[Q] S4 keeps rebooting.

My GS4 i337 keeps rebooting. I flashed Wicked v10 and everything went well except I had no wifi or data. I also noticed that the model number changed. I then proceeded to flash Wicked v10 and it said it was succesful, but when I started it up it would say safestrap enabled and then when it actually tried to boot up the screen went black and after a while it would vibrate twice and try to boot up. I have the AT&T GS4 (i337). What do I do?

Do a data wipe. Sounds like old user data is interfering with boot. Factory reset/data wipe should fix you up. If not, reflash with a dif cable. No data bc most roms require you to manually enter the apn after flashing. I woumd follow a guide while flashing if you're new at this. Dont mean to imply you are. I always wipe after every new rom flash, can fix a lot of "bugs".

I tried to do a data wipe but it says
E: error opening '/datamedia/media'
E: error: No such file or directory
Also I didn't use a data cable I just flashed it from safestrap recovery. Also I have done multiple factory resets, just doesn't boot. I'm gonna see if I have to do a different rom slot.

Idk much about safestrap as im on a Canadian variant and dont need it. You didnt overwrite your default slot tho did you? Can you boot into stock at all? I have seen a lot of safestrap issue threads and fixes, any luck searching the threads?

Yes I overwrote my stock (Yeah I'm a dumbass I know)
No I can't boot into stock.
I didn't really think it was a safestrap issue but I did look for some threads and found someone with the same problem on a different device though.

Yeah that sucks. I understand the issue. Ive seen someone wrestling with your exact issue earlier in the month. Keep searching this forum, the help forum, fix is here. Ive seen it.

Would it be a problem with the model number or anything? It has a weird model number now.
and BTW: I'm not THAT new but I wouldn't say I'm an expert. I've rooted multiple devices (GNex, HTC Evo, Kindle Fire), but this is the hardest (Stupid AT&T)

Not sure of the implications of this, bc again, i dont use safestrap. Can you use odin yo flash your device back to official stock, and stock recovery. Reroot, reinstall safestrap etc? Might be your best bet. If possible. I wish I could be of more help, but i really am of no use with safestrap. Dont worry, weve all made mistakes, you arent hard bricked so must be recoverable.

I'm sorry for the trouble but can you point me in the direction of the files needed (samsung stock rom) needed for this? Can I use any stock based rom or do I have to use the samsung one.

Samsung-updates.com has all the stock firmware for all devices. Make sure you read the safestrap faq to ensure you flash a stock compatible with it. I know 4.3 with safestrap is giving ppl fits, may be best to go 4.2.2. Use the firmware archive for older firmwares. I uploaded 4.2.2 to the android section of the thepiratebay.org or thepiratebay.se a month or so ago, as many had requested it.

I9505 works on i377m, dunno about the i377. Gimme a sec, ill see if i can find your mk2. Big difference that kittle m makes. Your bootloader is locked, hence safestrap, mine isn't (i377m). Not sure if the Canadian wilk run on yours, gimme a few minutes and ill see what i can dig up. If it is compatible, you could just use csc changer to set proper carrier. You will also want to lookup and identify your apn, thats what gives data on roms, without it, no data. Proper region stock has proper apn set auto. Back in a few.

8.The phone should now reboot to a black screen with the pulsing notification LED.U need to install recovery-mj6.tar.md5 or i337MK2stockRecovery.tar.md5 (also confirmed work with some users) via ODIN first if u stuck between step 6 and 7 since u are on DOWNLOADING MODE....and then force reboot to get u back to recovery if u coming from MK2 by using combo button (VolUp+Home+Power) or use this Odin Force Reboot .tar File to reboot
9.Reboot into recovery mode and choose apply update via adb and open your adb command from computer and use MF3>MK2 update zip files from OP .....HOPE THIS HELP......

I recommend sideloading instead of flashing from sdcard because the sdcard method reboots the phone whether the update was successful or not and you lose the error messages.
10.Reboot the phone and let it initialize.
11.You should now have MK2. and last step is to Hit THANK button......

Follow my MK2 FULL ODIN thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621279 it should get u back to stock MK2 .... check post#2 for guide. .... and post#50 for MK2 useful links....btw my previous unbricked method worked as well but this MK2.tar.md5 FULL OFIN FILES is alot easier... just flash it via Odin...... It won't. AT&T and (and I think possibly Sprint too) doesn't release updated firmware releases. They only make the original (in this specific instance, KitKat) firmware available and that's it. If you're already on 5.1.1 you should make a system dump and then see if anyone's willing to make you a firmware file from it. If you're not on 5.1.1 and want to be, I have the original OTA file if you need

The only firmware Samsung or AT&T has released (and most likely will ever release) is the original KitKat firmware: LTE AT&T SM-T337A UCU1ANF4 And unfortunately I've heard that others have not been able to downgrade when trying. It sounds like you need to bring it into the store, unless the boot(LP fix).tar can get your tab booting again

I've tried everything, including the boot(LP fix) and bring it to best buy....it all started with a root, where the message shows "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found..." then i used the boot(LP fix) subsequently causing the fact that the AT&T globe is stuck on boot up perhaps FOREVER...

I have the same issue. I can get it into downloading do not tur off target and that is it. Is there anything I can do? This sucks. lol

@AllenPlaysGames too. I am trying to make a 5.1.1 Odin firmware file for you guys, but I don't have the device. So you/I need someone with the SM-T337A to at the very least make a system dump . Ideally I would also need the modem.bin, NON-HLOS.bin, recovery.img, a cache dump, and the PIT file. But at the very least, you need to go into these other threads and ask someone with rooted lollipop to make a system dump. And the other things I mentioned if at all possible.

