HTC One vs Samsung Galaxy S4: LTE speed test

Hi all, for those of you interested, I shot a video comparison between the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) dealing with LTE speed.
I used speedtest.net using both devices with the same carrier's sim (H3G).
Well, I guess both of them are quite fast!

Here I am, it took me three days before being able to tell you a more accurate result.
Well, I've just repeated for the third time in 3 days the Speedtestnet using HSPA+ connection.
The results, apart for the numbers (which may vary from time to time, place, etc) should tell you how this two devices behave on HSPA+.
Once more, the tests were performed using the same carrier, at the same time.
S4: max 19mbps Download speed -- max 3mbps Upload speed
One: max 20mbps Download speed -- max 4mbps upload speed
Well, leaving aside the maximum achieved value for each device, I can tell you that in any round the HTC One scored a litlle bit more than the S4 both in download speed and in upload speed.

Thanks a lot for your tests. I'm not surprised that One is faster on HSDPA than SGS4 because the singnal strength is the best I've seen on the phone.

All in all. Both are potent devices. But i prefer htc over samsungs plastic fantastic any day of the week. imo its a matter of taste. Just like with if u prefer mac or pc. Sorta.

The 4.5 inches kills it for me, after the note 2 every phone under 5-inch seems so small...

Well it's still under a year away, so specs are probably not final, + I honestly think 4gb of ram would be probably be the most during that time. The processer, as specified, would be one of the strongest during that time. The camera is only 8 megapixel with low light. The resolution is sadly only 720p (over 300ppi atleast) but the screen is scratch resistant, or so the video says.

I would have bought two last night, but I held my missus s3 for five minutes, thought about my life, my needs for May '14, looked back at how tiny, tiny her screen is and remembered how even smaller the Edge is, and finally thought, no chance.
Def. Worth more than the $600 /£400 price tag available yesterday - great fleabay item, if I hadn't just bought a pool table I'd have made the investment.

You guys get it wrong. This is not yet another Android smartphone competitor.
This is an Ubuntu PC that also runs Android.
I'm sure everything will be open source, unlike Samsung and HTC. So I think it'll be fully compatible with CyanogenMod.

I've taken a punt on it - not convinced they will meet their $32million target but they will get close. I know 14 may is a long way away but it will probably beat htc and Samsung to the market.
Wouldn't be surprised if its htc they have lined up to make it for them.
Htc did a good job on the x1 for sony - then put it in a different package and called it a touch pro. Same with google nexus and the desire.
Wouldn't be surprised if the ubuntu edge is just next years flagship htc in different clothing.

I got in at $675 for the Ubuntu Edge. I'd love it if HTC makes it, as I now have the HTC One as my daily driver and couldn't be happier.

Just because I think something doesn't make it right. And just because someone else thinks something else on the same issue does not make them wrong. Just got my S5 2 days ago and I don't like it came from note 2 and the battery is horrible. Camera sometimes takes forever to focus. I was thinking of z2 is it worth a switch? Or get something else? Thanks

That isn't much time, give it two weeks at least and many more recharge cycles.
How high is your screen brightness set to ? auto or some fixed value.
Going outdoors in auto will boost brightness a lot, this will kill the battery much faster but at least you will be able to see the screen unlike others.

I came from Galaxy Note 3 to Xperia Z2 and I can really recommend it. Battery life has been better for me on Sony and other than that you get bonuses only, premium design, stereo speakers (although a bit silent), water resistant, very good camera, lightweight Android skin from Sony etc.
I would recommend.

I loved my Note 2, the Note 3 was even better, but I tired of Samsung TouchWiz. I just got my Z2 and appreciate Song's minimalistic skin. The Z2 has a lot of great things going for it!

Battery wise it's really great while camera wise it has a really sharp look and a physical camera button

This! The number of times I've used my phone when out about, friends or acquaintances have asked me what phone it is often saying they've never seen it and that it looks amazing.

I have z2 and taking photos they were never blurred in the background. Did they clean the lens from fingerprints. Total fake or old software. As also the kidding sharpness of sgs 5.Tried them both in same occasion and place. Z2 was not far worse than S5 but still a first class in compact cams, and hits perfectly clear macro scene, next time use a cam holder if you have shaky hands.

Z2 is much better than S5
I've had S5 then I bought Z2 later..
Z2 is much better in everything except the camera flash and the smaller bezel
2 GB ram of S5 is too much stupid... even with greenify..
mali 628 gpu is laggy
AMOLED screen drain much battery in white color.. you have to use dark mod apps
I had Iphone 5s, htc m8 and Z2.. Z2 is the best

I Just got an iphone 8 plus ?

