Hi everyone,
My S5 came with NI2 already installed. I followed the super easy root process and ever since my call quality has sucked. I have tried enabling the VoLTE and disabling it (on Verizon's web site and phone) and it does not seem to make a difference.
Would re-flashing (using ODIN) the kernel.tar from the root thread help? Does that include the modem? Would re-flashing the entire retail version help? Has anyone done this to fix this issue?
Any thoughts? I have been on T-Mobile for the past ten years and Verizon seems to be a completely different animal. I appreciate any help.
Thank you.

Update: Swapped the phone but still have call quality issues. 2-3 bars, so signal should not be the issue. I have kept the second one stock so far. I cleared the Cache in the stock recovery. I have tried different advance calling features such as privacy mode on/off, noise reduction on/off, personalized sound on/off etc. and every combination in between. Anyone have any other ideas? Verizon is tracking my calls (I dial #832 after each call), the towers I use etc., but so far they are baffled also. I am getting desperate. I am within my return period (1 month for business accounts) but it is too late because they already shipped off the S4 I traded in.
Wow. I was hoping for some suggestions. If I have to live with a verizon phone I think I will take them up on their offer to me. The Droid Turbo is enticing. Fits my needs. Sigh.. I wanted to love the G5. Best screen ever. Always the correct brightness. Sun, rain, whatever.
Call quality is horrendous. I need some input. Please. Robo voice and cut calls with 2 or 3 bars is crap. Any fixes or similar experiences?
I have been having the same problem. Both my wife and I have S5's and the call quality has been terrible lately. I have an iPhone 5c for work and it is much better than either S5. The quality seems to have gotten much worse after enabling Volte. I am going to try disabling it tonight. I am also going to try flashing one of the pre-volte radios if they still work. I have to do my research on this one first. I'm rooted and using Xposed mods but I don't think it is related to the quality issues. I have never been impressed with Samsung's radios and Samsung's call quality but I love their phones and keep coming back to them. Any other ideas anyone?
Well after having the Volte disabled for a few days, the phone seems much better. I am going to try re-enabling it to see if things get worse. It really looks like the Volte is killing my call quality somehow. It's a shame because when I am in a good solid LTE area and I make a true Volte HD call, the quality is awesome. It's when I make a regular call that things start to break up on both ends.
I've never messed with VOLTE, just seems like fluff to me and my call quality has always been outstanding. Have gone thru all update cycles since starting off on NCG. No issues or complaints here at all and I travel in some mighty rural areas

So i've tried pretty much every ROM out and wanted to post my findings with Call reception, data issues, APNs, etc and see if anyone else on Sprint has workarounds or advice on how to fix issues. On some ROMs i can get data but can't get calls/texts. On others i can get voice and data and hear people fine while on calls, but they tell me i'm breaking up constantly.
ROMs with voice and data, but poor voice delivery while on calls:
Resurrection Remix
AOKP
Turbo ROM
Temasek(i think...been awhile since i've flashed and can't remember)
Roms with data(sometimes) but cant make calls/texts:
PureNexus
DirtyUnicorn
ROMs with working data and good call quality:
AICP
Mokee
TruPureX(yes, i know it's not a custom ROM just putting it here because there are no issues with call reception or data on Sprint)
I believe if we were able to manually set APNs for some of these ROMs we could possibly correct this issue but for some reason the majority of ROMs i've flashed say "APN settings are not available for this user". Does anyone know a workaround for this issue? Please post other ROMs that i haven't commented on or other findings/workarounds
I know this is a long shot since this is an old post, but I was curious if you ever found anything on this? I had gone through a bunch of the ROMs mentioned and had the same experience. The only ROM I have had success with and has been almost flawless is Turbo. Yet I have the calling issue where everyone says I'm choppy and cut out so I am having to switch again. Everything else except TruePure I have had data issues with. LTE seems to drop and then I have nothing, it's almost like it can't hand off to 3g. Then I have no signal at all.
I'd go with the stock ROM, but that just has some horrible lag when operating. If I could pull whatever make Turbo work over to another ROM that would be great, but I've never set anything like that up.
Can it be a problem if you are using a XT1572 or XT1575? Maybe you need to be ROM specific when it comes to your device model.
This is the most annoying problem. At this point most roms I try have everything but 4g.
[This is a thread already created on ZTE's USA forum, but since no one has cared to answer, I'll just cross post it here and on Reddit until someone can give me feedback (lnks at the bottom)]
I passed by an overturned car and since some people were already there helping, I decided to call 112 (the same as "911" in Europe). To my disbelief, my Axon 7 just stood there, no warnings, no sounds, no nothing. I thought that maybe it was a Vodafone coverage issue so I grabbed my wife's Note 3 NEO that has the same carrier and as soon as I dialed 112 it just worked.
After all the commotion and once we arrived to our destination, I made a couple calls for some friends and everything worked out fine, with the exception of emergency numbers! Now, I don't known about you, but although I don't plan on making regular emergency calls, I'm quite worried about not being able to make one in case something happens.
I have a A2017G grey model bought on Amazon that has been updated normally via OTA to 0B03 and 0B05.
Could anyone confirm this situation as well, please? Like model, firmware and if it calls 112/911
Thanks in advance, everyone.