I possibly could? I have my tablet but all it does is boot loop when I turn it on. Is there any way that I can get a system dump from download mode or recovery? If so, I can be of assistance.

Sorry I'm in need of system restore as well, due to root experimenting. But someone with a working device can root via our method and gain the system dumps. Would be nice as my wife is made I broke my tablet I can assist anyone who wishes to try :laugh:

Don't think so. I heard that the bootloader is different in PD8. Can't hurt to try though, right?

You can try flashing the ENG BOOT then downgrading it to PD8

Yes its possible. Go to the firmware thread and download the pd8 firmware and extract it. Open Odin and put each file in it's respected place (file that starts with ap in the ap slot, CSC in the CSC slot etc) and then flash. After reboot you should be good to go. Warning though, make sure you have everything backed up somewhere else though because it will wipe your entire internal data.

Even on PD8 since it is V3 boot loader it will not allow since the error message states you are trying to downgrade the boot loader from V3 to V2. As anyone has tired to go to PD7?

if this is true I will try it. if it does work is there a v2 bootloader that we could flash to our phones that is unlocked and will work on t mobile even if its not for t mobile.

I don't believe we can flash it on anything with a v3 bootloader.
We're out of luck until the SM-G935U's bootloader is updated.
Apparently T-Mobile is the only one pushing out the new bootloader. ATT & Verizon can still flash SM-G935U firmware.

Yeah - and if TMO kept it's "promise", it would have been unlocked....

I don't understand what the big deal is? I was on pd8 and did Odin (NOT OTA) to pg1. I then did Odin from pg1 to pd8. Why is everyone trying to figure out of it works? What's different about the bootloader because I even flashed the pg1 bootloader and then went back to pd8.

Possible to root to a better firmware, rom, and etc? Is stock verizon firmware good?

I have a bunch of questions. I just received my Verizon S7 as of today, brand new of course.
1. Is it possible to flash this to a different firmware and possibly load a rom for that, I've noticed? Or is there no working rom for this verizon phone because it's from verizon? I know you can root it as well. Verizon firmware seems pretty ass so far and have noticed that it's been heating up just because I'm installing apps from the playstore although people have said it goes away eventually. Any recommendations on which firmware I should use?
2. As for the people who have rooted, how has your experience with it so far in terms of performance, battery life, and stability? I plan on rooting if's worth the trouble so I can use Adaway, Xposed Installer, and etc but mainly to improve my battery life if rooting helps with that!

One answer is that you can use Odin to flash the 930U factory image and have a phone with no carrier bloatware. You will however lose Visual Voicemail and Wifi calling from Verizon. I actually have a 930U and flashed the 930V firmware with no issues.

What's everyone's preference out of the following?
Stock Verizon Firmware
Rooted Verizon Firmware
Stock Unlocked Firmware
Rooted Unlocked Firmware
I'm on rooted Verizon PF2 Firmware, but I need to revert (if possible) to PE1 and re-root in order to get the wifi provisioning fix working. I'm just trying to determine if perhaps I should change it up to something else.

That's fine with me. Does that affect my warranty at all? How has your experience been with the 930U or the 930V? Does this still count as a root or does it just flash a stock image?

It does not trip knox and you can Odin back to stock.

In my honest opinion, go to the G930U firmware and root it. Overall, the unlocked firmware is much smoother after root than the Verizon firmware is. There are fixes to add Advanced calling, WiFi calling, and Visual Voicemail. I'll have to dig them up later.

I know it says AT&T, but I can confirm that it does work on the Verizon S7.

as CVertigo1 mentioned, it is for the SM-G930A but works for any US Galaxy S7, yes that includes the SM-G930VL.

Gave up on rooted Verizon PE1 firmware. Tried over and over but was seeing pretty bad battery drain, even after following the tuning guides. I'm back on stock PE1. I am going to try to debloat and test battery life.
Otherwise, I still have my rooted S6 that runs flawlessly, and seems to get better battery life. This is the S7's last chance before I sell it. I bought it for increased better battery life but it hasn't panned out yet.

Unable to downgrade from U1 unlocked to ATT U firmware

I currently have the U1 unlocked firmware flashed and am trying to flash it back to the original U firmware because of the new bootloader issue. I am receiving an Odin fail error all the time with different USB ports and computers. Is there something I did wrong? Also, I purchased this as a G950U device. I recently got it unlocked through ATT so does that mean it is now a G950U1 device?

The G950U is the unlocked version, so why did you have to unlock it through AT&T?
It should've worked straight off the bat.

Is the bootloader version on the firmware you're trying to flash the same as the one that's on there now? You can't downgrade bootloader versions.

I'm honestly not sure. The firmware was the original stock ATT version and I was running the latest Nougat update. I switched the CSC code back to ATT from AIO this morning using the main guide here, but I am now stuck on that Factory Binary screen. Is there a firmware for v2 bootloader for ATT out there?

Figured it out, I have v2 bootloader software and the unlocked software I am using is v1. Could someone please give me a link to v2 unlocked firmware? I'm honestly drained at this point and I'll just not do any OTAs from this point on.

QL1 is the latest. This is labeled as vzw but it's all inclusive so it installs properly depending on your sim:

Hey joe thanks for this! I figured I'd give it a shot to flash back to unroot and it worked! I also checked my warranty in the download mode and it's still at 0x0 and I'm still able to use Samsung Pay/Secure Folder so I didn't even trip Knox.
