Original Yotaphone 2 Bumper Case - YotaPhone

I have found a supplier of the Original Yotaphone 2 Bumper Case.
http://www.ebay.com/usr/2hfg9w
I have been looking to purchase an original Yotaphone Bumper Case for some time, after hearing that the aluminium ones effect GPS and WiFi signal. I tried a cheap silicone one, but it does not fit properly.
I am really happy with the original bumper, I am not affiliated with the seller. I am just happy to be able to protect my device from the demands of everyday life, in a way that does not destroy the aesthetics of the phone.

Not for sale anymore.
Edit: Back on sale but only red and blue bumpers available. Would hope to find a black one.

It is for sale at the moment - please check now

This Original bumper is 30 dollars For A Silicon Bumper, a quarter the price of a new yotaphone 2 from China, containing complex circuitry, OLED, camera, e-ink screen. All for a silicon Bumper Made In the Same Factory As my Bumper Costing 1.37 Dollars.
If Your bumper Does Not Fit, There Are Ways Of Shrinking it, google It !

Does these supplier ship their products globally, or just for several countries? I lived in Indonesia and I definitely want one 'cuz it's hard to find a great Yotaphone case here. In many stores across the country, I only found either aluminum case, softgel case, or any of those Chinese third party case, and I didn't liked it. The OEM (Yota branded) case is better looking, even though it comes with a higher price.

Russians Are great at маскировка.

I use a Universal Phone Bumper, DIY a bit and it fits Yotaphone very well Also it's very cheap. Check the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjM7DY3M7bQ

What about the holes for charging cable, speaker , volume rocker and jack at top though ? Any hole made in a stretched bumper will not last 1 hour.

I belive you could make the holes with something that burn, like a red nail heated

Guys, the problem is that Yota is selling their phones cheaper than the prime cost price - and to lower the losses it has to sell accessories more expensive than usual. And, by the way, how much does original iPhone cases cost? even more expensive... so, have a look please http://www.ebay.com/itm/YotaPhone-2...ota-Devices-Russia-9H-Protector-/311786675721

Case ....

I want a nice all over protective leather case for the HD2 ... I just don't feel comfortable taking out without one.
The only decent ones I see are the Piel Frama ones ...
Sadly the one that Expansys do is the (in my opinion) pig ugly iMagnum one
http://www.pielframa.com/htc-touch-hd-2-imagnum-cases.htm
This one not only looks a little industrial / hard / smooth ... but it isn't clear how it grips the device.
The Classic looks perfect ... but I can't find it in the UK ... and it's very pricey direct.
It covers nearly all the sides, clearly grips the device safely all over ... and it looks elegant.
http://www.pielframa.com/htc-touch-hd-2-tan-cases.htm
Anyone got any other ideas ?
Pielframa
I just got my PielFrama Case for 70 Euros shipped to Thailand, it's a classic one with black-tan color, It also looks so perfect. The one I got looks exactly like the following link :
http://www.pielframa.com/htc-touch-hd-2-blacktan-cases.htm
Will share some pics as soon as the phone arrives Thailand.
I believe any Toshiba TG01 case should fit perfectly. Obviously except silicon ones...
I know Piel Frama are expensive but are excellent quality and you get great service from them. I had one for my HD, it split at the bottom and I could not remember where I bought it. I contacted Piel Frama and within a week I had a replacement....FOC.
I like the custom version where you can choose colour and have text added, but £90!!
What's wrong with the original leather case?
It kind of like apple's, but stylish...
I ordered the Classic Piel Frama in black direct. There is a 10 day production delay which is a pain ... but it is clearly the best on the market ... it covers ever edge yet still exposes the rocker, USB, 3.5mm jack, camera, flash, ear phone and speaker.
The slip case that came with it was too tight. I know it would loosen ... but given that the smallest bit of grit in a case that tight would leave the most appalling mark, it wasn't worth the risk. I also need in protected all the time ... and I need it on my belt ... personal needs, but important for me.
Got the pair of HTC protectors yesterday. Will put one on at the weekend.
Paul.
You not able to discuss this on the Leo accessories board?
It's there for a reason you know.

UK accessory supplier?

