I tried the AospExtended on my Moto G4Plus (xt1642)
Most of it seemed to work, but SD card was not recognized properly (was reported as corrupted - and proposed a format)

Technically, yes. However, as most ROMs are unofficial or alpha or even experimental versions, it's best advised to check the corresponding support thread and specially the OP pertaining to the ROM. There could be bugs or issues which may or may not be crucial to your use. Some would need specific kernels to flash, and some have specific Gapps package to be flashed.

The Moto E3 Power released just a few days ago in India, and there has been a huge market for low-end smartphones here. I've bought one myself, just because of the VoLTE support!
I was wondering if this is the same as the Moto E3, and if not, will we be getting a separate forum for it? I would love to see some development happening on this great phone It has caught my widespread attention for being so smooth and low-cost, a real beauty by Lenovo.
there is no difference in both devices ....both are same....... and it has the worst cpu that is mediateck ....no one uses it.... it is just a laggy phone................in starting it will work great but after months .... u will urself notice laggings
Lol I am using a mediatek chipset device since 1 year and haven't noticed a minor lag while playing any high end games like GtA sa or MC4-5 and while multitasking.

I have posted links of the stock rom for all models of XT1706 in another thread. Can this kernel development be of any use? https://github.com/profglavcho/mt6735-kernel-3.10.61

That's Linux
Firstly, a ROM with no Android makes no sense. Even if any ROM looks like iOS/Windows or others, the base is always Android.
Exceptions do exist like the link above mentioned by @strongst and Ubuntu and others but only if someone develops/ports them for athene (None for now).

Just check the ROMs, Recoveries, Kernels (Development) Section. We have ROMs varying from Android MM 6.0.1 to N 7.1 .
Btw, majority of the MM ROMs aren't updated so see for yourself. :good:
Go buy a windows phone.

Wrong thread, buddy.
Besides, every single ROM is basically skinned LineageOS with cherrypicked AOKP/Slim/etc. commits. Some ROMs, such as Invicta, do have a slightly different and/or optimized kernel, but performance and battery for all ROMs is nothing different from stock Lineage.

After testing allmost all official custom roms I went back to the stock Motorola rom, because for me it runs rock stable and I never had problems with it at all unlike some Lineage based roms.
Maybe have a look at the debloated, optimized RevivorOS based on the latest stock rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/rom-npjs25-93-14-4-deodexed-debloated-t3587180
So I've updated to Nougat, I'm on 7.0, and I was wondering if ROMs were compatible with that? I've tried dirty unicorn and lineage both get stuck on the boot screen. I wipe data, cache, dalvik 7 & system every time I try to install them but it never works. I've tried installing with and without GAPPS (i've tried bean GAAPPS and dynamic). I don't know how to get it to work, I have tried using the latest zips of both Dirty Unicorn and Lineage, any help would be appreciated. Also it is the "clark" moto X pure, XT1575

As I wrote there - only few builds work with Nougat modem.
LOS by Hashbang 12.nov., AOSP EX by Obsolete1, RRemix by LuisG 04.dec.
Better idea - downgrade modem or stay on stock.

where can I get a flashable modem? thank you
For EU in General thread.
For other versions - download full sock - extract and replace non-hlos in zip file.
Methinks if they cannot read which roms support 7.0 that they will be back with a bricked device shortly.

There are but since you can't read the descriptions in each ROM and figure out which ones I am not going to tell you so you can foul up and brick your device.

Yes. These are the only ones. You did read correctly. Any other ones require 6.0 radio firmware and will result in a bootloop

Restore boot only, reboot twrp, format system, data, cache to ext4, reformat back to f2fs data & cache. Restore backup.
Or
Flash full stock N with fasboot.
