Hi, silly question. Is this the last official update that just been released?
Enviado desde mi GT-N7000 usando Tapatalk 2
Hello, I am downloading the new "official" update right now. I have a number of questions before I attempt to apply/install it. Thanks for any responses:
(a) Does this "fix" the brick bug issue or is a custom kernel still required?
(b) Does this "fix" the recently announced security flaw?
(c) Is there some way, other than with Kies, to install the download (like Odin) - the file was said on SamMobile to be a Kies file? I currently don't have anything but the Kies USB drivers installed and really don't need Kies itself for anything else. If there is another way, please post a procedure.
(d) My device is rooted and currently running HydraCore 4.3b (overclocked). So:
a) Do I have to unroot and otherwise return to stock 4.0.4 before installing this?
b) How do I re-root after install? And install backup/recovery?
c) I read that HydraCore does not support JB. Is there a good alternative? Is this even needed now (I originally installed HydraCore to avoid the brick bug but find it very nice in most ways)?
d) Does this "fix" the touchkey backlight bug?
e) Will installing this do anything to my installed apps and their data? If so, what steps to best recover that?
Thanks for your help before I step into this.

It's official. Yes. Maybe it's the last official (hoping for 4.2.2)

Thanks. Can you give a quick run-down on what to do with ODIN with this file. I am obviously a newbie.
Sure friend
First Download the program Odin that I share the bond of dropbox,
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2065147/Odin 3.rar
Download the version of firmware.
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/194965403/0874506/N7000XXLSZ_N7000OXALSZ_DBT.zip.html
Decompress it and attached the PDA option in ODIN identified.
Base can take the pictures attached in my previous post

Sure, these shortcuts were included from version XXLSC and this is still working properly.
Now can i just update my Galaxy Note without wiping it like other ROMs?
I'm on 4.0.4 stock, never used any ROM 'cause didn't wanna wipe my phone, i was waiting for the official release because as far as i know i could just update it with Kies without wiping.
Is there a way to do it or will i have to wait for the update to get to my country and carrier?

Try to upgrade with odin, the most that can happen is that you start the phone and you would have to enter the recovery to clear the cache and start your phone clean.

Is there a way to update this phone outside of the US? Mine is still on 4.2.2, and i know there is official 4.4.2 out for it now but it keeps telling me that it's on the latest firmware? Any insight on this guys?

If you dont mind losing data or having to use apps to backup and restore, you can flash the full firmware using ODIN.
The link to the full firmware is available here

Thanks for the idea...didn't use the exact method listed in that post but it gave me an idea of an easy route to take. Now on 4.4.2. Thanks a lot!
Here is the video with what's happening (sorry for the potato quality): /watch?v=3wnC-GIZHWs
Does anyone have an idea about this? I've tried reinstalling the firmware with Samsung Kies, no luck. Tried the same with Odin with a firmware from sammobile, still no luck. I don't have a warranty for it and I was wondering if you guys could help me out.
Bump

do exactly the same thing, but tick UPDATE BOOTLOADER, after (if) it boots, use SamMobile's app to determine if Modem and Bootloader are updating...

Im not sure, seems a lot like hardware issue.
Did your phone come branded, like Tmobile and Vodefons stuff?

Yea, it came locked in Vodafone, I unlocked it at a nearby GSM service. I'll take it there to see what the heck it's happening since I can't solve it myself. Thank you all for the support.
Try this...
Find the PIT file for branded phones (branded = carrier roms such as vodfona, etc)
Get SamFirm and download a branded 5.0.1 BOL3 rom, it'll download it in 4 tar.md5 files rather then one. Make sure it's a vodafone rom, it may be a csc issue.
Good luck...
Hi there, just wondering does any Australian users who own G935FD flashed the Nougat beta firmware? Does it perfectly work with any carriers? And will I still receive OTA afterwards? Cuz I really want to try the new rom but couldn't find any official stock as backup. Many thanks

1) Yes

4) Official firmwares - flash via Odin. http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
I'm on Nougat Beta 1 flashed via odin. Definitely recommend.
Next time, please read the forum title before posting. As you can see this forum is for news&discussion NOT q&a.
I am an Australia user who flashed Nougat beta 1 as soon as it came out. Haven't had any real problem with it. It has minor bugs here and there but its good enough for my daily driver.

No I flashed a generic XSA CSC from the latest Marshmallow official firmware. Download and extract from the zip on Sammobile. This was an attempt to get Samsung Pay working, but it looks like they're disabled it for Nougat regardless of the CSC.

Thanks for remain, one thing I am still concerning that when I flash back to official stock, will I still get OTA? Since my Galaxy note4 is running on an official stock and still can receive OTA after I flashed many times of different ROMs.
Hi all, a while ago I updated my girlfriend's S7E to the first Nougat beta but didn't flash the (BTU?) so she wouldn't lose data.
Now the official Nougat is out is there any way to get the OTA or other way, without flashing that wipes her data?
Thanks!!
Is it an S7 or S7E? This is the forum for the S7E.
In either case, you just need to download the full Nougat odin files, and flash the CSC_HOME with it, and you won't lose data.
But personally I'd suggest backing up data and starting fresh.
It's S7E which is why I posted in the S7E forum ?
So I flash JUST the CSC_HOME file?
Incidentally is the final release Odin file out there yet?
Thanks!!

But if I flash HOME_CSC I won't get updates right?
I'm really concerned since I flashed HOME_CSC instead of CSC and some tell me that I won't get OTA updates. What should I do?
thing to learn.
CSC keep the region data. Usually OTA update will read those. it always come in set. all 4 set bl,ap,cp,csc if the server read all those and confirm the match you will get the update. if you happen to use bl,ap,cp from other region and using your own home_csc or whatever... you wont received ota update.

What you should do is stop being so concerned with an OTA, you can just flash the firmware in odin. It takes like 10 minutes
Oh and dude, some friendly advice for a new guy- dont spam multiple threads with the exact same question. Trust me it will save you some grief later .

Yeah but there may be some times where I won't have access to a computer and a laptop. Also downloading the firmware takes time.
I am sorry if this seems a bit rude but you didn't answer my question. I'm saying this because if I don't get OTA updates because I flashed HOME_CSC then I should wait for the next updated nougat firmware and flash it with CSC instead of HOME_CSC.
Yes I know but I am the type that gets easily concerned. Sorry for taking your time this way. I would appreciate some answers. Thank you.

Do I just flash the CSC only with odin or do I reflash the firmware all over again in order to get OTA updates? My active CSC code is BTU.
Just CSC should do it if all you changed was that
Thanks!!
Might as well flash the whole firmware again as both options are going to factory reset the device anyway.