Morning all,
To all you UK oppo find 5 owners (I'm assuming I'm not the only one!) - have any of you come across a UK supplier selling accessories? I bought a case from ebay but it's coming from China and will take about 2 weeks to arrive. I quite fancy the flip cover being sold on oppo's official site but I think 35 Euros (includes delivery) is a bit steep.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Much the same as you unfortunately. I ordered a couple of cheap Nilkin (knockoff?) cases from eBay 2 weeks ago but still not received them. They don't protect the top and bottom so are really just for rear scratch prevention.
Yesterday I looked at loads on Aliexpres (China suppliers) and grabbed a rubbery TPU that at least covers all sides and has a little bit of impact protection. I've also gone for a couple of those Aluminium (read signal killer!) cases as they were on offer for£22~ delivered compared to other places like Taobao agents or Casefanatic where the price is almost double.
Not sure we'll ever see UK sellers unless it's at inflated prices given it's not a mainstream phone. Might do a mini-round-up when/if they all arrive as it's hard to tell from just pics.
Here's my list...not really expecting any of them to be perfect. :cyclops:
eBay Nilkin
Alu case (ordered 1 black and 1 silver)
Plastic red snap-on (no idea if this will be decent or not)
TPU stretchy thing (might be good for grip with pattern?)
Bit of a shot in the dark with those but don't really see the Easy Cover worth the price given the top/bottom are exposed and I'm not a fan of wallet-type cases.

"Triple Armor Hybrid Case" Opinions? (Ballistic SG Knock Off?)

So I was surfing on ebay for a rugged case for my n4
I ran by this...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triple-Armo...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item5d43674502
It seems like a ballistic sg knock off but at a lower price
comes with screen protectors too if that matters for anyone...
Does ANYONE have any experience with this case? If so, please let us know!
Otherwise I'm going to order a Ballistic SG this week.....

I would order that ebay one instead of the SG.
I had the SG and it wasn't worth the money. The problem with it is that the silicone isn't a perfect fit so the nexus 4 slides up and down a bit. The plastic piece that goes over the inner silicone cover occasionally comes undone a bit (it's hard to describe exactly) which leads to more sliding of the nexus. The plastic piece doesn't stay on as well as I'd hoped because the silicon is too soft to let it really clamp on well.
That ebay one is much cheaper and appears to be basically the same.
The case I have now and would really recommend is the mybatt. In addition to a back plastic clamp on piece, it also has a front screen side snap on piece so its inner silicon layer is sandwiched securely. I haven't had any sliding issues like I did with the Ballistic. Here's a review someone did on the mybatt: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120148
It does come in a couple different colors. I have the all black one because I thought the white might get stained with dirt.

Thanks for your opinion!
I went ahead and bought it on Amazon through a third party for almost $6! (CHEAP price IMO) Ebay had it for 9 bucks :victory:
I read some reviews of it. It seems like people had a mix problem with the sensor cut out. Do you have any problems of your own or any cons you want to bring up?

I personally didn't have that problem. It seems to have mainly been on the first few versions of it that came out. People didn't mention that issue as much after it had been out for awhile. I just got mine about a month and it's been fine.

I do wish Gumdrop made a N4 case though.

[q] bumper case

Has any one found a bumper case for the yotphone 2 yet
some retailers including yota are providing them free with handset
yota customer services wont stipulate where from but just keep watching for any news. internet search doesnt show any one yet providing them . would be usefull!!!!
I got mine as part of a promotion for orders during most of January. As you say, some retailers are selling them along with the handset. Have you tried asking the facebook page? They seem pretty good with answering questions.
sorry but no face book or any other social network member, guess i will have to wait for yota or someone to enlighten me
Fair enough. Sorry then dude, hope they start being sold separately eventually for you.
Just thought would mention that the bumper is for sale on the yota website now. It may have been a while but just a heads up for those still looking for one.

I Bought an aluminium one on eBay. Short review and some pics:
- fit is OK, no slack
- finish looks OK, mine is matte black
- protrudes a bit to the front and the back (so the device does not lie on the glass when put down on a perfectly flat surface)
- edges are quite sharp, might leave marks on the case in due time. bumper has some soft tape on the inside, but that doesn't cover the sharp edges. The hole in the bottom for USB and microphone has these sharp edges too, not comfortable as I usually support the phone with my pinky there.
- adds about 2mm in width and 3mm in length to the phone. (7.2 x 14.8 cm with bumper, 7 x 14.5 cm without). Not too bad, but you can feel the difference initially.
- buttons can be operated OK, although power button does not stick out that much.
- small clasp in the corner
All in all not bad for a couple of dollars. I don't own the bumper as sold by Yota Devices, so I can't compare it.
Hopefully it will absorb some impact when falling on the floor too, but I will leave that part to someone else to review.
edit 1: some additions after 2 weeks of use:
- There seems to be some impact on reception. In an area with low signal strength, the bumper seems to cause the connection to become unstable/drop. Removing the bumper restores the connection. In good reception areas it's harder to note the impact.
- The sharp edges at the bottom are annoying me, I'll have to smooth them out, or lose the bumper.
- No scratches (yet) on the phone though from the bumper
edit 2: Don't know how I missed this earlier, but GPS reception is heavily impacted by this bumper
I went for a run yesterday, and my Endomondo app could not get a good lock. The map only showed approximate location, but it wouldn't start recording my run based on that. After 15 minutes still no lock, until I thought of the bumper. Removed it, and got a solid lock after 3 seconds...
Will the phone get scratches after use. Or r the ruff edges away from The device

