Does anyone have Viper4android or Arise running on their rooted phone? If so, is there any issues with music app or Google play music?
I'm also curious as to whether this works or not, at this stage of development. I would try it personally, but I won't have access to a suitable PC till Wednesday (only have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 running Arch right now).
Does/has anyone been the guniea pig tried to loud ARISE or Viper4Android yet? Any input would be appreciated! Please also let us know if you have SELinux permissive or enforce and if it works inline with the HiFi mode. Any info would be awesome.

A little late, but yeah...I've got ZERO issues with Google Play Music and Viper4Android. I actually had issues on Spotify...sometimes it'd work, other times, no dice.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/app-divinebeats-sound-master-phone-sony-t3274355 is the only version that works for me with no issue.
Use the new viper4arise + aroma
Fixed all our issuss on ls997.
Viper4android required mods or using the custom version for nougat. It was produced by guitarhero.
The arise platform superseeds viper4android.
Some of the addons for viper4arise wont work without some edits. Make sure to read the prequists in viper4arise.
As well i didnt need to set selinux to permissive on either version in the aroma installer. This is a huge plus for security purposes.

Working config for me with each step included (relevant or not, just in case)
Dirty flashed rom to remove traces of v4a (Using Venom)
Installed busybox and xposed
Flashed Metaspook's V4A-MK latest and kernel (Elite)
Booted and gave V4A-MK superuser permissions
Installed driver through V4A-MK
Immediately (soft) rebooted
TO MAKE IRS FILES WORK YOU MUST GO TO SETTINGS>APPS>V4A-MK AND GIVE IT STORAGE PERMISSIONS
V4A was working for me after this, but I do not take responsibility if it does not work for you.
I recommend Dolby atmos 6.6 also made by @ahrion.
I believe the link is in the Original HTC10 audio thread as well.
Also ViperAudio. 4.8 and ViperAtmos. 4.8 by guitarededhero, and others that contributed and tested to make those go to mods for me.
Viper's I mentioned can be found on xda, software development forum. Feel free to link below.

Would be great to have the best sound available. Is there maybe a custom ROM for HTC 10 with integrated Viper4Android sound mod ?
I know to unlock bootloader, root, flash rom etc.

Anyone here uses external USB DAC with their V4A?
I haven't tried a USB dad but I want to. On that note the hdmi output works perfectly. All our TV's have built in days and also sounbars and recievers. Why there is no stand alone dads that I can find with hdmi input I am really not sure. Dies hdmi have better audio than USB I do not know either but sounds damn fine to me. If you just want to had a separate headphone dac/amp then I think any with an xmos processor will work. Also the soundblaster E5 sounds pretty good and should connect.

were you getting force closes, freezes etc? i think it is either due to busybox or init.d support, the v4amk thread has links to flashable zips for both and after flashing them both it stopped those problems, not sure exactly what it was though.

And this.
I prefer running using Magisk v6 with the viper4 addon but Numbers is excellent as well, just waiting for WETA to support Magisk a little more cleanly before I head back to it. But if you don't use Android Pay or similar or for some other reason care about Magisk then WETA will get you up and running REALLY quickly with a great Nougat build. And it works fine with Magisk to a great extent, just a couple minor picayunes that I'm hoping will go away with time.:good:
Arise is basically Viper with Dolby Atmos. Tbh Viper is too much for me, as long as Dolby is working on stock N that has enough of an effect ,'m good to go But if you look back in the Arise thread, maybe back a week or so, i made a post saying that I finally got Viper/Dolby including SPEAKER See Speaker was something I was struggling to get to work on stock N with things like Spotify, play music, YouTube, even notifications, and some other things... basically every sound that comes out of the speakers except phone calls, unless it was via Bluetooth. Bluetooth was working overall, headphones were working overall and I even somehow found out locally stored music was working with speaker, but not those other things I had previously mentioned, was so weird. And of course it made it even more confusing bec some N users were saying it was fully working and others were in my situation.
That was until I found a post by user @SixFourSix he said to add/edit this certain file in system/etc . I went ahead and did that and after weeks of struggling, I had finally figured it out thanks to his tip. Everything was working with Viper and Atmos, those things I mentioned, except for one thing, phone calls, with Bluetooth I'm pretty sure it has an effect, but anything else with calls, for some reason, no. Don't know why. And I hadn't seen anyone comment on why. Maybe Arise isn't supposed to do that.
Yeah so go back to my posts in the Arise thread if you'd like, you'll see exactly what I mean.
Good luck

I'm trying to get Viper to work with Magisk,
I tried the zip from the magisk modules thread but it's asking me to install drivers at launch (which I didn't). Also tried selinux to permissive and force v4a, but didn't get it to process the audio. I also freezed music fx, but still wasn't getting anything.
I was running a song from SoundCloud to see if v4a was working

Honestly this is the main reason to understand my "love and hate" relationship with the stock rom. It's great, in terms of performance is even better than any custom rom i've used, but i tried every single method to get ViperFX working here, and i couldn't, always shows 'Processing: no' in driver status.
Regarding to your question Dolby Atmos is working. but i personally think that it's nothing compared to ViperFX.

To quote my response, hope this helps:
Ok here's what I did:
- make sure any previous version of Viper is removed (I had an issue where I'd installed a version over another and it messed my sound up in that even on the lowest volume step it was playing full volume!). I used one of the viper with the aroma and chose uninstall. Then I used Titanium Backup to search for viper and removed another that way.
- flash this version:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634776829
- if you don't have the Viper app appear then flash an apk of one. I used the pure black from from here (open up the zip and I used the 2.5.0.5 version):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6OgctcRCMJvdUpSTnZYazhpM2s/view
I'm not sure if I'm just being picky, but I swear that this sound doesn't sound as good as previous setups. Though this is the first version that just works - as previously I needed to use compatibility mode for Spotify and to avoid issues, such as when I would play via Spotify, then load Poweramp whilst playing, it would silence Spotify resulting in me needing to kill both apps in order to resume audio.
Good luck!

Im having this issue as well. Had viper4android on my s7 edge and it was much louder with alot more bass. Very disappointing. Cant figure out why its not as loud as the s7 edge. Any tips on how to boost volume. I'm connecting to Bluetooth in my car on a s8 plus.
Of late, I have been going back and forth of G5 plus stock ROM and many of the custom PIE roms and have immediately noticed that the sound quality in the stock is so much clear and crisp. All the custom ROMs claim to use the Oreo firmware. My question is that is not the sound/volume setup not part of the firmware? If so, why is there a significant difference in the PIE versus stock ROM? Can anybody please help me understand what I am missing?
Well most of the custom roms have a bit of a volume boost on headphones. Didn't really check the speaker. The sound is also affected by the kernel sometimes as some kernels do have sound tweaks. If you are on a custom rom then you should definitely try viper4android. It's available as a magisk module or you can get a flashable zip too. You can tweak the sound in a way you like. It offers a lot of customisations.