I have seen this in the US version too. 911 doesnt work. I had to install a different dialer
Anyone on custom ROMs might have a similar problem as well... On certain LOS 14.1 ROMs, dialing 911 & 112 (Yes, I tried both, as they are interchangeable in The States) would cause an immediate reboot. On other ROMS, the call might complete, but with no in call interface. So you've got no way to hang up, toggle speakerphone/mute, etc... I've also seen this on my old Moto X Pure Edition after flashing a custom ROM, so the problem could be related...
I would urge everyone to save the telephone number of your local police department and state police into your contacts.

For me this issue only happens with the Google Dialer on any ROM, including stock. The call goes through, but with no call UI. The AOSP and ZTE dialers both work for me for emergency calls.
Hello, deoki, have you fixed your phone on emergency call issues?
I am running the ROM in the title.
I have a strange thing happen every time I reboot the Moto X Pure. It has a large pop up SIM 1 and then my number. So I just touch it and the phone boots and works great. Then I get like 5 texts from verizon 90080006204 for some //VZWVVM:STATUS and then some url...
Does anyone know what this is all about?
Not sure what was causing this but to many issues with the camera on this ROM. So I flashed back to my rooted stock rom for now.
Tesla has some really cool features but not worth the trouble.
So I've had my OP6T for several months now and I've really enjoyed it and been impressed with it.
For the majority of the time I've used AEX as my custom rom. I always pick a rom with signature spoofing support so I can use microg. Also, my service provider is Verizon.
I finally decided after several months with AEX as my daily driver, I wanted a rom that is more up to date but I'm not really ready to update from 9 to 10. So I decided to flash The Skydragon rom. I flashed it super easy but could not make calls nor send texts. The entire time I used AEX, it made calls and sent SMS/MMS just fine. After I installed Skydragon I called Verizon and spent 2 hours on the phone with various tech specialists and in the end they said from their end everything looked like it should be working. They never got it making calls and sending/receiving texts.
It said out of service in the settings. I ended up switching back to AEX and as soon as I did, it began working properly again. I even tried to make calls and texts on my OP6T when it was 100% stock and it will not work
I wonder if it's because I was on AEX when I originally called Verizon last year and set it up? Am I correct in assuming that, each time I flash a different rom, my phone will appear to Verizon as a brand new phone? I couldn't get it to work on stock nor Skydragon but when I switch back to AEX it works as it's supposed to.

When you tried the other ROMs, were they unmodified?
OP6T works only with Verizon's LTE network, from what I saw online.
It may matter if your phone is international/unbranded, etc., and if the ROMs are for the appropriate version of phone.

My phone is international/unbranded. I'm not sure if the Roms were unmodified. I know AEX works and when I tried Skydragon I worked on it for close to 2 days trying to make it work. One of the options within the Skydragon settings was that I can choose the exact network to use. I chose LTE. After choosing LTE, in the settings it shows my phone number and my provider as Verizon but it says out of service under service state. The Verizon representatives told me on their end it shows that I am CDMAless and they did not have a solution.
I noticed in the Skydragon thread that some people were successful in getting their OP6T to work with Verizon but at least one other XDA member said he had no service.
Also, as I was in the process of switching back to AEX, I first went back to stock and booted up in stock and tried to make calls /send texts and it would not allow me to until I reflashed AEX.
What a nuisance. Since you're so familiar with flashing ROMs, maybe try some others, but I would first go back to stock again--completely back to stock, even if it means lowering your android version.
But follow the instructions very carefully--you may be in brick territory going back. I'd download the MSMTool just in case.
Good luck with whatever you do, if you don't stay on AEX.