I've only received it today, so can't comment on long-term use, but the sharp edges are on the inside as well. The little review above is mainly positive in the price/value department, the Yota Devices bumper might be higher quality.
Someone care to review the Yota bumper here?

I have a bumper case which came with the device but I don't know if it's from yotaphone. The bumper feels like silicone to me may be it's gel. I prefer gel cases. It feels flimsy.
I have the rubber bumper from yota itself, nice thing.
happy with it for 15usd
Yota Bumper
My "official" Yota Phone bumper arrived, here's a short review:
Material:
Not sure what the material is called, but it's like a matte rubber, but less flexible than rubber, thougher. It's somewhat grippy, but not too much. Doesn't feel like gel or silicone to me.
Dimensions:
It adds 2 mm in width, and 3 mm in length to the phone (just like the aluminium one). It fits nicely, altough the sides are slightly 'floppy', you can stretch it away from the phone easily. I can imagine that only getting slighty worse, not better over time.
features:
The bumper does not have 'real' plastic or metal buttons, buttons are just molded into the rubber. The back side has a thicker rim than the front.
Comparison with the aluminium one:
I have to say the cheap aluminium case looks slightly more classy to me, a bit more svelte, with nice paint & real buttons. It does have a small buckle, which some may find distracting.
The rubbery Yota one looks a bit more ordinary, less luxurious, to my taste. However the aluminium one does have practical drawbacks: sharp edges (especially annoying on the bottom opening), impact on reception (both mobile and particularly GPS, see below), and it might scratch the device at some time, although I haven't seen that in a few weeks of use.
The metal one takes a bit more care to put on, to prevent scratches, the rubber Yota one slips on in a second.
BTW: I updated the aluminium bumper review to mention poor GPS reception

Agreed, This looks like the bumper you can get from the Russian yotaphone store... they even do it in different colours

Does anyone know how to obtain the official yota bumper if one does not live in the UK or Russia (I am in Canada)? I have contacted the UK yota store but they will not ship outside of the UK. I cannot find it anywhere else with the usual online dealers (clove, expansys, ...). Thanks.

It's sold in other countries too (I purchased mine from the French Yotaphone website), but this will be of limited benefit to you until they add Canada/USA to the list... (on a side note, anyone knows when the North America Indigogo campaign ends, and when the phone will be officially launched there?)
If you want, I have a trip planned to Canada in late August, I can certainly purchase one and either hand it to you if you live close to Montreal, or post it from there using local post services if you're too far away (Canada is definitely a biiig country).
Let me know if you're interested.

E ink screen shattered

Hi everyone,
Phone dropped from very low height, front screen ok, e ink screen in 1000 little pieces...
I am in Netherlands, where could I order new screen repair set or have it fixed? Thoughts or suggestions anyone?
Thanks!
I'd try Yota support first. You'll probably have to send it in, and the price will likely be close to that of a second hand or even new YP.
Did you check if it is insured in any way? Maybe you used a creditcard with insurance to purchase it?
It definitely sucks to be you in this situation, but if your phone is actually open on one side now: maybe you can post some pictures of the internals?
No credit card unfortunately, online retailer to big to care, yotaphone only has support in Germany I think, I'll post shots of the back of the phone soon
I feel for you dude
The shattered back, should be easy to replace no?
Probably won't be easy/cheap if the gorilla glass is bonded to the EPD, then both will have to be replaced. Did you inquire with Yota support yet?
If the EPD screen is still kind of working, and you can't get the phone repaired, you can't sell it off, and it's constantly annoying you by taking up precious space on your desk, it could always have a second life as a development phone. </vulture mode>

Now I feel bad for even mentioning it. Broken or not, it's entirely upto jmreijnen what he wants to do with his device, most likely try to get it fixed first. My hint was: in the unlikely event that you're about to toss it away or let it collect dust till eternity, there could be another use for it.
Hopefully it can be fixed for a reasonable fee. I couldn't find an official list of Yota service centers, but Yota support should be able to provide it. If Germany has one, that might not be a bad option to send it to from The Netherlands.
Well, currently it is in its case, on a pile of other cases, but yes, will probably try via Yota, ink screen is working fine btw...

