All i really want are themes to make my device look cool
and i heard you need roms to install themes
i unlock root device perfectly fine
but everytime i try to install a rom my device ****s up and im forced to reset
(the rom loads up but the device only has like 3 apps no play store and stuff like that, no google features which i like)
so it is possible on stock rom?
For custom roms you have to flash a Google Apps (Gapps) package separately. This contains all the google apps you need.
Btw, you can try installing Xposed Framework and XThemeEngine. They require root.
Or wait for the Themer app by MyScreenColor to be released. It will be a non-root app and contains awesome designer themes.

how do i know which Gapp i need?
im trying to install carbon 1.8
Most of the times, there are links for both the rom and the proper gapps package in the threads. If you can't find it there, download one from here: http://goo.im/gapps
I suppose you could just use a 3rd party launch that you could just re-theme? Not sure if you're talking more about the innards of the OS. I think your only option may be to root.
edit: someone already posted my idea, whoops.

Whenever sharing someone else's work, please make sure you link to their original thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547316 and give them proper credits instead of simply uploading their apk yourself.
It let's people know exactly what they are installing and who the original developer is, so they can support his/her further work and know where to report bugs.
Thank you for sharing though
Will make sure from next time

I have been using adguard to remove ads from youtube and other websites, but AdAway also seems to be an interesting app as its names signifies. Thanks for the bulk of information. I'll also give it a try.

Yeah,
I couldn't either. I finally gave in to the xposed framework modules.
Google xposed framework. Download and install.
Open the framework tab and install( don't reboot yet)
Hop on the play store and download Bsled's 'g2 xposed' (you could also download from the tab in xposed, called download, and find xblast tools)
After you install you app of choice, open xposed, don't open the app yet. Go to modules. Tick the box for that app you installed. NOW REBOOT.
Now open the app g2 xposed or xblast and change the settings you like and reboot again and they will set.
Whew... Out of breath now.
A few steps but its pretty easy.

not sure if theres anything out there for the 230nu? but I was curious if there was anyway to get the framework for this device, Ive never used exposed other than a slight dabble with it on my Galaxy Note i717 ! Anyone have any knowldege of this ? I am rooted , and I do have TWRP , however the TWRP I have is useless as it cant do anything! If theres another copy of recovery out there Id be willing to try that out as well, I dont actually use the Tab all that much , I have too much fun on my OnePlus One
I don't really understand your question all to well, but to my knowledge the Xposed framework should work on all devices. I have the 8" tab 4 and Xposed is installed as are multiple modules. The xposed framework is just an APK, which I believe makes it universal. Hopefully this helps with your question.
Just find the xposed apk, move it to your device and install the apk. Then you should install/update the framework and reboot your device. Should be completely done with everything after that besides installing whatever modules you want. I'd suggest checking the subforum for it and you should have all your answers there.
I've never used xposed before but I thought it would be easier than flashing a ROM. Where do I get it an SM-T230NU & what are the best modules?
Just search for the xposed forum on XDA and then you download it. I use wanam xposed module to kill camera sound and to do a few other useful tweaks and one or two other modules just for giggles like the hodor module.

There's a warning before trying to install the module. Forget exactly what it said but something to the effect of not compatible with the system.

Pm me if you want me to email you the screenshot of the whole thing. Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread... I just recently picked up a TAB 4 (SM-T230NU) and also am having some confusion on installing xposed. I am rooted, and using Android 4.4.2. When using the APK it will not allow me to install the framework, with the message "xposed is not compatible w/ android apk version 19 or your processor architecture (armeabi-v7a). Etc..." ...
Anyone able to help me on getting Xposed on this device WITHOUT updating my android version?

Same issue here on my SM-T231.
I cant't succeed installing xposed framework, i try many times.
I flash zip in twrp everything goes well but the xposed apk says that the sdk is not compatible yet.
This is the message
Search for Xposed for marshmallow... you are using the wrong version
hi danielexda,
i had this problem too. delete your xposed installer, switch of phone, wait a few seconds, switch on and search and use xposed installer 3.1.1.
than you can install version 87 (arm64) via download or as a zip.
good luck

Hi guys,I really need your help please.
I am a kitkat 4.4.2 user with xposed 2.7 experimental version installed.
I am experiencing login problem after clearing my google apps, I can't login to any google apps when xposed is installed but the problem is gone when I uninstall it.
Does anyone here know how to solve the login problem without uninstalling xposed?
