rom (my DHD is rooted) but if a hack can do the job?
I'm also curious about how to remove the "recent apps" from my notification bar, as it is useless to me (prefer holding down the home button) and taking excess space on the screen.
Desire Z here.
yep, a hack for this would be great. Pointless when you can just hold home IMO
Anyone?

Agreed, I never really understood this menu anyway, some apps don't seem to show up in it. Maybe it would be useful if it had a built in task killer.
I'd like to see it gone for another reason. When I use lots of different apps, and the "recent apps" change greatly Notification Bar lags, sometimes even 4-5 seconds, which is a LOT. Do you experience the same issue?
Also, bump on the idea.
Great idea! Would love some toggles or music controls instead.

I'm afraid that any major change to these icons or the "recent apps" section will require root privileges.
Definately worth rooting for. Liamstears theme has a customisable power bar in place, though it does allow for both if you feel the need to.
Yeah i know it's worth it, but i do enjoy a stock ROM. I really need a functional phone now, so i don't want to end up with a bricked device

then you don't have much of a choice really.. since u decided to stick to a stock rom and this removal of the recent apps definitely requires some hacking, u're stuck with having recent apps in your notification page
Yes, this recent apps in the notification bar is just useless and takes up the real estate space. Its so useless when you can achieve same from home button.
It will be great to get a hack or option to switchoff this stupid strip.

Ahh, damnit The only thing that's currently stopping me from rooting is the damn downgrade procedure. And i guess there's no point of struggling to make something thats roots 1.72 since 2.3/2.4 is coming soon (i hope).
What's the chance of bricking when downgrading and rooting?

0% lol its impossible to brick you device, downgrading or rooting! the only way to actually brick your device is when flashing a radio or bootloader

people use the "brick" word too easly imo, a bricked device wont power on at all, it is as useful as a brick (hence the name). but you see threads all the time "help bricked" or "have i bricked my device" when in reality there device is faaaaaaaar from bricked so dont let it scare you, its actually quite hard to brick your device
Ok, i know i'm off topic now, and sorry about that, but what is the best guide for downgrading and rooting the DHD?
Edit: Found it myself
If your phone is rooted you could flash a mod by he_stheone64 or by krzysiec and then changing the .txt file to stop showing recent opened app. All the instructions are on there great posts in the themes and apps section.
Yeah, i've done that and it's a very quick and easy process.

I'm desperate for this one too. Quick settings take too much real estate. Galaxy note 8 came up with clever way, quick settings move up and disappear as you scroll down the notifications. I need something like that!!!

Moving on to do mods for roms I have the source code to, instead of all this reverse enginering.

Fair enough. Sadly you were the only one to provide such a mod. I am currently back to TW and I really hate toggles in my notifications.

I don't know know if your familiar with this app but I absolutely love it. This combined with Substratum gives you the ability to customize your phone to its fullest. I was able to theme my notifications shade to match my note9 colors and that's not even the half of what you can do. Give it a try. Search Good Lock 2018 in the Galaxy Apps store.
Nice, thanks for the heads up. I've seen these two things mentioned here and there. I'm downloading and giving them a shot now!
This is one of Samsung's best. Why doesn't it come on the phone? It has like 5 different amazing additions.
Just installed it and it is really good. Changed my recent apps so it is similar to android pie where you can scroll from left to right and vice versa. Much easier to multitask this way.
Nice find!
Wow! Love this! Thank you! Now we just need an app to control the settings theme and we're good to go

Aptoide? Really? Welcome to adware land!
Personally I just grab the apks from apkmirror and install them.
You have to add shortcuts to each app because they are not accessible from the app drawer. Use a shortcut maker app for that.