Good luck, keep us posted, would be good to know what Yota or Yota's partners charge for a repair like this.
BTW: I was pretty close to your situation this weekend: my phone slipped from my hand in a parking lot, was saved by Yota's bumper.
Careful! It was a very low drop that killed it for me. No word from Yota or the German repair partner, nothing.
I broke the AMOLED screen of my second yota 2 a week after it arrived.... On its first proper day out of the house. 70cm drop onto fine gravel car park. Completely shattered the screen. It continued working but after a few days the glass started crumbling apart.
I emailed both my supplier and yota support. Took a week to get a reply from supplier, a couple of days from yota. I told both that I wasn't happy with supposed gorilla glass covered screen shattering like that. My old s2 had survived various falls on a range of surfaces without ever breaking.
After a week of emails my supplier confirmed the screen would be replaced under warranty but I'd not be able to make other warranty claims on screen after replacement. It was the first screen my supplier had to replace. Took a fortnight. I had to pay transport and labour costs. Totalled about $250 Australian in March.
Response times were very slow but they did get it fixed for what I thought was a reasonable price. (Still about 30% of what I paid for it) Cheaper than another phone anyway.
My supplier was Hong Kong based drop shipper: Expansys.
Good luck.
On German Amazon there is a review of a guy who had the same problem. The service allegedly asked for around 400 Euros to fix the phone, which is harsh considering you can buy a used one on ebay for around 450 Euros and new ones with full warranty for about 520-550 Euros...
But I don´t know if it´s true! Contact
www.datrepair.de

and they should give you a fair quote on the issue.
You might want to check out the new Siswoo R9 phone with e-ink back screen as well, it retails for about 350-400 Euros on AliExpress, but I wouldn´t expect the same level of Software and Widget expertise the people from Yota put into their phone. One of the main reasons I still would´t switch to other companies is the professional software service of Yota. From what I saw, the cheaper models coming out now (like the Oukitel U6 for around 200 Euros) all use the same software options you can get with an InkCase - and their software simply s*cks. Almost no options apart from some basic notifications and the mirroring of some pictures or a book, that´s it. My Yota is the Prince of Sophistication, compared to that
In Switzerland repairing the phone should cost about 200 swiss francs (with an iPhone 4 as temporal replacement) - I'm now waiting for about 3 weeks, but since I didn't get any further notice I suppose (respectively I hope) it will for sure be below the upper limit of 250 swiss francs I specified.

@jmreijnen
hi there, Did you replace the E-Ink screen? I broke my LCD and can't find any replacement, besides the official datrepair.de who want to charge 200€ for the repair. That's too much. I already opened it and it's quite easy to replace the E-Ink. Just be aware that there is a screw just right from the micro usb (LCD at the top). It's hidden behind a rubber part that you can remove with a thin screwdriver just by lifting the rubber at the side of the micro USB. If you don't remove that screw, the frame of the e-ink will bend.
Why am I writing this? Well, I would need a YP2 with an intact front screen to repair mine. Would you like to sell yours? If yes, drop me a PM.

Hey @lumosimann, where in Switzerland did you get that quote?
@DeGon: So the 200 swiss francs were given by mobiletouch.ch as an estimate for repairing the front site. Finally I decided also to repair the little fracture on the back which finally cost 312 swiss francs, but now it looks as it'd be new.
repair took 7 weeks - but I was given a temporal replacement.

The back of my HK supplied yotaphone is supposed to gorilla glass but feels like very thin plastic to me. The other AMOLED side (gorilla glass) seems to scratch very easily too. Both sides seem to be not very strong. Has anyone else thought this? Maybe fakes?
The EPD screen is very very thin and curved, it doesn't seem like Gorilla glass to me. I bet replacement costs big bucks.

My second Yotaphone 2 in family. E-Ink screen already arrived in box broken on yp206 from Aliexpress. To me it looks like ordinary glass that is used on cheap chineese models such as Oukitel C3 etc. Gorilla glass cant be broken just by a little harsh transport (Box is in good shape). Not crushed. Whats more, due to the fact that this cheap off glass is curved on sides it probably has some serious inner tension. Looks like post manufacture model made in different factory. I know the phone is beautiful and all but but seriously watch out. I already filled a dispute but arrogant chineese seller want to blame me.
