hi fellas...am using moto g4 plus. I've done bit research about playing games while charging the device with quick qualcomm charging 3.0 (turbo charging). dash charging in one plus 3 supports this kinda feature...and its battery and charger both are smart enough to throttle down the temp.
so what is my question is, can we play games or watch movies when the device is in charge (qualcomm quick charge 3.0, snapdragon 617 SOC)

As far as i know mostly all the phone with turbo power are smart enough that if the temp of phone rises then it will throttle down the amps flowing in.Well just if heating is not an issue for you then you can play games while plugged in but also another case will arise as the phone all over temp increase it also throttle down the performance of cpu,gpu to control temp and you will face lag/drop in fps in games.

i never heard this kinda heating alert in new snapdragon soc's unless third party monitoring app is installed. but as far as now, i found no issues !! even in the snapdragon qualcomm official page mentioned that, quick charge 3.0 is fast nof to charge mobiles when using Mobile to watch and play games even its in charge.
finally every soc which supports qualcomm quick charge 3.0, can play games while charging with no issues
U may also face the problem of ghost touch while using it with charger, common problem in g4 plus.

Seriously i haven't faced any issues. may be, new nougat soak test update wud ve fixed this issue....beside I've played nova 3 for exactly 43 mins with Bluetooth gamepad controller when the device ws in charge though, i haven't came across this ghost touch nor the device heated up ! after 43 mins my device temp was about 44 in the front and 44-45 deg at the back near camera...
am i the one gt this better device ?!!

After playing 25 minutes with a G2 I got a message that the brightness level was going to be automatically reduced to 90% from 100% due to overheating.
This was by just doing basic stuff like web browsing, 2 short YouTube videos, messaging, etc. No gaming at all.
How can the phone overheat just by doing basic stuff?
This reminds me about the overheating issue with the G Pad 8.3 too. LG said they didn't include the Snapdragon 800 due to overheating, and opted instead for the 600.
Who else has experienced the overheating issue? Please explain what where you doing.

I only experienced this when playing Dead Trigger 2 with the Ultra Graphics mod (most demanding game at the moment) and that was after like 15 minutes... it seems for you though that there is a slight problem with your phone, was it charging when doing this?
I had the same problem, the phone would just get randomly hot (as hot as 80°cpu lol), I gave it in for warranty service, it's still sitting there

Mine gets hot doing various tasks, but I just stop doing them and then it cools down and performance goes back to normal. Also different ROMS have different effects on it.

I've not experienced any overheating issues on my phone. It's really getting warm when it's charging and I can imagine that there will be some trouble if you charge your phone and are working with a very CPU demanding app.
The phone was not charging. Brightness at 100%.
Hello everyone, I recently purchased a new note 4 St N910C. Just after a day of usage I felt that it is getting hot when I play games on it. I closed all the background apps even resetted it but still no luck. My phone is getting heated up near the camera area. My question is that is this a hardware issue or a software one, because if it is a hardware issue I should try and get it replaced, if a software one I should better wait for a lollipop update.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks

Sorry for the late reply,
I installed a cpu temperature app, and it shows me that my cpu temperature is 36-38 degrees while playing games, also I noticed that after hearing up some of the games start to lag up a little. Any recommendations?

Well i bought this unit after along study of whether to get the exynos version or the snapdragon version, in my opinion I found the exynos to be better because many users suggested that this version does not heat up and works better, but now as I'm using it personally I think it heats up alot, the temperature I get is around 36-38 degrees.

