Back to home screen in not rooted device - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi, I've just bought a new s7 edge. I was on rooted note 2 but I don't want to root my s7 for the first 6 months at least.
How to get back to home screen without using the home button?
Thank you

Check out easyHome - fingerprint action app on Google play. It does exactly what your need

I have no idea. But why would someone want to go back to home screen without pressing the home button?

Ok. Very thank you. I meanwhile found a way out by using soft keys panel tag edge.
But your way is able to let me turn off the screen with no use of buttons and out of settings I choosed.
Thank you again [emoji106] [emoji6]

[Q] Double pressing sound when pressing the Menu icon?

Just to clear this up, this happens just on custom roms I've tried. EVERY single custom rom I've tried actually, and it's 4 of them.
Pressing the Menu button on the nav. bar produces TWO click sounds (sometimes consequent, other times on top of each other) EVERY single time I press it. Now I'm on SmoothRom 3.1, still the same. The same happened on ParanoidAndroid, CodenameAndroid, EOS 3. Any ideas? Does anyone else experience this? (EDIT: This also happens on apps that have a built in menu icon, such as Pinterest)
I'm on stock and I've the same issue especially with tapatalk menu button..

I updated to a stock 4.1.2 rom and this hasn't been fixed... Damn
This is really bugging me... Now I'm on cm10 latest nightly, and it seems the same glitch occurs when you add a traditional menu button (like the Nexus S one) on the nav. bar. Also, bump.

[Q] How to Disable Button to increase reliability?

How do I disable the back and option button in Samsung Galaxy S4 on unrooted device?
I also realize that by doing this, the soft button (back, option and home) will resurface on the screen that will make the screen no longer a 4.99".
But this back button has been bothering me for a while now, especially when showing some stuff on my phone to friends, where I or others 'accidentally' touch it and change the screens to other things that i might not want to share with them.
Thanks.
As far I know you can't do that, be careful with management of your phone,I don't have problem with that keys

You need to root for sure- and probably modify some files...
Remember it IS possible should be... Though depends even on what ROM you use.
On unrooted device answer definetly one - you can NOT.
Impossible on an unrooted device so you might have to flash cf root in odin first.
I've done it on an S2 & S3 before so no reason why it wouldn't work on the S4 as well.
To enable the on-screen navigation buttons:
Use a file explorer (like Root Explorer) to navigate to
/system/build.prop
and open the file with a text editor. Add the line
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
at the end of the file. Save and close. Reboot. Done.

If you easily accidentally touch the soft button then what can prevent you to not accidentally touch the onscreen button?

My thoughts exactly. It will make the problem 10 times worse I'm sure.

Xda app no menu button

Ok so i got my edge plus yesterday. Been using the regular s6 for a few months now and in the xda app there is a actual menu button with 3 dots that kinda hovers down at the bottom. Well on my plus it isnt there. Cant figure out how to being up the menu. If i hold back with a longpress it just starts backing out. Holding home brings up google now. And holding the task brings up multiwindow.
My problem is i cant bring up the menu to create a new thread. Thats why im posting this on my s6 rather than my edge.
Is it something simple im just overlooking?

I'm having the same issue! I've yet to figure out a workaround. I have a lot of threads I want to start!

Dis you guys try to uninstall and install again? Im using XDA premium 4 and everything is awesome here
Yeah I have the same issue. One thing you can do though (not a permanent solution) is to go to accessibility settings and then add that hovering extra button and in that way you can access the menu button.

Long press back button?

I wrote about this over in the Note 5 forum. Nonfiction except to use the XDA premium app, which I think is inferior.
Actually the sad thing is that there's so little one can do to the locked device that I stuck to the free version and it doesnt matter as I hardly have a need to create new forums like the old days (where are you now, HD2???).

Here is the temp fix guys the problem is a lot of apps detect if there is a hardware menu button and omit showing the soft 3 dot button common in a lot of apps. The S5 has no dedicated menu button but it does have the long press home button option to launch the More options/Menu button, however out Galaxy S6 models do not have this option. BUT some apps still detect it and delete their in app button.
Here is the fix I figured out that works in this situation and it would be good to pass this on or write up a document.
Go to phone settings => Accessibility => Dexterity and interaction => Assistant Menu.
At the top right slide the off button to on to enable the Assistant menu icon on all screens. Then click on the Edit option. In the edit menu deselect all the buttons you do not need by hitting the red negative on the icons (-) in the upper part of the screen. (note it has two buttons that you cannot remove Home Screen, and Menu Settings) on the bottom half of the page hit the green plus sign (+) on the More Options button (It has 3 dots).
Now on all screens is a little round button with 4 dots on it, it appears on all screens in all programs and is floating. There is the More options button now which is the software menu button we are missing =). You can just go back and disable Assistant menu afterward or like me leave this handy button on because I have multiple programs that do this.
Hope this helps guys Cheers!
Long pressing back key brings up menu in most of the Apps

Yeah I tried that it did not work in the app that I run that I could not get to the menu with, I will try another program and see if I can get that to work. I also tried many of the other options I could find through the searches. See the reply above mine in this thread.

White circle under my finger when touching screen

I've just noticed a white circle appears wherever I touch my screen on my S7 Edge.
How do I disable it?
Maybe in accessibility options

S7 haptic feedback

Good day, I have an s7 edge with android n. Recently haptic feedback doesn't work correctly: when I write something with keyboard I receive vibration as usual, but if I press back menu or select text I doesn't receive feedback. Anyone else has same issue?
Thanks for support [emoji1]

These are two different things. For haptic feedback on the buttons, go to Settings - Sound and Vibrations and check under System section if "Vibration feedback" is on. For the keyboard you have another setting under the "Key-Tap Feedback" section
Note: this is valid for Nougat
