hi i have rooted useung cf autoroot , using twrp and xposed , i cant use private mode every time i switch it on it say private mode failed , please try again.
Bump help please
the only way to use private mode again is to either modify the build prop or go look in the custom rom and recovery and pick out a rom that has a working private mode.
OK could be great if someone could point out , new yo this
Bump

If you enable private mode BEFORE your root, private mode still works after root. If you forget, you are screwed. Uninstalling SuperSU won't restore original boot.img so private mode still won't enable if you un-root then try to enable it. You must enable it before modifying anything.
Secret tabs still work on the Internet browser too

Well I learned something new.
I was using private mode before I rooted. But for some reason after root it just wouldn't switch on.

Wanam Xposed has a setting called "fake system status" in Security hacks. It changes phone status from custom to official.
You need to download and install Xposed framework first before you can use Wanam Xposed.
You can download Wanam Xposed from the Playstore.

Okay, choose Survival mode in SuperSU and do the update.
I turned on Survival Mode and changed my rom to Official with Xposed, but when I try to do the update it fails. Any idea how I can get it to work? I can't get MMS working or VoLTE without it.

I FIXED IT OMG! After extensive Googling I found this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...900tuvudnf4-extracted-stock-firmware-t2834398
I followed that guide and Voila! MMS works now. I guess you can't allow it to autoupdate since it's rooted for some reason. The manual update via Mobile Odin and regular Odin worked perfectly. I didn't trip Knox either and my root remained intact. Hopefully this link can help others.
To others who may happen upon this post. The one thing the guide failed to mention was to install the Samsung USB drivers first to ensure Odin can connect. I also read to turn off USB debugging, but I read that AFTER I did it. Just posting that, so others can make sure to turn it off just in case.
You can find the USB drivers here: http://androidxda.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers
I know posting this hoping it will help someone seems like a stretch, but I always do it due to this Xkcd: http://xkcd.com/979/

Private mode not working
I rooted my note 4 today and after several issues the private mode doesn't work. I tried XSecureStorage AND the Wanam implemented option, both didn't work for me. I just used the flashable Zip from wuby and flashed it to my galaxy note 4. I don't know if this zip file was made for galaxy note 4's, however, i flashed it. Now my private mode just seems to be working, cause if i enable it it it says 'private mode working' instead of 'private mode not turned on, please try again'.
But there's no way to access the private mode now. It's like it is turned on, but doesn't work at the same time . This is so weird. Can anybody help me please? :crying:

Well it is not the correct app.. But if you are on stock only rooted rom you just need to wipe data.. If is a custom rom you can use this zip pulled from our rom for note4
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dllkqmwrw9ndy0v/Private_mode_enabler.zip?dl=0
Be aware that if you wipe data you'll loose all in the private partition
Well thank you for your quick response first, wuby. I now wiped data (Yes i am stock rooted and don't have a custom ROM), but an error message occured 'Personal storage stopped'. I read on another forum that it maybe has something to do with the super su? Because when i rooted it and rebooted super su from chainfire asked me if i want to bypass knox. Some user said that private mode isn't working if you click on 'Agree'. But now i can't find that option anymore. Do you have any idea?
I'm sorry. I've rooted many phones and I'm a bit familiar, but still a noob
Any Help would be great.

So flash the zip i sent in last post and should be fine i think.. Regarding disable knox there is no problem.. I am used to actually delete all knox apps and related ones to.. If you are using xposed you need also maybe a fix in /system/build.prop : change from true to false the value for ro.securestorage.support , save the file and to reboot the device.. See if helps in case you use xposed
Also if you are on stock you have to delete the .odex file for personalpage.apk via root browser
Hello again
EDIT:
I deleted the personalstorage.odex file with root browser and flashed your zip file. Still doesn't work
Yes i use xposed and I already changed the the status to 'false'. It works flawless but still no private mode. I tried to change the status to true, used the XSecureStorage module - no effect. Still doesn't work. Is there any log i can supply you with to get a closer look? Only if you don't mind. (you need to tell me how i can get those logs.)
I even tried the wanam Xposed Module and ticked the security hack - no effect. What am i doing wrong?
And i flashed the Zip file via TWRP. The only change that happens then is that the message appears: 'Private mode enabled', but i can't access any files, or drop any files in the PM. I really want it back! I got so much pics of my naked Girlfriend in it I just have to get them back!!

Your private mode must be enabled already. That's why. To enable private mode, you need a pin / fingerprint.

Samsung decided with marshmallow to disable that feature if the Knox flag was triggered. You need the modded apk which removes this check.

I would recomend you to download a custom rom which has the modded apk, extract the apk from the rom, delete yours and reboot. Then put the modded apk in the exact place where the original was, put rw-r-r permissions and reboot

I would still like to know if this is possible to implement. I'm currently using ther superman ROM which doesn't have the modded apk, I talked with the developer and he will look into it, but this is a very important feature for me and I really need it.

Even if you flash the original firmware, you will not be able to use the security features anymore (in some custom roms, some features do work). Once you root, the knox flag changes permanently!

Not going to work.. you Will have you dissable the apps with an package dissabler.. so they don't appear in your app drawrer
You dont need root or a package disabler you can disable or uninstall any package you want without root all you need is the android debug bridge 1.0.32 and to know what commands to enter i can disable camera apps and even the user intwrface and lockscreen without root which might i add is a major security flaw as anyone's passcode facelock and finger prints can be removed and access gotten to the system with all the files in it i will not be sharing how to do this with you in any way shape of form i am just lucky i found it on my device and have now patched it,
Anyhow back to your problem ill give you a tip however go to the debug bridge and type "adb shell" then "pm list packages" it will display the package names take note of what ones you dont want now type "pm disable -k --user 0 <packagename>" if this last command does not work remove -k from command it will work congrats you have now disabled all the packages you needed,
Also i dunno bout you but before i flashed TWRP and made knoe 0x1 i rooted with CF-AUTO root with stock 6.0 recovery and the knox stayed 0x0 even in recovery ??? As i mentioned only when i flashed with TWRP it went 0x1, possibly just my logic board and a fluke but who knows

Dear all
I have s8 non root. I am unable to software update. I suspect is because i adb greenify the aggressive doze.
Anyway to update? Thanks in advance.
I didn't know greenify works w/o root. Installed it again and don't like the way non-root works. I'd imagine, you just reverse what you did and try again then redo your modifications.
Are you using the original firmware for your phone? If all else fails try smart switch on the pc.

I'm not sure if the greenify settings stick after it's been uninstalled so you may want to reinstall it and revert all settings to stock to see if that'll help. Worst case, you can just use Samsung Switch program to update manually or use Odin to update. Alternatively, you can try to reset the phone to stock to see if that helps.
Go to download mode (Power down, bixby and power key) and see if Knox is tripped 0x1 instead of 0x0