Galaxy Note 4 heating [camera]
I purchased Galaxy Note 4 [SM-N910G] a week back. It's on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat)
I am having a different problem for which I could not find any satisfying solution on the Internet. Whenever I open camera app, the phone starts heating up near camera & battery also drains very quickly [around 2% under 5 min.]
I know that the phone will heat up a little bit when playing high graphics games, but I don't think it should heat up too much when using camera app.
I have already factory reset [both soft & hard reset] the phone, but still it does not help. I contacted Samsung support, & they told me to 'Reset app preferences' from Application manger, but still the device heats up when using camera app.
I also cleared data of the camera app, but still the issue remains
The phone does not heat up at all on standby mode, but opening camera app raises it's temperature more than it should. Previously a Note 2 user, this problem was not there.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue on Note 4 ? Any ideas on this ?
The phone heats up only if you're recording 4k or 2k video. If you use camera generally & your device heats up.You must get your device checked

You can factory reset all day, it won't help. Thats not a problem, the camera just uses a lot of processor power and thus generates heat. You can't change that, you have to live with it
My note 4 with ****y snapdragon heat like fire
I wanna replace it because of the overheating I can't something even hold it I put is always in freezer to cold it
With cpu temp app it gave me 60c even without games the :crying:best value was 40c but when I put it in freezer it down to 30c
And the weard thing that at the same time the cpu temperature app gave me 60c the cpu cooler app gave me 34c

Sorry, but do you have any idea about CPU temperatures? 60 isn't bad. 40 isn't bad. 30 isn't bad. Even 70° and occasionally 79° would be acceptable. Don't put your phone into the freezer, ity not good to freeze the hardware.. Especially if you literally have no problem. The CPU is prone to temperature fluctuations and your values are fully normal in the world of CPUs. There is no best value, everything up to 70° is the normal temperature variation. Your phone doesn't have a problem, its perfectly fine.
Mine actually heats up while charging and using at same time. Clean master shows 70-75°C cpu temperature while using browser and stuff but 80+ while gaming, that's not normal right? I'm worried cuz I always used my old phones while charging and they never got this hot, I feel like it will melt someday :/ In what temperatures exynos operates?
I got my SM-N910F yesterday and installed LP 5.0.1 via OTA. Temperatures are 40+ when the phone isnt doing anything. While I did the Antutu Benchmark, it was around 50-52 degrees (Celsius). Feels much warmer than my previous Note 3 (which of course never had LP). And since i am not used to this temparature on my Note 3, i kinda worry about the temps right now. I read a lot that many have that problem since LP update. So whats normal and what would be too high for regular usage (not using Camera or playing Games) ? Is there an average i can go by and compare ?
And whats my alternatives now if I want lower temps , go back to 4.4.4 Stock Rom (currently have LP 5.0.1 Stock) or do I try a 5.x Custom ROM . Did the Custom ROMS fixed these heating problems or is that just something I have to live with ?
Thanks for any help.

I honestly don't think it is. I had 3 G4s and they were all hot and glitchy. I honestly think it is the sd808. Back when I called Samsung about exchanged a note 4 developer edition the guy told me that snapdragon 808/810 were heat prone and they would not be using them for upcoming phones. That was before it was publicly known. I still think there is something awry with their latest processors. Even late batch sd805 had heat issues. My note 5 had zero signs of heat and my note 4 you really have to push to get hot. The g4 & moto x got hot texting or web browsing! I don't get it. Can't be a confidence that both are 808 processors and heat demons

I don't understand how it's so hard for them to make a chip not overheat. I mean this isn't the first, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th generation of chips. Perhaps custom kernels will allow us to throttle better?

Computers get hot, CPU's get hot, PC's and laptops have fans to keep them cool...cell phones do not. I do not believe that any cell phone will ever stay "cool" when doing CPU/GPU intensive tasks. That's just the way it is.
turbo charger will heat it up that is obvious but yes when you do stuff that uses lots of cpu/ram it will heat up a little same was with my note4 .
Mine only overheats when I am doing some heavy usage...I don't think "Overheat" is the right word, maybe just "gets warm". But over the weekend, I acquired a Samsung Galaxy S6 (in a trade for a different phone). When setting it up, it was getting hotter than the MXP ever got. I checked it with Gsam battery and it was 133 degrees and took about 30 minutes to cool down. My MXP gets hot, but cools down pretty quick.