20 minutes later my SIM is back again in my S8. Heading to the store to return the 8 plus. Would never make this mistake again.

Everyone is talking about the bionic a11 chip and really whats the point of having a speedy chip with slow animation and scrolling, .IOS 11 is really bad. when u use it u really appreciate android much more. Having the IOS slow stock animation in the 8 plus actually makes the S8 look/feel much faster. Apps open faster cause of this. Keeping my s8 maybe until S9

I have a new Note 8 (Just sold the S8+) but bought an Apple Watch series 3 GPS only. I have an old iPhone 6+ to be able to setup the watch. I going to use this watch standalone.
I will not put my SIM back in the iPh6+ just to use the watch.
It was the Galaxy S7 Edge that drew me away from iPhone. I have both iPhone and Samsung phones over the years but remember how much I can't stand iOS and iphones now after using them for watch setup.
UGH! The Note 8 for me is now the best phone ever. My S8+ was fantastic too but I missed the stylus and features that went with it.

Anyone else disappointed with the Note 10? Was planning in trading in my s10+ if there was a 1tb option but now I dont think I will and I'm thinking of going to One Plus

Yes, I think I'm going back to oneplus too.
I had the 6t McLaren then got the 10+ and was waiting for the note 10+, but I'm not really impressed.
Also the ****ty battery life on Samsung lead me to the decision, to probably go for the oneplus 7t pro.

Most reviews say s10+ battery life is better than op7pro, but yes I have a note 10+ sitting back in the box awaiting return because I actually feel like I'm downgrading from s10+

What are your biggest cons? My biggest is the no upgraded CPU. It's the same phone as the S10+ in a different body, or so it seems. I was thinking about switching but would like your opinion.

The Exynos 9825 version that ships with the international version is actually an upgraded processor (7nm process) vs. the 9820 although some benchmarks had it performing worse than the 9820 (8nm process). Seems like anyone who got one will have to wait for Sammy to optimize its software. Of course, there’s a slightly bigger screen. Not certain if the battery’s bigger, though.
I actually owned an Int’l. Note10+ for 3 hours yesterday as part of a carrier promotion to retain my mobile plan — but I decided to just flip it (unopened) straight up for an 11” iPad Pro with Cellular. I didn’t see any reason to move on from my S10+, which I’ve enjoyed quite a bit.
I also thought about just getting a OnePlus 7 Pro but honestly its lack of wireless charging put me off. I realized that wireless charging was very important to me. I travel a lot and go into meetings frequently when I’m in town so being able to top up my phone by just dumping it on a pad instead of messing around with a cable is really big for me (plus, I already have wireless charging pads all over my home and office).
I hope OP rectify that in the OnePlus 7 Pro T (or whatever their next handset will be) because I really like what OnePlus has done these last few years.

So OnePlus has a 1TB option? Can you use external memory cards in OnePlus phones? Do you still need to use the ported Google Pixel Camera app to take decent pics on OnePlus phones?

Advantages of the S10+ over the One Plus 7 pro:
Battery life.
Sd card
headphone jack
Advantages of the Note 10:
battery life?
Take out the only features that stop people from buying other phones and they might as well by other phones... I mean if your going to sell me a gimped phone I can buy a gimp phone from anyone. SD and especially headphone jack was one of the main advantages they had over the competition.
The thing is a downgraded S10+ with faster internal storage.

There are always posts exactly like this to plug OnePlus in the threads for other phones across XDA. I've seen these same kinds of posts in the XDA threads for every single non-OnePlus phone I've owned including multiple models from Xiaomi, Huawei and the Essential PH-1.

Even I am returning my note10plus. Somehow the s10plus feels much better in hand in terms of premium feel and size. Only thing I will miss from note 10plus is the fast charging.

I don't think so. S10plus charging is capped at 15W (at least till now). I did try the 25w charger of note10plus but it was taking the same time as the 15w charger.

There was some talk that Samsung was considering an upgrade to the S10 series wireless charging speed via an OTA update which might be what you read. It hasn't happened yet and probably isn't a good idea given Samsung's track record with battery problems.

Yeah. i read about it too a few months back when the S10 5G was launched as it comes with 25W charging capability but havent read anything recently about this higher charging support coming to normal s10 series. Still, hope it does come in a future update.