It's the Media Scanner service. Because you added all that media from the Nexus 5 it had to be indexed. Once done, it will settle down and be OK.
This is some information I found in another thread:
"For each file and directory it finds it creates an entry in the so-called Android Media Store. For special file types like images, videos and music files it also scans for meta data like EXIF information for images and mp3 tags for music files. Applications may query the Media Store to find specific files bases on the file type or meta data. Well known applications that do so are the Gallery and the Music Player. Other applications may also do so.
The media scanner runs as a background service and is not visible to the user. "

OK back to answering you:
I see in your screen shot you have a different UI of the temp app then mine. That temp APK put the temp into an overlay (top of my screen in the screenshots) is there something different in yours then mine?
Are you using the same APK. Did I miss a step in your instructions?
I have owned the 710 and the 713 at the same time, although it was lollipop on the 710 and marshmallow on the 713, there was a heat issue with the 710's when charging. There was heat issues sing the 713 on this site and Facebook, hot top right on the back of the 713 tablet. There was hardly any complaints or feedbacks of people/owners of the 713 of this heat issue but one in a bestbuy review (facebook). My issue with heat was this site. This was about 11 months ago?
Concluded, don't use the Samsung get cable on the 710. Buy aftermarket. The guage of wit pretty was to thin . Use a different charger and cable. This seemed to cure some charging heat issues with the 710. I know your stating Temps of doing a benchmark, not charging. Just thought I would share that with your.
Now that I own the 713 again, I hardly see this getting hot (never on this site or facebook) but when charging and playing War Robots game. Only then do I experience Temps @84°C (rarely). It is odd, lastnight, using that temp APK you gave me, I was at 54°C in war robots. Now I'm curious what was going on with CPU-Z app.
I do experience heat around the charge port on the tablet on the back when charging but NOTHING like the 710 did. The 710 would get so hot, I had to put it down.
Infact, (10+months ago) I exchanged and bought from frys, bestbuy, barbes&Nobel the 710. Even different locations of best buy and frys, so about 25 710's! All the same heat issues. (At the charge port, backside, when charging).
I went into detail with Samsung for NINE months dealing with supervisors, remote access, in the Philippines, it escalated to the "Secretary of the President of Samsung get Corporate America". All resulted in an offer of $30.00 Samsung credit.
THEN the S'2 version 2 came out (because my issues with the heat started before the 713 came out), THEN Saamsung had the Note 7 issues.
Samsung has a history (in my experience) of battery/charging heat issues from the 710 era. I had 91°C on my 710.
710 when charging
713 serving Web sites (not charging)
Note 7 (no explanation needed)
Notice the Note you never appeared? @@
No one gives a sh*t at Samsung. ONLY until the FAA stopped the phones going on board did Samsung get pull the Note 7 and start checking into battery/heat issues.
I might be off topic, I might have EXACT facts wrong, that is the pattern I seen say.
I'll gladly help you with further testing.
The best Samsung Tablet to date I had was the tab S 8.4! Just wasn't that powerful as now devices are.

Actually the my T710 is pretty fast and never heats while charging however I have a redmi note 3 and it has snapdragon 650 which has just two less A72 cores than sd 652 so it never heated up while charging I recently flashed Franco kernel and I have fast charging enabled through it it charges that massive 4000mAh battery wicked fast!(Actually faster than my father's Note5 and S8+ even with lower battery capacities)
AND IT IS INSANE THAT AFTER REACHING 98C WHILE VIDEO EDITING IT STAYS THERE UNTIL THE VIDEO IS RENDERED AND THERE IS NO THERMAL THROTTLING!!!!!??

Om*g trying to reply to your comment, the page loads so many adds that it causes lag on typing on the keyboard. I have to hit refresh, wait for about 1 second and quickly hit the X to stop the loading of all the spam crap this site uses.
#respect to this site.
Just wasn't that powerful as now devices are.

actually yes..a bit ! better than before. but now a days heating became an common issue. Nougat update reduced heat ! but device heats up while charging is actually normal. its coz of fast charging ! the device charge rapidly. when the battery gets over heated voltage for charging becomes normal and the rate for charging will also be normal. and that is why till 75% device will charge quickly and after that to reach 100% it takes some time...dont worry be cool
Mine is MotoG4 Plus
